621  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Introducing the ModMiner Quad 800Mhash @ 40 Watts http://www.BTCFPGA.com on: June 04, 2012, 10:59:49 PM
that is ridiculous, people order things with credit cards over the phone every single day.

Sorry. I was not aware of that. Do you give the CVV number as well over the phone ?

Seems dangerous to me but carry on. I was just curious for my own purposes.
622  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Introducing the ModMiner Quad 800Mhash @ 40 Watts http://www.BTCFPGA.com on: June 04, 2012, 10:46:31 PM
Tried ordering the Quad using Google Checkout but there was an error, transaction didn't went through.

Please email me - tom@btcfpga.com with your error

or you can call me at 315-514-0269 and I can process your credit/debit card over the phone and get the order confirmed right away

The JohnnyGuru review is true.

Same unit different branding.

I did the research.

Seasonic 1250W unit is NOT single rail as some people spreading the FUDge around here are saying.

But still a good PSU for the money. Corsair is too expensive and not much better either.
624  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Cannot downclock memory on HD7950 lower than 625MHz - solved on: June 04, 2012, 10:08:36 PM
RBE is not supporting newer cards than 6990.
Shame Sad

Seriously Shocked

How are you supposed to mine with 7970s on Linux then Huh How to downclock memory lower than core-125 mhz ?

Someone tell me there is a way please !

Not to judge how you came about this license, but if you purchased this at "employee rates" there is a great big sticker on the front of the packaging that says it is not for resale. I know because all of my MS products have that sticker on the front of them.

Who cares ? Meh. Stop trolling. It will work like any other license. Screw Micro$oft !

So will pirating it form bittorent.  This is no different except it costs you money.

The point is is is kinda dubious to pay money for a license which violates the terms of the license.  Right?

Fair points.

SO how about those kids selling the individual chocolates they obtained from a box that said "not for individual resale" Huh  Cheesy

Which one do you guys think is better :

-Corsair AX1200 or

-Seasonic 1250W unit

I like them modular, single rail !

In that case, don't get that Seasonic.  It's actually a multi-rail unit.  (source)

I would look at Kingwin Lazer series (Gold / Platinum), Lepa G series, Rosewill Lightning or Capstone series, Sparkle Gold, or Antec High Current Pro.  While the AX1200 is no slouch, it is starting to show its age and is overpriced compared to the PSUs I recommended

Holy smokes. It does turn out you are RIGHT. I think D&T been spreading the FUD around that it is single rail.

Antec HCP-1200 is not fully modular Sad

So it looks like I won't be selling them PSUs after all !

We don't hold the funds.

Then WHO HAS ALL THE USD?

And when will you respond to emails? I want to know if my account is among the claims being processed. It's not like I say to my customers "oh sorry, can't give you your money back, Bitcoinica stole it". No. I have to pay it out of my own pocket. But I can tell them, "Bitcoinica stole your money. I was dumb enough to leave your USD with them. That would be Patrick, Zhou, Tihan, and everyone else related to that project. They say they got robbed for 18K BTC, and then all their USD magically disappeared at the same time. If you ever see anything else they do, make sure to avoid it like the plague. Now I'm paying this money personally back to you on their behalf. Hopefully they'll reimburse me, but I doubt it since they haven't responded to a single one of my emails."

No need to get angry mate. It doesn't reflect well on your business if you don't keep it civil.

I am sure they will pay it back ... at some point.

Anyone up for 4-6 weeks of waiting time Cheesy

The strangest issue is : why were the USD not paid back immediately ?

I understand the BTC issue is more delicate with an erased balance but the USD should be easy to source as none were stolen !?
632  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER GPU FPGA overclock monitor fanspeed GCN RPC linux/windows/osx 2.4.2 on: June 03, 2012, 11:53:21 PM
cgminer 2.6.2's display worked very well with 15 devices under Windows. 2.4.1 does not. I don't know if this change was intentional or an accidental side-effect, but it certainly is frustrating to find that something which *used* to work before is suddenly broken without notice.

I have a PC with a 'bucketload' of devices. Under Windows I can conveniently remotely connect to it via Remote Desktop, or VNC, or Live Mesh, or TeamViewer ... I don't use the API because I've no need for it. If cgminer's display remains broken for 'bucketloads' of devices, at least I can run multiple instances. Inefficient and inelegant, but we're not in an aesthetics contest here.

So in the 'grand scheme' of things, it doesn't really matter.
I don't disagree, but the problem is it does different things on different operating systems and different shells. Working with curses is painful on a scale that almost puts it on par with working with Luke-jr as it never does something predictable or logical. I fixed stuff after that old cgminer and yeah it broke other stuff. It's an endless tirade of one piece of shit after another and I'm sick of fighting with it, like Luke-jr.

Not only a coding GOD but a good sense of humour too ! Cheesy

2.4.2 works very well for me in LINUX.

Windows <- there's your problem. Are miners still using Windows ? LOL.
633  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER GPU FPGA overclock monitor fanspeed GCN RPC linux/windows/osx 2.4.2 on: June 03, 2012, 10:39:37 PM
Thanks for the update. Much appreciated ckolivas !

Anybody know the answer to my previous question, though :

They will only clock back up if the temperature drops enough again.

How long will this take ? I left them about 15 minutes after the heat stopped and the cold begun and they did not clock back automatically ( I had to do it manually ).

Thanks !

Anybody know how much this "unthrottling" takes once the source of heat is gone ?

It seems that the cards do clock back up after some time ( as ckolivas said ) but I still have not managed to determine after how long.

I left them overnight and they did clock back up !

Just for my reference and for others wondering about this. It seems they only clock back up slowly after the temperature reaches (target temp. - hysteresis ).

For example if the target temp is 70 then they will only start clocking back up when reaching 64.5.

Hey Entropy-uc, there hasn't been one report of somebody other than ET using this. You are jumping to conclusions. His solution will be scrutinized and time will tell if it is any good. If you don't like it, don't use it. I am happy to give ET the benefit of the doubt and a big KUDOS too. Everything you wrote is a huge pile of Bulanula.

Why Huh

I really don't understand ... I still think he should sell bitstream outright like say if you have 10 FPGAs one price and for 100 FPGAs another price and for just 1 or 2 another price like antivirus licenses etc.

This whole taking a cut and his own servers is junk for miners. DDos his servers before diff change and everybody wins though as most FPGAs are then neutered Cheesy

637  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: FPGA Rig Photos on: June 03, 2012, 02:47:48 AM
very interesting, the oil set up... with those temps it seems like a much moe effcient way to run a rig compared to air or standard liquid cooling. unless i'm missing something obvious.

Oil can absorb more heat then air but that's it. It may cool the rig for a day or so while the oil heats up. After that, the oil will not have any effect. I don't really know what this guy is thinking. He must think the oil traps the heat and then stores it in another dimension.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Sorry had to post this but it was TOO funny Cheesy

Also, anybody have received a setup of yohan's Cairnsmore boards in the wild ( except glasswalker guy ) ?

They look very nice indeed !
