721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHo will win - ETH or ETC? on: August 03, 2016, 05:43:30 AM
It all look like ETC is going to win the battle. If you still have the btc, you might just want to buy more this time else you'd miss the train going there.
Rides like this don't come along everyday eh?
The marketcap seems to be all over the place for ETC, but it was getting close to $300M

Here comes the rally... 4,770 top. And counting...

I believe we could go towards setting new highs all the way to 10k sat.

But there will be bouts of sells that will bring the price down once in a while too, of course.

The ARDR scheme is working like magic. Very, very, very smart.
I dont imagine NXT increasing much, as the longer you leave it, the less ardor you get, so people wont want to spend as much if you know what i mean.
723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: August 03, 2016, 01:50:20 AM

The price and market cap suggests otherwise... I think we're officially in a free fall. No telling where the bottom is.
Now the million dollar question is, how many coins have seen a resurgent bounce after a tech announcement after the original sky high jump?

I can't think of any, bitcoin, litecoin, etc. they've all stayed the same.
My fear is that people won't care about new features, as they're on to other coins and have forgotten all about this one.. seen it happen many times.
I'm hoping it doesn't happen to us, but the history of other coins suggests that it is very likely that it will.

Anyone who didn't think this was a totally artificial pump needs pushing into a river, but one of NEM's most interesting aspects is its separateness from the rest of the crypto market. It's quite possible and likely that adoption will come from some very unfamiliar angles.

obviously it was artificial. Most pumps are. My point was that as a spectator I've seen tons of coins in the last 3 years have meteoric rises, then fall back down to obscurity, never to rise again.

The prevailing thought in this thread is that people will love NEM's tech and flock to it, but tech doesn't seem to be as much as a driving force as it should be in the crypto world.
Doge was sky high at one point with a huge market cap.. now look at it. It was a joke coin but it took off and was very popular for a long time..
And that stupid coin had a giant marketcap and tons of daily volume, bigger than most of the "superior tech" coins that fell below it in it's heyday, never to return...
It's a legitimate concern for those of us who want this coin to do good, but it's stupid to overlook crypto history because of blind faith, all while ridiculing those who are concerned..

Main reason i did not dump at peak is because ive been burned in the past with different coins when dumping and then find they still skyrocketed. That and the risk of dumping with a potential news update could have made a big loss for me.

We were still seriously undervalued at the peak of the pump, and high gains are unavoidable with any crypto, and the upside with the pump is that its high exposure will gain more potentially buyers who dont like buying on a pump and wait for price to settle before investing.

Lots of people still dont know about XEM, so this did gain alot of attention, many have asked me about NEM and ive provided them with information.

I dont like panic buying on a pump, so a lower price is attractive to investors.

From memory, NXT hit $100M marketcap shortly after launch, then dropped down to around $30M and then went back to $100M some months later.

What makes this stand out over other projects is that we have solid devs with a good road map and a very secure blockchain.
ETH/ETC is not out of the woods yet, and until they make it more secure, its unclear how the flaws in smart contracts will pan out.

Remember that we have achieved more than many other projects out there and the work will pay off very soon. So dont compare this to any other pump and dumps.

NEM can achieve the same result of smart contracts without the inherent security flaws of adding smart contracts to a blockchain.

NEM to the moon, (rome was not built in a day) we will get there, just give it time Smiley

I agree.

Our target audience is rather different and there is so much in Japan that we dont even fully know what is happening.
I have full confidence with the team, and the partnerships formed with Dragonfly, tech bureau, mijin etc  Cheesy

Gotta love the trolls! Lol anyway good time to buy more, interestingly enough when i was on poloniex earlier the sell orders were very small most well under 1BTC while most buy orders were over 1BTC indicating either short supply and/or few wanting to sell
726  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHo will win - ETH or ETC? on: August 02, 2016, 10:43:28 AM
The ironic thing is that all ETH bagholders automatically had ETC at the time of the fork, so if they were smart enough, they could have dumped their ETH and then bought ETC and end up with tenfold the amount of ETC!

729  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the Future of Bitcoin ? on: August 02, 2016, 05:30:00 AM
Here is an article on the future of bitcoin. What is the community opinion about it ?

Regariding the future of bitcoin, no one really knows about it. Unless you are a prophet. Determining the future of a bitcoin or the future of any other currency is really hard because if it is easy then a lot of people will get rich through the use of trading. All I can say is that, i hope the value of the bitcoin will increase in the future if not, I hope it will stay in its current value.

The thing is there are a lot of whales who have gained significant amounts of money day trading rather than buying and holding.

I dont know what strategy is the best, but im just investing on the few that look attractive and have real goals with dedicated devs.

I think some alternatives will do as good if not better than BTC in the long term.

Using Google translate, I found reference on some Japanese blogs that NEM had a recent article in the physical newsprint of Nikkei?  Comments implied it was looking at NEM blockchain, Mijin and Infoteria.  Positive piece?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Nikkei

Traffic to NEM IO is almost 50% Japanese now.

Looks rather interesting, there have been numerous japanese links posted in this thread and google translate has been rather hopeless with Japanese to English translation, but most of the stuff ive read seems very positive from what i can make out.

It would be good if some from the Japanese community could translate any news articles over there and share with us, and I have indeed seen some articles that have been translated already.

Perhaps we could give a bounty for some translators?

Anyway that says alot in itself that 50% of the traffic is Japanese.

How is the support in XEM? Is this a good time to accumulate? Is the dump over? I want to add more in my position because I speculate there are more good news and announcements to come.

Are there updates from Japan? It would be nice to know the further developments over there.

There are various blogs over there all in Japanese with various articles, but most of them dont reach us, let alone be translated.

Needless to say that there is ongoing developments, most of the major partnerships and releases will be underwraps and not be made public until its official.

The next major update I expect to hear will be related to catapult, but there is always the odd partnership with dragonfly fintech and mijin etc that you can always expect.

Iphone wallet is at beta testing right soon
Soon will be out
They are also testing the Android Wallet.
Would not surprise me if both mobile wallets are released sometime this month Smiley

yeah, but sadly iPhone 4s is not supported...

Is it? Does not really surprise me if thats the case, but i have not read anything about that.
iOS is a real pig for devs in this area. Ive seen this happen with other apps in the past on iOS.

Android is really the way to go to avoid this.

736  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2016 and WHY on: July 30, 2016, 10:54:50 AM
This week the old silkcoin (SILK) from 2014 will be able to be swapped for the new Silk (SLK). The release of this week will include:

- SLK release
- Weaver
- Official website SLK/DRKSLK
- Start of a 4 week ICO Darksilk until release
- Blockchain for SLK
- More info about the concept of SLK/DRKSLK (whitepaper)
- New wallet

A month after this release will be the DRKSLK release. This will be PoW and interesting for miners and endusers of the product. Forecasted price for SLK will be 4000+ and is very interesting for traders. SLK/DRKSLK is a complete new pegging method that will provide the first working and rock solid stabilizing coin mechanism.

Help and input from the community is always welcome and more info can be found here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1427296.new#new

Be sure not to miss it ;-)

SILK is a great testinomy to the good that can come out of a bad situation in the crypto scene.
Hands down to Arteleis for without him we would not be where we are today!
737  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: July 30, 2016, 06:33:17 AM
Yes if you look at the whole chart you will see that XEM has gone a very long way and still has a lot to offer. It is just "resting" right now and it will go down because it is impossible for the people to keep buying forever. Wiat for this to go down at the lows and you should start buying again. Make sure you buy as an investment and hold it very long. XEM is a good investment.

Thats correct, (and as of speaking volume has increased a bit anyway)

The thing is most people bought their XEM at the last pump and intend to hold, we just have to wait for another wave of buyers to come and buy again and the supply will soon drop once more as the demand increases.
738  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH GETTING DUMPED HARD!!!! on: July 29, 2016, 11:49:08 PM
NEM does what ETH can without unsafe smart contracts, people will be killing themselves dumping their XEM at this rate.

Very good time to buy more...

I haven't harvested since Block #688188. I'm starting to think something is wrong... so, about 4 days or Any thoughts?

What's your importance? Are you harvesting locally or remote? If the latter, did you check if you are really harvesting or not (the remote might have restarted NIS)?

My importance is .6 and I'm doing remote harvesting via AWS. I'm trying to boost the importance thru buying NEM.

I had this happen alot with delegated harvesting, if the node goes down, you have to reconnect, to another node, or else you can give the node operator your harvesting key to keep on the server so if it goes down it will keep harvesting when its back online Smiley

THANKS! Will look into more Friday when I have time. I gotta get these NEM before the demand gets real crazy!!!!!!!!

I've got 4-5 days without any harvested block to. My importance is higher than yours. Think this is normal.

my importance is nearly 3% and i still harvest alot of blocks with nothing in them, but this changes significantly with the volume.
