6 + 8 = 5

 Huh Huh  Shocked

I hope you don't always calculate like this  Wink You forgot an intermediate step. But your brain was probably quicker.

6 + 8 = 14
1 + 4 = 5

llama math

..... only 1 sixth of our average lifespan.
......

That's always in the back of my mind.  If/when my feline friends go before me, I know I'll be shattered.

yeah

but then again im at the age i may outlive my feline friends and i have made plans for their care if/when we pass before they do. and at the point where getting a new kitten/pup would almost be a disservice to them really. figure will be adopting older pets from here on out.

Is there no proper definition for all these things?  Everyone seems to be throwing terms like Ponzi, Decentralized, Shitcoin et cetera over any and every Altcoin and most of the time they seem improperly placed.  Is every Altcoin a Shitcoin?

around these here parts there is Bitcoin, and Not Bitcoin. no others definitions are really needed in the WO.

[...] offensive pronoun.

ive been at sites that when making an account ask for your "preferred pronoun" to which i have been (fairly) creative in describing obscene improbabilities. i also mess with the "gender" fields that have more than the traditional "male/female/prefer not to disclose" choices.

useless i know but i do hope some snowflakes somewhere read it and get offended.

hey its a hobby dont knock it.

A third country that is not officially a part of the conflict and not under any direct attack/threat of an attack, starting a nuclear war, with justification of better now than later, what can possibly go wrong.

You will be surprised to see that some old bitcoin users here are android users who have never been vulnerable because they are always cautious. It is more of a matter of how careful you are than the device or operating system that you use.

Pretty much this. I have used mobile wallets for small amount for years, and I have never had a single issue or lost a single satoshi because I use a reputable open source wallet, I don't visit random websites or click on random links, and I don't download a bunch of pointless spyware apps and games.

agreed. i use an open source android wallet. i created it in 2016 on a samsung note 4. been using the same wallet (ie same seed and software - i just reenter the original seed on the new phones as i get them) so 6 years of having it on android. i just make sure the phone has a (still supported) fully updated OS and wallet. get a new phone when the old phone stops being supported (or sooner). no rooting. no real junk. so far so good.

of course its always been small amounts but still 6 years of phones that use the same seed and same wallet software that are generally on 24/7/365 and zero problems.

So my wife just tested positive for COVID, I've tested and am negative. Slightly worried for her as she has a very weak immune system but she's vaccinated so hopefully help in that regard. Fun times.

wishing your wife the best and a fast recovery.

730  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I get hacked, 2.4 bitcoin stolen from coinomi wallet on: March 03, 2022, 01:52:13 AM
Now I am being a little concerned here because I have my coins stored on a smartphone wallet.
But I am using Mycelium which is an opensource wallet for storing bitcoin and Exodus for altcoins which is partiall open source.
At the same time the phone is completely separate and has no other apps installed. I don't use it for anything at all.

i wouldnt store any significant amount on a phone.

that being said ive used mycelium for years on my daily driver android phones that are on 24/7 (and that are always fully patched and running the latest OS that are supported) and never had a problem, but its just very small amounts of btc and im fully prepared to lose it at any time due to whatever reason (hacks/stolen/wallet goes bad/whatever).

hardware wallets for the win. paper is good but only use them if you know what youre doing.

While WO all know that Bitcoin is the best bet.

It is still prudent to own some physical gold as insurance against calamitous events.

The price chart needs to show the 4000 year moving average.

Roughly an ounce of gold bought a milking cow in ancient Egypt.

Today a good replacement milk cow costs around $1400

At today's gold price $1930 you'd get the calf as well.

In the year 6000 there may not be bitcoin (or humans) but an ounce of gold will still buy one milk cow if humans and cows still exist.

assuming we get to space (and stay) in the year 6000 an oz of gold will probably be trivial via asteroid mining/transmutation/magic.

but a real live honest to God genetically pure (whatever that may mean) cow?? prolly more

but even better in the year 6000 maybe: an oz of honest real DIRT with all microbes, fungi, insects, worms and whatnot? priceless - as its the start to a whole planets ecology for terraforming and such.

Attention Radio Geeks:

8131 kHz USB (Russian Air Force)
Military Transport (Aviation)
6.685 kHz USB (primary)
8.847 kHz USB (secondary)
11.360 kHz USB
18.030 kHz USB

There's several lists online, this one was sent to me a few minutes ago from a friend living in Poland.  Most here won't have radio gear, but you can probably poke around on websdr.org and find a station in Europe that could get good propagation.

I've been a ham since 1980, General class.

Seventy threes...  I wish I could give you my station ID.

grew up with MARS. gotta ton of QSL cards. played chess with peeps all over the world. was fun.

73s too

…..
I was a Fucking Marine under Reagen you morons.

Respect. Ty for your service, brother.

……
Under Reagen, I was smokin’ weed, wearing silly eyeliner, and creating loud obnoxious noise in a punk rock band.
Albeit I did hold down a day job, drilling a hole in millions of little rectangular metal thingies and other mindless stuff.
(Someone had to pay the rent, doncha know)

Good times, I was doing my fair share of partying back then as well. Wink

respect to both of you. around then i was smoking weed, wrecking cars, pretending to learn at college and playing video games on 8 bit computers. ngl it was fun.

i would never of made the grade in the military.

I was sad and afraid at the same time because I am down a lot. If BTC falls to $25K, I would hammer my balls and sleep.

you need the Titanium Plate Treatment tm. twice a day i believe. very relaxing. worked great for bob.
736  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 27, 2022, 04:58:33 PM
Well, time to start activating the nuclear war plan. Oi. Between "Rat packs in the Capitol", Autarky government, and of course global pandemic I'm running low on new scenarios.

Alien invasion anyone?

that scenario would be pretty relaxing in comparison to be honest
737  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 22, 2022, 01:34:50 PM

738  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Hernias suck hernia surgery sucks too on: February 21, 2022, 04:45:06 PM
A few days over 3 weeks after surgery.
Better, still not good.

Turns out it was larger then they saw on the scans. Surgeon did not tell me sooner after the operation since it really did not matter at that point. Didn't want to stress me.
He needed 3 pieces of mesh to make the repair. Oops, Dave broke himself good....

Can function, just moving slow and can't move in certain ways without my body letting me know about it.

just saw this thread. i had an inguinal. yeah the recovery sucked. glad youre doing ok just hang in there. ice is your friend.

Surgery can be very painful.

My father-in-law had testicles swell as large as baseballs ⚾️ for three or four days after the surgery.

haha man i couldnt believe what me parts looked like after surgery. it was surreal lol

im a nobody but this could be fun so here is my 1st post

Can anyone explain CUDA to me?  From what I gather its just a seperate way of computing data for nvidia cards...but do I need to "activate" it everytime I use it or is it an "install and be lazy" solution?

CUDA is nvidias language for talking to its cards when you want the card to crunch data (as opposed to displaying a scene in a video game). basically its a set of rules on how to get data to the card, what to do with it, and how to get it out.

its a "install and forget" deal.
