661  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: RedotPay Crypto Virtual Card & Pysical card. on: January 14, 2024, 12:09:03 PM
I believe I can withdraw from ATMs where NFC-supported ATM machines are available.
~snip~

You can try, but I don't think you will be able to withdraw money at contactless ATMs, because I also researched that option, but although most virtual cards have the option of paying through POS devices using Google (Pay) Wallet or something similar, withdrawing cash at ATMs is disabled.
662  Economy / Economics / Re: Vitalik Buterin's Financial Advice on: January 14, 2024, 11:39:38 AM
~snip~
What are Your thoughts about his financial advice guys? I like the first and 2nd which I've been doing by myself too.

It is completely stupid that you post such basic advice on a forum, and it is even more stupid that the same advice comes from someone who is supposed to be intelligent, but actually turns out to be a classic attention-seeking troll.

Quote
Save. Get to the point where you have enough to cover multiple years of expenses. Financial safety is freedom.

Who does this advice apply to? Maybe people who work 8 hours a day, 6 days a week and at the end of the month get a salary that is not enough to cover the expenses of 20 days of life? Vitalik, like all those shitcoin creators, has definitely accumulated a lot of money and can enjoy his financial freedom - which is very easy if you have an altcoin that is premined and has unlimited max supply.
663  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Spot ETFs approved, Bitcoin is not fraud. Where is Jamie Dimon? on: January 14, 2024, 11:21:10 AM
His comments still matters??? I thought Bitcoin community had forgotten and forgiven Jemie for his childish comments long back.
~snip~

As strange as it may seem, many people have the need to constantly listen and watch people like Jamie, Buffett, Mr. Mars or Gates because they admire them for some reason. I believe that many respect their opinion to the extent that they want nothing to do with Bitcoin because of their views.

Sheep always follow the leader of the flock, so let's say that one Saylor has only 3.2 million followers on shitter, and Mr. Mars even has 169 million followers. There is no doubt about whose opinion people value more.
664  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ETF on: January 13, 2024, 03:38:44 PM
~snip~
Are there any sources that proof that the institutional investors really already hold relevant amounts of bitcoins?

I read in some posts on the forum that BlackRock bought a certain amount of BTC in the months before the approval, and that all the funds had the right to do so, but I have not seen the exact amounts and who bought how much. What is known is that Grayscale has practically been converted into an ETF, and that it has (so they claim) more than 600 000 BTC in its possession. Given that they have been buying BTC for years, they are probably in the best position compared to other companies.

In the first day of trading of the long anticipated U.S.based spot bitcoin exchange traded funds, investors began buying and selling shares among ten SEC approved funds. Based on early volume numbers (see table below) the largest bitcoin fund, $28 billion Grayscale BitcoinBTC 0.0% Trust, saw the most shares change hands with volume surpassing $2 billion.
665  Other / Meta / Re: Just a common sence. on: January 13, 2024, 03:04:37 PM
Sorry, but I don't truly completely understand what the description of the problem is.
~snip~

The "problem", if we can call it that at all, is that the OP probably does not understand what "sMerits" are and probably thinks of the number of merits that each member has in their profile as something that should be shared with others - and when in the whole include the Bible in the story, then the meaning of his post would be "ask and it will be given to you".

I would suggest that before philosophizing about the merits, the OP definitely works on spelling - because it's not "sence", but sense.
666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin commercials on: January 13, 2024, 12:06:02 PM
I have seen several commercials promoting ETF on various business TV programs in the US, but it is nothing strange to see such commercials on US television, just as it is nothing strange that Bitcoin and various altcoins are mentioned very often on such TV programs. Maybe that's why the average American is much more aware that Bitcoin exists, although it must be honestly said that this entire advertising campaign is aimed exclusively at investment, and that it is very rare to see someone talking about Bitcoin as a currency.
667  Economy / Speculation / Re: BitcoinETF approval will possibly cause much bigger jump than most people expect on: January 13, 2024, 11:43:16 AM
~snip~
Now that the SEC has given the green light for spot ETFs, I wonder what Bitcoin haters will say? I'm referring to Jamie Dimon and Senator Elizabeth Warren. With legitmate use cases for Bitcoin, they would have nothing to say or point at. Cheesy

They will say what they said before, because their opinion has not and will not change because the SEC, under the pressure of Grayscale and other companies, was simply pushed into a corner and had no choice but to approve the spot ETF. I have already quoted several times what Gensler wrote regarding their decision, and here we must clearly distinguish that the law is one thing, and personal opinion is something completely different.

As for the approval itself, it seems that the expectations were much higher than what actually happened, and it is quite possible that investors will not show much more interest in the spot ETF than was the case with futures BTC ETFs.
668  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Spot ETFs approved, Bitcoin is not fraud. Where is Jamie Dimon? on: January 12, 2024, 11:48:53 AM
Why should anyone care what Jamie Dimon or any other banker thinks about Bitcoin? It is quite normal that all bankers (or the majority) have a negative opinion about Bitcoin, which is completely opposite to what they do and what they make profits from. Of course, as people who are always looking for ways to make money, bankers will look for ways to profit from Bitcoin, but never in a way that they will treat it as a currency.

I see that most people on this forum live in the illusion that the approval of spot BTC ETFs in the US is a sign that "they", and especially Gensler, think positively about Bitcoin, but the truth is that nothing has changed in this regard.

"We did not approve or endorse bitcoin," Gensler said. "Investors should remain cautious about the myriad risks associated with bitcoin and products whose value is tied to crypto."

In fact, he said that bitcoin "is primarily a speculative, volatile asset that’s also used for illicit activity including ransomware, money laundering, sanction evasion and terrorist financing."
669  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Can't open/find Electrum app in Windows a year+ after installation on: January 12, 2024, 11:16:06 AM
@JosN, we can find similar examples when various users had similar problems with versions 3.x.x on W10 and it was mostly about some kind of incompatibility problem with the OS or even hardware. At this moment, it might be best to describe your problem in detail on Electrum GitGub, and one of the developers will try to help you.

Of course, before that you can try to install the latest version of Electrum, but before that try to see if there is any important update for W11.

670  Other / Meta / Re: Spammy posts - Mods pls take action on: January 12, 2024, 10:51:55 AM
~snip~
Does anyone else think these are AI/bot-generated posts?  I swear it looks like someone is trying out some software or code for making posts about bitcoin.  The posts are well written enough to pass as genuine ones (albeit insipid garbage), and I wonder why anyone would try account farming at any point after the merit system was created--and especially now that everyone is on the lookout for bullshit like this.  I don't know what this one-man clown car was thinking.

It is possible that the posts were generated by AI, but in a way that they were generated by some AI as a task, because that is one of the ways that AI is trained. However, it seems to me that this is the work of human hands in an attempt to first create a certain activity for all these accounts, and then reward them with merits - which means that very quickly you get a bunch of Jr.Member accounts that can participate in bounty campaigns or can be used for some other purposes.

Anyway, the topic is locked, and so far I don't see that BPIP shows that any of the newbie accounts are permanently banned
671  Economy / Reputation / Re: 3 Consecutive years on: January 12, 2024, 10:20:51 AM
I am 1 of those that Lucius mentioned that would say 3 years isn't that long considering I have been here for almost 10 and active the whole time. Congrats on 3 years active I guess.

I have been active on the forum since mid-2015, which would be about 8 years, and there are very few who have been active for 10 or more years like you. Maybe 3 years is not that long, but if we take into account the way today's young people think, for most of them it is a very long period, especially if you look at that time in the context of the activities on the forum.

It is interesting that you registered on the forum around the time when I visited it for the first time as a guest, and I only became a member about a year later - which translated into activity means that according to BPIP you are in 56th place compared to me which I am 112 on that list.

Thank you; you're one of the members that I totally enjoy talking to, even on a casual basis. I find it significant to have a few forum pals that you can talk to and support each other.

As I already wrote, it would be sad if all this was just for money Wink
672  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Can't open/find Electrum app in Windows a year+ after installation on: January 11, 2024, 04:20:13 PM

A few years ago I installed the Electrum wallet for Windows.
---
I did find the Program Files, for example: electrum-4.2.2.exe... I clicked on it but nothing happens.

You did not write which version of Windows you have - is it perhaps W7? From what can be read, versions 4.2.x of Electrum do not support W7. You can find more information at this link -> https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/issues/7728

673  Other / Meta / Re: Spammy posts - Mods pls take action on: January 11, 2024, 04:04:31 PM
Not quite the clever way to do alt farm, but apparently some have bitten the hook and entered into a discussion with someone who clearly has no sincere intentions. I agree that the thread should be deleted, and all these false newbies should be nuked. I will also report that thread with a reference to this topic, so we'll see what the mods decide.
674  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you have a hard time bringing new people to the forum? on: January 11, 2024, 03:41:07 PM
one of my main target was to introduce Bitcoin and this forum to as many people as I could.
Why? I like my privacy, and talking about Bitcoin to strangers is terrible OPSEC.
~snip~

Obviously, there are very big differences in terms of personal safety when it comes to people from African countries, as is the case with the OP, and all those who live in Europe or the US/UK. It is easy to notice that they often post photos from their meetings/lectures, their location, and even personal information such as age and name.

I think they are much more emotional and eager to share it with others and not worry too much about their safety. It seems dangerous and unnecessary to us, but it is difficult to change anything in this matter until for one reason or another, the change happens by itself.
675  Economy / Reputation / Re: 3 Consecutive years on: January 11, 2024, 12:00:14 PM
Anyone who has been active on the forum for many years (without doing bad things and earning a bad reputation) deserves respect. Some may say that 3 years continuously is not much, but everyone who thinks so should try to be active for at least 3 months and they will see how easy/difficult it really is.

Given that I was mentioned by the OP, I can only say that I'm glad if I was able to help and provide support in anything that could be of help. I can only wish that the OP continues to be an active and good member of this community, and at the end of the day, it would be a shame if everything on this forum was only about profit and the question of the price of Bitcoin, right?
676  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Robbery on: January 11, 2024, 11:45:53 AM
It seems that the OP is a real magnet for criminals, and in addition, he is quite naive, considering that @lovesmayfamilis found another story that, combined with the recent event, only confirms that some people unfortunately do not even learn from their own mistakes.

What people doing his job should take as precautionary measures is definitely to meet unknown people in public places where there are a lot of people and cameras, but before that they insist on having a video interview with those same people. Furthermore, personal protection should include at least some stun device or a firearm, because walking around with that amount in your pocket is nothing but inviting trouble.
677  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New opinion of PlanB on: January 11, 2024, 11:19:54 AM
This will be interesting to see.  If before the next Halving we will see Bitcoin priced at half a million Dollars then I will from then on believe every thing is possible with Bitcoin.
~snip~

I think that we have discussed many times in various discussions that it is not too realistic to expect that the price of Bitcoin will increase after the next halvings, as it was in the past. The last 2020 halving "produced" only x3.5 compared to the one before it ($20 -> $69k) and we have to wonder if the next one could cause a price increase of x12 compared to the current value?

Some quite wrongly believe that past events regarding the price can just be repeated, but we cannot consider it the same as raising the price by x10 from $100 to $1000 or doing the same today.
678  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 11, 2024, 10:57:08 AM
I think market, again, might have surprised most participants.  Many expected a huge pump / dump upon approval.  But we went sideways.
And instead of BTC price action shitcoins started pumping. funny how that works.

Market is waiting for the Twitter message from SECGov.
Fake ETF Approval message at Twitter -> green candle
No message at Twitter -> sideways

Perhaps the point is that the official attitude towards Bitcoin has not generally changed when it comes to the SEC (Gensler), but as he himself says, the approval of the spot BTC ETF is actually the result of the fact that they were forced to do so due to the court decision in the case of the Grayscale lawsuit which they lost.

Besides, when someone says the following, it doesn't really encourage the market (investors) who still respect the opinion of people like Gensler.

And Gensler sought to make it clear that these ETF sign-offs don't pave the way for any further action from the U.S. securities regulator.
"It should in no way signal the commission’s willingness to approve listing standards for crypto asset securities," he said. "Nor does the approval signal anything about the commission’s views as to the status of other crypto assets under the federal securities laws or about the current state of non-compliance of certain crypto asset market participants with the federal securities laws."
679  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New opinion of PlanB on: January 10, 2024, 04:27:33 PM

He forgot to say that he failed miserably in his predictions in this cycle, revising them downward as time went on, and yet he was still failing:

That's right, he is one of those whose model didn't come true, and instead of apologizing to people for leading them in the wrong direction, he now wants to "profit" again with a new model that, regardless of the halving+possible approval of the ETF, really looks unrealistic. The model simply cannot be successfully applied to Bitcoin.

Lol if you're selling just before the halving because one person is making crazy predictions then you have no idea what you are doing lol. Reminds me of the people a in 2019 and 2020 who were waiting for it to get back close to $20k to sell hahaha
~snip~

I would not dare to advise people what to do with their investments, but this is definitely the wrong time to sell if we still believe that the halving will have a similar effect as it was the case in the past. However, some speculate that the rejection of spot ETF approval could result in a correction, and someone who would sell today might make a good move.

After 1 year? Why now and what have I done wrong?

Some members of the forum are very easy on the trigger, and they especially enjoy when they can leave red feedback to someone, regardless of whether it is justified or not. Considering who you got that feedback from, I'm not at all surprised that you got it, but why it took him 1 year to do it is a question only for him.

However, no one else but you is to blame for what is happening to you - because if you deal with things that are not moral or according to the rules of the forum, sooner or later something like this will happen to you. I would suggest that you calm down and don't provoke someone else who will add new red feedback to your profile - and the red tag is not something that prevents people from participating in signature campaigns today.
