I have to delete the blockchain and redownload from scratch.
I understand the procedure to delete all files except of wallet.dat
Nevertheless when I open wallet.dat I receive following message: 'Adobe reader could not open 'wallet dat' because it is either not a supported file etc...' It is also not opening with Word or tekseditor. Same with my wallet backup. When I open it with an alternative, with Word, then all strange symbols appear.
I therefore am afraid to lose my keys. What to do? Can anyone advise me? I have my wallet on a recent MacBook. Maybe just don't bother the wallet.dat, just keep it as it is and start redownload? Btw it happens to all my BTC/Alt wallets

You don't "open" wallet.dat... especially if it is encrypted. If it is no encrypted it is no more than a text file. But, you should have no reason to open it.

Hey, can anyone help me with the nxt wallet?  I can't run the latest wallet to save my life.  I'm trying to run on OSX and I get server errors every time.  Kind of disappointing because I've never had wallet problems and I've had nxt right from the start.

check out the NXT forum release thread. The consensus is either modify your .sh file to increase the runtime memory to 1024 or delete the block chain and re-download it.

You guys new to NXT could also try the http://www.mofowallet.com/. It is written by the FIM Krypto devs. That's a fork of NXT and the wallet supports both NXT and FIM.

It has a hybrid mode, so it can run without needing to DL the full block chain. It doesn't use proprietary servers, it just connects to the NXT and FIM network nodes. You chose.

It has a wallet.dat mode if you prefer that to the brainwallet setup. When you create an account you can store it in a wallet file encrypted with a password. When you load the app you can chose Open Wallet, select your wallet file, provide your password and viola.

It supports multiple accounts in the wallet if you'd like.

It is really a nice effort. They also update it very quickly when new NRS versions are released if you do run the servers locally (full node blockchain d/l).

BTER and bittrex don't support any bitcoin 2.0 assets.. so don't expect gemz to be traded there.

BTER supports Counterparty XCP, which is essentially a counterpart asset. So, they certainly support counterpart assets. BTER also trades several NXT assets as well. I don't think it is a stretch for them to carry GEMZ, especially if there is a shown demand. And I think 2000 BTC's being spend on them is a good sign.

Very nice article which lead me to the vid I hadn't seen yet. A few questions.

Will we also be able to sent "bits" rather than bitcoin. How about BTC? (keywords)

Sending 1 bits would be so much easier that .00000100 BTC

Also, how do you fund your Gems wallet? I assume there is a place to display the BTC address/QRCode?

Can I send BTC to someone that doesn't have a Gems wallet using a phone number and they are just prompted to Dl gems somehow?

I wonder if someone can explain this statement in the blog about checklocktimeverify:

"...and can even replace the need for lawyers in inheritance trusts."

How? Maybe I am misunderstanding. If I send coin with a time lock, I still no longer have the coin any more right? Basically isn't the coin owned by the address it was sent to but locked (unspendable) until that time passes?

So, I can't send all my money to my heirs with a lock, cause I then lose access to those coins.

What am I missing?

Read the article mentioned above:

".....Suppose two parents give their child 10 BTC and send it to a multisignature address with 3 signatures. Mom and Dad each have an individual private key, and the child has a private key. In order to make the funds spendable, Mom and Dad must both sign the transaction.

Any other combination of two (the child and the mom or the child and the dad) will not unlock the funds. However, once a certain amount of time passes, say a year, the child can release funds with either parent’s private key. The additional functionality of BIP65 protects the funds from being spent prior without permission of both parents, and in case of a disaster, only one parent is needed to release the funds...."

What article? I will look into it more. Thanks.

Problem solved, my mistake, my apologies.

No problem. It is a little funky that you only see a bid order placement, which reduces your NXT.

Unfortunately, Cryptsy has a reputation for having long withdrawl times occasionally. They can be quite long.

Have you raised a ticket with them?

Coins were visible in wallet under 'recent transactions", I said, nothing wrong with cryptsy this time, I guess.

Hmm... do they appear in a blockexplorer correctly? Like nxtreporting.com.

I checked https://nxtblocks.info/#section/blockexplorer_blocks and my transaction number is; 13164190461936491771
Looks okay, I would say. wallet says ; coins arrived, but they were never added to my total nxt. Very strange, I think.

Hmm... that is very strange. But, the block explorers show the same thing. They show the transaction but don't show it in the accounts balance. I wonder if it is on a fork?

You might want to go over to NXT forum and start a thread there. That's where the primary Dev, JonLuc hangs out.

Hi, trying to get started with NXT here. I bought some on Bittrex but there was no option to fill in my public key. Any tips on that would be appreciated!

Do you have a Nxt account set up and ready to go?

If so, use a faucet listed in the OP to do the public key part. Then you'll be set to move the Nxt from Bittrex.

I have everything set up. The faucet is a pain tho, you have to go through that about 30 (!!) times and then wait till sunday for payout. I'm not going through that.

If anyone would be so kind as to help me out here (send me 1 NXT, I'll send it back when I get my Bittrex transaction, including 2 NXT for the transaction fees) that'd be much appreciated!!

Sent you some NXT.

Sure, what is your NXT id and public key. (No need to return the NXT).

XPY Available supply now reflects the amount in circulation as shown on the block explorer: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xpy/

Ah ok thanks, that excludes the coins in Prime controllers.

Got it!

Updated, no my wallet just says "Downloading Blockchain.."

last block is 282569 from yesterday.

Is this because I have no connections to 1.3.3 peers?

The update does some cleaning of the peer database. It deletes all stored peers and adds a set of new welknownpeers known to be running 0.3.3 after that all peers trying to connect with non 0.3.3 versions are blacklisted by default.
The 282569 block is the block of the hard fork, it could be your client was just busy scanning and verifying the blockchain which is also something done on  first start only, verifying is expected to take a while.

Thanks for the info. When I woke up today and looked at it, it looks to be up to date now and forging. I hope the updates slow down a bit. 4 updates in a week or so is quite a bit. Wink That said, it's glad to see the dev team is active.

what is the real advantage for merged mining? it didn't help doge, from a small miners perspective, just pretty much pushed all us little guys out and made it uninteresting to mine, is this pretty much just for security? I only have 150mhs so I wonder what coins it will mine with and if it will stay interesting..

More network Hash. More people hashing means a more secure network.

Please do not try to game the system. The algo will take into account net purchases, so if you buy and sell and buy and sell (or transfer), it wont help as only the purchases from GLYDA is obtaining a ticket, but any sale or transfer after that is burning a ticket

After the last message I just bought somoe, but not from GLYDA... so now I read this. ;(

Buy some more, you can never own too many JLH shares  Wink

How do you buy from a specific account in the asset exchange?

Thanks for the information. So effectively there are now 13% less FIM in the wild?

Is there a consideration of a re-org similar to what was considered with NXT after the BTER hack?

iirc it has to be done within 1440 blocks.

I can just see the people who are new to crypto currency go, wow, you literally manufacture money out of thin air.

Yep, just like the federal reserve.

I'm not dismissing this coin, it does have massive potential if it gets the massive numbers of downloads BUT the price people have paid for it makes it very fragile once it hits the exchanges. I think people can scoop up this coin at half the price it's at in this sale probably much less.

The token have a use contrary to most altcoins. You need to buy tokens to advertise on the network.
The fees are much cheaper if you use tokens instead of BTC. It is ideal for micro payment.

So, what's the date when we can withdraw GEMZ from Koinify?

At the end of the token sale.

Sorry, that's not a date.

The sale will close at January 5th 23:59:59 PST latest, or when the 3,000 BTC cap, whichever happens first.

thank you.
