701  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Digital Platforms should accept Bitcoin - Makes more sense on: December 15, 2022, 10:29:57 PM
Why are they lagging behind the sole idea of it?

They had the idea but then they need to consider the economic factor and regulation that is currently implemented.  They failed to implement Bitcoin payment option because they think that it will cause them problems when it comes to countries where their business is operating.

Not because Bitcoin is a digital currency, company must implement it, after all people have choices and freedom to execute it.  Behind these freedoms are regulation and possible consequences.   I think this huge company thinks that it is better for them to not implement Bitcoin as mode of payment unless there is a clearer regulation about using it.
702  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 99% of People Will Lose Crypto in Self Custody on: December 15, 2022, 09:55:08 PM
He make sense and we've been telling people that it's best to keep their crypto assets to a non custodial wallet, wherein they have the full control of their funds.

Who make sense? Binance CEO is not encouraging people to a self custody because he thinks people are too imbecile to secure their own funds.

He said that personally after knowing that people are withdrawing and sending it to another exchange after the Binance FUD has been spread. Well, we need more CEO that are honest but not only when they're attacked.

Well of course he need to protect his business but he should not be the one to say that 99% of people will lose crypto in self custody because his exchange has been hacked and so is his created BNB .  So when it comes to protecting funds from hackers, I think CZ has no say about it.
703  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will Sam Bankman-Fried go to jail? on: December 13, 2022, 11:07:05 PM
It looks like the question of @OP had been answered. SBF was arrested and is now denied of bail by Bahama's prosecutors.  It looks like the investigation will not stop on him because of lots of charges files against him including the conspiracy behind the FTX collapse.  Regardless I hope SBF be treated well, and deny him of VIP status so that he will experience the punishment of his wrong doings.
704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SBF, arrested! on: December 13, 2022, 10:25:02 AM
I hope the arrest isn't for show only like when the off-camera SBF is living like a king with all the assistant and lavish living.

Most of these guys are excellent entrepreneurs and financial gurus, but they lack basic business skills and how to manage a business. Karpeles did the same thing with Mt Gox.... and the whole thing collapsed.  Roll Eyes

You sound conflicting  Cheesy  Entrepreneur and financial gurus are knowledgeable about money flow so automatically the person is knowledgeable on how to run a business.  Don't misunderstood technical knowledge on Bitcoin and TA with running business.  Businessman maybe not knowledgeable on laws and regulation that is why they hire lawyer for it.
705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FTX drama stressing people for no reason | How to stay neutral on: December 13, 2022, 09:53:40 AM
Yeah this is going to stick for a while now. In amazon is now making mini series based on the FTX collapse which means we are going to remember the FTX drama for very very long time. I just hope they do it as positive lesson for crypto community and future generations who are the new aspirants to take bitcoin in right direction. They must not make negative impression with this series.

Neither we should keep talking about it any further. I think what’s happen is happen, now it’s time to learn from it and go ahead with more decentralised storyline. Smiley
I dont really believe on lesson learned because people would eventually be repeating on the same mistakes where if these issues wouldnt be heard out anymore then people would just forget it and starting to store uptheir coins on exchange platforms or any centralized services which its never been recommended in the first place. We've been keeping on saying that its never been wise to store up your coins on an exchange

Victims will surely learned their lesson, but newbie and naive investors will always repeat what other had done wrong like holding cryptocurrency in an exchange.  Since they are new in the industry, they probably lack knowledge or too trusting in the exchange they are using.

but people do keep on doing that until disaster happens and this is where they do just whine and cry and make out some regrets. Some cant just forget these disasters but time would
pass by and when its forgotten then we would see on the same scenario once again.

True, newcomers keep on doing the mistakes done by others.  Even with all the reminders and discussion about not keeping cryptocurrency on exchanges, they will ignore these reminders and regret when they lost their investment due to hack, rugpull, exit scam or bankruptcy of exchanges.
706  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 5 Bear Market Mistakes to Avoid on: December 12, 2022, 11:34:27 PM
OP forgot to list random investing in a crashing cryptocurrency.  We should do our research every time we intend to invest to something.  We should check and research the fundamental of the target cryptocurrency and verify its foundation if it can withstand the test of time.  If we are to invest in a long term we must know that it has a solid foundation because if it has no solid foundation then our money that we invest will be wasted or gone.
707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I failed to notice this all along on: December 12, 2022, 11:05:46 PM
It has been proven that project that lock their token and slowly released them open a window for new investors to hop in.  It is beneficial for incoming investors and the project developer but somehow devastating to investors.  The reason is already stated by @OP and to give another example is the UTK token when the price of the token crash when they the vested time for release matured.

I agree that whenever we see this kind of tokenomics, we shouldn't rush ourselves to buy the token instead we can wait for the release of the vested token because holders of those token are very eager to profit and sell their newly released token.
708  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will not become the world currency. on: December 12, 2022, 10:42:29 PM
After I figured it out, I no longer expect Bitcoin to be recognized by the state, and it doesn't need to be.
You will still need countries to legalize Bitcoin and allow it to be used in your country. Because if your country prohibits it, then you won't be able to transact there, whether it's for trading or for service payments.

He can still transact with Bitcoin even a country did not legalize the use of it.  But of course if you do illegal things, there is always consequences.

It is part of a special asset, not a currency.
So I don't think Bitcoin is going to become a fiat currency.
Bitcoin in some countries is recognized as a currency, while some countries treat BTC as a commodity asset, and some other countries ban bitcoins in their territories. But none of the countries and users think that Bitcoin will become a fiat, because Bitcoin is not a fiat, and will never be a fiat.

True Bitcoin will never be a fiat currency because government won't reissue it as their fiat currency.  The government will not take responsibility on Bitcoin.  Government will only allow it as legal tender, mode of payment or an alternative to fiat currency.
709  Economy / Economics / Re: Only one way to save people now on: December 12, 2022, 09:51:28 PM

The solution is Simple leave fiat banks and go crypto.

it's not that easy friends, because as we know, the introduction of crypto in the world is not comprehensive, so in my opinion it is still difficult to do.
and this requires a process if you want to implement payments with crypto itself if one day this happens

Besides not all merchants are accepting cryptocurrency.  You can check if we are able to live with crypto without converting our cryptocurrency to fiat currency.  Once we did that all the transaction will undergo bank clearance.   So it isn't not that easy, it is impossible considering the situation of cryptocurrency adoption.  You can not use Bitcoin on supermarket and malls in my country.  So how can we live or survive if we totally move to crypto.
710  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin is Islamic" -by Economist Bruce Fenton on: December 11, 2022, 10:08:38 PM
We need people who understand this field, not in this forum either, if they think bitcoin is Islamic, there should be Islamic religious leaders who research it, at least religious leaders who are also familiar with current technology are not only based on Islamic law but must be seen from the technological aspect.

Technology and theology are two separate entity.  Influencing one with the other will greatly affect its impact to the society.  I believe the person who stated that Bitcoin is Islamic wanted to tap the Muslim people into diving on the Bitcoin properties more.  The guy wanted to get the interest of Muslim government in a positive way.  Nevertheless, any propaganda Economist Bruce Fenton in mind is probably aligned to boost the adoption of Bitcoin in Muslim countries.

sometimes there are many different opinions from religious leaders because maybe there are some religious leaders who don't understand this technology and only explain about the law, now this must be put together in order to get a really clear law, if I'm neutral as long as it's my money and don't use money other people to invest so yeah it's safe  Wink

The problem with religious leader is that they felt that they are entitled to everything especially the right to dictate what their followers have to do.  Most of them are stucked in their religious articles and often disregard technologies and breakthroughs, even announcing the technology advancement as way of the devils without understanding the real usage and function of that technology.
711  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What awareness would this bring to bitcoin on: December 11, 2022, 09:50:40 PM

When I looked at these numbers it got me thinking about how much awareness it would create for bitcoin if this money was paid in bitcoin to these teams. Would we ever live in that kind of world?

Football is a very popular sports, so having football rewards paid in Bitcoin will greatly bring awareness to most people especially fans of Football. It will also bring demands to the market because the Football rewarding body will have to buy BTC in order to execute the plan of paying rewards in BTC.

But as much as that is an interesting stuff, I doubt Football will change its way and pay the reward in BTC.  Paying in USD is much more easier since they don't have to go to the marketplace and buy BTC.  And thinking that teams converting back their received Bitcoin in USD right after they received it makes the idea a joke.
712  Economy / Economics / Re: A new dimension in the FTX saga: Sam doesn't read books! on: December 11, 2022, 09:16:31 PM
Unfortunately, Sam Bankman-Fried's views about compressing books in blog forms are shared by most youths of this generation. Most of them seem to be on the fast lane to achieve success without investing time in the foundational knowledge of a particular field or endeavor.

The thing is that SBF success is staged.  He never work hard for his success but someone worked hard for him by using the social media to make him a sensation.  If he is truly what the earlier said about him being genius kid, he shouldn't have commit the mistakes he did in FTX.

The former FTX boss has accepted to appear before the Senate Financial committee but he warned that his testimony wouldn't be helpful. He stated that his comments might not reveal what the lawmakers wanted because they would not be detailed.

It wouldn't be helpful because he will be there for attendance purpose only and will lie about the truth of what happened in the FTX.  Possibly he will point the mistake on the CEO of ALAMEDA and wish that it is enough to bail himself out.
713  Economy / Economics / Bitcoin Investors to Get Richer When Fed Pivots, Prints Trillions of Dollars on: December 11, 2022, 07:58:12 PM

Quote
The famous author has warned on several occasions that the U.S. pension crisis is much worse than we thought. In 2020, he co-authored a book titled “Who Stole My Pension?” with Edward Siedle. In the book, the authors discussed “the greatest retirement crisis in the history of our nation and … the entire world.” When pension funds almost collapsed recently in England, Kiyosaki warned that a similar situation could happen in the U.S.

Kiyosaki previously explained that “the U.S. dollar became fake money” when President Richard Nixon removed it from the gold standard in 1971. “This is because rather than being tied to real money,” such as gold, “it was tied to the ‘full faith and credit’ of the United States,” the Rich Dad Poor Dad author noted. In September, he said the end of fake money is here; he expects the U.S. dollar to crash by January.

The renowned author has said repeatedly that he doesn’t trust the Federal Reserve, the Treasury, President Joe Biden, and Wall Street. In February, he warned that the Fed and the Treasury are destroying the U.S. dollar, advising people to buy bitcoin.

He recently stressed that cryptocurrency cannot be blamed for the collapse of crypto exchange FTX, emphasizing that bitcoin is not the problem. He called former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried the Bernie Madoff of crypto. Earlier this month, Kiyosaki explained that he is a bitcoin investor, not a trader, and he gets excited when BTC hits a new botto

I always look up at Rober Kiyosaki when it comes to financial motivation and advises.  I had been following this guy's insights and read his books.  So I was relieved when I known that he is also invested in Bitcoin, which means I made the right decision when I engaged myself in Bitcoin community.  There is not much tosay in this thread since the explanation is pretty clear that the USD is bound to collapse ever since President Richard Nixon removed it from the gold standard in 1971.

714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks Launches Beta of Web3 Odyssey on Polygon Network on: December 11, 2022, 06:35:22 PM

This is very good news for the entire Polygon ecosystem, but we have to remember that the program being carried out by Starbucks is in Beta mode, meaning that there will be more news in the future, it could be news about discontinuing or upgrading the program. But whatever it is, we also need to remember that this Starbucks idea is news that has a very positive impact on crypto as a whole.

I feel excited about the development of Polygon Market when I read this news.  Even though this is only a Beta launch, I am wondering what would be the effect if the ecosystem flourish and the program become popular.  With the current cheap price of Polygon, there is no doubt that the potential of the market to go up multiple times is very huge.  Aside from Starbucks, Polygon had been active tapping company and industries to consider using their network for their cryptocurrency integration.
715  Economy / Services / Re: Utopia P2P Ecosystem 💎 | Review Campaign 🔎| Participate Now! on: December 10, 2022, 05:01:36 AM
Even though the experience of using the exchange is great, I still think that we need more layer of security like 2fa because I still think that an account can be hacked if someone happen to know your public key and happen to guess the right password.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think even if the people knows your PK they won't be able to access your account as they will need the actual file (DB file) and should know the password in order to open the Utopia account and connect to the CRP.is exchange site.

In other words, people cannot hacked your account even if they know your PK or password but they can hack you if they get your DB file and open it with your password. I think the 2FA in UMail is a good option too.

You can log in on CRP.is even with the P2P ecosystem is offline.  It only needs public key and our password to log in, I just tried it now.

edit:

sorry for the late reply I was finishing my user feedback post
716  Economy / Services / Re: Utopia P2P Ecosystem 💎 | Review Campaign 🔎| Participate Now! on: December 10, 2022, 04:27:22 AM
Just dropping by to give a user experience.

Utopia P2p Ecosystem:

Slick design, kinda confusing for the first timer but will eventually get used to it after several use.

Login and public key creation :  Just like metamask, and other wallet creation, we are required to create a username the cool thing is that there is a welcome pop up that give us description of the wallet function.   After the filling up of basic information, we are prompt on where to save the wallet file and password set up. After that the generation of wallet  is done. Prompting us to the gui of the application.

Application Gui: The application Gui look like a combination of  a messenger and an email.  It is quite confusing but then there is a help function that will help us to familiarize in its Icon name and function.  It is really an interesting design because it is a wallet, messenger, mail in one.  There is also channels where we can join and have chat with other user of the Utopia P2P application.

The file function enable us to export database, back-up our private key and change our password.

Umail act as a mailing service where we can send and receive email and is an essential to communicating with the Crypton exchange.

IM act as messenger where we can receive texted messages.

Channel : This is a group where we can join and chat with other users

Tools: as the word stated it is a tab where all the functions and tools to be found.

Games: surprisingly there is a P2P game feature in this application where we can play game of Chess or poker with other users.

Help:  It is where we can find the general description of what is in the application.  This is a huge help for new users, lucky the developer did not forget to add this to the application.

Network:  There is no problem connecting with the network, I am always at full green connection, meaning the network is healthy.  There is also an option called network eyes that show where we are connected.  There is also an indicators that shows the network activities.  There is also a console where you can see general message log and a debug where it shows a more complex stuff.

User Experience:

At first using the Application is a bit confusing, we need time to familiarized with it.  There are lots of things offered in this application that can possibly useful in the future but as a new user this adds a complexity to the apps making it confusing.  I may suggest that in the next application update I hope we are able to see description when we hover the mouse on the function listed on the dashboard.

Crypton Exchange in relation to the Utopia P2P Ecosystem
Registration:  It is fast and easy just need our utopia public key and preferred password to register. Upon registration the exchange will send a message via chat which can be check on the IM panel of Utopia P2p Ecosystem application.

Site Interface.  Very simple and straight forward. It is very easy to navigate, new users will not have problem using it.

Notification:  User is notified of his exchange account activity via email which can be received in the uMail tab.

Deposit:  Crediting deposit is very fast, the moment the required confirmation is met, it will credited to the account asap, deposit notification is also sent to the Utopia P2P Ecosystem application.

Trading:  For now trading pairs is limited and it is understandable because the site is new.  I have no trouble trading CRP to USDT which can be withdrawable through TRC20 network.

Withdrawal:  Once the withdrawal request is done, a notification mail will be sent to the Umail.  It is processed in less than 1 minute. We can withdraw the fund on any address we wanted to fund to be withdrawn, there is no need for 2fa which I think is lacking for better security.

History:  The site also save our financial and trade history.  Financial history is the record of  our deposit, withdrawal and fee, while trading history is what the name stated.

Market View: This is the tab where we can see the trades, buy order, sell order and price chart of the trading pairs.

User Experience:

I have no problem using the site because it is very straightforward and easy.  The interface does not alienate its user because the feeling of using it is like using a centralized exchange, the only difference is that there is no need for email and KYC.  because all transaction is connected to our Wallet public key address and the communication is established between the two.  It is a new experience to me in terms of creating an account and communication.

Even though the experience of using the exchange is great, I still think that we need more layer of security like 2fa because I still think that an account can be hacked if someone happen to know your public key and happen to guess the right password. To combat this kind of hacking I think they can add a verification option on the Utopia P2P ecosystem apps for every withdrawal made.  It is possible require an OTP and send the code to the UMail.

717  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first sponsored Bitcoin seminar on: December 10, 2022, 03:46:02 AM
Congratulation on a successful Bitcoin seminar.  What do you mean by sponsored Bitcoin seminar?  Are you saying you got paid doing this seminar?  I hope this isn't some company orientation where people are required to attend before investing into some Ponzi scheme.  Sorry to be a bit negative but I have heard of lots of fraud company sponsoring cryptocurrency seminars so that people will think that they have legit business involving with cryptocurrency.  After Bitcoin and cryptocurrency discussion, where they emphasize on the growth of Bitcoin and several people who got rich because of Bitcoin.  And when people got amazed and emotional on how people who engage in Bitcoin get rich, they will then present their marketing plan enticing people to join their scheme.

Anyway, I hope your kind of session isn't like that one.

Quote
BTC To promote Bitcoin awareness.

This is a great thing to do I admire you having this kind of compassion in promoting Bitcoin
Quote
BTC To educate people on what Bitcoin really entails.

I believe you will educate people in the right way, not only focusing on the profit that they can have and also give them the risk of involving in scam company that exploit Bitcoin.

Quote
BTC To increase the adoption of Bitcoin.

Hopefully you can guide them to the right kind of adoption and educate them about Ponzi scheme company that pretends to be affiliated or engage in Bitcoin trading and other activities when the truth is they are just around to milk unwary investors of their money.
718  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you work on Bitcoin full-time? on: December 10, 2022, 02:59:06 AM
Early members of this forum had gain enough wealth to focus their time in the forum and dedicate majority of it to either involve themselves in a discussion, give advice and help newbies how to do stuff about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency stuff.  Aside from general Bitcoin discussion, there is a technical board that is dedicated in discussing script and programs, and troubleshooting codes to make them work perfectly.  There is also this Mining board, where they discuss the different algorithm and how to setup, troubleshoot mining rigs setup.

Aside from those voluntary work, business in this forum is also booming, you can check the Marketplace, the service announcement and many more.  The forum is actually full of activities that makes member occupied.  There are lots of things to gain in this forum, Knowledge, skills, income, that is why we can see many members here almost giving their full time in this forum.
719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Starbucks Launches Beta of Web3 Odyssey on Polygon Network on: December 10, 2022, 02:44:57 AM
This is a great news for Polygon community and market.  A well known chain of store that sells coffee called Starbucks had launched its Beta Web3 Odysey on Polygon Network.

What is Starbucks Web3 Odyssey?
It is the test of the experimental program combines customer loyalty rewards and NFT collecting and other gamified elements.

Here is a video that tells about the news of Starbucks launching its Beta Web3 Odyssey : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNoui0NIWmU&t=512s

Here is an article that gives an analysis of the said Starbucks Web3 loyalty program

Accessing the program
Quote
Starbucks Odyssey will be accessible using the same login as Starbucks Rewards. But because these stamps are actually NFTs under the surface, Starbucks system needs to have a wallet address for each member.
They will likely provide the option for members to 1) connect your existing wallet or 2) confirm your email address to have a custodial wallet created for you. In either scenario, Starbucks will have a confirmed crypto wallet address added to the Starbucks Rewards profile for each Starbucks Odyssey participant.

Distribution of NFTs
Quote
The NFTs are called “stamps”, and there are two classes of stamps: “Journey Stamps” and “Limited-edition Stamps”. Each are distributed in different ways.
Journey stamps can be earned by completing challenges or games. This means that upon completion of the challenge (take a quiz about how coffee is made, purchase all the different flavors of espresso Starbucks has, etc), the Journey Stamp will be transferred to the member’s wallet. After this transfer is completed, Starbucks can’t remove the stamp!
Limited-editions will only be purchasable, not earn-able. They will be purchasable via credit/debit cards, and concepts like interacting with Polygon’s native token (MATIC) and paying gas fees will be abstracted away from consumers. The Limited-Edition Stamps will be rare and unlock more expensive experiences.

Marketplace
Quote
Starbucks Odyssey will have a built-in marketplace in their web app experience where consumers can buy, sell and trade their stamps. Starbucks made it clear that this marketplace experience will be available for “limited-edition stamps”, but they have not confirmed this will be available for “journey stamps”.

Benefits, perks and “utility”
Quote
The benefits and experiences that stamps can unlock may include:
  • limited edition merchandise
  • access to experiences
  • ability to connect with other members

They teased some of the experiences they were considering making available to stamp owners, like a virtual espresso martini-making class, invitations to Starbucks Reserve Roasteries or even trips to their coffee farm in Costa Rica.

Redeeming the benefits
Quote
Rather than gating the benefits based on which “stamps” you have collected, Starbucks is introducing a new virtual currency (”points”) as the mechanism to redeem benefits.

This implementation of loyalty reward of Starbucks via Polygon Network is a great boost and promotion for Polygon Market.  Basically this will give a huge exposure for Polygon Network and at the same time make people aware that Polygon is existing aside from well known BTC and other leading cryptocurrency.

720  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Manny Pacquiao vs. DK Yoo on: December 10, 2022, 01:57:38 AM
Manny was the legendary player of boxing world with all types of matches. But DK also the good player with some good strategy towards the game.DK was master of various martial arts and it also includes of boxing. So his game was unique with different techniques. His fight against the legendary fighter Manny had a huge audience to the game of boxing.

I'm not sure though if you have followed DK career, this is boxing not martial arts exhibitions, so in any case he will be at a disadvantage here because this is Manny's bread and butter to speak off.

Unique as in what? they will just stand in front of the ring and throw bombs, you can't used your legs here.

And obviously this is just an exhibition match so fans are going to buy this fight because of Manny Pacquiao.

Even though DK Yoo isn't a natural boxer, Manny Pacquiao stated that he will never underestimate his opponent.  That is a good thing and the best thing to show respect to his opponent.  I believe we can see a serious Manny Pacquiao throwing heavy bombs on DK Yoo.  I think this fight is also a fight where he will assess if he is still good to come back in boxing fighting professional boxers again.  Hopefully, Manny will just let the younger generation to compete in the professional boxing fights, he has already established his legacy and had proven a legend by getting 8 division title belts.  He is already one of a kind and considered the G O A T of boxing in terms of division achievement.
