As far as I know the IMF and the World bank have a strict loan structure that only a few countries capable can even lend in them. That is why most under developed countries tend to borrow money from other countries. That is why we are seeing China as the number one suspect for doing "debt traps" in which the Chinese government knows that this under developed countries don't have the ability to pay that their main goal really is for them taking over their assets. So far the countries who fell victim recently are Uganda and Zambia.

However, America also has borrowed money in the trillions from China. Will China also own and takeover America's assets?

I reckon they might have problems collecting for payment hehehe.
6882  Economy / Gambling / Re: Cloudbet | Bitcoin Casino & Sportsbook | The No.1 Bitcoin Gambling Site on: March 22, 2019, 01:17:43 AM
@Ronnie. Does Cloudbet always collect documents for any withdrawal amount from all users for KYC? I am afraid I made a mistake. I did a small deposit to bet on the Game of Thrones, however, because of the high minstake, I changed my mind and would like to withdraw. Will Cloudbet hold my withdrawal because of this?
6883  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game of Thrones - Who will rule? Odds and betting discussion [Odds updated!] on: March 22, 2019, 01:01:14 AM
@Ronnie. I would have made some bets if the minstake was beginning on .0025 hehe. I am only a small pundit who do this as a hobby. Is there a way for Cloudbet to lower the who will die first betting to .0025? I want to bet on most of them.
6884  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game of Thrones - Who will rule? Odds and betting discussion [Odds updated!] on: March 21, 2019, 03:46:44 AM
I wonder how many people close to the writer or actors have friends who could make a quick buck from this eh? Might not win much on an outright, but you could certainly take bags of money and make markets for all the characters they KNOW won't sit on the throne. Makes me feel the winner probably has very low payouts (therefore, most expected) after all.

@leea-1334. Cloudbet and Nitrogensports can be trusted enough for any amount below $500 if you are scared. Why would they scam you for such a low amount? That would be bad for their reputation.

In any case, after an investigation, Cloudbet has paid out 80 bitcoins of winnings to 1 user which raised its trustrating in Peep's Place sportsbooks review thread.

But both Cloudbet and Nitrogensports have had recent allegations against them NOT paying out wins or cancelling bets. The latter even on a very dubious Asian Handicap bet that half pushed, half won on a parlay and apparently revealed that it had very bad AH reputations.

Cloudbet's also withheld in the past apparently, although negative ratings were recently adjusted to neutral, so he's probably justified in worrying. Besides, the amount shouldn't matter for trust. $1 or $1000 shouldn't have a say on how they handle your funds.

Check trust ratings of each to see what I mean. I would bet, but I would never tell people their money is safe on those reputations.

Agreed. I edited my post and added a warning.

Also, Cloudbet replied to my request and said that they cannot reduce the minstake for the Game of Thrones betting because they are high risk outright markets. Should they not reduce the maxstake instead?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=333552.msg50240551#msg50240551

In any case, if anyone knows another sportsbook that offers betting on Game of Thrones, please share them. Thank you!
6885  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-03-21] Blockchains Have Merit, But Cryptocurrencies Won’t Take Over on: March 21, 2019, 03:28:45 AM
They are spinning the issue to be suitable for their own goals.

In any case, this is what the IMF and the World Bank do. They lend 3rd world countries money, so much money that they know it will not have the ability to pay them back. Once this is achieved, they will have full control of that country's policies on governmental and financial matters. They will own that country.

What would occur if that country's citizens begin holding a currency which cannot be controlled? Who will have the last laugh?

The International Monetary Fund published a report on cryptocurrencies. Within the report titled ‘Back-to-Basics’, the Finance & Development experts explain some regular economic terms and concepts that readers encounter on a daily basis. The topic of cryptocurrency has become the first to be discussed by the Fund’s experts after a long hiatus.

In the report, the Fund attempted to provide a basic description of what cryptocurrencies are and how they function. However, it is hard to stay unbiased when it comes to the thorny concept of virtual money.

Even though we are nowhere near what could be considered mass adoption yet, digital assets are subjectively gaining in popularity. Many traditional financial institutions and tech companies are currently experimenting with blockchain technology and looking for ways to get engaged in the industry.

However, the International Monetary Fund officials are not on the same page in regards to the general excitement about this new budding concept of money. According to IMF economist Antoine Bouveret and assistant director Vikram Haksar, virtual coins do not fulfill basic functions of money, such as being a store of value, means of exchange, and unit of account.

i thought he was done making predictions. say it ain't so, tom! Roll Eyes

he's been the best contrarian indicator i've ever seen. i'm hesitant to stay too bearish for too long, but this prognostication from tom lee might have just delayed the bull market until at least december! Tongue

I like Tom Lee better when he is his bullish self, throwing predictions in the air from nowhere. Be careful, however. This time his predictions might be correct. The bear market must end somewhere hehehe.
6887  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cryptos would only have value in a dystopian economy said JP Morgan on: March 21, 2019, 02:17:04 AM
This appears to show the hypocrisy of the banking industry when it comes to the developments and accomplishments of bitcoin, not only in the cryptospace, but the whole world. I shake my head.

They want to accomplish what bitcoin has accomplished for their coin. They will fail however, or they might create dystopia with jpcoin which would be good for bitcoin hehehehe.

It’s no secret that the executives sitting at the top of JPMorgan Chase – one of the largest banks in the world – are not the biggest fans of Bitcoin and other similar cryptocurrencies.

Although the bank’s distain towards the nascent technology initially appeared to be genuine – and possibly rooted in fear – it now appears that they are, in fact, bullish on the tech – as long as they are the ones controlling it.

In a recent interview with CNBC’s Squawk Box, Ron Karpovich, the Global Head of eCommerce Solutions at JPMorgan Chase, explained that the traditional banking system is so intertwined with the world presently that there is no true way around avoiding it.

The recent news regarding the bank’s foray into the crypto industry with the introduction of their JPM Coin was quite surprising to the crypto community, as Jamie Dimon, the CEO of the bank, is notoriously anti-crypto.

One of the show’s hosts asked Karpovich about his bosses’ anti- crypto sentiment, to which he responded claiming that there is a difference between utilizing blockchain and speculating on cryptocurrencies.

“There’s a difference between trading a cryptocurrency that’s in the market that’s ubiquitous, versus using the technology to enhance your payment infrastructure,” he explained, avoiding directly confronting Dimon’s previous comments about crypto.

6888  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-03-19] Bitcoin’s Share of Total Crypto Market Slips Back Toward 50% on: March 21, 2019, 01:25:04 AM
Bitcoin's dominance will organically decrease depending on the site that's calculating the percentages.

If we look at CMC for example, it's not so much that altcoins haven gained on Bitcoin, but more so that the quantity of listed altcoins has increased. If you keep adding altcoins, which happens continuously, the dominance will eventually drop below 40% or even below 30%.

If you also add that altcoins are somewhat leveraged Bitcoin products due to their similar but exaggerated movements, there isn't much that you can do here. Bitcoin is very long term bullish, so based on that, even the most rubbish coins will gain value throughout the years. Welcome in the world of crypto.

The worst part is that you can't even short 99% of the altcoins. Up is the direction.

Agreed. However, it might also be the beginning of another altcoin bull market similar to what occured on March to June of 2017 where we have witnessed 10x - 20x pumps of some altcoins. That was months after bitcoin's dominance index was also dropping during that year.

I reckon it was not really a drop in bitcoin's dominance. It was the whales holding more altcoins and preparing for the pumping and dumping of the altcoin market.

News update.

@figmentofmyass. QuadrigaCX appears more revealed to be the moneylaundering part of a criminal operation as more details are being uncovered about this story hehehe.

Omar Dhanani

Quadrigacx Co-Founder Michael Patryn Is Actually Convicted Fraudster Omar Dhanani

While Dhanani, now known as Patryn, refused to comment on the matter, Bloomberg claims to have obtained records that confirm the man’s criminal past and his changing of names twice, in 2003 and 2008. Patryn co-founded troubled Canadian exchange Quadrigacx with the late Gerald Cotten in 2013.

Quadrigacx Co-Founder Michael Patryn Is Actually Convicted Fraudster Omar Dhanani
Omar Dhanani a.k.a Michael Patryn
He allegedly changed his name from Omar Dhanani to Omar Patryn with the British Columbia government in March 2003. The news agency reported that in 2008, Dhanani became known as Michael Patryn, having registered a new name in the same Canadian province.

In the U.S., Dhanani had been charged with several crimes, including pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit credit and bank card fraud in 2005, Bloomberg noted, quoting a statement from the U.S. Justice Department. He was just 22 years old at the time. Dhanani allegedly operated a website called shadowcrew.com, now defunct, peddling 1.5 million stolen credit and bank card numbers, claims the article.

After reading this article, I reckon Jon might live. However, he might not sit on the iron throne and might also retire somewhere with his child without Daenerys. I also predict that Daenerys will die under the very stressful occurrences of her child's birth.

Help me make a request for the reduction of Cloudbet's minstake in the Game of Thrones betting. It has the best format. Thank you!

Game of Thrones' Kit Harington Is Satisfied With Jon Snow's Ending

While there are still many more weeks to go before Game of Thrones returns (let alone ends), Harington is speaking a bit about the end of this decade long journey. In an interview with Variety, Harington mentions that he wrapped filming the day after co-star Peter Dinklage and recalls the emotional end to his last day, but also that he had the same reaction to reading the scripts for the season. He also said, "The end of Jon’s journey, whatever that may be … I was satisfied with how his story ended."

With so many different possible outcomes for Game of Thrones, it's impossible to know exactly how Jon's story will end. Many viewers want to see him wind up on the Iron Throne and take his place as the rightful king, but proving he's actually the man he'll surely learn he is will not be an easy task. If he can't prove his identity, then he could take on several other roles within the same political realm.

@bigslimvdub. I read your latest State of Aeon article on medium. I do not believe that you have certainly understood what stoffu's issue is on the present State of Aeon, however.

Read his post on reddit again and do not avoid the real issue.

FYI, the real issue is ASICS not being embraced because they have shown time and time again to not be fair on the network with those unable to obtain them.

However, are the Asics that keep coming back on whatever algorithm Aeon changes to easily obtained by the miners? Do you think it will stop after another hard fork?

This news article based on data from a report made by Coinlib might prove that my speculation is correct. Chinese speculators are indeed buying bitcoin to buy EOS, Tron, Ethereum and all of their favorite pumps hehehe.

According to data from Coinlib, Bitcoin investments in China rose as the valuation of the cryptocurrency improved. Statistics released by Coinlib showed that the capital inflow into Bitcoin, in terms of Chinese yuan [CNY] placed the fiat currency in the top fiat currencies invested in the crypto ecosystem.

Chinese yuan [CNY] was highly active in terms of cryptocurrency investment. At press time, the Chinese fiat currency registered investments of around $166.49 million in Bitcoin, and Ether witnessed a capital inflow of $75 million in the same period.

This analysis might be more sensible than Tom Lee's misplaced overbullishness. However, there are questionable predictions in the report like the explosive advancement of blockchain 3.0.

Their next report might be a big advertisment of those blockchain 3.0 platforms hehehe.

A blockchain-focused think tank, the DD Think Tank, has recently suggested that Bitcoin’s current market cycle could last until May 2020, after analyzing over “100,000 pieces of data of the global cryptocurrency industry.”

According to ChainDD’s 2018-2019 Cryptocurrency Market Annual Report, the cryptocurrency ecosystem is set to keep on developing in the near future, but the market will only turn bullish after Bitcoin’s halving event in 2020, when the amount of new BTC introduced into the market drops from 12.5 BTC per block to 6.25.

6897  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-03-08] Facebook data dividend model by using issued coins as payment on: March 19, 2019, 02:53:58 AM
Similar to Facebook, I speculate that all the biggest banks also want to issue their own coin.

In any case, is this a slight signal for how can we make a profit with you, let us talk made to Ethereum, EOS, Tron, Stellar, NEM, Waves, Ripple and other similar platforms advertised by Citibank?

I reckon it appears that way. Who will be the lucky winner hehehe?

Citibank Won’t Be Launching Its Own “Citicoin”, Will Use Existing Technologies Instead, Will They Turn To Ripple’s XRP Or SWIFT?

Blockchain has been championed as a solution to the high fees and slow nature of cross border payments. Many institutions have signed on to begin using Ripple as a way to solve these issues, but it seems Citi is not quite ready to believe in the technology.

When it comes to blockchain and cryptocurrency these huge financial institutions seem to talk out of both sides of their mouth. JP Morgan executives bashed Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies only to adopt the technology later. Now while Citi is backing off, they also admit to continuing to look into blockchain solutions ‘like (Ripple/XRP)’.

Atak warned that many businesses are trying to force the integration of blockchain because it’s a hot topic right now. But she admitted that Citi is still exploring blockchain and all of its applications so we may yet see a Citicoin down the road.

6898  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: March 18, 2019, 02:04:14 AM
I agree that there is little future for Aeon if we don't stand out in the crypto space. Many projects have copied Aeon and built on top of that. Many projects copied Monero and printed on top of that. It is a good thing there are many projects out there, but what do they have to offer against the rest other than more developers at hand who have devoted their time for that specific project. It seems nowadays there are so many cookie-cutter projects that only offer a different POW and maybe one or two things here or there, especially CN forks. You know how many POW are being used by CN forks? They are all still CN coins though.

Why build 1350 ERC20 tokens to support 1350 single ideas?

Why not have a few main erc20 projects that have 20 functions they support each?

I look at projects nowadays like little retail companies that each do their own thing and all make their own specific product yet in the end, they are all still little retail companies.

This is not about what mining algorithm there is. You might have misunderstood or maybe continue to avoid the real main issue on stoffu's proposal. However, you wrote an ignorant analysis about it in your State of Aeon article.

This is what stoffu said.

I believe now is the right time for Aeon to become ASIC friendly by switching to SHA-3 PoW (the most recent Secure Hashing Algorithm standardized by NIST). Below I'll try to explain why:
There is no such thing as ASIC resistant PoW.

Whether someone creates an ASIC or not is not determined by how technologically difficult it is to do so, but how economically sensible it is to do so; i.e., when a coin gets more adopted and the price rises, ASICs will appear no matter what.
