Hmm did someone ( of them) just sold 5k down to .011 @ cryptsy 5 hours ago?
Please, when you sell don't do it at too low price  to encourage this ( if happened)

It sounds like they were sold at a higher price, since he said "they're still happy today and are long term holders anyway"

It wasn't my buyers who sold, I saw their masternodes going up, hence the change in countries hosting, they are long term MN-ers np, they had a cushion for just this sort of event but not enough to be worth flipping them and I checked them out thoroughly first as well, not everyone is just after a fast buck that harms their long term interest.

btw, do you by any chance happen to know if there exists a data base for the recipients of the Order of Lenin medal, they are individually numbered on the reverse, I received one a couple of days ago which was nice synchronicity with all the Russian news, it's #182331

There is no open database (just general information - your number was issued aprox. 1950-1960) - but these are some "services" who can find info. it is not easy and not cheap - usually for people who want to find their relatives and so on...

Many thanks, as it's not personal I won't follow it up, much appreciate the info that I could if I wished to though & the era.

My unofficial DASH promo-VIDEO  №1 «Dash is the best alternative to Bitcoin»

Hi everybody, I discovered video editing program on my computer - so I decided to produce amateur Dash video from clips.
It is only on Russian yet (voice is not mine, but professional narrator). I hope you will enjoy it, will help me to produce it for other languages and will use it to spread the word!

https://dashtalk.org/threads/my-unofficial-dash-video-1-dash-is-the-best-alternative-to-bitcoin.5818/

Thanks for all guys who helped me with advice, especially poiuty and tungfa.

Production of this video spent not only my time, I also had fiat expenses, so any donations (DASH: XxG6WRPA5ef767m37eEbGjK8T1UPAVGdCq) are appreciated.
I will also appreciate if you help me to produce native sound-overs for other languages (you can use my transcript or fill this video with your own completely different ideas). Send me a message - I will tell you what to do exactly to make it real.
The task and best reward for me - thousands of views to PR Dash proper way.

Dash is decentralized project - so please remember: everyone can produce its own amateur Dash promo materials - «Just do it»! Smiley
Symbolic 1 DASH sent. C'mon people!
Bravo Alex!

Thank you and others: already got 4 donations = 8 DASH altogether.

If sum could reach 70 DASH - this will make me happy (it is not about paying "salary" for my efforts (I am doing it for free), but about compensation of production's direct expenses). Thanks!

Symbolic 2 DASH sent. C'mon people!  Grin

Thanks for the video, i enjoyed it. I hope we will see some english language in it some day...

donated, many thanks, great vid!

685  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Cyber currencies conference, trusts and legal aspects, London & Channel Islands. on: August 07, 2015, 02:41:02 AM
I saw a press release about this conference, did you manage to attend - how was it?

I think that he was not at the conference

I most certainly was at the conference along with two friends that I invited, it was very professionally organized and they did a ton of background research and write ups in preparation for it.

It was really fun, mostly their focus was how trustees would handle crypto currencies either for people who set the trusts up or for the beneficiaries of them, what the legal implications may be and the potential hazards - there were a ton of high powered legal guys there who specialized in trust biz, law firms, barristers and a QC,  in effect they took it very seriously though in a light hearted way, they could see that they would have to be dealing with this new type of asset/money/currency/commodity/whatever and they were brainstorming about what is was exactly and how they would best treat it, they looked into a lot of case law that may or not apply and reviewed current regulation and the ongoing reach out for consultation from the Jersey authorities on this.

They also had a fun scenario with a mock trial of a pretend crypto coin, Minioncoin, where a kind of Mt. Gox happened and we all took different roles in the mock trial, mostly it was very enjoyable to be the one person who happened to know most there about crypto amongst so many very smart suits who happened to be looking in to it for probably the first time.

I emailed them already regarding DRK = Dash + if and when Ruble pair

The topic of this thread is Dash.  If you could respect that, it would be great.

Ditto for Otoh.

Did we lose some MN's?

For me Dashninja is showing:

Total Masternodes: 2939 = 2902 actives + 37 inactives [2682 unique IPs] (Last refresh: Mon Aug 03 2015 3:15:53 PM)

It looks pretty normal to me,  I do remember there is a new investor potentially buying 100 K DASH  OTC, so those nodes may go down and back up at some point if the deal happens.

Not sure which is more correct atm:

http://178.254.18.153/~pub/masternode_count.png @ 2,919 or

https://dash-stats.firebaseapp.com @ 2,896 ?

Mine are still all up, but yes there well could be approx 100 MN changing hands OTC early this week which will show up in the total live as they are taken down and set up elsewhere, better distribution of coins and voting, also it was the buyer who approached me for this deal, four others are also showing interest with amounts from 600 DASH to a few MN worth and a possible for 25 MN, once these have completed then I will be much more reluctant to part with any I imagine.

Many thanks for the thumbs up ToS, rh & tok Smiley

In the interests of transparency I have to confess that I may have been inadvertently depressing the price a little recently, good for buyers though, it seems the new regular buyer that I have for some of my rewards is just flipping them in order to make the small amount of difference from the rate I offer him and the market price, this is fine as he does all the work and takes the exchange risks ect, but up until now I've only sold to people who were setting up new masternodes, the amount so far is 12 x 460 DASH approx since he started a couple of weeks ago, I kind of feel I owe him a favor as he honored a big deal with me way back when the bank froze his accounts for dealing on local BTC.

I've also sold 22 BTC worth of DASH in the last week on Cryptsy, not really in my interests to be weakening the price when large buys are in the offing but I wanted to use 'dash' money to get BTC in order to build up a war chest in a fiat currency as I'd been asked to market make if/when DASH is added to a new exchange, this should happen very soon all being well and the locals can look forward to some nice orders on the books when it kicks off, I'll send a thousand or two of DASH as well so that there are plenty of both bid and ask liquidity at attractive prices and maybe some arb opportunities too if I'm feeling generous.

Why does the network have so much new capacity with this release ?

IX capacity has always been better than PoW capacity, as you're not having to wait for the whole lumbering Proof-of-Waste farce, you're getting consensus from a much smaller group of nodes.

Without PoW consensus I feel like this is becoming dangerous territory: If the subset of elected IX-nodes is small enough, wouldn't someone like Otoh with over 600 MNs have a good chance that a TX is entirely in his domain? What would stop an attacker from reversing an IX-tx before it hits the miners, when all consensus nodes are controlled by one person?

You have it exactly backwards, MN subsetting is tens of thousands of times more secure than PoW.

If there are 600 compromised nodes out of 3000, and you need 10 of those 3000 to beat the system, the chances that all of the 10 needed nodes for any one IX will be among the 600 compromised nodes are miniscule.

Roughly, (600/3000)^10 = 0.000000102

Evil-Otoh will be waiting a long time to bugger up a single IX.

There's a reason hierarchical structures arise in nature and society - efficiency. Societal hierarchies are easy targets for compromise because they are essentially static, they provide fixed targets. Pooled mining is a good example of an this, it's a vulnerability, not an asset.

Overlay networks like Masternodes are a fluid hierarchy and vastly more resilient to attack.

I realize that there has been a bit of concern from some re the number of MN under one person's control so by happy synchronicity I am copying part of an email that I sent today to one of my the MN management services:

I'm in advanced discussions to sell a bunch of my DASH, this should be good as it gives better distribution of coins, one person is thinking about it over the weekend while making preparations for it and if he decides to go ahead then that would be early next week, even Monday, if so I will need to take down approx 102 masternodes to fund this, he will be putting them back up straight away. I'll announce this beforehand on the BCT forum so as not to surprise people especially when they're watching the total get so near 3,000 MN atm.

I've also just being put into contact with another buyer who apparently is after approx 25,000 DASH so if that goes through it will mean sacrificing another 25 or so minions more.

I'll try to give you as much notice as possible, it does seem that the large one is quite likely to go ahead as he says he's 99% OK with it and just needs to make sure everything is set up correctly and that he hasn't overlooked any details, he's always been a very reliable person to do biz with in the past and has been considering this move for a good while now.

It's certainly encouraging to see such large amounts of new money going into backing the project and I hope that they both do very well.

700  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: July 29, 2015, 11:36:32 AM
Hm, today if someone (Otoh) owns, for example, 1000 MNs, he gets ~ 516.9 DASH per day, so he can produce 1 new MN every 2 days (15 MNs per month). How does community rate this fact in case of DASH decentralization?

I have 642 MN under my control, with approx 30 of those that I manage for other people, this number has been constant for quite a while now as others are buying all the rewards that I care to spare atm to set up their own masternodes mostly, though one guy who buys regularly actively trades the coins I see.

Edit, thanks alex-ru, yep the % of the total number of MN that I hold has been decreasing recently, I'm pretty happy with my present number.
