1381  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will 1 BTC = $1,000 Prize Competition. on: October 29, 2013, 08:12:39 PM
$1000 will be after next reward for block halving IMHO.

So 2017 then, that's when I predict mass adoption in the US, once some funds & trusts kick in over the next year or two I expect we'll see + $1000 np & an epic bubble/s.

1382  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will 1 BTC = $1,000 Prize Competition. on: October 29, 2013, 07:25:40 PM
I think we need to decide now, whether it is $500 or $750. Rules must be clear.

My proposal is $750.

(Bitcoin's average growth rate is 0.65% per day and using this average, it takes 44 days from $750 to $1000.)

I'm cool with $750, 1 vote so far from participants for that, 2 if you count me - I'm going to play but am letting others choose any of the more likely dates first.
1383  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will 1 BTC = $1,000 Prize Competition. on: October 29, 2013, 06:53:21 PM
Thanks for the input, I'll go with whatever most participants recommend, yep $750 is still plenty far enough away from $1000 to be an OK cut off point, I don't see that it needs to be set in stone as early as possible as people can continue to choose further dates as it goes along & all money in the pot goes to the eventual winner, maybe I've missed why it would be better to decide on this early - if so please let me know anyone who prefers that.

I guess it would matter if the price went from $200-ish to $400 plus really fast, then sure it would be best to decide on the cut off level, I think we still have a while though, ie no dates from 2013 picked so far..

Litecoin's Horoscope for week of October 31, 2013

What do you think you'd be like if you were among the one-percent-wealthiest people on Earth? Would you demand that your government raise your taxes so you could contribute more to our collective well-being? Would you live simply and cheaply so you'd have more money to donate to charities and other worthy causes? This Halloween season, I suggest you play around with fantasies like that -- maybe even masquerade as an incredibly rich philanthropist who doles out cash and gifts everywhere you go. At the very least, imagine what it would be like if you had everything you needed and felt so grateful you shared your abundance freely.

Naturalist John Burroughs may have been addressing your current needs when he wrote the following: "The lesson which life constantly enforces is 'Look underfoot.' You are always nearer to the true sources of your power than you think. The lure of the distant and the difficult is deceptive. The great opportunity is where you are. Every place is the center of the world."

Bitcoin's Horoscope for week of October 31, 2013

http://www.freewillastrology.com/horoscopes/tarot_cards/tarot23.jpg   I invite you to try the following exercise. Imagine the most powerful role you could realistically attain in the future. This is a position or niche or job that will authorize you to wield your influence to the max. It will give you the clout to shape the environments you share with other people. It will allow you to freely express your important ideas and have them be treated seriously. Let your imagination run a little wild as you visualize the possibilities. Incorporate your visions into your Halloween costume.

1386  Economy / Gambling / Re: [dicenow.com] btc/ltc casino - 10,000 rolls per click - play/invest - multi edge on: October 29, 2013, 04:34:38 PM
Many thanks for the comprehensive update 001sonkit, kasog took my share of the bank roll to the cleaners, but nice to know how it happened. We can certainly expect the house to be down overall sometimes especially in the early days.

Otoh, I guess you are one of the major investor on the LTC department Tongue right? The guy betting LTC crazily is my friend met in BTC-DICE (copycat dice in the perspective of Just Dice). He deposited plenty of LTC intended to be the house, with 2x kelly. But you know Chinese are all gamblers, so this happened.
I am really glad to have invested here with a decent leverage from the beginning and loot myself some coins (doubled in fact). Once i took >50% of the BTC1%. But with more and more investor coming in I am now down to 20%. Anyway, investing is just a gamble to your "opponents" that they will lose, and the odds of winning tends to our side.

Expect with the update soon with Chinese (our dearest pitboss knows Chinese) that we can take plenty of Chinese customer from the laggy and buggy BTC-DICE (I will be able to help review the translation) to DiceNow. I've also chat with pitboss that DiceNow is considering to have ad when they have finish the translation and improve some minor bits and kasog will be kind enough to help negotiate price of ads with btc123.com (a site for coin ticker, directory, charts etc)

Hope Dicenow all the best Smiley

Just in case you think I am talking too much, I am just a user, a user too active to ask pitboss everything. I am not his spokeman, just in case any confusion

That all sounds excellent news, yep I'm a fairly large backer as I thought that would be best for the site & for litecoin at the beginning, once it's more established I'd certainly like to try more gambling there too - but will just invest for now.

Congrats to your friend, I'm happy that he's playing & winning, again something that helps the site & ltc atm imo, even if he is looting from my investment stash right now.

Interest payments are falling fast, (mine from 3.59 btc last week down to 2.50 btc this week), giga I would appreciate if you could reply to my post of a week ago, I know that others are interested to hear your answer to these changing circumstances as I was PMed after, thanks.
1388  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will 1 BTC = $1,000 Prize Competition. on: October 29, 2013, 11:42:33 AM
It seems that all is well with the date allocations, after getting some advice I have now removed the cut off date for entries & changed it to a BTC price one, but this remains flexible & it will be up to those who participate to decide how long they wish it to be open for further entries, in any case good notice will be given.

OP changed to:

Please express dates as YYYY MM DD or as 29th Feb 2017 say, entries will be closed on the 1st May 2014 when the Bitcoin price hits $500 (but this may be extended by popular demand up to say $750-ish if the majority of those playing wish). Closest guess wins obviously, dates are by GMT/UTC time.

I hope I got that right now, if not then I will just roll everyone affected forward a bit, please let me know if any of you see that it's still incorrect, many thanks.

Many thanks 600watt & cheech300 that is most generous, 2.01 btc is the prize now.

600watt - Good luck with 2014 03 25 ! Smiley

What if the trades are occurring though a trust?

I'll have to think about that, it may be simplest just to stick with the largest exchange...

OK, thought some more, if the trust or fund has the highest volume on that day & the trade is public, then yes that would definitely count, I've added that to the OP, many thanks for the suggestion.

Edited OP to add: See jimbobway's post, also if a trust or fund, ETF etc, (like WBT or BIT), even an FBI auction for that matter, if it has the highest volume on the day & the trade is public (Bloomberg terminals count), then yes that would definitely be OK.

What exchange is the one? Bitstamp, mtgox or??

We perfer bitstamp! But you decide!

It's stated in the OP, whichever exchange at the time has the highest volume. Also now added the edit above to the OP for trusts, funds, etc.
1398  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will 1 BTC = $1,000 Prize Competition. on: October 28, 2013, 02:24:45 PM
Very clever idea, and nicely thought-out system. The more probable dates will start to get selected soon Smiley

Is it so that if the exact date is not selected, prize goes to you (or to the nearest guess)?

As per OP the nearest guess wins, if 2 ppl were to be equi-distant, then it would be split between them I guess is the fairest.

It's a charity promotional non profit competition for me, unless I happen to enter & win Wink

& I will be entering, just letting you guys get the pick of the most likely dates first Smiley
1399  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: announcement: the international "when-bitcoin-reaches 1000,- $ party" on: October 28, 2013, 01:01:26 PM
If anyone would like to guess on what date 1 BTC = $1000, I made a prize competition for it, winner gets my donation of 1 BTC plus all entry fees which are 0.01 BTC per date chosen.

1400  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will 1 BTC = $1,000 Prize Competition. on: October 28, 2013, 11:54:55 AM
Yep, I'm on the guest list over there, it was actually what gave me the idea to do this, so many thanks. Grin

This way someone with just 0.01 btc could win & attend the festivities, hopefully the final prize total will be enough to cover their travel, accommodation & expenses - not sure what the party ticket prices will be, but if a whole year's worth of dates sell out ( 2014, hint, hint  Wink ) then that's 3.65 BTC in fees plus 1 BTC which should be plenty enough to cover it all.
