781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins that might survive in the future? on: January 30, 2017, 07:00:25 PM
XMR will probably continue be used for quite some time on the darknet.

The only other coin I'm bullish on when it comes to longevity in the magnitude of years is GAME. It's still a relatively small and new coin, but it has all the variables needed to potentially garner sustained useage in the long run. It has a clear, concrete, and obtainable goal, an invested community, and interested 3rd parties that are looking to incorporate GameCredits into their non-crypto affairs.
782  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Getting started investing in Altcoins on: January 30, 2017, 06:56:46 PM
Yes, Bitcoin was intended as the major more "stable" part of my investment. That's why I'm not planning on betting more than 100$ per Altcoin.

In terms of storing altcoins, it's okay to leave them on Bittrex (can't vouch for all exchanges) until their individual values exceed some predetermined threshold. That threshold will depend upon the level of convenience desired and your level of competency.

For me, I would feel comfortable leaving any altcoin wallet worth a few hundred dollars on Bittrrex and sleep really good at night. If you get heavy into a particular coin, then you might consider using a local wallet and following best wallet practices.

No need to have dozens of altcoin wallets installed on your local machine. Opinions will vary. Smiley

Didn't Bittrex just get hacked like a couple months ago?? The unfortunate fact of the matter is no centralized exchange should be trusted. It's a shitty situation because there aren't great alternatives to storing off of exchanges without losing the convenience and accessibility associated with holding coins on exchanges.
783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When does a coin become officially dead? on: January 30, 2017, 06:45:57 PM
A coin is dead when nobody memes about it. That's all altcoins are- memes. If a coin no longer inspires some banter from time to time somewhere in the world, it's donezo. The exception to this rule is if people are actually using the coin for stuff (basically only applies to Bitcoin for a lot of stuff and XMR for drugs).
784  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why I'm Long on Reddcoin on: January 30, 2017, 06:31:58 PM
Hi all

As Reddcoin reached their 3rd Birthday just a few days ago

Stopped reading after here. The fact that Reddcoin just celebrated its 3rd birthday is proof enough not to invest. Shitcoins have a short life span, and 3 years is way past its expiration date. Reddcoin is stale, old, musty. No thanks.
785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Suggest me the best ICO to invest. on: January 30, 2017, 06:07:43 PM
Skip the ICO bullshit

Put .67 in GameCredits and .33 in Pepecash. At the end of the year at the latest (and probably much, much sooner) that 1 BTC is going to be worth 5 or so.
786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: centralized exchanges are doomed, DEX are coming soon on: January 29, 2017, 10:03:54 PM
After the shit Poloniex pulled with PascalCoin and all the dirty things Yobit openly engages in, I think it's time for a DEX to take up a prominent share of the crypto exchange market. If any project steps up to tackle the issue, I'll certainly indulge.
787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What is a PascalCoin and how is Poloniex scamming you? on: January 28, 2017, 08:09:09 PM
Poloniex is perhaps the most influential entity as far as altcoins go. Simply put, any coin that gets listed by it WILL explode in volume and marketcap. The only way not to be effected by such a phenomenon is not to participate in newly listed coins. Pumping and dumping only works so long as a fool on the other end buys what you sell.
788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Spoutcoin (SPTC): Is it legit? on: January 27, 2017, 06:58:49 PM
A general rule of thumb for altcoins I like to follow is that if it's not called "Bitcoin" and it doesn't explicitly advertise itself as a shitcoin then it's not legit. So no- Spoutcoin isn't legit.
789  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] The first truly rare Pepes on the Bitcoin Blockchain! [ANN] on: January 27, 2017, 06:56:49 PM
Hey everyone, I'd just like to make a quick announcement:

I talked to a few of you yesterday in the Telegram group. I'm a writer for MemeInsider, a digital magazine dedicated to memes, enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people on Reddit (but a dedicated website for the Insider is coming out soon). For this issue, I decided to write a full featured article on rarepepewallet.com and Pepecash. You can check out our first issue here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MemeEconomy/comments/5fxpq6/meme_insider_first_issue_release_shitposting_gone/

If our readers like the concept, there is a good chance we could see many new faces soon Smiley

Wanted to give you guys an update: the newest issue of MemeInsider was released. Unfortunately, there were some oversight issues and design dropped the ball on getting my article presentable in time for the release. However, I just got done talking to the head editor of the magazine, and he said they're expecting to publish my article as a standalone Flash Release on Monday, maybe sooner.
790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Getting started investing in Altcoins on: January 27, 2017, 06:52:35 PM
If you don't mind, I'd like to share a bit of unsolicited advice-

Don't trade altcoins solely as long term investments. If you're going to do this, at least include Bitcoin for a large portion of your portfolio. The fact of the matter is, on average, altcoins overtime will depreciate in value to nill. In general, they just aren't good long term investments to make. Beyond this, comparatively large or well known altcoins don't have the same explosion factor as the unknown shitcoins, but they both have the potential to die.

What I would suggest (and what many people seem to do here) is to start out with a small amount on Yobit or Poloniex and just play around for a while until you get a good grasp on the market as a whole. Once you've familiarized yourself with a number of coins, you can put larger amounts into coins you are personally bullish on- coins that have missions or communities you actually believe in. On top of this, you can do some day trading if you'd like.
791  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which altcoins are your favorite for daily trade? on: January 27, 2017, 06:46:11 PM
Not so much any more, but back in June-August of last year Rubies was fucking phenomenal for me. It had low volume so I was only trading in increments of .03-.05 BTC, but the volatility on that coin was fucking incredible. I'd be buying at 1200sats and selling at 1800sats a few times a week. So much easy money, I really miss how the coin used to be. It's too stable now Sad
792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XEL] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: January 27, 2017, 06:43:59 PM
How can this be? On Ico sold 3,900,000 coins, and now they will be 100,000,000 coins. Who can explain it?

All ICO participants decided by vote with thier BTC private key that they want to expand supply by factor of X (in this case, 20). So in reality no one get more coins than before (with 5m supply). If you had 1,000 XEL with 5m scenario, after vote you have 20,000 XEL (with 100m scenario). We was afraid that 5m is not enough and not too "trendy". That's all.

If you are asking about 1,100,000 (5m - 3,9m) coins that left without owner. That amount was proportionally distributed to all participants. This was also ICO participants decision.

I'm not upset with this vote, but for future reference, where can I be made aware of and participate in such votes? Is it all in this thread? I will admit I hadn't been keeping up with the project for several months, but this is the first time I heard of this vote. I wish I had participated in it.
793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2017 and WHY !!! on: January 27, 2017, 06:40:31 PM
My portfolio that I plan on hodling for at least a good part of 2017 consists of the following: GameCredits, PepeCash, Elastic, YoviCoin, and Bitcoin

GameCredits is the one I'm most excited about. I think it has a high floor and a very, very high ceiling to explode into in the near future. PepeCash is the king of shitcoins, in my opinion. You can trade fucking pepes with it. Once that idea gains traction it's going to explode, too. Elastic was ICO I'm very happy about right now. Yovi is the one coin I wouldn't recommend- I bought in early and I've made 140x profit on it already, but it's too late to buy in to now.

And of course there's Bitcoin, I think 2017 could be another good year for the king of the cryptos.
794  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How does price go up or down? on: January 27, 2017, 06:27:14 PM
There are a few factors that can lead to the change in the price of an altcoin: A big one is manipulation- a centralized group working maliciously to change the price of a coin to fit their desires. Another one is announcements- when altcoins make big decisions, people react by buying and selling. Sometimes other coins effect prices- Bitcoin is a big factor, as it's by far the biggest indicator of the state of the overall crypto market. Smaller coins that are complements or substitutes will effect the prices of other coins they hold these relationships too. Trolls can change public opinion of coins. Devs can run with the money. False information/panic can spread. Hype effects price. World affairs can effect certain coins (boom of Political MemeCoins due to 2016 election cycle). Prominent individuals or groups referring to coins can change the price. These are just a few examples, and there are many more.

TL;DR anything and everything effects the price of shitcoins.
795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] YOVI - YobitVirtualCoin - 5% POS [ROM] on: January 27, 2017, 06:11:50 PM
Sold another 3 yovis for 0.019 again today. The market is rising a bit fast these days unlike the few months. I only have 129 yovis left to go with 2 orders at 0.008+ btc each. Hope it'll be sold again soon.  Cheesy I'll be rich if this will all be sold if the market continues. lol.

Can i know where are you selling the coins as i am seeing that we cannot sell the YOVI coin in the yobit exchange and they have mentioned in the selling side as RISE ONLY MARKET and have seen lot of users crying after buying not able to sell the YOVI coins

Go into the YOVI exchange tab, look at sell orders, and scroll down until you see a blue line. Blue lines indicate breaks in the sell orders, which is where you can put your coins for sale. You can only sell .01 worth per order, and you can only have 2 orders at a time. So basically you scroll down until there is an opening and put up 2 orders. You'll have to scroll down for a bit and it will take a while to fill, but overtime, prices will eventually make it up to your orders and they'll fill. Rinse and repeat after your orders are called.
796  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XEL] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: January 25, 2017, 06:55:35 PM
I made a little page to show the ICO statistics, based on the JSON which was available on Github: http://codepen.io/anon/pen/ZLJjBr

/EDIT

I cannot embed the image link somehow.. Don't know why

These numbers don't seem right? I got just north of 9k XEL for .05 BTC deposit.... based on average ICO price this is now worth close to 2 BTC? I don't think that can be right lol

This is one coin I will most DEFINITELY be staying FAR away from! I have had such HORRIBLE experiences using Yo-Bit, & when I came here to see if others were experiencing similar problems, the Threads were FILLED with complaints!

I wish it was a decent exchange, because then I would be an investor for sure..

Lmao if you know what you're getting into it's a pretty nice investment. I popped down 1mBTC into it when it first launched, and since holding it, I've been paid back .14 BTC. Definitely not a bad ROI if you ask me, and I still have plenty of YOVI left.

This is too bad... didn't put any money into it but signed up for the sig campaign since it was set up in such a way that legendary members were going to get paid stupidly more than everyone else. Oh well, I suppose its much worse for those who invested significant amounts. Quite a bit of money was raised here.
