If you had not heard, Bitcoin's lack of speed (10 minutes-ish) is a feature rather than a bug.

I would say thank you for adding this to my knowledge.

I would say this is a apple-banana comparison. Bitcoin is secure and decentralised. Stil faster than secure transportation of a gold bar (or crumbs).
A simple point most people new to Bitcoin (or too ignorant) are missing.
BTC took 12 years to be established to today's state, LN was starting just a few years ago.
Time is a factor, but you need to shift your focus from speed to reliability.

That's true. LN is addressing the scalability issue of bitcoin but still majority prefer the original bitcoin over this super fast LN. Definitely bitcoin have won the confidence of people over period of time.

You mean more payments over the blockchain than LN per day?
I doubt that. Got some numbers to support this statement?

LN is not only scalability, but also usability.

Look at the whole picture  Smiley

By the way multiverse is real ^^

I don't know about the multiverse, but your mum is more real  Tongue

I would say speed is where bitcoin is lagging behind LN and other payment system. Though LN was introduced to cater this shortcoming but wasn't able to take off till date.

[raises hand]

.. I have a question.

question.. .

question

question

me, me, me..

hahahaha

Earlier you mentioned that there might be ways to geolocate your location based on your pictures.  Do you still fear that sort of thing, or is it adequately sufficient to attempt to protect ur lil selfie by merely NOT disclosing the time that your photos were taken?.. presumptively the ban of your longitude might be easier to figure out than your latitude.. not that I am trying to break your opsec.. and if you want me to delete this post prior to anyone citing my profound insights, then please let me know if I have gone too far..  with my level of geniusness and giving hints to bad guys..   Cry Cry

Maybe we could give the solving of such problem over to fillippone since he seems to have a kind of knack for figuring out locations based on seemingly random pics provided by peeps (unless it is an inside job?) in these here parts?

The "Deep Sky" pictures aren't a problem. You'd need zillions of more megapixels to compute axis offsets and get rough geolocation results out of angular differencies when you shoot pictures of bright objects many lightyears apart, almost on the same axis of view. Superman isn't a member on this board, so the chances are quite zero.
What's more sensitive in terms od OpSec are wide angle pictures of the milky way or zodiac signs, including a horizon with some possible details.
One could calculate roughly when he knows the exact time of day and timezone, because elevation and direction, also angle of objects relative to the ground and horizon are given over the course of a year, even more so if solar planets are included in the pics. Basic astronomy knowledge wouldn't be enough, but if someone knows someone, you know, you can never know...

Next one?  Wink

EDIT: Well, on second thought, if i would have set up the camera mounted exactly level on the viewing axis of the scope, one could guess geolocation roughly by the angling of the deep sky objects in the picture frame, if he knows which hemisphere i'm on. Just because one axis (polar) is fixed and doesn't need to be guessed/computed.

After capturing the North America Nebula, i pointed the scope to a random region high up in the sky, which was suggested in my astronomy software.
The bad thing is, there is a bug in the software: When you change target, all the images are named after the old target (NGC7000 in this case), so i have no idea which object i was recording.

EDIT: This is why the color balancing is not really good. If i knew the object code, i could correct colors automatically. I'm not really skilled at this.

I'm satisfied with the scope. Seems to be the perfect hobby for bear markets  Grin Cool

Beautiful pics and I hope they have an update soon.
Would love to have a scope like that to gaze at the stars  Smiley

Even if you had a telescope like OOM, knowing how to use it does not seem to be any kind of walk in the park.. that's for sure.

Yes, that was what i though when i bought my first telescope eight years ago, just to sell it again a few months later. You have to put in some good effort to get results that keep you going at it  Roll Eyes

No prob when i'm aware of the issue, but this was the first timer. I also never captured more than one target per night.
I can't really gaze at stars because of a minor optical error at the cornea of my eyes, and the fact that these nebulous structures and dim/distant stars only come out via long exposure times the eyes aren't capable of. It's the play with the tech and background that had me in the first place. Oh, and i like to stay in quiet environments, mostly at night. The difference is that i can control all of the imaging from inside the house/car via WiFi in winter, too.

I did a plate solve for you. It's IC 5070 Pelican Nebula

Link to results :

Copy of the solve image :

Thanks a ton!
I discovered the ability to plate solve from images in my astronomy control system (Stellarmate) last night, but i was too tired and lazy to power it up.

Need to work a bit on mount stability soon, i want longer exposure times. Next year i will invest a more substantial sum into a solid and precise hardware base.
All in all, the current stuff is entry-level travel equipment, i'm already at 2/3 of load capacity at the weakest link of the chain  Sad

As i wrote yesterday, here is a 30 minute stacked exposure of NGC7000, a.k.a. North America Nebula, captured through a 430mm scope.
Missing aperture blades like in the 200mm zoom lens i used last time on this object, the stars are now round and unspiked.
Pretty good for such a low exposure time, we had very good sight last night.

Click for bigger size.

EDIT: Yeah, and it seems that i met some other Bitcoiner. Full story soon.

Returned from a week vacation in Zeeland. Hired a condo near the North Sea.

Barely used the internet during that time.

Fishing, beach walks (with dogs), boat trip, quality conversations with a glass of wine in the evening and -what i loved- jogging on the beach early in the morning.

Empathizing with nature environment cleared my mind from daily bullshit, it has positive cognitive and mental health benefits. It's actually a personal obligation for all people to do that few times a year.
------------------------------------------------

Hubble vs Webb Cartwheel Galaxy.

At this scale and resolution, the images are both the same, just that the reddish pic at the end of the morph shows more h-alpha content (distant nebulas and galaxies) in foreground and background. Or was it some kind of joke i didn't get?

no, bluish is Hubble, reddish is Webb, imho. one image "transforms" into another.
basically, interstellar dust absorbs UV and visible light, but does not absorb infrared, hence Webb's ability to "see through" better than Hubble in red/infrared.
I wonder if Webb could look at the Milky Way "arch". It should look quite different from what we used to, imho.
Not sure if it could take such panoramic view, though.

Correct. You can see the different mirror geometries in the shape of the star "spikes".
H-alpha is inside the visible infrared range, infrared is usually cut off because of focus shift and blur, BUT i doubt the NASA telescopes use color ccd imaging sensors, but monochrome ones. They capture wavelenghts separately and blend them together into a color image representation of the captured data. One monochrome sensor pixel collects four times more light than its color pendant, which is very wanted in deep space photography.
Of course, the Webb could be used for panoramas, but this would need a lot of separate shots stitched together.
I guess it's the sensor/mirror combination that allows Webb to collect more light at mkre selective wavelengths, to make it look "deeper" into space, also contributed by better signal/noise result ratios.

The shift in resolution isn't obvious in the small animated .gif, which would make quite a difference when watching close-up (or far-out).

Just came from outside testing a new (used) 430mm scope. Had to combat software bugs regarding the camera driver after an update and used the clear sky to record lights of two nebulas, 30 minutes exposure each, for a quick test. Look OK on the first glance. Tomorrow i should have time to process the data and upload some images via imgur and i strongly guess i'll be posting them here, too.

how about now?

........

quite significant difference from what I can see... remember one is dust and visible light the other in the infrared
seeing the heat distribution and the expansion filaments of a image offers incredible insight into stellar formation theory
JWST is a game changer

Totally agree. It's just that most differencies don't come out as in comparison to full scale images through the gif.
Webb results are amazing, as well as the NASA image processing.

Good night.

EDIT: There definitely also seems to be some ("invisible") infrared content along with h-alpha (deep dark-red).

I'm not sure if u'r trolling or wtf, but I'l consider it as being trolling. But, I usually don't do 'free shrinking advice'. Sometimes when we manifest repetitive actions it is indicative of our own current evolution and state of mind. If we focus and invest too much energy in something repetitive, it means there is some value for us in those repetitive actions. For me helping JayJuan fix his/her repetitive actions, means that I don't have to write, because Juanita writes for me when talks pointless and endless bullsh!t about anything.

So if I fix something that is broken in someone that can and likes to write more then I do.
Then it means I can write for free.

ANd maybe you do get off from that sh!t when using specific words to trigger a specific emotional intensity response from those that get offended. But who cares? You get off good for you, you win, you take, you consume, you satisfied. Next victim plz!?  Roll Eyes  Roll Eyes     (and I will admit when you will ever be able to make me "mad"/"upset", cuz for now, I was just pointing out thngs)

So i got two scenarios in mind:

1. Bitcoin upity getting rejected in the $24k to $25k area, correcting a bit before further up moves.
2. Bitcoin goes up to $26k-$27k before correcting short term.

WO traders, any opinion(s) on this?
