6701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: April 30, 2019, 01:18:16 AM
IMHO XRP is a great coin for the speculation) Don't care about centralization) Almost all coins now depends on 1 person. Remember rumors about Buterin car crash?
But agree, this holy war is simply beautiful)) On the one hand, the adepts under the banner of the other BTP order tapliers

IMHO if anyone thinking that in crypto there some coins that truly decentralized (Except maybe BTC) they are just fanatics) All coins linked with big money from the fiat world)

Actually, BTC is one of more centralized ones, both by pools (3 or 4 big ones can do 51% attack), and by country (China alone can attack it)

Agreed! Bitcoin mining is becoming centralized. However, this does not change that Ripple is a centralized platform. It will only stop being centralized if Ripple finds a decentralized consensus process on adding nodes in the Trusted Nodes List.
6702  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: April 29, 2019, 04:33:54 AM
@LTU_btc. This will also be another boring season, I reckon.

Also, maybe Toto Wolff wants his own Michael Schumacher similar to Ross Brawn and wants Lewis to break Michael's driver's championship record.
6703  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game of Thrones - Who will rule? Odds and betting discussion [Odds updated!] on: April 29, 2019, 04:19:21 AM

 Grin

I am sorry for your loss. Is it the money or the character, I shall not spoil it hehehe.

No spoilers. It was a good episode, however I was a little disappointed. I reckon that storyline should have been expanded. I reckon they can make it a season long storyline.

Spoiler discussions tomorrow hehehe.
6704  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-26] CNBC: Bitcoin price falls on NY AG Bitfinex probe on: April 29, 2019, 03:52:14 AM
@figmentofmyass. How about Goldman Sachs, which has an investment in Circle, which also owns Poloniex and has issued its own stablecoin USDC?

There is also JPMorgan that will be releasing its own coin which might be another stablecoin. I reckon the 2 of them have the political influence in New York to use to attack Tether.
6705  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: April 29, 2019, 03:34:45 AM

In simple words, Ripple admits that currently it's centralised but in future, it'll be decentralised.

Interesting.

Or, even simpler, Ripple currently runs 26% validators, while only 3 biggest BTC pools control enough hashrate to make 51% attack

So you need either 17 players to attack XRP, or 3 to attack BTC

However, the people behind Ripple decides who becomes a trusted validator to include in their Trusted Node List. This is the reason why the Ripple platform is centralized.

Also, where can we see the list of all validators and who is included in the Trusted Node List?

@JollyGood. Agreed. Ripple might make you a lot of bitcoins or fiat similar to other altcoins in the bull market, however, this is not the argument.
6706  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-26] CNBC: Bitcoin price falls on NY AG Bitfinex probe on: April 28, 2019, 03:06:42 AM
Reading between the lines, I reckon that this fud had the real purpose of trying to damage Tether and USDT. How politically influencial are the Winklevoss brothers in New York? They might want the whole Tether stablecoin market conquered by their own Gemini stablecoin.

Also, why is no one mentioning of the fraud that Cryptocapital did to Bitfinex? Will the New York attorney general also investigate that?
6707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON [2019-03-20: current version is 0.12.9.0] on: April 28, 2019, 02:32:55 AM
@bigslimvdub. It was Bitmain testing their hardware all along hehehe.

In any case, this is the beginning. I would expect other Asic manufacturers to follow also.

Sold all AEONs out.
Sorry guys...

I am sorry to see you go. You might be late, however. Aeon appears to be stable and I reckon it might be the time to begin buying again.
6708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Grin Observer - GRN/BTC - Price Movement and Discussion on: April 28, 2019, 02:18:57 AM
42k sats and all is well...
40000 - 42000 satoshis is a very good range to accumulate Grincoin, that got attention of theymos since its start and added as the second payment means for Copper Membership in the forum. I missed the flight of Grin coin months ago (early of 2019). It is not actually because I did not see or hear about Grin coin, its mainly due to my hesitation to invest into such very young altcoin, at extreme high price. So, I decided waiting to see it falls and my chances to fill my bag with cheap Grin coin. Now, it's the time to do it (just in my opinion, and for my portfolio). I don't suggest anyone else to buy the coin, instantly because it is probably that Grin coin will stuck there for weeks, or even months before accumulation in the range finish.

However, you should not forget Grin's monetary policy which was designed to make the coin's price low for the first 25 years, I reckon. Theymos also said that it might fall to $0.50.

It also has low demand, no acceptance and the wallet is not easy to use for newbies.
6709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: April 28, 2019, 01:13:41 AM

However, who decides which nodes, which they call validators but are not automatically validators, are included in the Unique Node List, which should be called Trusted Node List. Who?

Read this from your link.

It's important to understand that merely issuing validation messages does not automatically give your validator a say in the consensus process. Other servers ignore your validation messages unless they add your validator to their Unique Node List (UNL). If your validator is included in a UNL, it is a trusted validator and its proposals are considered in the consensus process by the servers that trust it.

In any case, do not worry. You will understand in time.

Congrats on cherry picking only parts that prove your point. For clarity, and for ofher people in this thread that would maybe
like real info instead FUD, allow me to copy/paste what you omit:

"Which UNL should I select?
Since anybody can run a validator, the burden is on the network participants to choose a reliable set. Currently, Ripple provides a default and recommended list which we expand based on watching the history of validators operated by Ripple and third parties. Eventually, Ripple intends to remove itself from this process entirely by having network participants select their own lists based on publicly available data about validator quality.

If Ripple recommends adoption of its UNL, doesn’t that create a centralized system?
No. The XRP Ledger network is opt-in. Each participant directly or indirectly chooses its UNL. Should Ripple stop operating or should Ripple act maliciously, participants could change their UNLs to continue using the XRP Ledger"

Keywords are currently and eventually. In this moment in time Ripple is centralized. Only Ripple chooses who to be included in its Trusted Node List. It is also only Ripple who distributes and decides who or where to distribute the undistributed tokens in the platform.

I am not cherry picking.

LMAO

Don't laugh, maybe he was away for a year or two and didn't follow latest developments regarding Ripple and XRP

Maybe he was laughing because Sling Blade looks similar to Ripple's chief cryptographer hehehe.

I do not follow Ripple closely. However, unless their developers open the validation process to everyone, Ripple is a centalized payment system and this might make it easier for the SEC to shut it down.

Its open to everyone for quite a long time

https://developers.ripple.com/run-rippled-as-a-validator.html

there is difference between ordinary and trusted validators, but even if you start as ordinary one, you still have a role in network

However, who decides which nodes, which they call validators but are not automatically validators, are included in the Unique Node List, which should be called Trusted Node List. Who?

@gentlemand. However, what is your assessment of this new Bitfinex issue? Will they get out of it or is this finally their time?

My hope is they get out of it to show everyone that regulators cannot and will not have any way to enforce any type of regulations in the cryptospace effectively hehehe.
6712  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC on ESPN 3: Jacare vs Hermansson Prediction and Info Thread on: April 27, 2019, 01:01:35 AM
Notes

-Greg Hardy and Dimitrii Smoliakov trained together @ american top team when Greg Hardy first began training in mixed martial arts. There's an interesting dynamic there where Smoliakov likely feels his greater experience will give him an advantage while Greg Hardy likely believes his athleticism and the improvements he's made since he first started training MMA will allow him to get the win.

-Jack Hermansson is very good on the ground having defeated decorated brazilian jiu jitsu ace Thales Leites and David Branch. That fight could be decided on the feet although I wouldn't put it past Hermansson to take it to the ground--which is interesting given how virtually no one Jacare has fought has tried to go to the ground with him.

-Glover Teixeira appears to have lost some of his explosiveness and speed. He is no longer the heavy handed knockout artist. He can still get it done with his wrestling and his ground game. Aside from that it looks like he's past his prime and no longer the top 5 or perhaps even top 10 fighter he used to be.

-Jacare (Ronaldo Souza) was verbally promised the next title shot @ 185 lbs if he defeats Jack Hermansson.

-Virna Jandiroba is the current 115 lb champion from invicta in case anyone doesn't recognize her name.

Agreed on Glover Teixeira. He also has a predictable pattern of win-loss-win-loss-win- in his last 5 fights. A loss would complete the pattern hehehe.

@nydiacaskey01. Why is there so much hype on Greg Hardy?
6713  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-26] CNBC: Bitcoin price falls on NY AG Bitfinex probe on: April 27, 2019, 12:26:43 AM
I am bewildered on how Bitfinex's executives are good in problem solving. The exchange has been in the middle of bad controversies but appears to get out of them without anyone of their executives going to prison. That is impressive hehehe!
6714  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-22]American bitcoin trader may face death penalty over 'sea home' on: April 26, 2019, 11:59:31 PM
the trouble with that mindset is that somebody has to do something first, even if it's one step in a series of incremental steps. [..]. taking the simplest foundational steps first at least means something actually happened, instead of endless talking about it
Yep, I actually agree here, as an experiment it's interesting.

However, the problem in my eyes is more the focus of the project - a solitary seastead home always will need a State or at least a community near for essential services. In this case, it becomes fundamental that this community accepts your presence, which was something that seems to have been lacking in their plans which focused more on physical geography (climate, water depth etc.).

This is a more general critique I have for several "libertarian" projects, not only for Elwar. As I wrote I don't consider libertarian communities without a State impossible, but a lot of factors are often not taken into account.

It is not impossible, however, it would also need a type of protection that only a state can provide. Real military protection with soldiers willing to die to protect your liberty.
6715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Grin Observer - GRN/BTC - Price Movement and Discussion on: April 25, 2019, 03:51:13 AM
@CjMapope. That would be easy to predict if we take into account that bitcoin is beginning to be bullish again. However, where would grin be in US dollar value in 3 months is the real issue. Can it lose $2 in value?
6716  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game of Thrones - Who will rule? Odds and betting discussion [Odds updated!] on: April 25, 2019, 03:27:16 AM

Some pretty crazy changes to the main 'Who will sit on the Iron Throne' odds today - Sansa is now ahead of Bran, and Gendry is ahead of both Jon and Tyrion!

Surely this must have something to do with a leak?

I'm a little worried that some of the characters that have been tipped to die in episode 3 have dropped from the market too  Embarrassed

Ronnie @ Cloudbet

Which leak are you talking about? There are many leaks posted on Reddit and I am certain that all of them are fake.

Also, would Cloudbet consider offering odds for movie box office opening and ratings?

6717  Economy / Speculation / Re: No bull market for 2019 on: April 25, 2019, 02:40:45 AM
Why do people think a rich guy will know something they don't? He is guessing not doing "technical analysis". There is simply not anywhere close to enough data to do that, no matter what you have been told.

The rich guy having the trust of other rich guys by investing in his investment fund gives him the appearance of an authority figure. It also comes from the people's belief and trust in the bitcoin news media and the mainstream news media where the authority figures are given airtime.

More bullish bitcoin news, more altcoin death news hehehe.

The trader also shared a chart that calls for a BTC dominance target of 64%, up 10% from yesterday’s 54% dominance. What’s not clear, though, is if dominance will rise due to altcoins bleeding further, or due to Bitcoin further rallying.

Another analyst, DonAlt, however, thinks it’s the former, and warns that “capitulation” may just be beginning. He called the messages he received from his followers asking if they should liquidate their altcoin holdings “heartbreaking.”

We cannot protect our own sovereignty without a military backing it. Be ready to die fighting for it. This is where the Libertarians do not get it.

In any case, agreed with vit05. I hope he resolves this legal issue and goes back home laughing at the crazy experience.
6719  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-23] SoftBank Founder Masayoshi Son Lost $130 Million on Bitcoin on: April 25, 2019, 01:02:50 AM
according to people familiar with the matter

True or not, this news is another sensationalistic garbage from the financial news media to get more hits. It also creates an indirect kind of fud to scare people away from buying bitcoin, I reckon.
6720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: April 24, 2019, 02:43:15 AM
@estenity. Yes it has, 10 years ago. But no hype can cause Aeon to be pumped, however. I reckon you want to dump some coins if there was a pump?

You are not alone hehehe.
