1641  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin's Astro chart on: June 11, 2013, 11:15:16 AM
You can learn to be lucky. It's not a mystical force you're born with, but a habit you can develop. How? For starters, be open to new experiences, trust your gut wisdom, expect good fortune, see the bright side of challenging events, and master the art of maximizing serendipitous opportunities.

Charles Darwin said the "survival of the fittest" is a central factor in the process of evolution. What exactly did he mean by that? He makes it clear in his book The Origin of Species: "It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most responsive to change."

According to Darwin's definition, what would you have to do to make yourself superbly fit Litecoin?

Bitcoin's Forecast for Tuesday, 11 June 2013

'Trust in Allah but tie up your camel.' So goes the old Arabic saying. It vaguely matches a maxim from the Western world. 'Heaven helps those who help themselves.' Fortune - or the lack of it - is often not down to whether we have pleased or displeased a deity but whether we have taken all possible, sensible, steps to maximise our chance of success in a particular endeavour. Will you be lucky today? That largely depends on how many bases you have covered and how cleverly you can plan your next few moves. Big changes are about to happen, look forward to June 19th onwards.
1643  Economy / Speculation / Re: I just cashed out my lot of Bitcoins for Gold. Here's why. on: June 11, 2013, 01:32:06 AM
https://blockchain.info/address/1BitcoinDiesWithSHA256As0f09062013

invalid address as already stated & no bitcoin sent obviously, so troll challenge:

BTC price atm $105/BTC & gold price $1,385/Oz atm, so say you sold $1M worth of BTC @ $105 (ignoring spread etc) = 9,525 BTC you get approx 722 Oz of gold, lets see in 1 year, 2 year, 4 year, 10 year, etc how much 9,525 BTC & 722 Oz of gold is worth in USD, atm it's $1M each.

1646  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rare address hall of fame on: June 10, 2013, 05:40:16 PM
I got a Casascius coin starting with 133T. Happy coincidence, makes me feel elite Tongue

133ToRyyqtacUw1A89uBBpEQn6UknGx4ts

Me too, but with extra leet speak of a 7 for the T.
I got these two from Casascius:

1337qbfsHGxvzN6wrckdFoBniMdTRyt9qE

1337YWoEf5PP4V9sbP8gXTHmt621pZgyCu

Edit: re what constitutes a rare address, see OP & some of this thread for more info, 1Remember is nice but not exceptionally rare, 1Remembers would be impressive having 9 chars with proper case after the initial 1, there have only having been a couple of these so far (they didn't have Initial capital letter followed by only small case either which may be rarer or a new category for the hall of fame) & 1Remembered would be unique to date in having 10 proper case chars after the 1.

1 to 9 consecutive digits-only prefix van addie from: https://vanitypool.appspot.com/

123456789rceSbLWwKFY6v3T1TVnq5zWmA

Owner: Otoh

btw the hall of fame-ers: 1otohotohMoQoxHuxLBveQiZcV3Pji3Tc & 1ELiZABETHdzGTuQeg2RnCcWBMVo3ySfTz are also both pool generated & owned by me (the 1ELiZ addie will be a gift for my neice in the future).

Edit to add, as you were also looking for 'cool addresses' - I own this one, also pool generated: 1Duuuude1jup761HS2yjjoJgrfZaQFb9u5 Cool
1648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rare address hall of fame on: June 10, 2013, 04:56:51 PM
is this cool?

1ABCDEFGhSGyyACty7gXC4PvKwjjMEsdVq

You didn't even put that in the block chain.

and someone already has this one https://blockchain.info/address/1ABCDEFGHTs4DtPSNch45cmp3BsDdQP8SV

All upper case, and a-h, and that is the one that has first bits.

If you want to beat that, go a-i and get it in the block chain.

check it out.
https://blockchain.info/address/1ABCDEFGhSGyyACty7gXC4PvKwjjMEsdVq
just made a transacation and put it in the chain, don't want to beat anyone, just feel it kinda cool, thanks for letting me know someone's good job.

Your first bits are http://blockchain.info/fb/1abcdefghs

Not too cool, and the one I mentioned is A-H all caps, not a small h...

1ABCDEFGHTs4DtPSNch45cmp3BsDdQP8SV with FirstBits: 1abcdefgh is pool generated & owned by me just for the record.

1649  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Meanwhile on my car... on: June 09, 2013, 05:44:05 PM
I wonder if when Bitcoin is seen as a major nuisance by the US authorities could they revoke those plates stating that they are "offensive"?  Huh Undecided

North Carolina are already ahead of the curve with that, though only considering them to be in poor taste rather than offensive so far.

North Carolina - The NC DMV has rejected the application for the license plate 'BITCOIN' because it 'could be considered in poor taste'
1650  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Meanwhile on my car... on: June 09, 2013, 03:05:01 PM

1651  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Astrology Reading Audio File on: June 08, 2013, 07:50:01 PM
wanted to give this a try - but at 1:30 already is he referring to pluto as a planet?? pluto was ruled as a dwarf planet in 2006 and is clearly not a planet. sorry.

This is astrology & not astronomy, they work by different rules, Google can help you understand how this may work - if you can't be bothered to find out before making erroneous assumptions of how it's meant to be then just look at astrology as being more of an art than a science, though both are in a state of flux, evolution & development in any case.

Just one last question about my paper backup (noob) - do I need to create a new backup after transactions, or is the initial backup good for life?

It's in theory good for life - but you need to make sure when you make a transaction from a paper wallet address that the change is returned back to the paper wallet - if you're not careful it will  be returned to an address you were not expecting.

This is very much easier to manage if you use blockchain.info wallet for the TX rather than the BTC client one, not sure how easy Armoury wallet makes this as haven't tried yet.

This is probably the most comprehensive list of BTC plates in the wild atm (+ a few fantasy ones)

dead man switches

Edit: meant to say email death switches sry - encrypted for private keys or passwords (to say a LastPass account) & the recipient/s have the de-cryption instructions & know to expect the mails so aren't sent to spam, plus an account enabled Yubi Key in the LastPass case.

Litecoin's Forecast for Tuesday, 4 June 2013

Don't seek an explanation for the inexplicable. Some factors in your life defy logic. Any attempt to make sense of them will result in confusion. You will, at best, come up with a theory that will collapse as soon as you test it. The notion you replace it with will do much the same. It is not a question of 'If this is happening, then that must be the reason.' It is, 'This is happening. Never mind the reason. What do I feel most strongly moved to do about it?' Trust your most constructive urge for impulse. A stressful saga ends soon.
