- OOM who thinks that he is actually shooting those photos. I’ve been to observatories a few times in my life, and I know what they are able to see - which is jack shit. A blinking colourless fucking light. The rest is artificially layered on top - as you’ve admitted from the start, but it doesn’t change the fact that everything you see on those photos is fake.
BTW, your broker is in no way faster than my 2 minute (on the exchange) wired transfer.

Every adult human, not visionally impaired, is about to "see" (collect) 1/15 (one fifth) of a second of light via the retina, where actually only a few percent of all the light which hits the cornea gets through. THIS is why we humans see "jack shit" with our eyes, even with the most powerful of telescopes.

Have a read yourself:

Quote
The telescope also can collect light for a longer time than your eye: Telescope exposure time is up to 60 seconds, compared to your eye's 1/15 th of a second "exposure". (That is, your eye can collect light for no more than about 1/15th of a second before sending an image to your brain.)
https://lweb.cfa.harvard.edu/webscope/activities/pdfs/eyeTelComp.pdf

See, digital and film cameras are able to collect light for much longer time, and from a broader sprectrum, like these FLIR "night vision" devices, capturing low frequency light (aka. radiating heat - "heat" because compared to 0° Kelvin, everything is heat, even the "coldness" inside of your freezer). Visible and invisible Light is just Energy.
Sum that up, and you see these images indeed show what is "out there", but not being visible to our eyes. Astronomers collect data from the same spot in the night sky for hours, even days, with a spectrum as wide (and useful) as possible. As a matter of detail, mostly all of the light they collected is still very dim, and they do two things to come over that and result in a beautyful picture: "Stretch" the low light, so that a litte bit more bright than totally dark actually almost gets white, and filter out the read noise and other artifacts that sort of cover up the darker areas, where really much of that background data emitted by space objects is.

As of the wired transfer, we seem to have about the same speeds now.
This wasn't the case a few months before, when it took at least one working day via SEPA.
Seems the banks are stressed to deliver comparably fast transfer times in relation to Bitcoin, while they miss to get up to Lightning-like levels?

For the record he's the only person on my ignore list

I can't remind of any other user on WO that would be safe-to-ignore (EDIT: lately), honestly, so i think i can relate.
It's just that i decided against using Ignore at some point, because freedom of speech and shit, but i'd never expect anybody to follow this idea.

Staff representatives at the European Central Bank are disappointed that a planned pay rise doesn’t make up for inflation that’s currently five times the official 2% target.

I am tempted to recommend them to dca into BTC, but I am not sure how well that advice would be received.

The above reference article says: " With inflation in Germany and the euro area likely around 8.5% this year, it means a substantial loss in purchasing power. " and the pay hike is not enough to tackle this record inflation.
The problem with salary class people is that they only stick with there monthly salary and don't invest or do anyother side business ( or work). I too being a salary class person was living a hand to mouth life when I was relying only on monthly salary. The annual salary rise is proportional to inflation, so basically your living standard remains same or goes down with time. I am comfortable since I started side business of investing in cryptocurrency.

More and more people were barely making it until next month/salary last year, and the inflation worsened things. Mostly families got hit, with cost for living, food, mobility, energy and school going over the average inflational rise. Debt rates in the private area is growing rapidly, as well as poverty.
Now there's an additional psychological problem: Whenever a normal person recieves extra cash, it mostly gets spent on things this person does not really need. Fpr example, going on vacation for a few days longer, buying the more expensive 2nd hand car, a new television set or even presents, ...whatever.
The "bad mechanics" behind this behaviour is that people map the past and present onto the future, so if they made it until date with an amount of xy per month, they think they can get along like this in the future, too. While observers like us know that people get less for a dollar each year, pay more for the same goods and services each year, i don't have to really tell you how centralized fiat money is "working". Most people don't look at extra money at what it is: A replacement for money they would have spent on other occasions in the past, if they would have had it.
I was in debt when i was young, and i saw everybody around me being in debt doing this, but i plunged every extra cash into my bank account in the reds. When i upped in income, i didn't spend more accordingly, i didn't get a bigger apartment, newer car and such. I made it out in a couple of years, watching people getting wrecked and sometimes jailed because they couldn't adjust. But maybe we didn't really share the same goal, being free of (expensive) debt. At least some of them must have expected to get along like this forever without facing real consequences?

yes, it appears to be...a bit scary.

Portugal (sans Ronaldo) looks great..a title contender now.

Like I said

Netherlands - Portugal

I was more conviced to see Argentina/Brazil in the final, but this may be pure hopium, as a long time fan of Brazil's selecao  Cool
Netherlands team has improved a lot since they got rid of the older players (imho) and gave more room and support to the young ones, and now we can look at the results of these two progressions.
However, it's soccer, and i hope that just the team playing the best soccer will win the tournament. I was too busy with combating the flu than following the WSC, but since yesterday i can watch the games online, finally. I guess Yann Sommer wasn't fully recovered yesterday, he was too passive most time, but the portugese goal shots were really great, too.

EDIT: I just saw CB got six (!) in a row, so we reached the bottom now for sure, no?  Cheesy

Still great shot (offside) near the end. He may just be warming up for the semi/final, to score a few decisive goals.

yeah swap lungs with my wife.

pretty good chance fisrt covid variant has given her long term lung damaged which is yet to be checked.

Basically think cystic fibrous. but just use the word fibrous.

Her lungs are simply continuing to scar.

So to anyone that did not get hammered by covid cool. Just remember that people did get hammered.

We got first version in very late dec 2019. She went to hospital with 2x pneumonia in Jan 2020. And while she survived. she now has a condition that appears to slowly scar and keep scarring her lungs.

Hoping doctors can halt the continued scar growth.

Glad this has not happened to more of the wo people.
but not glad it seems to have happened to my wife.

I'm so sorry, phil.
Google this:

lumbrokinase fibrosis

Get some of it for your wife. 40mg/day.
It improved my small fiber clotting (from post viral CFS) a lot. I stopped taking LK two months ago, no recurring effects. I can only strongly suggest to try that, too.

EDIT: And NAC to ease the breathing. (N-Acethyl Cysteine)

SBF now playing the "I didn't do nuffin intentionally" card on his press tour.

Don't trust a single individual / company with your money / assets.

The more supposedly friendly / welcoming / good for charities such people / organisations appear to be, the bigger the scam usually.

I've seen it in my private life as well with such mastermind criminals in public many times now.

When dealing with people, it's best to be more aware of what they are doing, not what they are saying.

I am always amazed by looking at those nebulae...thinking about how all that gas gets converted to igniting stars, which then (if they are too massive), end up as a supernova, which makes "metals", which then gets to be incorporated into solids, like our planet (around another star), carbon, nitrogen and oxygen (although those are produced during 'regular" nucleosynthesis and supernovae simply spread them around in an explosion) into our bodies..etc, etc.

I most always have to think about that old song by Moby ("we are all made of stars") when i edit the astro stuff.
Two days left until i get the cooled camera, but no clear skies in sight so far. January should fix this.
651  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 27, 2022, 09:27:11 PM
Not much to say these days, CB... totally flat he is.
Bitcoin doing it's thing, much work around the house, harmonic family life.

And yeah, up and out for too long at night:
(The Rosetta Nebula, with central star cluster NGC 2240)

EDIT: Only 82 minutes of exposure, because the battery drained in the cold too quickly. The astrocamera will be a nice upgrade, also because of the PSU.
The DSLR used here also produces annoying noise. At longer exposure times (even at 60 seconds per frame), i have to sacrifice fine details at postprocessing for getting rid of the nasty noise, even as it is reduced at stacking the 82 single pictures.

Who else was blessed enough to buy this 2022 dip?
I waited for this for months but didn't expected it to go below $18k.

Simple math, If you buy today BTC worth $1k, it will be worth $2k when BTC goes 50% down from ATH ($33k) Wink

I did. Not on the very low, but at levels slightly above of what we are today. I had a little cash and no use, before the astrography camera incident, so i was lucky not to spend it all, while i was speculating on another V (leg down, leg up), but so far ir didn't come.

The sellwalls are a bit higher. Many cheap coins waiting for being picked up.
Opportunities will be taken at any level. Fuck those greedy scammers and scandals, but i wish for a soonish bull onset, at least for El Salvador's and Saylor's success.
Especially ES, as bitcoin pioneer country, should make a positive future role model. Dictator or not, that's of lesser importance as long as he's not taking over neighbor countries (like you know who).
654  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 22, 2022, 08:27:36 PM
When we were bouncing around at $18K I was telling myself that I think the next leg down will be the one to buy.  As we dip into the 15's I can't help but think this is the dip people have been waiting for.  There's still a ton of uncertainty and even more bad news on the horizon, but I think we've gone low enough in the short term (once this Genesis stuff is cleared up).  I think we're likely to start seeing a runup before the halving soon, with a small crash as we go into the halving and people cash out profits, followed by the start of the next bull run.  That's how it's gone in the past anyway.

yea, everyone pretty much knows the "drill" by now, but buying at the lows and selling closer to bumps can still result in 50% more btc in the end, albeit I definitely don't know how to do it.
I typically sell when I need money and buy when I have extra.

In this cycle, I have a more detailed game plan, though. We shall see how it goes.

I just sell when holiday or star resto
I’m almost out of coin

DISCLAIMER: off topic quality content

As an off-topic alternative to the mostly weird contributions of our WO's black family sheep, namely misled friend  eXPHorizon, i decided to repeat IC 1805, the heart nebula.
This time i took more care that the focus is good after locking the focuser, collect twice as much data at a higher ssensitivity, the results came out decent, while there is some haze by higher clouds in the picture, precursing a cloudy rest of the night and rainy morning.

However, for the ones who like it:

On topic: Bitcoin price feels like bottom to me (again), so it almost certainly will go down, when you match the history of my callenings (hopeingns).
Whatever, i #hodl and King Daddy (RIP) still doesn't care shit  Grin

EDIT: Image is flipped, sorry  Roll Eyes

EDIT2: Managed to get a used, dedicated astrophotography camera in very good condition at 2/3 of the pricce, at a fifth of its average lifetime. Looking forward to moar beautiful results in the next weeks, when the winter nights will be cold enough for crystal clear skies, too.

Just think about all the fun that you are having right now in your youth by spending all your BTC on camera equipment.

It will be worth it in your old age, when you are having to eat cat food and sleep in cardboard boxes because you spent most if not all of your BTC to deliver us original quality upside down heart nebula shots... and at least you enjoy it, right?  right?

rrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiggggggggghhhhhhhhttt?

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

With the exception that i didn't spend a single sat on my equipment. I set up a monthly DCA plan and following it, had some gear to sell, insurance refund and share of my wife's business gains where i have a small part in  Grin

EDIT: It's also not the uber-cam, pretty low-end specs/high-quality standard, but sufficient and cooled, which takes a lot of visible noise and helps with sensitivity (more light, less exposure time). It's not common to get this particular model in such a good shape at this price. A no-brainer, really.
Sure, i also could image how much this $1000 buy is worth in ten years if i invested it in bitcoin, but we also want to get some life, don't we? It's also one of my special interests (astronomy) since i was a child. No worries  Cool

EDIT2: Honestly, i was thinking more about selling a bit between $50k and $30k than lately. Who wants to be the next mindrust? Not me, for sure  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Just had a let down. Bought my Bitcoin in 2013 on Bitstamp with full verification as German citizen living in Germany. Now that my bank account is almost emptied because I have no job and no income, I wanted to cash out 3-4K to have some cash for the next months. Bitstamp asked for proof of where I got my crypto from to be able to cash out. So I showed em the buy history on my Bitstamp account. Now they asking me where I got that money in 2013 to buy the Bitcoins. How the hell can I proof money I saved over a time span of 10 years. For example by selling your old 2nd hand stuff etc. Ridiculous. Gonna try Binance now.

Log in your bank account and search for banking history dating back to ~2013 range. If you had a job at that time you need screenshot those slips and mark it with a red line the salary deposits for better uncluttered view. Ore screenshot your savings.

Bitstamp asked me the same questions and this is how i did that, having no problems cashing out money every month for my retirement. Money transfer takes a few hours which is fast.

We can only go back 3 or 6 months here in Germany on the bank account. You mean they ok with one salary check? Because the documents are so old I threw them all in trash. Especially because I will leave Germany soon and thought I won’t need em ever again.

Confused as to what you mean by cash out the btc.

are you attempting to withdraw btc?

are you attempting to turn btc into fiat?

That's why i am registered at more than one exchange and at a broker (send btc, receive cash or vice versa).

IIRC it was hacked and then the devs ignored the hacker explaining how to fix it and then it got hacked again, so yeah go ahead and put funds on there. Cheesy

But nah....

OFFTOPIC:

One of the worst captures till date. I'll spare the long story, but in the end the object was dimmed by very, very light fog, focus was off slightly, strong horizontal noise bands appeared out of nowhere, which i still have to research.
