6561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / SEC charges Kik ICO for issuing unregistered ICO on: June 06, 2019, 02:37:52 AM
The cryptospace has developed faster than the regulators have created laws on how to regulate it. I reckon ICO issuers should be allowed to issue tokens as investment as long as they are not a real scams similar to Bitconneeect.

Also, citizens should also by allowed to invest their own money in anything they want as long as they do not call the regulators if they lose their investment.

The Securities and Exchange Commission today sued Kik Interactive Inc. for conducting an illegal $100 million securities offering of digital tokens.  The SEC charges that Kik sold the tokens to U.S. investors without registering their offer and sale as required by the U.S. securities laws.

As alleged in the SEC’s complaint, Kik had lost money for years on its sole product, an online messaging application, and the company’s management predicted internally that it would run out of money in 2017.  In early 2017, the company sought to pivot to a new type of business, which it financed through the sale of one trillion digital tokens.  Kik sold its “Kin” tokens to the public, and at a discounted price to wealthy purchasers, raising more than $55 million from U.S. investors.  The complaint alleges that Kin tokens traded recently at about half of the value that public investors paid in the offering.

The complaint further alleges that Kik marketed the Kin tokens as an investment opportunity.  Kik allegedly told investors that rising demand would drive up the value of Kin, and that Kik would undertake crucial work to spur that demand, including by incorporating the tokens into its messaging app, creating a new Kin transaction service, and building a system to reward other companies that adopt Kin.  At the time Kik offered and sold the tokens, the SEC alleges these services and systems did not exist and there was nothing to purchase using Kin.  Kik also allegedly claimed that it would keep three trillion Kin tokens, Kin tokens would immediately trade on secondary markets, and Kik would profit alongside investors from the increased demand that it would foster.  The Kin offering involved securities transactions, and Kik was required to comply with the registration requirements of the U.S. securities laws.

6562  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: June 06, 2019, 02:07:16 AM
I hope this game does not become similar to game 2 where the Raptor's performance declined near the end of the 2nd quarter and continued to play bad on the 3rd and 4th hehehe.
6563  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-01-05] Twitter User Relates Owning 1 Bitcoin [BTC] To Having 700 Acres on: June 06, 2019, 01:45:47 AM
@jseverson. Agreed. However, the argument is not about what the holders consider as bitcoin but if cryptocoins are scarce. Bitcoin can fork again and holders will also have access to the forked coins to sell or to hold.

I reckon if his argument is owning 1 bitcoin relates to 700 acres of land then maybe owning 1 bitcoin cash relates to owning 10 acres of land that would have been 710 acres of land if the fork did not occur.
6564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: JP Morgan introduces Zether protocol on: June 05, 2019, 02:48:08 AM
Jaime Dimon should fire the person who made the name zether. What is it? It sounds very stupid and made up by some ICO scammer hehehe.
6565  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: June 05, 2019, 02:34:31 AM
My predicton powers say that Golden State will win game 3 and game 4 will be a very close game giving the Raptors some space to breathe. I reckon this might occur similar to the eastern conference finals, where game 5 will be a very critical win for both teams.
6566  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: June 05, 2019, 02:00:34 AM
@nydiacaskey01. Tony also has been diagnosed with a mental illness. We might not see a 100% Tony in this fight, I reckon.

Has anyone noticed that his last 4 fights versus Anthony Pettis, Kevin Lee, Rafael dos Anjos and Lando Vanatta were also not outstanding?
6567  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-01-05] Twitter User Relates Owning 1 Bitcoin [BTC] To Having 700 Acres on: June 05, 2019, 12:49:39 AM
Scarcity plays a big part of in the future price of bitcoin. There is only 21 million bitcoins with 1m locked by Satoshi and millions more being carelessly lost forever. This comparison is a good one

Can scarcity apply to software? Bitcoin can be forked many times and the code can be copied to create new coins. It might be that bitcoin is similar to fiat where its value is determined from the trust of the people who uses it.
6568  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-01-05] Twitter User Relates Owning 1 Bitcoin [BTC] To Having 700 Acres on: June 04, 2019, 03:46:20 AM
I shake my head. There will never be a good explanation for his valuation. The market, where bitcoin gets its value can be manipulated. Is he implying that he knows for certain that bitcoin will be manipulated to 700 acres for 1 bitcoin or is he using moon math?
6569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: June 04, 2019, 03:08:32 AM
Here's a general idea. I am sure many of you from Monero have heard of Tari - https://www.tari.com/

Tari will function as an asset stack/sidechain for XMR sort of like how Counterparty (XCP) works with BTC.

However, Tari will have a fairly sizable miner's fee (higher than the 10% one zCash has).

What AEON should do is fork Tari's codebase (not sure if it is publicly available at the moment) and have something like "Ari" as an asset stack/sidechain for AEON that has no miner's fee.

This will be made all the more powerful if AEON successfully forks to an ASIC/FPGA friendly algo and the wallet/blockchain itself will be able to function on phones as was initially planned Wink

This should not do Aeon same as Tari was not made by Monero. This should do someone that will need Aeon miners to secure their coin/token.  Hopefully someone will do that but if you think about it might not happen ( or maybe I am wrong)  since they can rather just make another side chain beside Tari and be mined with Monero again. Much more miners on Monero to secure it.

The idea would be to get AEON to the point where it can operate on say block Nokia phones. Then, the developing world could use AEON and ARI to engage in phone-to-phone transactions as well have some asset issuance, management, etc. exposure.

Andreas Antonopoulos (@aantonop) had a great video on this where BTC could provide first world financial offerings in the developing world. AEON just needs to beat BTC to it Wink

Aeon does not have the infrastructure to beat BTC to it, however. We should be realists. Aeon is a small community and might be a small community forever unless something very negative happened to Monero.
6570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON [2019-03-20: current version is 0.12.9.0] on: June 04, 2019, 02:50:11 AM
I have no desire to run a full BTC node. I have a LTC node however that is about 17GB unpruned.

I run a few Aeon nodes that require no pruning and will likely never need pruning for a long, long , long , long, long , long ,long time unless there is some massive increase in daily TX's. Which by the way have increased a bunch the past 2 months or so.

IMO if you want to operate a full node, you need the entire blockchain with every transaction in history validated individually by yourself or you are "trusting" that other people are true. I don't personally like to trust others with my money. So far from what I've found, Aeon is the only established chain that can do this on an every day mobile device creating a true mobile, decentralized and private blockchain. It just works, no pruning required.

However, you would not have raised your argument if you knew about pruning from the beginning. Also, pruning in Monero was from research and tests done in Aeon, I reckon. Everyone should use it if they must.
6571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [2019-06-03] Bitfinex is looking to launch Tether on the Lightning Network on: June 04, 2019, 02:17:45 AM
Hehehe is Bitfinex moving very quickly to spread Tether in different platforms to make it resistant from shutdowns? The lawyers in the New York attorney general's office will be shaking their heads.

i don't think that is the reason why they are doing that because Tether is still controlled by one company since it is centralized and its shutdown is still super easy only if the government wants to shut it down. all it takes is an FBI raid of their headquarters for it to disappear no matter on what networks it runs.

Why have the FBI not done it yet? That would be gross overreach and out of their jurisdiction. However, you are right. It would take a raid, but the growth of USDT is still shaking their heads hehehe.
6572  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What other pow small market coins can be 100X in the next year? on: June 03, 2019, 03:05:08 AM
This will not be 100x next year, however, I reckon grin can make 100x and more in 10 years. This might be one of the best projects to find solutions for bitcoin's weaknesses as a currency.

Theymos also accepts it as payment for the forum.
6573  Economy / Speculation / Re: SEC delays decision on ETF again on: June 03, 2019, 02:40:26 AM
Agreed. The market did not react negatively when the announcement of the delay was made. This might be the beginning of the disbelief on the U.S. goverment's influence over the cryptospace. I also hope that Bitfinex will win versus the New York attorney general's office to show everyone that they cannot do anything to us with all their power hehehe.
It was expected that they will delay it once again, there was a time when the market would rally when the ETF decision was fast approaching and then die down on hearing that they rejected the proposal, now the market is tired of it and we very well know that the decision will not be coming this time too even though there were talks that they would accept them this time, no one wanted to trust on that news alone and the market has grown outside of those news. Smiley

In that case, I reckon the regulators might finally approve it on October because the intended effect of the rejection on the market is not working anymore hehehe.
6574  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Localbitcoins removes face to face cash trades on: June 03, 2019, 02:09:26 AM
Are there other face to face trading for cash websites for bitcoin or other cryptocoins? Share them in this thread. We must protect our privacy, we must protect our freedom to trade physically, we must not let our oppressors win.

Privacy is a key word in the crypto space, and this is an essential element that defines the very nature of cryptocurrencies. People don’t want their identity revealed and neither their private information.

A recent unfortunate event took place in the crypto space and managed to destroy the whole concept behind the LocalBitcoins platform.

The platform removed the cash trades.

First of all, LocalBitcoins business is now no longer private because it has been ruined by regulators.

Now, the platform is sharing the complete info that users are providing and this includes chat logs and bank data as well.

6575  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-06-02] Gold Bull Peter Schiff: Bitcoin is Having a False Price Rally on: June 03, 2019, 01:14:30 AM
I start to feel sorry for Peter. If you can't admit that Bitcoin throughout the years has proven your predictions wrong, something is wrong with you. He reminds me of some of the more blindfolded Bitcoin maximalists.

Important point is that gold doesn't appeal to people as much as it did before. You're not really booking any progress in terms of hedging fiat's inflation either. It just sits there struggling with that important $1300 level.

I rather have a "false" rally than an asset that hardly moves.

$3k to $8k in 2 months is also not a false rally, however. Also, how would anyone know what a false rally is until after it occured? He can only speculate that this might be a false rally, but this is not a false rally until it is dumped back to $3k.
6576  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [2019-06-03] Bitfinex is looking to launch Tether on the Lightning Network on: June 03, 2019, 12:52:15 AM
Hehehe is Bitfinex moving very quickly to spread Tether in different platforms to make it resistant from shutdowns? The lawyers in the New York attorney general's office will be shaking their heads.

Also, how can Tether be issued in the Lightning Network?

As the stablecoin wars continue to heat up, Bitfinex is looking to bring USDT to more blockchains, announcing earlier today that it will launch its stablecoin on EOS’s blockchain. Currently, Tether is issued on the Omni Layer, Ethereum, and TRON. In the next couple of weeks, the company is also planning to issue USDT on Blockstream’s federated sidechain Liquid.

But chief technology officer Paolo Ardoino told The Block that the firm has ambitions to bring the stablecoin to other blockchains, saying that it will launch the coin on Lightning Network sometime this year. As part of those efforts, Bitfinex has joined a group of developers and companies called RGB, which is working to put more assets on the Lightning Network.

Tether would be the first mainstream asset to be issued on the Lightning Network, which could help the second layer protocol in furthering its adoption. Tether’s competitors, USD Coin, TrueUSD, PAX, Gemini dollar are all issued exclusively on Ethereum.

6577  Economy / Speculation / Re: Billionaire wants to buy 25% of the bitcoin supply on: June 02, 2019, 03:55:25 AM
@WinslowIII. This might be mentioned before, however bitcoin's economy can also become a stagnant oblivion if the holders continue to hold all of their coins without spending them.
6578  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game of Thrones - Who will rule? Odds and betting discussion [Odds updated!] on: June 02, 2019, 03:34:20 AM
I'm probably the only who who doesn't think season 8 was that bad, I really enjoyed it Tongue
Well, except episode 3, that was way too dark to see anything.

I mean everyone wanted to see that epic battle and in the end all the scenes were just way too dark.

It was not bad. It was very disappointing, however. The writers set up some characters for 7 seasons and they ended their story arcs like they have forgotten that there was a set up hehehe.

Does anyone have more rants? Do it now, I will lock the thread in 3 days.

Yes, one more rant LOL. It seems the only actor who was really all praises for the last season was Sophie Turner, even had the guts to call fans "disrespectful". Hope Dark Phoenix would be a floppy bird instead.

Many of the more established actors look visibly pissed, especially Conleth Hill and Peter Dinkelage. Emilia Clarke was kinda sarcastic about it but she look also disappointed. Kit Harrington who outright called it disappointing is now in "rehab".

That's what I tell people saying fans are just picky - even the actors and GRRM were pissed.

Can you share the links where those actors and actresses shared their disappointment?

In any case, I predict the Dark Phoenix will be rated below 60% in rottentomatoes.com hehehe. The trailers have never gotten me excited about it.
6579  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-22] Dutch Authorities Shut Down Bestmixer on: June 02, 2019, 02:28:42 AM
In connection to this news, Bitblender has shutdown its website and mixing service voluntarily. This might be the time for other mixers to improve their set up.

What countries are mixing services welcome? How should mixing services' servers be set up so it would be impossible to shutdown?

However, the number of Bitcoin mixers has dwindled in recent years. Some services pulled an exit scam, whereas others were shut down by the government. One such service was recently targeted by a group of European law enforcement agencies. In the case of Bitcoin Blender, its early demise has a very different reason. It appears the team running the show decided it would be best to end on a high.

This decision is rather unusual, as very few service providers effectively get to shut down on their own accord. For Bitcoin Blender, the news came as a surprise to its users. No further explanation other than a brief message on the project’s website was provided. This leaves a lot of room for speculation as to what went down exactly. However, users are advised to withdraw their funds as soon as possible to avoid any issues.

For a service which has been around for roughly five years, Bitcoin Blender has never gotten into any legal issues as far as users are aware. However, the swift change of direction by the team seems to indicate they may have come under some scrutiny or simply didn’t want to end up like other mixing services. It is possible this is an impulse decision which may be reverted once the dust settles, but for now, things will remain as they are.

6580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Grin Observer - GRN/BTC - Price Movement and Discussion on: June 02, 2019, 12:53:43 AM
Some shitcoins might have the answer to the problems that might occur in bitcoin's monetary policy when all the coins have been mined, however.

I don't know about you, but I am planning on being dead in 2140.

Unless fees will get much higher Bitcoin will face problems much earlier then.  Something like in 20 years.  20 years is a lot, to focus on that right now, since Bitcoin have many other problems to solve first.   Grin definitely not have this problem.  When you start thinking of the future of securing Bitcoins network you realize how silly Roger Ver is with keep repeating how low fees BCH have.

Agreed. I reckon the Grin developers have created the project based from and to address the mistakes of bitcoin's monetary policy.

In any case, are there bitcoin developers rumored to be working on Grin under Harry Potter pseudonyms?
