701  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: May 09, 2016, 05:11:12 AM
Well the way my betting is going at the moment, I think I will go against my gut.

I would expect West Ham to win at home to Man Utd, but as I say, my thoughts seem to be pretty consistently wrong at the moment, so I think I will go for Man Utd to win!
702  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price lowering a bit on: May 08, 2016, 09:22:05 AM
Are you predicting the next few hours?
The price is up about 20 bucks this week, why cry about the price momentarily falling 1 dollar back down?

The price could rise or fall today, that is basically a coin toss, but in the longer term I expect the price to rise.
703  Economy / Economics / Re: 2016 Has Brought a Bitcoin Awakening on: May 08, 2016, 09:20:25 AM
But what size does the market have to be to be big enough?
I would say at least 1 trillion, but that is a 150x rise from here.  I am optimistic, but I don't see 1 bitcoin being worth 50k anytime soon!

Baby steps should raise the cap to over 15 Billion again at some point, still chicken feed for economies and even super rich people, but a good bit better than now!
704  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: May 08, 2016, 09:17:12 AM
I am a bit sad that VfB were (pretty much) relegated.  They have kind of been a good team to laugh at for the last couple of years as they throw away chances like it is a hobby!

They are gone now anyway, I hope they bounce back though.  I hope Frankfurt take the last relegation spot, and lose in the play off!
705  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: May 08, 2016, 09:13:39 AM
Well I was wrong yesterday about Man Utd screwing Newcastle over, it was in fact Chelsea that stepped up to the plate!

Today I see Liverpool and Tottenham winning, I am not sure with Man City and Arsenal, Man City have been so bad in the league recently, but they could step up for a big game against Arsenal, so I would rather leave it alone for betting.
706  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is not the currency of the people and likely never will be on: May 08, 2016, 09:11:31 AM
Or this could be treated as most bitcoins are being held by Chinese people since they have control on half of the mining industry and trading transactions.
Do you actually know that they are being held by Chinese people/miners or is that just what you think is possible?
It is not great that so few addresses hold so many bitcoin, but it is probably preferable than that they keep dumping and keeping the price low!

I think some of the addresses will be old and now unused, others will be exchanges and ETFs, actual private people holding more than 10k Bitcoins must be very rare
707  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Theoretically there will be exactly no bitcoins in the future. on: May 07, 2016, 07:48:15 AM
Just dividing down in an endless deflation is also quite dangerous.
What if someone in the year 3000 finds a USB stick with 50 bitcoins on it and that is equivilant to $100billion now?

Ok it is an extreme example, but could happen in a constantly deflating world.
708  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Spanish League Prediction Thread (La Liga) on: May 07, 2016, 07:28:04 AM
Hard to see one of the big three losing today.  Real don't seem to be on top form, but at home vs Valencia shouldn't be too difficult.
Barca will have to fight a bit in their derby game, but they should still easily win.

Athletico have it super easy, I can see them getting 5 goals today.
709  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: May 07, 2016, 07:25:29 AM
Man Utd never win when I want them to win.  I was an ardent Man U hater for all their years at the top, maybe once a season I would hope that they would win, but they would always draw or lose those games.

Therefore I think that Norwich will get a point out of today's game, just to screw over Newcastle.  I am being optimistic in saying that they won't win.
710  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: May 07, 2016, 07:23:07 AM
I fear that Mainz have nothing to play for, and have shut down for the season.  VfB need to win to stay away from automatic relegation, so I expect them to fight for a win.

The same could be said for Dortmund against Eintracht, but I think the class difference will show and Dortmund will win that one.
711  Economy / Securities / Re: Mycelium Crowdsale , Are you investing ? on: May 06, 2016, 01:59:58 PM
I don't like these kind of investments.  There has to be a limit to the number of shares bought, otherwise each person investing is actually pushing down the value for everyone else!

I invested in Neo and Bee and long time ago now, since then I said I wouldn't get involved in any ICOs or bitcoin start ups, so I will be giving this one a miss too.

Good luck to those who do invest though, I really do hope it is successful.
712  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 'A bit of a cunt' on: May 06, 2016, 06:48:47 AM
He has certainly played it like someone that you describe.
He says that he is Satoshi - he shouts it loud from the hilltops

Then when he realizes that his proof isn't really proof, he says he is scared and doesn't want to prove it anymore, but he still is...

yeah, if he is or isn't satoshi, he sounds like a bit of a ...
713  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin still be the preferred cryptocurrency after 10 years? on: May 06, 2016, 05:24:43 AM
The question isn't even clear, so it is pretty hard to give an answer.  After 10 years of being made, would only be a couple of years, so most probably Bitcoin will stay no 1.

In 10 years time, i.e. 2026, I would expect that a more transactional crypto will be number 1.  Bitcoin is too slow and limited on number of transactions to be used for everyday small transactions, so I expect a better Crypto to take over.  I expect that that crypto hasn't been made yet.
714  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: MLB Extra Innings Betting on: May 06, 2016, 05:20:43 AM
lots of people are making stupid comments on this thread.
If you can bet at 1.08 when the actual chance of it happening are less than 1 in 12.4, then you will make money in the long run.

Don't add in poor value bets just so that it looks a bit sexier. Think of it more like an investment, 8% in a few hours is massive!  Just make sure you know the stats for how many games go into OT, otherwise if you are just guessing, you will lose in the long run.
715  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: May 06, 2016, 05:17:06 AM
I think the champions league has something a bit special about it, as it is an all Madrid affair, but would Sevilla vs Villarreal really be a great game?
Spain is clearly the strongest league at the moment, but I certainly don't hope that they dominate even more than they do, they have a certain style of play, I personally don't love how they play, so I hope English, German or Dutch teams start to make a come back soon.
716  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Zug - a city in Switzerland accepts BTC / Pay cycle messenger with BTC in Bern on: May 05, 2016, 09:31:33 AM
I think I'd rather use my mobile data, if I log onto the local Wifi surely they could tamper with or intercept my transaction.
If I use a public network, I don't use it for anything financial.
717  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Zug - a city in Switzerland accepts BTC / Pay cycle messenger with BTC in Bern on: May 05, 2016, 08:56:08 AM
People always talked about the Switzerland of bitcoin, maybe it can be Switzerland after all!
The Americans have started to force the Swiss banks to open their books, meaning that the super rich can't hold their money in Swiss banks anymore.

Maybe they will start to look at Bitcoin, that would be a real influx of money!  As for Zug, nice, but I doubt many will pay their bills in Bitcoin until it is used far more widely than now.
718  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: May 05, 2016, 08:52:45 AM
Man City just aren't that good, I think they were quite lucky to get to the semi-finals.
Real against Atletico should be a great game, I don't know where the final will be played, hopefully not Moscow or somewhere else too far away!

Real will most probably win, but Atlectico deserve it more in my opinion.
719  Economy / Economics / Re: Why are Venezuelan not switching to Bitcoin? on: May 05, 2016, 08:51:02 AM
if you were middle class in Venezuela, would you really not think about trying to procure a few (10-20) bitcoins?
Mining must be easier to track than just buying a few bitcoin.  They are getting destroyed by inflation at the moment, I would like to think that I would be getting my savings into PMs and bitcoin.

I think many of us in the west expect hyper-inflation at some point, if we generally accept that in the case of hyper-inflation our PMs and Bitcoin will be useless, then what is the point!
720  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the effect of knowing Satoshi on bitcoin price? on: May 04, 2016, 01:07:05 PM
That bitcoin gets in the press a little more is good for the price.  Especially as this time it isn't for a massive pump and/or dump!
If the real Satoshi shows himself I see that it could go either way.  He might dump, which would be a nightmare, or he could try to move Bitcoin back on track, which would be great!

I don't think we will ever know 100% who Satoishi is, I expect lots of unconfirmed rumours, but hopefully he is now pseudonymous now, for good.
