1581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Just-Dice.com : Invest in 1% House Edge Dice Game on: July 21, 2013, 01:53:41 PM
Just checked this out, very nice indeed, invested in the house & left 1 coin balance to play with for when I fancy a flutter.

24 hours later & up over 2.69% & compounding on both the accounts that I opened yesterday, nice! Tomorrow I'll add some more & see if the full moon brings more/heavier bets, btw I made a birth chart for Just-Dice if anyone is interested or amused by astrology, if you dislike any mystic mumbo jumbo then please to just ignore it.

1582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin's Astro chart on: July 21, 2013, 01:50:06 PM
I made a birth chart for Just-Dice, based on the time of it's announcement - adjusted to local time for Vancouver, Canada BC (we don't know where exactly in BC dooglus is based, on some mountain it seems) anyway if the location is elsewhere in BC it won't change things too much.

Some of the main aspects:

Sun conjunction Jupiter in Gemini & Lilith in Cancer

Sun & Jupiter trine Saturn & Neptune

Moon conjunction Saturn & the Mean Node in Scorpio

Moon trine Mercury, Venus, Neptune & Chiron

Moon sextile Pluto

Mercury conjunction Venus in Cancer

Mercury & Venus square Uranus

Mercury & Venus trine Chiron

Mars sextile Uranus

Mars square Neptune

Mars square Chiron

Jupiter in Gemini conjunction Lilith in Cancer

Saturn trine Neptune, Chiron & Lilith

Saturn sextile Pluto

Uranus square Pluto

Neptune conjunction Chiron in Pisces

Neptune sextile Pluto

Neptune trine Lilith

Pluto sextile Chiron

Of note, a lot going on with the Moon, Neptune & Chiron, also some powerful trines & conjunctions with not a single opposition, the majority of planets in water signs - maybe emphasizing the social, chat box, side of the site. I may add some more if there's any interest in this, I staked some coins yesterday to participate as part of the house's bankroll, so far touch wood it's doing very OK, up over 2.69% in 24 hours & compounding nicely.

Edit: I've now had more exact time/location data from dooglus so will update this chart tomorrow for 2013-06-19 19:14:13 PST & location BC, Canada.

Edit 2: Done & it's looking even better now.

An addendum to the annual Sun-Jupiter conjunction. In addition to being conjoined at precisely the same degree of Gemini on June 19, the Sun and Jupiter, the two biggest objects in the solar system converging in one degree, are also sharing the same declination (to the degree) then. That means that Earth, the Sun, and Jupiter (on the other side of the Sun) are lined up in a remarkably straight line.

1583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Just-Dice.com : Invest in 1% House Edge Dice Game on: July 20, 2013, 08:15:50 PM
I dreamed last night there was a litecoin version of just-dice and I took .01ltc up to 200,000ltc. was it a premonition? is there a litecoin version on the todo list?
I think it's best for JD to concentrate on one thing to start with, a dice site with betting in BTC and do that good for a long period. it's way to early to increase risks by adding another currency(LTC for example) to bet in, you would need a large housecapital in litecoins to for that or the site's investors/dooglus would be in severe risk for what market fluctuations in the BTC/LTC price can cause.

If people want to bet with there litecoins, it's easy for them to change them to BTC at btc-e, vircurex, or some other exchange like that. Also the volume one can expect from gambling in litecoin is nowhere near the volumes/values for BTC so one would increase risks for very little benefit by adding other currencys like LTC i think.

This is how I responded also when the question came up for Satoshi Dice. However I'm starting to doubt more and more my opinion that Litecoin will fail.

Sure Litecoin is not superior to bitcoin but inertia, vested interests and decentralization may well make it very hard for bitcoin to improve it's features. It could well be that cryptocurrencies will become a rapid cycle of the rise and fall of different cryptocurrencies. Comparable to the gambling websites on the bitcoin scene. What I couldn't imagine, Satoshi Dice being destroyed by a competitor, happened within a few months.  Roll Eyes  (Satoshi Dice's turnover in USD collapsed by half since Just-Dice launched)

Litecoin may implement some new features tomorrow that do make it technically superior. Combined with mtgox adoption and the already strong foundation of early adopters and evangelists it might take over bitcoin in only a few months time. Chances are very low but it's possible.

It might be that if just-dice does not embrace Litecoin in it's early stages that it might go down together with bitcoin sooner as we all expect.

Just thinking out loud, honestly I have no clue what the best course of action is. Just getting little nervous of this whole Litecoin thing.

I'm a great fan of Litecoin & it's potential, if Just-Dice decided to add it then I'd chat to dooglus about backing the house with a 6 figure pot (of ltc) from day one.

+1. This should be easy as you have a feed from btc-e.com already.

+1 as well. Soon the LTC feeds from Gox will go live too hopefully.

I'm back on a PC again for a while and really miss this OSX ticker, would it be possible to make one or adapt it to work with Win 7 please, failing that or until then can anyone recommend a Win 7 ticker that is guaranteed to be trustworthy, many thanks.

Things are interesting right now. Uranus is moving back over the Midheaven (10th house cusp at the top of the chart) and that is "shocking" to how BTC acts in the "workplace", BTC's workplace. It is in the sign of aries and I like to think of that as a bit of discovery via "trial and error".(Maybe a big contract or something like that?) Overall a positive thing, but often quite traumatic (Gox news?). Really interesting to try to apply astrology to a cryptocurrency, especially considering the greater overall astrological transits right now. Speaking of which,

...

IAS

Maybe a big contract or something like that? The approx $12,000,000 sale of SatoshiDice announced on the 18th was a nice big contract and price discovery, certainly quite a news shock for the many invested in it.

So when you walk into the bank to use this service, take this advice:  Keep a smile on your face, and pride in your heart without any fear, and they will want to know what your secret to happiness might be.  The more of us there are, the more those bitcoins you just bought will be worth down the road.

Just to add a few key transits at this time:

...

Coming up in a little more than a week, Mars transits 12th house and opposes itself, oh my...

how do you interpret this?

I can't atm, just back from the dentist & it was way worse than I'd imagined, hopefully I'll be functioning better in a couple of days, but on a brighter note here's what's up for Capricorns, like Bitcoin, in general so maybe it won't be a too challenging road with all those oppositions:

Bitcoin's zodiac forecast for Wednesday, 17 July 2013

I'm always reluctant to offer good news to someone born under your sign. Where some people will happily seize upon such information and allow themselves to be cheered by the very promise, there is something about your character that provokes a different reaction. You are more inclined to be slightly suspicious, to assume that I must be referring to some other Capricorn. Or that, even if I insist that I do mean you, I have done my sums wrong. But despite all your misgivings, things really are looking up for you now.

Glad to hear that you're considering funding all coins even if a rare few may go astray, for large-ish orders you could always insure them for cost price so if that happened then there would be no monetary loss, or if not then just allow for the possibility of it happening & adjust the price a little to cover it afterwards if it ever happened.

Mine, to Spain, just says: Delivery status information is not available for your item via this web site. A return receipt after mailing may be available through your local Post Office.

which is OK, maybe it's not in the system as yet, or doesn't show for international registered mail, with Casascius's shipping the tracking worked up until it got to NY or LA ports for international orders.

let uis know how much the customs cost was...
If it's minimal, I may consider buying, but i'm still not very excited because of the price...

I will, for Casascius non silver coins I received them each time with no duty to pay, even for over 100 coin lots, mostly privately mailed (as opposed to shop mailed) packages from the US to Spain don't get any problems with customs even if declared for quite high value (> $100 say) so I'm hoping that there won't be any. This year any packages I've received from Thailand though are now being charged duty but it's just a fixed amount regardless of contents or value of about €28 per package.

A fixed amount?!? How strange. What's the reasoning for that?

Yep, it's totally weird, I've had to pay it about half a dozen times so far this year when I pick up my packages at the post office, I've had stuff from all over the world (non EU) but only had to pay it for shipments from Thailand, no idea why that is, I complained & asked where I could contest this as there's no contact details on the payment demand from whoever issued it (Oficina Cambio, MADB Madrid A)??, but eventually gave up as I was getting nowhere.

Just fished out one of these pesky bills & it's itemized as the following:

IVA Importation = VAT, sales tax: €7.85
Despacho = Office = a sort of handling/processing charge I guess: €14.98
IVA Despacho = f'ing VAT on the f'ing charge for billing you: €3.15
Total: €25.98

That one was from March 2013, the amount seems sort of random & has gone up to about €28 atm so I started consolidating my shipments & as many are worth a fair bit more than amount I'm being charged VAT on I'm not too fussed, this is a new BS to appear as for over 10 years I've had nothing to pay on packages sent to Spain from anywhere.

Edit: so it's €7.85 VAT @ 21% on about €37.50 or $50 which maybe the package was declared at or they just decided to value it as, most of the charge is the processing fee.

Litecoin's Horoscope for week of July 18, 2013

I believe you will undergo a kind of graduation in the next four weeks, Litecoin. Graduation from what? Maybe from a life lesson you've been studying for a while or from an institution that has given you all it can. Perhaps you will climax your involvement with a situation that has made big demands on you. I suspect that during this time of completion you will have major mixed feelings, ranging from sadness that a chapter of your story is coming to an end to profound gratification at how much you have grown during this chapter.

all issued coins should be funded imo or the brand will suffer disproportionately, yours or Casascius's both

they should be funded after shipping/receipt in order to avoid excess customs hassle/duty

The first bits address you will be able to look up on the litecoin block chain. This has always been an option to verify funds.

I will release a public list of funded addresses in the near future. This way you can cross check to see if the coin being resold (assuming you are buying from someone else besides me) does in fact have coins at the specified address.

Each coin comes with a certificate with the FULL ADDRESS of the coin too.

Firstbits is not sufficient. Recipient of unloaded coin could vanity-gen an address with identical firsbits. You have to use producer list to verify coin.

Good point. Then the certificate and the list I provide will be sufficient.

Not sure about that, as I understand it, say the coin's FirstBit was Labcde then anyone vanity generating the same would get a FirstBits of Labcdex, so when checking the original Firstbits would show as an unfunded address still.

edit: if FirstBits is just the first 5 chars, ie Labcd, then that would be the coin's & a van-gen would have Labcdx

i think this is correct.

I thought the assumption was smoothie would send unfunded coins. In such a case the attacker firstbits would be Labcd and smoothie would not even load the coin because it was reported "lost" by postal service / recipient / attacker. Therefore everything would look fine (even 10 LTC would be on Labcd) to an unsuspecting user only checking firstbits. Only upon redemption attempt would he find out the private key doesn't match (or when attacker moves the 10 LTC and the user checks the firstbits again).

Also: firstbits is handled a little differently by different sites. For example blockchain.info just searches for the first occurrence of a given prefix (no matter the length).

Ah yes good point, if he hasn't funded them then they can get van-gened & usurped, so if he wishes to reserve the FirstBits addresses a token tx is needed, 0.0001 does fine for btc, I use this for my van gens, ie recently with btc ones:

https://blockchain.info/address/1Saturdayv6znj1aCUAHzqKKxUnBPCy4S

https://blockchain.info/address/1ThankYou1pK8Lkx7cXdPuRZQvf3737ND

Then after receipt he funds them for the full 10 ltc, or that minus the FB holding amount previously sent.

Litecoin's Horoscope for Monday, 15 July 2013

What if you find some money lying in the street? Wouldn't that be something to celebrate? Oh, hang on. Yes, I take your point. It isn't yours. But what if it is loose, not attached to anything that could identify the person who has lost it. Now, what can spoil the pleasure? Perhaps just one thing. Discovering that someone you don't like very much has also encountered such a windfall and that they have found twice as much money as you! Beware of false comparisons today, and be glad of the gains you are about to make.

Litecoin's Weekly Outlook from Monday, 15th July

Mars, planet of dynamic energy, is now in your chart area which rules career so you are hugely ambitious. You are very determined and intend to work hard to gain your ends. Just have a slight care after midweek. The influences around then could be enlightening but they could also be misleading. You need to stay very practical and grounded to get the best end of Neptune. It can be religious or spiritual, even connected to things paranormal.

edit: if FirstBits is just the first 5 chars, ie Labcd, then that would be the coin's & a van-gen would have Labcdx

Thumbs up from Casascius

"You may have heard that Noah Luis aka Smoothie on the Bitcointalk forums has released “Lealana Litecoins”, essentially a physical Litecoin similar to my offering. His current product is a half-ounce silver round loaded with 10 Litecoins, and is available for sale for both BTC and LTC directly from him. I support his efforts and am pleased to see what he has produced."
