741  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XEL] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: February 20, 2017, 05:04:04 PM
I can see some altcoin teams are postponing releases probably waiting until the BTC hype settles. Maybe that is also the case here.

I think a lot of altcoins are holding off on launches until closer to some Bitcoin/altcoin convention in early April? Can't think of the name, unfortunately. However, that's certainly not the case here. Devs are working as fast as possible to get the work done on XEL to get the mainnet launched asap
742  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NEW] Chimera - a Decentralized Gaming Platform - ICO coming soon on: February 20, 2017, 04:59:52 PM
Love the logo, and really looking forward to seeing this project in action. Question about ICO:

How will burning HUC be weighted against BTC purchases? Will Huntercoin burned be worth the same as spending the same value in BTC? Or will HUC have a heavier or lighter weight vs. BTC purchases?
743  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MOBILEGO Crowdfund - Decentralized Solutions on Gamecredits Mobile Store on: February 20, 2017, 04:55:02 PM
Been following and hodling Gamecredits for quite some time now. Needless to say I'm very excited about this project. Is there a tentative date for when the crowdsale should start? I can't seem to find a date anywhere.
744  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoins and Sleepers in Concept. on: February 17, 2017, 06:33:51 PM
The best deep sleeper on the market right now is Pepecash. If there is one thing shitcoin investors love it's memes, and Pepecash is a currency used to run a literal exchange of memes. Genius idea and it's still largely unknown, not even listed on any big exchanges despite large volume on the shit-tier tuxechange.

Also, a UBI coin doesn't really make sense around these parts. Nobody gives a shit about helping out the poor everyone is only here to make a profit. And people won't put money into a charitycoin if it doesn't provide profit.
745  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What coin will give us good gains in case ETF gets passed and BTC goes to moon? on: February 17, 2017, 06:29:20 PM
Altcoins that don't attempt to do what Bitcoin does "better" or "faster" appreciate in value alongside BTC. Really anything outside of a select few coins will at least maintain its BTC value (and if it holds value while Bitcoin appreciates, it's appreciating, too.)

747  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [DBIC] DubaiCoin-DBIC | PAYMENT GATEWAY DBIC-EX دبي كوين on: February 13, 2017, 05:36:08 PM
So DBIC has been trading in pretty high volume for quite some time now on yobit. With that being said, is there any actual usage of this coin? Does it do anything, or is it "just a shitcoin pretending to be something more"?
748  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Spells of Genesis - Innovating the Game Economy with BitCrystals (BCY) on: February 13, 2017, 05:29:05 PM
I bought some BCY here the past few weeks. Now I would like to buy some cards before the launch; realizing this would probably be wise?

I am not a gamer really, but who knows maybe I should learn this game. I have been researching good crypto - and stumbled upon BCY.

This the first coin I have come across where I did not want to "sell the news".

Right now I am just a myopic observer/investor.

I'm trying to get up to speed - its quite a learning curve. Seems like a Satoshi card might be something I might be interest in.

Any input is appreciated. I joined the slack as "Davyroy". Cheers

You should definetlly try the game: https://spellsofgenesis.com/index.php?action=game

There are liek 100 blockchain cards out now: http://bitcrystals.com/store

You can buy them on DEX or thru swapbots. Being on slack is perfect. Just 2 days ago was there a guy trying to sell Satoshi card. I think his price was hmm.

Sort of cheap.

That's incredible that such a price is even being negotiated for a virtual, crypto-based asset. Where does this price stack up to the rarest cards in the wildly popular Magic the Gathering? It's quite a feat that communities have assigned such value to these digital rarities. On a greater scale, this is a great sign for the rate at which the altcoin industry is expanding.
749  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Interesting upcoming altcoin ICOs? on: February 13, 2017, 05:21:57 PM
I'm typically pretty skeptical about ICOs, haven't bought into any since WAVES almost a year ago. With that being said, Chimera looks like a really cool project. It's ran by a reputable dev with a lot of time spent on these forums, and it's got a clear and plausible mission. I'm definitely going to buy in.

Chimera? I'm seeing this for the first time on this forum, I looked at the linked posted above it was opened on Feb 9 2017. I'm not saying the project is not good but surprise you didn't not even name Qtum the signature campaign you are carrying

The announcement is only a few days old, and with no set date for the presale, the actual ICO is most certainly a ways in the future. With that being said, Chimera is an evolution of Huntercoin (by the same dev) which has been running very, very well since 2014.

Although I'm running the Qtum campaign, I don't know enough about it currently to give an opinion on it.
750  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you look for when investing in altcoin? on: February 13, 2017, 05:12:52 PM
Vocal community, definitive and practical mission statement (stay away from the coins that swear they'll change the world), prime memes all are good indicators of potential profit. Maturity of the coin and personalities backing/running it are also important variables to look at. Current/potential future exchanges highly effect price, too.
751  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The first truly rare Pepes on the Bitcoin Blockchain! [ANN] on: February 13, 2017, 05:09:50 PM
Wow now over 30BTC Volume... Great...

35 BTC volume... Price is shooting tf up. Hope everyone involved bought enough before this happened, because I think this is just the start to some huge exposure and even huger price appreciation. May Pepe bless our pockets.
752  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XEL] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: February 13, 2017, 05:04:35 PM
no yobit please, they are scammers

Has Yobit ever directly scammed someone?  I know they arguably operate in the weasel zone insofar as adding even questionable coins, but they have never done anything like actually steal money from my account, not in the year I've used them.

Yobit has higher volume on most altcoins than any exchange other than Poloniex.

Of course, I'm not adverse to Poloniex, if or when it happens.

I log into yobit almost daily but I don't think we should try to be getting listed there. Yobit is a place for shitcoins, volatility, pumping and dumping- XEL is a legitimate coin with real potential. Poloniex or ttrex is the way to go, in my opinion.
753  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NEW] Chimera - a Decentralized Gaming Platform - ICO coming soon on: February 13, 2017, 04:53:51 PM
Really excited for this upcoming ICO. I think altcoins will thrive in the videogame industry in the near future and I'm definitely going to put some money in.

Anyways, one question: what are the limitations of games running on Chimera? In theory, could a game like World of Warcraft exist on the network?

755  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The first truly rare Pepes on the Bitcoin Blockchain! [ANN] on: February 10, 2017, 06:49:15 PM
Pepecash has quietly been surging in value. I'm expecting a massive explosion in volume and pricing soon as more people stumble upon this wonderful concept. I would not be surprised if a larger exchange picks it up in the near future. Now is the time to accumulate, boiz.
756  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone know much about this new coin SMF on YoBit? Added today 2/9/17 on: February 10, 2017, 06:42:51 PM
Coin has been trading for a grand total of 1 day and already sitting at 1sat with no buy orders. I wouldn't touch this thing with a 10 foot pole, glad to hear you got in right at the start and made a smug profit off the inevitable launch-day-pump, but I certainly wouldn't get in again under any circumstances.
757  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] YOVI - YobitVirtualCoin - 5% POS [ROM] on: February 10, 2017, 06:38:06 PM
if you had your yobit account while yovi deposits where enabled and you generated a new address and saved it, then it will work now as well (till they fix it)

I purchased YOVI when it first came out, always had the same account and never changed deposit address, and I'm getting the same error message on the deposit screen as others have shared on this thread.

Also, have just under 2 YOVI left, once that order sells I'll have a half order to hand off and I'll have all my YOVI sold completely. Bought 43 at 2200 for 1mBTC, after the next batch is sold I'll have .2 BTC in sales. not too shabby at all.
758  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What Coins are Worth Mining? on: February 10, 2017, 06:29:25 PM
The best coins to mine are new coins you think have some value that have not yet been added to exchanges. These coins will be very easy to mine, and if they get listed on yobit, polo, c-cex, etc you'll be able to instantly sell and achieve a profit against the input required to mine. You don't even need to own mining equipment- you can still profit renting miners for BTC.
759  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What does an altcoin's number of nodes have to do with its value? on: February 10, 2017, 06:26:07 PM
first of all running a node is not about how much it will cost you and certainly (as many these days try to say) is not about making money (being rewarded just because you run a node).
it is about supporting the decentralized network that you want to use. what did you think decentralized mean then!

with that said, number of nodes have no effect on an altcoin price. if that were the case 90% of the altcoins would have never seen a price above 1 satoshi.

number of nodes (real nodes run by users not data centers mass nodes) means more people are supporting that altcoin, more people are using it and it ensures the security of the network.

This is all simply not correct.

People run nodes to get paid. That's why they stake. That's why there are supernodes and other concepts that are based completely on getting paid to run a node.

Saying number of nodes has no effect is nonsense. It definitely has an effect, the questions is: In what way?

The question of OP is does the number of nodes effect the value of the coin. Yes, people do run nodes for a personal profit, but that personal profit is independent of the value of the node as a whole. I'd also argue that the number of nodes has minimal (even 0) effect on the price of an altcoin. Of course, some number of nodes must be required for any altcoin to sustain life, but does the excess amount of nodes increase the value? I'd say no. Coinmarketcap and other metrics for determining value do not even graph the number of nodes. I couldn't even tell you an estimate of how many Bitcoin nodes there are.
760  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: People really are falling HARD for the Chronobank scam on: February 10, 2017, 06:18:24 PM
The only word or mention I've seen from Chronobank is constant Chronobank ads I've been bombarded with on Twitter. That's enough for me to stay the hell away. Shitcoin ICOs do NOT belong on social media, the only reason they'd advertise on such platforms is to sucker in commonfolk who are unaware of the dangers of such investments.
