6881  Other / Meta / Re: @Theymos merit sir plsz on: August 01, 2019, 04:54:09 PM

I double checked it and it says merit.
My understanding is that you were/are asking for spendable merit :-P

....They can create new smerit out of nothing,......I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively....Of that, a certain amount (less than the usual half) is spendable. The spendable amount was calculated based....have any spendable merit.....

If someone sends you 1 merit, the 0.5 sMerit is not wasted; it is just not shown until you get another merit point.
LOL I think theymos himself was confuse when to use merits and when to use sMerits :-)

6882  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Brave, the so called "privacy" browser now requires KYC! on: August 01, 2019, 04:45:50 PM
This principle applies to so many things in modern life. A bunch of my friends use various smart home devices - Google, Amazon, whatever. They say it's super convenient: "Add x to my shopping list" or "What's the weather like tomorrow". I say I'd rather spend 10 seconds doing these things myself than having every single word that is every said inside my house being sent to and recorded on who knows how many servers around the world. You like the convenience of connecting with friends on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.? Then you are giving away all your data to these companies to use anyway they want and sell to anyone they want.
There is noting free in this world. They let us to use their free product but we pay them without our data.

I think we are living in an age now where more and more people are taking their privacy seriously. But it really comes down to the preference of either choosing privacy or going with easy custom made features designed by the companies to compromise your privacy.

I know that. But just like centralized exchanges NEED to implement KYC at some point (due to their government laws) or they will get shutdown, I think Brave actually needs to do that if they want to keep going with their idea of giving BAT tokens to publishers. What else should they do? Just give up on their idea or go against their law enforcement agencies? As long as they have good intentions and only ask for KYC when needed (for publishers in this case) I'm cool with that. But that's me (I also hate KYC btw).
I have not used their browser so I have no idea about the user friendliness of their service. It seems like KYC is needed only to use the token not for using the browser. So, in my opinion everything comes down to the service they are offering. If they can provide top notch service and if the users find their browser is more comfortable than those exists (like chrome), they will get a group of customers users who will turn to be loyal for them. Not everyone will be interested in their token. So KYC is not going to be needed for all.
6883  Other / Meta / Re: @gmaxwell or @achow101 why did you lock the thread? on: August 01, 2019, 04:29:07 PM
So did you really just close a thread because we where trying to help a uneducated member gain more knowledge about Bitcoin just because so called Wind_FURY said so, and actually trying to say that we are one account just for clarifying on a members statement.
What I believe that the thread was locked there because there are nothing more to add. There were these two posters debating with each others which was not going anywhere.
6884  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can the blockchain tech be used to prevent counterfeiting of physical cash? on: August 01, 2019, 04:21:01 PM

Blockchain technology can't help in identifying bank issued notes until a microchip is installed in that note! There has to be a tracking mechanism installed in the physical goods to attach it with the controlling blockchain, otherwise you won't get the desired output! Because two notes with same number can't exist and a tracking mechanism is needed to separate the legal note from a counterfeited note! I am practically getting no other solution to it!

Talking about goods, I think wabi tried to do this but not sure how is there project working.

And talking about notes, do you think government will do this (tracking mechanism on the notes)? I do not know what will be the props and cons but if the government wants to do that they can easily implement it like they do in the passports or other identification materials these days.

Drinks break and guess what! Australia 198 still 8 wickets. Smith not out 76 and Siddle 41 not out. At one stage we thought they may not even cross 150 runs, thanks to Siddle.

Australia needs this partnership to keep playing as long as they can.

The England fans once again showed that they don't have any manners at all. After Warner got out, they insulted him by flashing sandpaper. Warner did something wrong and he got the punishment for that. But what right does England have to humiliate him like this? And that too after stealing the world cup from New Zealand. Without those 6 stolen runs by Ben Stokes, they could have never lifted the world cup.
Not sure what happened there but English fans are always arrogant. By the way, Ben Stokes did not stole the run, it was no one in the field knew about this rule or I would say that know one never experienced that. If you really need to blame then it will be the umpires. The umpires really are embarrassing these days.

Also uninstall the one you already have installed.
6887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: August 01, 2019, 02:10:56 PM
8th down and really poor performance by Australia. Smith is still there but I doubt he can do anything major. Not sure if they can score even 150 runs.

It will be interesting to see how the Australian bowlers perform. If England can manage 350 to 400 runs then gone is gone from Australians hand. They may lose by innings :-(

~snip~
Aussies lost seventh wicket but we can say poor decisions costing them as technology is improving but umpiring is going down badly now time for ICC to act and have some better of this technology for fair and entertaining cricket otherwise this is going to be more disaster as we already have one of worst result for World Cup final.
I have already been told about Warners out, anything new in between?

I'm open to getting more people who are active in Gambling (such as Royse777) but it's not a huge priority at the moment.
Aww! That's nice to hear my name here. I am eagerly waiting for my shot :-)

Back to the topic about posters in Gambling section, there are a lot of people in the gambling section who produce quality contents not just doing it for their activity count.
Talking about sig spammers, more or less they are all over in the forum except some sub boards where signature space is not visible like Serious discussion
6890  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: August 01, 2019, 01:44:02 PM
5th wicket also gone and Smith alone can't do anything when now after Tim only bowlers are left to bat.

250 score also looks tough from this stage as earlier Smith and Head had a good partnership that took them to 99 and Woakes is playing brilliantly. England were great in breaking the partnership which is important in even test matches. Don't think the captain would manage to remain till the end of the day. The Top 5 of Australia did not even manage to make 50 runs.
Damn it man! They are 6th down! Only Smith is fighting for the Australian team and keeping one side safe but if no one can not support him then he can not do much. Someone needs to support him if Australia wants a decent score in their first innings.

So far, Australian are not looking good. I just hope the best from them.

EDIT: And another gone! 7 down :-(

Not really, it all depends on your threat model and how high it's set.
How?
You will ask me to use duckduckgo.com for my search engine? I have no problem to use tor browser in fact I do use firefox with tor connection but asking me to use duckduckgo.com is boring.

I do not like it. The annoying part is that everytime when you are going to search for anything you are starting it from the scratch since the browser does not know anything about your interest, preference. I know that's the goal but these days we are so much addicted with technology that if you ask someone to add 122 + 123 (just picked some random number) then they will look for a calculator.

Well, then there's no problem with that but as o_e_l_e_o said, even if you downloaded the legitimate one and it prompts an update or something, it could somehow show a pop-up box saying to update it,
Since I learnt about the hack of clicking the update button few months ago I never use auto update feature. Luckily I have never seen the update pop up as well.

This is what I recommend, if you somehow find yourself in this kind of situation that Electrum is asking for update with a pop up then just close entire Electrum and download a a fresh copy from their official website. Verify it before installing and start over again. This way, you are safe that you are using authentic Electrum and also the latest version.

Do not forget to keep your seeds safe in somewhere else. You need them to restore your wallet if you have not backed up your files in the wallet folder before uninstalling the old version.
6893  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: August 01, 2019, 01:13:00 PM
@Royse777: I am not taking into account the earlier results as England is in form after winning the WC and especially in their home ground. Hence want to cheer for a winning team lol.
Good luck and seems like you have high hopes since Australia lost their 4th wicket. Good thing for Australia is that Smith is still batting.

Anderson went for scan to check if he can play further on this test or not. If he is out of the test, it will be big  blow for England and Aussies will be ahead  for surely.
He is main bowler for England in test.
Since I am just following the score, I have no idea what happened to him. On field injury?

Edit: Okay no worries. I got it: https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/27300901/anderson-hands-england-early-ashes-injury-worry

Bad for England. Archer is also injured.

Anyway back to the topic, I was holding at 777 for around 24 hours couple days ago. But if I need to go back then I always can do it :-D

Don't forget my Angel number.

Lunch time.
One must admit that first session was not for Australia. Still they are in the process of recovering their innings. In the 2nd session they will need to ensure that they do not lose more than 2 wickets but if they do not lose any wicket then they will be in a strong position.

Australia needs to ensure that they manage 300+ runs in their first innings.
6896  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: August 01, 2019, 11:51:56 AM
Top order failed for OZ team and now its all up to Middle order and Smith is leading them.
England was looking very good when Australia lost their third wicket at 35 runs. Now Smith and Head is doing the job to recover the damage. Looking good at 75 for three but if Australia lose anymore wicket then they will be in real trouble.

Umpiring is so bad these days, so many wrong decision, Warner was out when not given, when he given out, it was not out.
I am just following the score. But yes the Umpiring issue is going pathetic these days. Imagine if there were no technology, we would have seen worse. In the entire world cup we have seen messed up umpiring. We have seen some bad decision in Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka series too.

6898  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: August 01, 2019, 11:01:51 AM
I never expected Sri Lanka to dominate Bangladesh in this manner especially after seeing their World Cup performances recently. This just goes to show how Sri Lanka is still a quality team in the ODI format.
The Bangladesh team in WC and this Bangladesh team is totally different because of Shakib's absence. On top of it Tamim is having his worst time in the career, Mahmudullah Riyad is struggling for runs even Mushfiqur Rahim did not perform yesterday.

I think Bangladesh needs to learn how to win matches without Shakib. It's like the Indian team once it used to be. Sachin, Ganguly did not perform, India could not perform.

Quote
Bangladesh needs to make some radical changes if they wish to stay relevant at this point. A 3-0 washout and their dependence on Shakib is not helping them at all.
I do not know what changes will be effective but they really need to do something about Tamim. Also they need to find a bowling unit that take wickets. In the entire WC we have seen they were heavily dependent on their batting unit.

An emoji window will open up and you select your favorite emoji.
That was easy :-P

Okay, finally the first test is in progress. Not watching the match but following the scores. After winning the toss Australia  elected to bat but seems like they did execute the plan. They lost two wickets in 17 runs. Bancroft and Warner gone! England got early break for sure but it's too early to say anything about the result of this test.

If I am asked to pick a team then I will go for Australia to win in 4th day (if there are no rain interruption) :-P

Cheering for England as Aus will not win in England land.
Australia's winning record in England is not that bad. Here is just a scan:

Australia has won more Ashes Tests than England, winning 134 of the 330 matches, compared to England's 106 victories.

~snip~
Guess you are confused as well like rest of us Tongue
I think I need more reading about this whole new thing :-P
