661  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the next big thing? on: August 29, 2015, 05:44:51 AM
Many are forseeing the death of bitcoin. Do you believe bitcoin is going to die?
What are the possible substitutes for BTC? State your mind!

Can you set this up as a poll? How are we to know how people are responding?

I think you missed out on the initial bitcoin run and now are now trying to identify the next trend to hope onto to make a quick fortune.

You should post this over in Economics, you'll get a better and more educated (to economy and business) response.

I think you blockchain technology will be one of the next big business movements. Others that exist are the internet of things and cyber security.

Btw, who are "the many" predicting Bitcoin's death?
662  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Looking for a Rand Paul Supporter on: August 29, 2015, 05:38:21 AM
Can you provide a bit more detail on the type of help you're looking for? Does it have to do with Bitcoin in any way? What sort of effort is required? Are you offering pay?

Thanks.
663  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Multiple Signature Campaigns on: August 29, 2015, 05:28:22 AM
A better idea is to join a signature campaign that also allows or has an avatar campaign.

The signature campaign will pay more, but the avatar campaign is a nice boost. Some sign campaigns have their own avatars which will give you a bump in pay, others allow non-competing companies to have an ad in your avatar space.

Here's the link to a summary of some of the avatar campaigns (it's not an exhaustive list): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1087042.0

A signature campaign threads original post will usually state if avatars ads are allowed or not. Most sig campaigns are only against competing signatures.

Cheers.
664  Economy / Goods / Re: MY TREZOR FOR SALE on: August 29, 2015, 05:18:27 AM
May I ask why are you selling it?

This is one of the prized cold wallet options. Did it not suit you well? Just need some cash? Some issue you ran into?

This knowledge may help you generate interest from potential buyers.

Also, do you pay for shipping?
665  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTB] Large stack of useless currency on: August 29, 2015, 05:16:19 AM
WOW - i'm surprised how many people here are interested in buying fiat that others think is "worthless". Are all you interested buyers really just fiat bugs at heart? It sounds like you're not as committed to bitcoin or want to hedge your bets by owning a ton of fiat while the price is low. I'm just speculating of course, but I feel like it's a valid question...

...what's your interest in buying "stacks of worthless currency"?
666  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 1BTC Casascius Silver Round /w Gold B - MS-69 on: August 29, 2015, 05:12:43 AM
Well that's what ANACS graded it as and you can confirm the serial number on their website.

It's not a nick just a very light impression that pretty much all the coins have.

Obviously this coin isn't for an amateur collector such as yourself.

And I will post much better pictures as I did before for all of the 10BTC and 1BTC coins I have listed before... I just don't have the time right now and I'm not desperate like most poor people on this forum.

Wow. That's pretty condescending, don't you think? Are you always so friendly?  Roll Eyes

Seconded...no need to add insult to the interest (and you haven't had much). The question of the photo quality due to the appearance  of a nick was fair.  I don't have a nick in my silver w/gold B. Mine hasn't been sent to ANACS, but maybe I should...sounds like I have a perfect MS70!
667  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to safely store btc and be able to send/receive small amounts at a time on: August 29, 2015, 03:55:19 AM
Hi, I'm slightly unclear if you're looking for a wallet for transactions, a wallet for storage, or a wallet to use with alternative crypto currencies. I suspect it may be a combination of all three.

There's a great site that will help you sort out the options that might best for you, check it out: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

The only type of wallet it doesn't cover is cold, offline wallets.

Good luck to you!
668  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I love Google. on: August 28, 2015, 10:39:44 PM
It reads like you asked something to be done because you suspected fraud. Would closing your wallet not be an acceptable response from them? Like a bank closes an account if it's been compromised by fraud?
669  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: My new bitcoinfaucet on: August 28, 2015, 05:13:52 PM
I checked out the faucet. The UI is easy but the UX is a bit clunky, the ads busy up and drown out the actually "claim reward" area.

A few thoughts:
  • Payment is dust of dust...100 satoshi every 6 hours is truly "not worth it" and a 33% referral bonus doesn't help because there's no reason for a referral to use the faucet since the payout is so low
  • Threshold for payment is too high (at 13,000 satoshi), you make us wait 130 reward claims before we can pull out our funds?! At 6 hours per reward that's 32.5 days of constant reward requests (i.e., requesting a reward every 6 hours, 24 hours a day, for 32.5 days)
  • The earnings history and progress to payment charts are good, more faucets should show some metrics like that - freebitco.in does but xapo does not

Keep refining what you're offering, be willing to invest more on the front end, the current set up is not likely to get you any repeat users, which is what you need to make a faucet profitable.
Well on faucetbox there are also other faucets, I'm going to change the payout time soon. I think a referral could be worth it. And you're describing faucetbox.com now xD.
Try moving this topic to Micro earnings board.

It was posted by a brand new account.  It is likely someone trying to get a few views here.  I think he/she knows the rules.
Yeah, I'm brand new, sadly don't know the rules. How can I change it to a different sub-forum? I can't delete it, sorry for being a newbie to this forum.
Thanks for your help

You should take a lesson from Faucetbox, the stats are helpful. So is your faucet part of the faucetbox "family" of faucets? If I go to multiple faucets do all of those payments contribute toward my payment threshold? You should compete with faucetbox and take design and operational cues from Xapo (see my profile for a link) and Freebitco.in.

Freebitco.in pays 51x your payment in a 6 hour period...that's a crushing difference. Xapo can pay significantly more, but it depends on how frequently you decide to play Xapo. If you play every 5 minutes you'll make significantly more than any other faucet, if you play once or twice a day you'll make less than other faucets but still significantly more than  your site. At the current payout once can earn 400 satoshi per 34 hours...that's nothing. You can afford to give your customers more. Your ad payments are making you SIGNIFICANTLY more than what you're paying out.
670  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: My new bitcoinfaucet on: August 28, 2015, 05:07:20 PM
You (currently) can't compete with this kind of payout...

And that's the bar that you need to meet to be able to have success in the faucet business. Don't get discouraged, just keep making your site better!

Hi Magee,

Welcome to the Forum!

You likely won't get the answers you need from this post in the Beginner's board. You should make the same post over in the Economics - Speculation board, here's the link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=57.0

You could find what you need from reading various threads or just ask the same questions you did here over there and I'm sure you'll have plenty of people sharing their opinions.

Good luck to you and your trading!
673  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I love Google. on: August 28, 2015, 04:53:07 AM
None of the messages you shared even hint at the reason why they closed your account, let alone mention Bitcoin.

I think you need to give us more proof that Google shutdown your wallet due to bitcoin transactions. It seems REALLY unlikely that using a Google wallet to buy Bitcoin would be a reason for them to shut you down. They're not in the business of stifling options, creativity or innovation...in fact they are a business that operates under the opposite objective. Plus, Google sits in the heart of Silicon Valley, one of the central locations for Bitcoin success!

Pictures or didn't happen...

You dont see the threat of bitcoin for Google, REALLY!?

No. Google doesn't have a competing currency, they have an account and payments system. If Google feels they're losing fiat business to bitcoin they can allow bitcoin to be one of the currencies people can transact with. It's synonymous to PayPal...it's agnostic of currency choice.

This is really clever but unfortunately we can't know what the container of a hash has so we don't know what did you said. What was the word that generated this hash?

It's sha256 of BITCOIN

Best.

676  Economy / Economics / Re: Why You Should Never Sell Your Bitcoins Ever on: August 28, 2015, 12:17:09 AM
Yes, i believe to that bitcoin will not stop here. this is the first time that the price go down. The bitcoin is spreading every day more and this a clear sign of its success. Its volatility is known it it will be such since the time when it will be well known and it will be mature as a currency. I will not sell my bitcoin.

That is true that we don't want to sell all our bitcoins as we believe that the value would reach to a next level in the future, but What in the case of emergency when you really need money? I think at that time we need to focus on our priorities and even if we need to sell a part of bitcoins that would not make a huge difference as we know we are capable of earning it in the future too  Grin

The answer is that you always spend what you need to survive (for your emergencies)...and you keep as much as you can. Now if you don't have all your assets in bitcoin then you can keep a portion of fiat in fiat to cover those potential emergencies while keeping a separate stash of bitcoin for future appreciation.

The concept of savings doesn't change with bitcoin, it's just a different currency.
677  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think Bitcoins has a great future in India? on: August 28, 2015, 12:15:04 AM
Bitcoin has a great future anywhere there is electricity and commerce.

You need electricity to access the blockchain.

You need commerce to provide opportunity for bitcoin to be obtained or used.

I think it's that simple.

So India? Yes.
678  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Shooting Faked? Video on: August 27, 2015, 08:46:58 PM
I was going to post about this. I find it incredibly sick that people who love her are talking on the news all day... and tweeting about it, etc.

But it "could" be real. Don't you think it's a bit sad that we have to wonder if it's real or not?

Here's a couple videos to check out:

Virginia Shooting Hoax Agenda 'We’ve Got to Do Something About Crazy People Getting Guns’

Virginia WDBJ Shooting Hoax FULLY Exposed! Complete Breakdown Of The Event - 100% Busted

You may not belief everything you hear, but there's some good discussion about tweets and video.

Dude, you just posted links to the people who produced the live leak video talking about their video...of course they're going to support there bullshit conspiracy claims.

They probably could see someone standing there, out of the "corner of their eye" but could easily not see that there was a gun (since they would never expect there to be one) and they're not going to stop the interview just because someone walks up. That kind of stuff happens all the time when a newscast is being broadcast.

I can explain away all of the points that they're spending the entire discussion repeating.

The only thing that's suspect about this is that there were people ready to claim "hoax" within 48 hours of it happening...almost like they were waiting for anything to come along to use as an opportunity to gain some fame. These guys disgrace Canada!
679  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Shooting Faked? Video on: August 27, 2015, 08:37:08 PM
So, all of these people were in on it and now 3 people have to change their identities and move far away to perpetuate the hoax.

Or...one guy shot 3 people, one of which survived, then shot himself.

Exactly. Conspiracy theorists will make a conspiracy out of absolutely anything at all. Please someone tell me what would be the benefit of faking this incident and for what motives?

Well, I'm no conspiracy theorist, but given the fact that Hillary Clinton and Obama both immediately jumped on the gun control wagon, yet again, I would say a lot stands to benefit. Of course, the rational side of me thinks that Hillary jumped on it so quickly because she wanted to use this tragedy to deflect some of the heat away from her email mess. She is heartless.

WOW...do you think before you write stuff like this? Of course they would, they're for gun control and this tragedy represents an opportunity for them to point the finger and say "see, guns are bad, we need to control them!"

The fact that you can try to spin their logical response into a weave of conspiracy theory that has zero logic or motive or reason behind it is hilarious (first) and sad (second).

Reporter shooting fake?

m.liveleak.com/view?i=b0c_1440615353

The person who posted this video implies a tone of inaccuracies too. The station was just reporting on a shooting drill at college, they weren't in on it or "working with authorities". There are impacts, you can see the woman's body move in reaction.

What conspiracy, what reason for "faking" this would exist? That's one key bit of information that no one can seem to come up with...
