641  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Zugacoin vs bitcoin. on: December 04, 2023, 07:45:50 AM

Real sad that people will desecrate their religion just to deceive the people in same Faith, to buy into a scam project.
Talking about deceiving people of the same faith with one just to amass wealth, does the Bible not say something about wolves in sheep's clothing? Those who get deceived by priests want it so because they are promised heaven on earth by their wolfish priests. I don't have any sympathy to waste on people like that. They deserve being scammed. As Christians we shouldn't knock our brains out of skulls because we're in church. We should question things in church the same way we do secular stuff. But then, didn't Karl Marx like you rightly quoted, say it that people tend to be stupidly intoxicated where religion is? Let another priest come up with another Ponzi tagged crypto project and it will shock you how the same set of those scammed by Sam Zuga will queue up to invest in it.
642  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cristiano Ronaldo get 1 billion dollars lawsuit for his NFT failure on: December 03, 2023, 08:14:31 PM
Those weeping baby investors should just go and sit down at a quiet corner and cover their faces in shame. So, it was CR7 who made the NFTs not to fly to the moon to give them their expected cashout.  They should've known that whatever promises that are made during promotions are all marketing strategies and shouldn't be taken deeply to mean guarantee. Nothing is certain in cryptos. As a greenhorn a few years ago I bought – Centra and Electroneum (ETN), both were promoted by famous dudes and a lot of mouth watery promises were made but weren't kept. Centra later became a scam but nobody killed Floyd Mayweather for being its face. They should just let Ronaldo be. Case dismissed!
643  Other / Meta / Re: Is it accepted to call member criminal in a thread - no proof, no context... on: December 03, 2023, 05:16:52 PM
There's a saying on the Internet: "Never argue with idiots. You'll stoop to their level, and they'll crush you with their experience." I don't know for sure whether Mark Twain says this or not...
Yes, that quote was attributed to Mark Twain. I believe it's Twain's thinking that silence is golden (not admittance) at a time of altercation. Of course, we know how difficult it's to be silent when someone is skewing our comments to suit their narratives. I've read a few of BADecker's lengthy posts in the recent past (that user often posts in Politics & Society and Off-Topic), and I couldn't help but noticed how antagonistic that user is. I guess OP should just let this slide and ignore his accuser.
644  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing altcoins now or during halving? on: December 03, 2023, 03:26:01 PM
So are you going to pick your altcoins Now??  Or During/After BTC Halving while you can buy altcoins with low price?
It's never a great idea to chase price and chasing price is buying when price has already left its station. In my books, doing that doesn't show any financial shrewdness. No one should wait until price has kicked off before buying. Again, now is a good time to get into whatever tokens/coins that caught one's attention during the slurring days of the market. Don't wait for Bitcoin halving before buying. Buy now.

For anyone waiting for the market to bottom out so they can catch the very bottom, they should know that market bottom only becomes visible after price has left. No one catches the bottom while price is still there.
645  Other / Meta / Re: Was the forum better before without Merit or is it better now with Merit? on: December 03, 2023, 06:11:09 AM
Please explain your answer so users like me can get an idea how it was and what you prefer. Smiley
It's obvious that the merit system brought a level of sanity and control in the forum and helped push account farmers off the forum or minimized their activities and kicked shitposters in the balls. Though I'm of the opinion that meriting a post is a subjective thing than objective. I've said this times without number. By the way, in the past with your current status of 126 activities you would've ranked up to Full Member long ago but that's not possible now as you've merit to contend with and that will push you to put more efforts in your posts to get merit. You see how a plus it's?
646  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos, when KYC will be introduced? on: December 03, 2023, 05:51:05 AM
Many exchanges also promised that they will never introduce a KYC. As a result, under a pressure from regulators, they introduced a KYC
Binance is a case in reference for me and I can remember how pissed I was when that happened. Sometimes, I reason that nothing is absolute that it can't be affected by change and that's why I don't see any sarcasm in the topic you raised. I won't be scandalized if a few months/years down the line theymos begins to call for a KYC here. For those who think it will never happen, never say NEVER. There's nothing impossible under the sun. A simple phone number added is a KYC already. It doesn't need to be a full biodata and we should know this.

Quote
Can Thermos promise to all of us all right now that he is not under a pressure?
Ok, you don't have to be that pissed as to replace theymos with Thermos 😏.
647  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 02, 2023, 02:25:55 AM

Imagine that Abcmixer did a fraudulent transaction with an address, launches a campaign on bitcointalk, uses same address to pay upto 50 participants of the campaign. FBI uncovers them, link more than 30 addresses belonging to the bitcointalk members to Abcmixer. The 30 participants are automatic culprits or accomplice. It will take more than 10 tons of efforts to convince FBI that you are a mere promoter of the mixer.
I get your point but somehow you skewed my point. What's the forum if not the users? If theymos is saving the forum users isn't he also saving the forum? Anyway, let's not overflog that issue as we seemed to have headed the same direction on that micro context.

The point of my argument concerning the authorities not even clamping down on banks is a way of showing disdain that much money laundering activities go on with fiat than we've in cryptos. Isn't this a case of giving a dog a bad name just to hang it. Authorities are doing the much they can to strangulate Bitcoin but the good thing is that they arrived a bit late now. As it's right now, I don't think any FUD can make Bitcoin dip to $20,000 until after this rally, no matter how bad that news is.
648  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers Signatures : A challenge or Respect on: December 01, 2023, 05:16:48 PM
We as the citizens of planet earth promise you to milk every possible  signature revenue to the last milliseconds allowed and will not forfeit our rights. 😂
That comment of yours sent me rolling on the floor. But of course, milk all possibilities oh thee citizen of planet earth 😂
649  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 01, 2023, 05:11:03 PM
If we start giving in to every government request and start opposing Decentralisation and privacy on a Bitcoin forum, everything Satoshi established and ideology would be for naught.
That's the worrisome part of it for me, beyond closing all discussions, links and businesses associated with mixers here. What next? Is the forum going to start freezing up each time the government sneezes? Are we going to jettison the decentralisation and anonymity that Bitcoin enlists just to yield to the aspirations of politicians? Trust me, more grounds will be asked for as compromise (directly or indirectly) in the nearest future here if this is achieved now.

BTW, why aren't these authorities harassing banks for money laundering too if their claim of seizing mixers is to prevent money laundering? I know what theymos is trying to do here is taking a preventive measure to save the forum but I also know that this isn't likely going to be the last of government wanting more grounds to be shifted.

This is, indeed, sad.

It disgusts me to read the quote in, "D". I don't even care about the nationality of the person. Organ harvesting is as disgusting as racist comments. Now tell me, how on earth will someone have such a mindset and their post is allowed to breath five minutes of readership all in the name of free press? Gosh! Kindly do the needful and delete them. A fair judgment to the best of my perspicacity will be to give temporary ban on those accounts so they all can cool off.
651  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: coin memes don't have a project? Is it worth buying for the long term? on: November 30, 2023, 08:40:06 AM
As far as I know, meme coin are just for fun and don't have a clear project.
Well, easier said than done because not everyone will understand it that way. I didn't. In 2021 I bought Safemoon and Moon Rat or so and both did extremely well. Gave me an unimaginable ROI but I didn't take profit when it did. I expected more and before I could say Jack, the whole thing vapourized into thin air. I learned from that sad experience to steer clear of memecoins. That was a sad experience.

Dogecoin is the first meme coin that I know...
I still don't classify Dogecoin as a memecoin. I'm cocksure that those who do haven't used Dogecoin. If they do, they would discover that Doge has utility as a payment coin and its swiftness of transaction is high speed. Not even Bitcoin in its period of fast confirmation comes any close to it.

653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Authorities Are Not Smart Enough to Do This on: November 28, 2023, 05:15:23 PM
The two strategies, in my estimation, for dealing with Bitcoin are to fix fiat currency and, second, to promote an approach of ignoring Bitcoin rather than attacking it. In the first strategy, all the authorities need to do is to address the issues facing traditional fiat currencies. I bet if they can do this successfully, individuals will be less motivated to seek alternatives like investing in Bitcoin.
Until we begin to realize that those who buy and hodl Bitcoin aren't doing that because they think Bitcoin is solely money. Nope, I don't think they truly believe that. They think of it as an asset, a property to be treasured. Otherwise, they won't be hodling it and then be spending fiat in its place to get their stuff. So, even if fiat is fixed (according to your word), people will still seek Bitcoin as much as they look at it as an asset to be hoarded and then sold off during a bull rally.
654  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should I still hold the investment or sell it? on: November 28, 2023, 02:03:37 PM
I don't need the money anyway, if I sell my investment now I have to deposit this money in the bank again.
Don't sell off now because doing that can leave you in deep regret as we're going into a bull run. Hodl your Bitcoin till after the halving in 2024 if you still have the urge to sell off. Otherwise, it's better to wait longer after halving for the momentum that will expectedly lead to a new ATH in 2025. By the way, you've just around $150 in Bitcoin. That isn't much if you asked me. You should find a way of buying more at every price correction from now till before its halving.
655  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Zugacoin vs bitcoin. on: November 28, 2023, 10:12:45 AM
So what do you guys think was the cause of suden dip of zugacoin?
What was responsible for the sudden dip? Well, it wasn't meant to be up there in the first place. The ATH you saw was a glitch. Sam Zuga cleverly scammed church-believing and ignorant investors with his Zugacoin. Most of those who invested weren't even interested in researching what was in the white paper of the shitcoin. I knew it was going to end as a scam from the beginning. The signs were glaring. For one, people should steer clear of any crypto project that oozes religion. Cryptocurrencies and religion don't go hand in hand. Anyone who tries to market a project to you and highlights or tells you the developers/creators/teams are christians or Muslims, know it's a scam waiting to happen.

BTW, it's abominable to compare Bitcoin with Zugacoin.
656  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why rush, instead of taking your time to learn about the forum ? on: November 28, 2023, 09:22:22 AM
These threads are helpful but I doubt newbies pay any attention to them. It’s just full member and other high rank discussing on this thread.
😂 You know that stuff they say in our local parlance about old people not being comfortable when bones are mentioned? That's the situation here. Newbies know they're being talked about here and may not feel comfortable contributing here. It's not as if they haven't stumbled on this topic.

Quote
I don’t think it’s about signature campaigns or bounties that motivates the drive to rank up. They want to discard the newbie title and feel like a part of the community. I believe it’s a ego thing.
Well, I think it's more of the drive to rank up so they can get into campaigns that drives them; not the ego thing. This is why we tend to see newbies slow down a bit once they're able to rank up and get into Bitcoin paying campaigns. I don't think anyone will feel inferior here when it's an anonymous gathering place. Those who do should know they've a greater problem than ego.
657  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Profile trick on: November 28, 2023, 08:37:02 AM
OP, I applaud your effort in showing that shortcut or hack to getting users' ID. Veteran members may think what you've done is irrelevant but I think it's helpful. At least if not for the high ranked members, it's definitely for newbies. Thus, I believe it's more appreciated in that quarters and that's for the general good of all as we've to do all we can to get the newbies properly settled in here.
658  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency is the second most popular investment in "France" on: November 28, 2023, 07:55:22 AM
I don't know how this type of news comes out whenever Bitcoin approaches a rally but I can say they're often timely. This is timely, no doubt, and it will give a push to the incoming rally and occasion a rally before a rally kind of feeling in the market. Maybe this will even suggest that more surveys be carried out across countries to ascertain their level of crypto investments. The France survey is an indication that a momentum is building up for Bitcoin. It's going to be a huge rally, I trust.

As Bitcoin gets more popular, the adoption is inevitable and more investors will be investing in the currency which is why we're still early and it'll be ideal we seize that opportunity and accumulate Bitcoin.
Frankly, literally, it will be a tragedy for anyone who's a member of this forum not to latch on to this opportunity before this coming halving to buy and hodl Bitcoin. If they wait till the rally proper begins, they're going to chase price and that's tantamount to being forewarned yet refusing to be forearmed.

I see Bitcoin forecasting as an investment and not for settling payments.
I've seen another member who agrees with my position that Bitcoin is more of an asset than a payment option. Yes, maybe Satoshi's original plan was for it to be a payment option that will cut off the bottleneck called middleman but what has given Bitcoin more coverage has been the asset part.
659  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Was This Client Kidnapped for Their Coins? on: November 27, 2023, 08:25:17 PM
I don't know how they found out that Alex gave me a job and what link they have.
I'm sure I've read this type of story here a few months ago. No doubt,  many people also read it and the unscrupulous ones amongst us in this forum could be trying something sinister. Those who contacted you might've also read it here. You've a conscience and that's why you're doing all you can to contact your client because of the upfront they had already made. Keep searching, you're likely to find him one day. However, you must be careful because many imposters will approach on this.
660  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Someone just paid 83BTC for transaction fee, on: November 27, 2023, 03:28:45 PM
I heard a few cases like this which is a very costly mistake, I didn't know if this is a newbie or not.
AFAIK, wallets that don't support RBF are those custodial wallets and I found out that the transaction mistakenly put a huge fee doesn't support RBF.
You're right. I've experienced this first hand and it still hurts me till date. Mine was $20 at a time when I felt I had set it at something around $2. I can't be too sure if it was the app that reverted it to that high or me who didn't crosscheck properly. Yes, I used a closed wallet and there wasn't an option of RBF. So, I couldn't do anything once I noticed my error immediately I had triggered the transaction. It's crazy how we get to find out our mistake once we press the trigger. I just had to quietly rue my loss. Anyway, I hope the over 80btc transaction fee was also done in error and hopefully the antpool that processed it will be able to return the excess to the originating wallet.
