Not sure what to do with this clever copypaster, I'll report it here and we'll see if mods take action or not:

What do you think is the reason why  other governments are discouraging its citizen to use digital currency? Any thoughts.....

Why Goverment  is not recommending to use  digital currency such a bitcoin? Because the government cannot controll it over. The government doubts the digital currency will be used illegal activities.

However, remember that the merit system is still only about 4 months old.  That's pretty young in the grand scheme of things.  Maybe after a year or so, it'll become common knowledge that you won't be earning merits from shitty posts.  Maybe.  Hopefully.
Well I'm not as optimistic that e.g. a year with the merit system will change the way the newbie spammers post here... (and it won't change the bots at all...)
As long as youtube and the social sites encourage people to join here to earn money without any knowledge (they give them some posting examples and encourage them to join bounty campaigns), newbies won't care a shit about the backgound, the blockchain, the bitcoin, the ethereum, or anything important stuff but only the shitcoins and the shady exchanges where they can sell them after a successfull bounty campaign, in order to send the USD back to their home... and the sad thing is that for those newbie spammers this forum and the whole crypto world is just a kind of 'tool' to make some money...
And for the future, the youtube, steemit and other paid per click guys won't let these poor newbie spammers know that the merit system has come in and f.cked up their easy money system they promote, because people won't click on their youtube channel anymore and they won't get their money, so it's easier to them to just be quiet and let the poor guys experience the merit system on their own...
643  Other / Meta / Re: Can someone please explain to me why some users become legendary rank ? on: May 18, 2018, 09:24:54 PM
First from. Your rank now, you need to rank up to member first, then full member, sr member before you can qualify to legendary
how do you achieve this? You need a total of 1erits for the member level, 100 for full member, 250 for sr member,500 for sr. Member and finally 1000 for legendary. You can only get merit when you post reasonable and l quality post. So get on and start posting.

Why did you post this? We all know those facts, and the question asked by the OP was why and not how
It's easy Smiley because of the post count Smiley
And it looks really ontopic, contains information about the forum, seems it's helpful and quite informative.
Maybe it was not only for post count but to catch the eye of someone who wants to give out a few merits Smiley
But I can be absolutely wrong, of course Smiley
644  Other / Meta / Re: please, Please, PLEASE, can the mods start locking old threads. on: May 18, 2018, 09:18:27 PM
lol bumping an old thread with:

Quote
Can't speak on behalf of everyone but personally I use a bitcoin wallet. Easy, safe, and secure

This is clearly a bot or something, 7 day ban would be great as a warning, but with something so obviously stupid as this, I'd say a longer ban (or maybe permaban) would be more suitable. It's just ridiculous.

After checking his post history, he's mostly spewing up off-topic posts.
I wouldn't be so kind with a bot to start with a 7 day ban, why not to permaban these accounts?
If they are bumping for payment (I saw it somewhere in other threads), there should be no mercy...
When I go really mad about spammers I usually wish to restore newbie jail, lock all the topics at once and open up only those where normal users are posting quality content... but if only the newbie jail comes back, it could help a lot...
645  Other / Meta / Re: New Report to moderator stats ;) thank you theymos on: May 18, 2018, 09:11:07 PM
It's very interesting to see how many if my reports was marked as bad and how many are unhandled. But I'm wondering why my report history page is empty, I don't see any posts there, just stats. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=reportlist;mine
I also have an empty reportlist, but I have stopped reporting as soon as my stats has started to decrease.
I'll start to report again and we'll see if my reportlist will show up or not.
Also from now on, we can learn from our reports and have better stats in the end (hopefully).
EDIT: I've reported one, but it only increased the unhandled, no history still
646  Other / Meta / Re: [WTF] I reported a post for plagiarism and my accuracy rate went DOWN!?! on: May 17, 2018, 08:19:21 PM
My advice is don't worry so much about report accuracy, and just keep reporting plagiarism and anything else you can find.

I've had my accuracy go down after a long delay, and I attributed it to a backlog of reports that the mods finally got to, and I'm not concerned in the least.  Reporting posts is like a mental health affirmation for me, like therapy almost.  If I get 'em wrong sometimes, oh well.  Keep doing what you're doing, because it's the right thing to do.
This is just fine. Although it seems that the new generation always want to be the first, always want to make 100% (or even higher) and don't like criticism at all Smiley
This is why it's hard to accept that after a hard work, the result is worst than before...
Do we need that % to show up when we report a post? I could live without it, that was the reason I've also stopped reporting posts because the % became lower and lower.... working hard to decrease the accuracy...
So maybe the easiest option would be to remove the accuracy % from where people report the posts and if they really care about it, they could have a look at it somewhere in the profile, but I won't search for it...
Just an idea... and removing that part requires only little coding...
647  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: to make a button to filter out messages from users with signatures. on: May 17, 2018, 08:03:45 PM
Ok, I got it, the idea was not good.

I know it's possible to turn off signatures or to block them partially using a script.
The idea was to change the behavior of some posters, just like signature campaigns changed it.
I will try to work on a better idea Smiley

The whole forum staff and a lot of high ranked users are also trying to find an ultimate solution for the spam (See the merit as it was the first official answer to the problem).
So don't worry, you are not alone, and it's not only your job to solve this situation.
Every idea has pros and cons, but in the end, this will have a solution or the forum will slowly fade away...
The first and most urgent problem is regulation the bounty managers but there's nothing average people can do in connection with this... but we'll see...
648  Other / Meta / Re: Warning when posting to old threads on: May 16, 2018, 08:09:32 PM
Auto lock was discussed several times and about several possible ways of auto-locking...
E.g.: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3462180.0
While it will affect only 'normal' users, I'm afraid that the bots won't care a sh.t about it, they will open a new spam thread instead...
E.g.: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3557849.0
If spammers don't have a fancy topic they can spam into, they will create...
This is why the former newbie jail (or possible merit jail) is mentioned again and again these days...
E.g.: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3733114.0
Still, there's no holy grail to solve the problem...
649  Other / Meta / Re: Suspicious user (to me at least) on: May 16, 2018, 07:48:24 PM
I don't want to act like the devil's advocate, they've deserved the red tag.
On the other hand, I sometimes also do something similar (not the same, but similar). If I (rarely) receive a merit, I always check who was the user who have given me that merit and if he/she is not a Legendary, I usually chech the post history of him/her and if I find something that deserves a merit I usually give a merit too.
I'm doing this because I know how hard is to create such a quality content that will catch the attention of those members who still have some merits. I also still have some smerits because I have little time to read and write here daily, so my way of working in connection with the merit is that if I receive some, I'll check if I can also give it or not.
Please let me know if it's not a good practice but I think it's understandable and acceptable (I hope so).
650  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Can Help Social Media Sites Like Facebook on: May 15, 2018, 10:29:21 PM
What is known is that Facebook does everything to block any ad concerning blockchain and cryptocurrency. It means that this social media isn`t ready for any cryptoactivities. Reasons? A lot of scammers, lack of legislature of cryptos...However, as time goes by the situation may change dramatically.
You have a point but I think if facebook will accept bitcoin then there is a big possibility that bitcoin will become more popular than it seem. There a lot of reasons why bitcoin was blocked on social medias, one of the major reason why it is being blocked it is because there are people who made such ads to scam people.
It seems that both of you are missing the point... Facebook has banned cryptos because it wants to develop (or introduce if it's already developed) it's own crypto, to manage somehow the peer to peer small value transactions (fiat money, or it's own crypto, we'll see) inside it's system... So at first, they need to get rid of the competitors and after they will have more chance to introduce their crypto.
651  Other / Meta / Re: sig campaign- what about "1merited post per week" instead of"25 post per week" on: May 15, 2018, 10:22:18 PM
Nobody read those shitposters in megathreads

So kill the root of the problem, instead of adding some other rule. I don't count any megathread posts, guitarplinker didn't when Rollin.io's campaign was running, and I'm guessing some other managers do as well. If all managers do this, then things would be fine, without needing to heavily change up how campaigns work, and open up new avenues of abuse.
This would be the ideal solution, to somehow force bounty managers to 1) set some rules for quality 2) force enrolled members to post according to the rules.
But nobody can tell how we could force those bounty managers...
This is a free forum, it seems that everyone is allowed to manage his own campaign, if he wants to, or become a bounty manager and manage several bounty campagins... Signature campaigns are way better compared to bounty campaigns these days, so somehow we should regulate the bounties. I know that bounties (and ICOs) are good for the forum and generate traffic, which generates ad revenue, also it ranks the forum in the first place in a google search (the high volume of the current traffic), but somehow we need to find a balance between traffic and quality...
652  Other / Meta / Re: sig campaign- what about "1merited post per week" instead of"25 post per week" on: May 15, 2018, 09:42:51 PM
I was thinking about this possibility. What if in future  sig campaign use "1 merited post per week" instead of"25 post per week" ?

Nobody read those shitposters in megathreads

I think that if it were MY company, I would prefer to see my ad (signature) in one merited post per week instead of 25 shitposts per week.

Correct, nobody reads those shitposts in megathreads, people scroll right past them, which allows the viewer (scroller) to see the advertisement in the signature that separates each post.

If you remove the incentive for people to make posts the company get's their advertisement shown on fewer and fewer threads.
The problem with megathreads, off-topic section, bounty section, etc that really nobody reads those topics but only writes them Smiley
So it's OK if someone runs thru a spam megathread he will see a lot of advertisement but as nobody reads them, there will be nobody to see the advertisements, only the bots, but bots are not the targeted audience...
If they spam in the Beginners board or in Bitcoin Discussion, your idea is correct.
653  Other / Meta / Re: Is there a way to discover which report was not accurate? on: May 14, 2018, 09:16:13 PM
....
How difficult would it be to provide access to a list with our failed reports?

Not unless theymos changes it. I think people should be able to see their recent history though and reports marked good or bad. Would help people figure out what should and shouldnb't be reported.
I'm also interested in a kind of feedback about the reported posts. As long as I'm 100% it doesn't really matter but as soon as I'll have my first failure, I'll be really interested in the details.
...
So it took some time (2 weeks) and I'm not 100% anymore in reporting spammy posts...
I can really understand now the curiosity of the others about it, I also would be happy to know what was the problem with my reports...
Unfortunately it also reduces my motivation to report again the spam posts, because I don't want to let my % to decrease even more...
A list with the failed reports (and a brief explanation) would be really handy...
654  Other / Meta / Re: Fake profiles joining old/closed bounties for some reason. on: May 14, 2018, 08:25:27 PM
The fuck? Pardon my French!

You can say that again !!!
Seems like a mod trashed the main thread but...surprise:
Kanade Coin Airdrop2
http://archive.is/2V3bD

The bots have started their own thread...

It was proposed a few times, but I just can't repeat enough if I see this amount of spam...
The newbies/jr.s should be somehow restricted to open threads and somehow forced to post only in selected topics (newbie/merit jail)...
That would solve this problem, because if they are only allowed to post in the beginner's board (with a lot of mods) they will stop doing this, because in the end all their effort will be in vain...

EDIT:
I'm just wondering how bots are creating more than 4,000 usernames in one run...
655  Other / Meta / Re: Captcha /or similar service/ for newbies and jr.membrs, to prevent bots. on: May 14, 2018, 08:08:22 PM
...
I simply advice  to go after bounties managers  since they have the solution to stop this spam , they need to do their jobs  and not pay for shit , uselss, spam posts   and if they do  well  end their career  with  -2 red trust  from dt members  .
...

What happens if bounty managers who don't care about the post quality but only the quantity will receive a temporary (e.g. 1 week, if it doesn't help, 2 weeks) ban?
This would cause them to be in a delay with the payments, so this will be a real punishment for them.
If they register a new user to complete the payments (or at least to communicate it), it will be a ban evasion so they will receive permaban, if I understand the forum rules right.
656  Other / Meta / Re: Post and activities are decreasing on: May 13, 2018, 06:13:50 PM
...
Sorry! I am very much new in here and also learning as well. I really appreciate your help and suggestions.
You can now lock this topic because you have received the answer for your question. Locking a topic means that other people will still be able to read the question and the answers, but spammers won't have any chance to post unnecessary or offtopic posts.
657  Other / Meta / Re: Post and activities are decreasing on: May 13, 2018, 05:17:54 PM
Most of your posts are made in SMT (Spam Mega Threads), which are constantly being deleted. When the mod deletes the whole thread, your post also gets deleted.

Sorry! I didn't understand what is Spam Mega Threads? Can u please elaborate it?
What should I do to avoid this kind of situation? Please kindly suggest.

Spam Mega Thread is something like:
Why Many Country's Government think Bitcoin is a Illegal? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2568226.0
What will happen to bitcoin in the near future? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2986894.0
Best investment is bitcoin https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3221718.0
Reasons why Bitcoin is droping: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2726080.0
These are just the first few topics from the Bitcoin Discussion thread, maybe in the beginning these threads were informative and fine, but there are so many shitposts and false information in the topics that they are not reliable anymore.
658  Other / Meta / Re: Limit Newbies daily post and restrict them from creating a thread. on: May 11, 2018, 08:58:30 PM
Thoae guys are persistent, whatever you do, they'll find a way to ignore it. If you want my honest opinion, leave them spamming in mega threads, no one even goes there besides them and with that you know they'll be posting 99% in that topic. Otherwise, if you restrict them there or something, they'll find some other place to use.
If they really want to spam, in order to increase their activity, they should go to the Off-topic section and post there anything they want... Newbie jail/Merit jail is also a possible solution, to limit the spammers to specific boards/threads...
I know you just can't reward the people for reporting spammers with merits or with anything like that becuase if you do, they will create some fake accounts for themselves and post rubbish with them just to have them reported with their original account... brave new world...
659  Other / Meta / Re: Please restrict the serious discussion board to members and above. on: May 11, 2018, 08:47:27 PM
....
In addition IMO the "report to moderator" function do need few reports so that we can see...
=>which one has been already reported,
=>which one considered as accepted and
=>which one was rejected.
I have a proposal here too:
Let's create some more buttons instead of the 'Report to moderator', like:
-Report as copypaste/plagiarism
-Report as off-topic
-Report as ref.link included
-Report as low quality or something similar.
-etc...
Or, if you click on the 'Report to moderator' you should have a list with radio buttons to just easily mark the one that fits, and you don't have to write anything, this would save some time and effort for the reporters and maybe they will be more happy to report even more posts...
660  Other / Meta / Re: Admins cleaning out the rubbish threads? on: May 11, 2018, 08:38:24 PM
I see the Administrators and Moderators here are cleaning up the rubbish threads around the forum, it's a great initiative!
...
I'm just wondering if there will be a really big cleanup and hundreds (thousands) of posts are deleted, what happens with the merits the scammers gave to each other in the spamming megathreads?
The best would be to have the merits also deleted with the post. This would hit the spammers hard, because not only their activity will decrease but their merits too...

The press section also needs some clean-up, and some new far more drastic rules.
Every blogger is spamming his own links there right now, with articles that are 99% copy paste.
My proposal for the press section:
Every topic should have only the OP and no comments/other post at all. This is a place to copy the press releases into one thread to let everyone read them. As soon as someone wants to discuss something, they can open a new topic in Bitcoin Discussion with just one link to the Press thread (no need to copy-paste the whole article) and should create a meaningful post too....
