721  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The difficulty of explaining Bitcoin to people is massive on: September 24, 2021, 06:32:18 AM
Hey guys!

I have noticed that whenever people in real life find out that I use bitcoin, they ask me to explain it to them. For example, some family friends that are my age came over to my house around 2 weeks ago, when they arrived, I was looking at crypto graphs because I had a little bit of money saved up to invest. Bitcoin was on one of the charts, so when they walked into my room, they asked about it, "You do bitcoin? How does it even work?." So I started explaining it to them, but what they didnt get was that it is decentralized. When I was explaining it they asked "Why doesnt bitcoin's creator give himself a billion bitcoin?" I told them that it is impossible for the creator to do so since he doesnt have control over the network, but after I said that, they told me that I was wrong and that since He made it, he can control it, which is incorrect. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to explain coins to non-crypto people?

People do not understand bitcoin properly. We need to first tell them it is a currency. When they know it is a form of payment they will never like "You do bitcoin". Its same like saying "You do dollar".
Tell them them You have bitcoin and you do trading. Once they have the basic knowledge clear, they will automatically get interested in this crypto space.
722  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-09-21] U.S. to Target Crypto Ransomware Payments With Sanctions on: September 24, 2021, 05:22:26 AM
If you can’t stop the criminals, close off their means to profitability. It’s a familiar tactic and now the Biden administration is preparing an array of actions, including sanctions, to make it harder for hackers to use digital currency to profit from ransomware attacks, The Wall Street Journal reports. That means going after the digital wallets that receive ransom transactions, the crypto platforms that help exchange one set of blockchain coins for another to obscure the culprits and the people who own or manage those operations.

The Fight Against Ransomware
Hit them where it hurts: The government hopes to choke off access to cryptocurrency in certain situations in a bid to limit the potential payoff from ransomware, according to people familiar with the matter. The Treasury Department plans to impose sanctions as soon as this week, the people said, and will issue fresh guidance to businesses on the risks associated with facilitating ransomware payments, including fines and other penalties.

Later this year, expected new anti-money-laundering and terror-finance rules will seek to limit the use of cryptocurrency as a payment mechanism in ransomware attacks and other illicit activities. The actions collectively would represent the most significant attempt yet by the Biden administration to undercut the digital finance ecosystem of traders, exchanges and other elements that cybersecurity experts say has allowed debilitating ransomware attacks to flourish.

I think this was the another reason of the recent bitcoin dump to 40,000K. What makes me surprise is that whenever there is a big dump in the market we hear bad news altogether making the panic to the next level. I feel all this is planned manipulation. SEC cont stop the bitcoin and even they can control the exchanges outside US.

I just came across an atricle where the US treasury department purpose to sanction crypto and the reason they give is that bitcoin is used for ransomware so if we stop the usuage of bitcoin, there will be no Ransomware  attacks. How ridiculous it this ?

Instead of going after the hackers, they are going after the crypto. Will the hackers stop ransonware attacks if there is no crypto ?

US Treasury Dept sanctions crypto OTC broker Suex for alleged role in facilitating transactions for ransomware attacks

Rather then conducting such tests Pakistan must focus on how they will bring international cricket back on there soils. Such tests wont bring cricket back there. PCB is helpless on recent CZN and ECB tour cancellation. Its wake up call for small boards to voice for there rights otherwise whales will continue to dominate cricket and ICC.

Yes, there is no point to be emotional about this incident. If England and New Zealand have refused to play in Pakistan, it not the end of the world for them. I think they should try to invite some weaker teams in their country to play cricket and once the series are completed safely, it will give a positive message to the ICC.

Pakistan has already invited and played safely against RSA, SL, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. It was time for other team to visit Pakistan but they refused. AFAIK, security was not the prime reason rather they were political decision. Either way its bad for PCB and bad for the game.

I am also saying the same thing but they should so some action like inviting more teams to their country or if ICC, don't allow this, then conduct more domestic tournaments and invite international players. I remember they started KPL this year along with PSL.
Only claiming that due to political reason no teams want to come here, why not  find ways to improve the situation.

Wow, New Zealand team coming in our neighboring county. Last time they had no threat but they refused to play us, now let us show them the real threat.  Cool

This is a 10.5 BCH transaction to Coinbases BTC wallet.

the transfer arrived
2019-02-24 19:20

it can be seen the wallet was emptied less than 3 months later.

2019-05-15 21:53

The members here said that only Coinbase employees can access these Coins with private keys.

The Coinbase support insists that they cannot be recovered.

where did the coins go ? Who or what emptied the wallet less than 3 months later.

Would we call this a scam by coinbase but no media will highlight this.  Angry All the centralized exchanges and wallets behave like this and we cannot trust any of them. Its better that we keep out money in our personal wallets and stop using the scam services.

727  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 19, 2021, 06:28:20 AM
ICC wants to remove the Toss with the so called Auctions.

It's interesting by the way. You can find more details Why replacing the toss with an auction is the fair thing to do
Quote
Let's take an example. Say, India and Pakistan are playing a match in Dubai in the evening, when the dew is supposed to set in. Say India bid seven runs while Pakistan bid ten. Pakistan win the auction and decide to bat first. Now whatever total Pakistan make, India begin their chase with ten runs on the board. If Pakistan instead opt to chase, they would need to make ten more runs than India actually made to beat India.

The more you bid to win the toss, the more runs you have to score  Wink

I think its just a proposal or advice. I don't think this will be implemented anytime soon or later. It will create more complications in cricket. Yeah, sometimes in a day night match, winning a toss means winning a match in case there is a dew factor but this does not happen in every match. I think we are good to stay with the toss and not replace it with auctions.
728  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Buying and selling on this forum on: September 19, 2021, 05:51:58 AM
Hello fellows,
If I decide to buy or sell some goods on this forum, what's the safest process since I guess it's p2p transactions? thanks

My experience in buying and selling forums here, I like to involve a trusted third person, because I think it is very important so that there is no cheating from one of the irresponsible parties.

You have to be careful, never transfer money to people you don't know, even if it's legendary.

Trusted 3rd person means escrow on this forum. When you need to choose escrow from the forum, make sure he is a trusted member here.
Some non-trust member also can scam in name of escrow so we need to be very careful in any deal.
729  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: September 19, 2021, 05:11:38 AM
I am surprised that you are still thinking that ICC would favour PCB. Nothing of that will happen now, they are busy preparing for the T20 WorldCup and moreover, except BCCI, ICC does not favour SENA boards. They will always favour CNZ as you cannot question security threats for players. CNZ should come out with a proper response as what they did was very shameful.

Nothing is guaranteed right now. I don't know which direction the ICC will tilt. Do you remember what happened during the 2003 Cricket World Cup? Both Zimbabwe and Kenya were awarded points (through walkover), after England and New Zealand refused to tour these countries due to "security threat". And back then New Zealand failed to qualify for the semi-finals just because of this. So will the ICC penalize New Zealand this time also? But times have changed. And 2003 was during the Dalmiya-era, when the pig3 didn't had much power.

Yes, the things have changed in these 18 - 20 years. ICC was very fair back then and there was not much influence by the BCCI or ECB.
I think ICC won't take any action on it and this give courage to big nations to keep repeating the same actions for their own benefit.
730  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dollar supporters destroy Bitcoin ATM in El Salvador on: September 19, 2021, 04:27:43 AM
Astounded by the amazing success of Bitcoin implementation in El Salvador, anti-social elements sponsored by the USD lobby have started vandalizing and destroying the Bitcoin ATMs installed by the government. The Bitcoin implementation has proceeded relatively smoothly and this has angered those who were expecting it to fail. I don't expect them to stop with this. The next step may be rioters beating up anyone who is using Bitcoin and vandalizing shops that accept BTC as a payment mode.

He should be arrested for damaging the government property. No one is allowed to damage the public property in any country.

Anyways by destroying the bitcoin ATM makes no sense because there is no damage done to bitcoin and people can still use bitcoin easily anywhere. However incidents like these will create panic among people as these ill minded people may attack stops who accepts bitcoin.
731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Today I helped 2 non-crypto people invest in bitcoin on: September 19, 2021, 04:04:17 AM
My only concern is the bad part. Did you tell them that there'll be storms? Did you explain that there's a bull run but sometimes a bear run? Because I am sure that you definitely not want them blaming you for any of their loss. Whenever I bring people to crypto or tell them about investments, I also let them know that it can be risky. I hope you did this, if not, you can still tell them while it's early.

Yes, you should have mentioned the time period for which they should hold this investment. You have bought all these coins at high current prices and if bitcoin starts dumping today, your uncle portfolio will be 30 - 40% down. He may not be ready to see this loss in his portfolio (although there is no loss if you don't sell in loss).

If he is investing for 4 - 5 years, then there is no issue and this is the best investment.
732  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What we think is a quality post on: September 19, 2021, 03:48:36 AM
Quality post is not about size, length it could be long or short. Quality post is about useful information that is passed to users that come across it. How it can add value

In addition to that, a quality post can be anything which makes you laugh or happy. A post may be a quality one for one person who enjoyed it and gave it merit and it may be just a normal post for another person.
The definition of quality posts varies from person to person. Also if anyone gave a merit on a post, the other person should not challenge as why the merit was given to a post which seems average one.
733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is double spending a threat to bitcoin adoption growth? on: September 19, 2021, 03:35:09 AM
So now that bitcoin has been legalized in several countries as legal tender, do you think this double spending can prevent bitcoin from being used by many as a secure mean of payment so that adoption rates slow down?

Without going into technical language, i would like to clarify that bitcoin can't be double spend. If there was any possibility of double spending, bitcoin wouldn't have so high marketcap and people wouldn't invest in assets which are not reliable.

Also if any day, someone double spent bitcoin, it will be the end of bitcoin adaption and people will panic sell everything.

Wow, it ain't easy at all, it weakens my very soul that all I've worked for have really gone and no way of making ends meet for now.
Do I regret bringing another being into this world? Perhaps I do when I'm down and emotionally at my lowest but I've learnt to be strong atleast for my kid. Unfortunately finding a love interest to serve as that emotional anchor ain't even easy in our society, once you tell them, faim! Its all over.
I'm probably feeling depressed but I still hope on loving and being loved. Hoping on God wiping away my silent tears, hoping on a shoulder to lean on and a listening ear.

I can understand your feelings but do not lose hope. Also don't regret to bring a baby in the world. May God help you and give you easyness and happiness.
By the way, where is your husband. You haven't mention what happened to your martial life and why are you alone now ?
735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is telling people you're into stocks "cool" but crypto is a big secret? on: September 19, 2021, 02:58:55 AM
Ever noticed how people would boast or proudly proclaim (or at least used to) that they invest and trade stocks, but they don't feel the same way about crypto, as if it's a secret never to be shared? Why is that?

The most common reason for this is that crypto is not legal in most countries and people avoid telling that they have investment in bitcoins and crypto currencies to avoid any legal action against them.
Secondly, people normally do not pay taxes on crypto and therefore they do not want others to know that they posses crypto.
736  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you like to do in your spare time? on: September 19, 2021, 02:44:50 AM
I like to learn something new

This is the best thing we can do in my opinion. Unfortunately now during winter the weather is so much more depressing than in summer. In summer I never really watch TV, but now when it's cold and dark outside I watch more and more TV in the evenings. Which is not really productive.

I have stopped watching TV or movies and all such stuff. Mostly i love to read and learn. Since most of the information about anything is available on internet and you tube, i spend most of my time on these platform. Also i love bitcointalk and for sure i spend some part of the day on this forum too.
737  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 18, 2021, 12:15:58 PM
By the way, the T20 world cup is near and everyone must be thinking the Match on 24 October, 2021 between India and Pakistan will be the most hype match as usual.

This time we will have another deadly encounter on Oct 26, 2021 , the match between New Zealand and Pakistan.

The revenge time is  near as now we have two rivalries.   Wink

Yeah.. incidentally both India and New Zealand are placed in the same group as Pakistan. The first match will take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, while the second one will be hosted at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The ICC always place India and Pakistan in the same group, because they know that's what the fans as well as the TV broadcasters want. Now it is entirely another topic whether Pakistan will be able to axtract revenge against these two sides. They've been in top form, but India always have an advantage as far as the ICC tournaments are concerned.

India and Pakistan are known arch rivals so ICC just cashes out that fact by placing both the team in the same pool. After yesterdays incident Pakistani will be more concerned about the match between Pakistan and Newzealand. Pakistan would want to win this match at any cost and they will surely be backed by Pakistan fans. But, if they lose then the disappointment level would be very high.

I think every match is important for every team in the world cup. If Pakistan manage to win these both matches (although there is high probability they won't), they would qualify for the next round for sure.

For them to take revenge, they need to be a better team from India and NZ. I am afraid Pakistan does not enjoy the same form as the other two teams.
738  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you use a VPN? on: September 18, 2021, 12:11:01 PM
I used it until it caused me to lose the Internet. VPN is convenient. Because not all sites are allowed to your location. I don't really want anyone to see where I am. I used to have it always on. Then for some reason I started losing the Internet. I contacted support. And they told me that it was my routerlogin net. It turns out that if you are connected to multiple networks at the same time it may be because the router input network is not working. In this case I had to just turn off the VPN and it worked.

What do you mean that you lose your internet once you used or activated the vpn ? There are thousands of people using VPN and face no issue in their internet usage.
Maybe you didn't know how to configure VPN or you are using any free VPN  Huh
739  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Underage gambling is an epidemic on: September 18, 2021, 10:34:20 AM
Hey guys! I have recently taken steps to get out of gambling at age 14 so I want to share some information I got along the way!

I started gambling when I first started playing CSGO on skins gambling websites I had seen on Youtube. Fast forward a few years, and I am gambling cryptocurrency on Stake.com at the age of 14 years old. This is a problem, gambling for me was easily accessible, easy to get into, and fun. This caused me to spend more time doing it and to deposit more coins to make the stakes higher, I didn't lose much, but didn't win much also, I would split even most of the time. Yesterday, after realizing how much I think about it I made a thread asking people for some advice on the situation, and the overwhelming majority said that I should leave the gambling scene because of how young I am. I totally agreed.

Even though you are under age but i know that very experienced gamblers face the same situation whereby they spent more money, become greedy and also addicted to gambling.
However, gambling at underage has more severe side effects like you will lose the money of your parents and also you won't be able to focus on studies which will badly effect your career.
740  Other / Off-topic / Re: Corruption and Sports on: September 17, 2021, 05:04:58 PM
While there are this principle of sportmanship in our system... There are these people who only thinks of this entertainment as business, and business is business. Although there are clean businesses out there, that latter part are still in action, especially when gambling takes place. Money is money for this people and it is obvious that they will do anything to have this money.
I agree that now everyone thinks sports is a business and therefore corruption is on the rise. It is possible to prevent corruption by playing as a means of entertainment money is a business that can bring everyone down the administration must be free from corruption and ensure.

So if sports is a business is it necessary that there should be corruption there ? I think we should change our mindset and avoid corruption at every cost. The world would be so peaceful if everywhere there is no corruption and merit existed in every field of life.
