I am not sure there are enough trustworthy people whom it would not be insane to trust with this much money, and to not collude to try to steal the money.
BTC500 to be held by one single person? Definitely not. Not anyone. I think those funds are at risk.
7 people for a 4-of-7 multisig address so 4 signatures are required? Absolutely yes. Much less trust is required in that case.

Back in the days when the tx made the value for this 500BTC was only: $34,445.00 (I hate to compare with fiat damn!),
Now it's: $3,448,708.66
When BTC had it's ATH over $19k (consider $19k) then the value was :  $9,500,000.00
There are no question about OG's loyalty and responsibility. OG really has some really a big balls :-P (<== thanks bud)

An imaginary scenario:
2/3 Multisig wallet

Key 1 : theymos
Key 2 : OG
Key 3 : VOD

or

Key 1 : theymos
Key 2 : QS
Key 3 : VOD

7685  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos - Request: Multisig addresses for treasurers on: May 13, 2019, 08:03:44 PM
I think the current BTC0.5-per-month fee is ridiculously high and having 7 treasurers wouldn't require paying each one a similar fee.
Probably BTC0.02 or BTC0.05 for each one would be more than enough.
I think it would even be better to peg the fee to the US Dollar rate. From what I can tell... BTC's volatility seem to be back.
This is a Bitcoin forum. We are hoping Bitcoin to establish as the main currency of the world. I know this may take few decades if not centuries but I would like to see a world where the main currency will be Bitcoin.

So we better stop compering fiat with Bitcoin :-D

~snip~

You think that 0.1% of the total is not a fair escrow price? What % do you think would be fair than? I see a ton of escrows on here that want between 0.5-1%
It's a per month expense we are talking about not a year or a term of one time x amount of time.

I don't think signing bitcoin address is the only way to prove ownership to an account. There can be other ways too, not sure what they can be

Just found an address that will support my claim on this account. Although never used to send or receive payments.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2436243.msg25089829#msg25089829

If you can access any of those addresses (including my quoted one above) then ask the lender to send BTC to any of them. Once you receive the BTC there then you can move the amount wherever you want.

I hope this helps?
7687  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos - Request: Multisig addresses for treasurers on: May 13, 2019, 07:52:01 PM

In my opinion 2-of-3 isn't enough (but still much better than now of course).
Any x/y combination will be better than the presently the coins are in hold. I have no issue with trusting OG but the risk is the accident. The accidental damage is my concern and I am sure most of the forum members too will have the same statement.

That will be up to theymos in fact everything is up to him. We just want to see the funds are not in any risk :-)
7688  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos - Request: Multisig addresses for treasurers on: May 13, 2019, 07:41:14 PM
This has been suggested several times and I think it's extremely important. I see it as essential for the forum's funds security and I don't see any disadvantages at all. Current treasurer OgNasty agrees multisig should be used.

I would suggest choosing several very trustworthy users and creating x-in-y addresses, where x is at least 3 (to avoid collusion) and y is at least x+2 (to avoid an accident to lock the funds). 4-in-7 addresses could be a good option. Theymos, is there any reason this hasn't been implemented yet? What are the disadvantages? Funds have been lost and more could be lost in the future.
This will be a very good step to secure the forum funds. It has a cost. I know OG gets 0.5BTC meaning more key holders, more money to pay every month.

So, considering the expense, I think 2/3 Multisig wallet/address will more than enough.

Thanks for posting this topic. Someone had to create a topic for this.

Great works buddy. I have driven this thread continuously with the every update with valuable discussion. I also replied and shared my thoughts about prediction in this thread.

All the best CSK for great efforts and Ambani's son with match fixing win.

I hope this thread should be locked since all discussion over about this year's IPL.
I will lock this topic once I get confirmation from the escrow that the payment has been made. Once the payment done then there will be no use for this topic.

By the way, why not you join the Worldcup pool? I kept it free for users however anyone can contribute any amount they want.

7692  Other / Meta / Re: Ban evasion - rchstr on: May 13, 2019, 07:03:32 PM

Ban evasion should be dealt with by Mods, as it breaks forum rules. Tags shouldn't be used to enforce forum rules.

Scams aren't moderated, that's why a scammer's alt should be tagged.
Very well said. I hope this newbie DTs will have some idea where a red tag appropriate and where not. Recently I have seen theymos had to come up with more specified instructions for red tagging. The forum members forget that there is a neutral feedback option too.

Logged-out users will now see a warning in trust-enabled sections if more DT members neg-trust the topic starter than positive-trust him.

This increases the responsibility of DT members not to give negative trust for stupid reasons, but only for things that cause you to believe that the person is a scammer.

The emphasized part is in bold font.

Joined the pool Royse. Thanks! This is going to be another interesting tournament after the current IPL season. My top 3 teams basically are:

1. India
2. England
3. Australia

You are most welcome. I hope more people starts to join. I have updated the OP with participants lists.

My top 3 teams will be:
Australia
India
England.

However I am not expecting England to win the cup by any chance LOL

I know your title says no collateral, but what non-altcoin collateral can you offer me? I can maybe fill this loan
The title clearly says "[No Collateral] loan". What non-altcoin collateral you are asking for?

Thanks for your proposal but I'll accept loan only on my terms. Doesn't matter if I get it on those terms or not.
Okay I'll pass then.

Good luck. I hope someone will be here to help you.

Cheers :-)
7695  Economy / Lending / Re: Need a quick [No Collateral] loan of 0.015 BTC on: May 13, 2019, 01:56:41 PM
It's a no collateral loan hence it's a high risk for the lender however looking at your feedback it's assuring that there won't be much risk (assuming). I will be happy to lend you the money (you will need to sign an old bitcoin address that you have used here long ago) if you repay me 0.018BTC.

I am okay with 2days to 2weeks time frame. I have no interest if you win or lose but I am okay as soon as I get my repayment.

Let me know.

Cheers :-)

I did not realize that today there was a match between Bangladesh vs West Indies.
Just checked the scorecard.
After winning the toss WI elected to bat and managed to score 247 runs after 50 overs.
I think Bangladesh will win this one too.

Any predictions?

By the way, like the IPL prediction pool I have created the world cup prediction pool too. This time you are not necessarily going to pay any fees however if you wish then you can send any amount.
So, join even if you do not have much to send to the pool. You may find yourself to win some BTC from the pool.

What a final match between MI and CSK. The IPL 2019 has their champion. Congrats to MI for the great win that they snitched from CSK.

With this, we can finish this Pool successfully. It was a great pleasure to pick with Haunebu and Cloudbet especially in the final few matches. Tell you what, before the final match I had 36 and Ronnie had 37 points. At the last over, everyone was thinking CSK was going to win, so did I and I was counting that I will get 0.5 margin point with my correct pick point 1 meaning I will get 1.50 points and that will make me to lead the leader board LOL

But that last ball from Malinga snitched the trophy from CSK also my hope to lead the point table on the pool LOL (Also I had this outright bet @4.85 from the very beginning that CSK will be the champion and lost that too LOL)

Nevermind, Ronnie played really well and he deserved the win. However since he said he is going to waive his prize so I think the rest of us means me and Haunebu will equality split his amount.

Here is the calculation of the prize:

The prize pot amount = 0.005BTC
Escrow fees (1% of 0.005) = 0.00005BTC
Remains (0.005-0.00005) = 0.00495BTC

For the ease of calculation let's have the tx fees on me.

1st prize 40%  = 0.001980
2nd prize 30%  = 0.001485
3rd prize 20%  = 0.000990
4th prize 10% = 0.000495

Cloudbet 1st = waived
Royse777 2nd = 0.001485 + 0.00099 = 0.002475 - 0.0000164(tx fees 5sat/B) = 0.0024586BTC
Haunebu 3rd = 0.000990 + 0.00099 = 0.00198BTC
Charity (will select soon) = 0.000495BTC
Escrow fees (1% of 0.005) = 0.00005BTC
Tx fees = 0.0000164BTC

@Haunebu: Please PM me a BTC address so that I can send it to minerjones and also can someone get me the link of the charity program running by a user who started it recently. I needed the BTC address from them too.

Cheers :-)

This was easily the most spectacular finale I have ever witnessed in an IPL season and I was shocked to see the trophy being passed around several times between the teams through out the match.

I thought that CSK would easily win this one, but they botched it thanks to their run outs and the controversial decisions. Hats off to MI to becoming the most successful team in the IPL franchise with 4 freaking wins. Well deserved indeed. The best IPL season ever.

Had a lot of fun chatting with you guys in this thread.
