821  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and misinformation on: November 07, 2023, 09:18:51 PM
Bitcoin as the father of all cryptocurrency have hard it ups and down since it came into existence, but what I observe lately is the misinformation about Bitcoin that got me worried like in this time and age, people still take Bitcoin as a scam.

I wouldn't deny that in my early days of investment, I really was unconvinced by the presentation i had about Bitcoin, which I took it as one of these fraudster trying to milk the general public as mmm did, but with time, after doing some research and finding I discovered how misinformed I was about it.

Right now most people are like me years back, they are totally misinformed about Bitcoin, the best I do for them right now is to educate them about it, which some even told me what they think Bitcoin was, which is totally untrue about it.
but in as much as am trying to share knowledge about Bitcoin to those who lack it, I don't try to force it on anyone so they won't see me as a scam.
It's really hard to combat misinformation when you don't say what it is exactly. You didn't say how you or others are misinformed.

I mean i can think of several fud reasons that are easy to brush off, but there are many different angles people are using to spread misinformation, and not all of them can be brushed off in same way. Some of them are not misinformation, but just data without context. Some of them are exaggerated claims, some pure lies, and some have seed of truth, some of them aren't really lies but told with bunch of lies. So that truth gets mixed with lies.

Most of the time people don't just understand the concept, or arguments get heated because apparently some protocols are too dangerous for people to play with.

I mean i have spoken for bitcoin, but i can't argue that all use cases are going to be positive. Like any tool, it can be used in many ways. And it's hard to say if all the people should have access to all the tools that can hurt there. It's whole another argument all together imho.

822  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do You Believe That Reading People's Bad Experience Will Help You on: November 06, 2023, 05:15:12 PM
If you're starting your journey on gambling do you think reading about people's bad experiences like losing their savings and getting depressed which leads to loss of jobs and livelihood will help new gamblers to become responsible gamblers for fear that what they read will happen to them?

I ask this because, in our country, our government has mandated cigarette manufacturers to post graphic images of those who suffer from the bad effects of cigarettes on every pack of cigarettes like lung cancer pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis

So do you think it will be the same with gambling?
If that would have as devastating impact to cost to society and health, then it would be possible that your (and my) government would took take similar approach.
But you don't get lung cancer from gambling. That doesn't mean that government wouldn't combat against it in some way, but i don't think it will be such a vivid attack on morals.
Most likely it will be more subtle, giving help instead of judging.

And i think that biggest problem they see in it, is possible tax evasion, so they just want to track your money in more effective way.
823  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - Drake, UFC, Everton, Alfa Romeo F1 Team on: November 06, 2023, 04:43:14 PM
I wonder what is more popular in steak casinos - sports betting or slot machines?
I think slots come first

It isn't really matter of opinion.
Quote from: pokertube
And that's on average. When you look at the rtp numbers, it's easy to understand why. Some people seem to say that making decent living by betting in sports, or with poker, because odds on that are way better if you know what you are doing. But no one is claiming to make living with slots. No one would even believe that claim.

But slots are easier and changes to win high multipliers is exciting. Especially when you really can't make mistakes. You don't make wrong bets because you can't affect to outcome with slots. That's kind of comforting. You just win if you win. There's nothing deeper. I have almost zen like state playing slots.
824  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have your own casino. on: November 06, 2023, 04:33:11 PM
How many of you have dreamed about having your casino? Be the house and play the always-win game.

In the past years it was different, people who could build a provably fair engine were able to have their own casino, but now we are playing with new rules, the casinos must have a license and games providers, and that's what people are looking for, and i don't say is something bad, the gambling experience on stake compared with the gambling experience on satoshi bones is enormous.

But getting back into the topic, i would like to read some nice histories from the community, those who only dream about their own casino, and those who make their dreams come true.
I have invested to some casinos bankroll, to get profits when casinos made profit when that option was still a quite common thing. Does that count? My experience on that wasn't as exciting as i would thought.
Then again i invested peanuts and would have needed to keep my money more then my lifetime to make any money. For someone who was looking at the highly volatile tradomg charts making impressive moves, looking at my bankroll was like looking at a snail moving. Sometimes it took a hit and went back sometimes it slowly moved up, but in such a slow pace that anyone would get bored.

I am guessing it would be different with a high volume casino with a billion dollars invested. But then again, i might do something else with that money. Casinos are an over crowded area, and it would be hard to fight against established casinos. So i would look something safer.
825  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should Casinos Sponsor Sites That Deals With Gambling Addiction on: November 06, 2023, 04:25:03 PM
In some cases they already do. Like in Finland, income of government monopoly casinos are directed all kinds charity programs or in other way important programs.
So i guess it depends on where you live, as i am aware that we are not exception. But from what i've gathered, these things usually start from political pressure and legistlations. Like the self-exclusion option that's mandatory in all casinos.

I saw someone saying here that casinos benefit from gambling addictions so they don't want to sponsor those sites. I don't see it that way.

Casinos benefit from steady income. Addiction can ruin lifes and budgets to the point, that at some point those people won't be giving any income.
In fact they could have an opposite effect as they act as a warning and could turn and speak against gambling.

I don't have any data about this but my gut feeling is that majority of gamblers aren't addicts, that can't control their urges. Majority of them have steady income, which is the reason they can provide steady income. Versus someone who has ruined his finances and life because of addiction. Those people aren't helping casinos, so i don't think casinos want people to get severely addicted.

Some level of addiction however is needed in capitalistic society. Everyone wants customers to come back.
826  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys believe in other people luck and try to copy them? on: November 06, 2023, 12:18:26 AM
Whenever I am low on cash on the casino I play which includes a sport book I like to copy other people bets, usually parlays with odds over 1000 and I think to myself who cares if I play for example 50 bets copying other people with 200 IDR as my base bet,if any of these guys hits it big I will do to.Notice that I put 1000 as a minimum here but the reality is that I have been copying bets with over 700.000 as odds,I damn love these huge multipliers yet no one has got such one in sport betting.

Of course in here it is not about skill or luck games anymore but it is about destiny,so tell me how many of you are deceived by dreams that may change your destiny like I am  Grin?
I have tried to copy some of them randomly, but so far i had no luck with them. Maybe because they were impossible 20+ multibets giving freakishly high multipliers.
I might as well just play on my own. I do need to work for research but at least in that way if i win, i can feel accomplishing something. Even if i won mainly because of luck.

Huge multipliers are huge for a reason. Winning them might be trickier than winning a lottery. Depending how many and what kind of bets you are making.
827  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 Oscar Awards bets and discussions on: November 06, 2023, 12:06:17 AM
Bookmakers really think Barbie will be nominated for the ceremony as a contestant for the best picture of the year? Along with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as contestant for best actor and actress of the year? OMG it's insane. There is an option to bet against that somewhere? That would be crazy to be honest, I don't think it's a bad movie, but we are talking about the award of the Oscars academy here. For me, it was more a children or teenage movie than an adult one. And especially, more a long advertising for Mattel and Barbie toys than a serious movie.

I think it was a genius move from Mattel to let them openly critizise the Barbie brand in the movie. It had fresh takes and frankly it surprised me positively. Maybe it wins with best original song or best adapted screenplay or something, but i don't think it's in the same league as other films nominated.

And would be absolutely puzzled if Oppenheimer wouldn't win best director award. Making a movie of that scale, that is supposed to have atom bomb blast without any CGI is an ambitious job to say the least. But i guess they don't do it purely on ideological reasons. I remember Nolan saying that they choose to blew up a real working Boeing 747 for Tenet because it is cheaper than doing it with CGI.
828  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Out of curiosity, how much you wagered recently? on: November 05, 2023, 01:51:10 AM
I think we have a winner here:

Tyler “Trainwreckstv” a prominent Twitch streamer, has allegedly embarked on an extraordinary gambling journey, with a jaw-dropping $14 billion in bets placed on the online crypto gambling platform

I saw people wagering a lot of money, but this guy took it to some higher levels... How can we compete in some wagering wars and competitions against players who wager so much? Do we even have a chance? Smiley
Another level to say the least. I feel like that amount is impossible to put in context so that people would understand how much it is in reality, because people get confused by just a million.

But let's try:

  • He gambled 17% of Finland's yearly budged.
  • New York median listing home price is $899000, so $14 billion would mean 15572 median price houses in New York.
  • Most expensive movie today (Force awakens) was $552 million dollars, with $14 billion you could produce over 25 of those.
  • When $64.1 Million dollars were stolen from Stake this year in a heist. People were worried if their money was safe. Trying to explain how little that was from their yearly revenue was hard to visualize. This time i thought i would provide visual perspective:

Tldr; 14 billion is a lot of money.

Will you leave gambling if your future wife/husband tells you to do this ?
I would like to hear her / his arguments on why first. But i don't think i would end up marrying in that kind of relationship in the first place. But let's assume i did.

I would probably want to talk about it, as everything (or most cases in relationship) are a discussion, as there are 2 of you or more if not in monogamy. In every partnership it's important to listen to everyone involved. One member of family can't just set up rules without discussing it with others. There will be compromises and emphatic listening of others.

You can't change what your partner likes or dislikes. It isn't wise to try to control hobbies and friends either. So throwing ultimatums about gambling of all things should be explained and justified in reasonable way. At least to me. Just someone getting discomfort of me playing 5 bucks per week (if we could afford it) for example wouldn't be something i would accept as a reason. People sometimes can feel uncomfortable because someone's actions, but it doesn't always mean they should try to change others behavior.

Sometimes we need to accept each others weird hobbies we don't understand, or we don't like. If it doesn't directly affect on my daily routines, but i would feel discomfort, i would see that as a my problem. Not my partner's problem.
830  Economy / Gambling / Re: ✨ Shuffle.com | The next generation of crypto casinos | Sports, Casino + token on: November 04, 2023, 11:35:10 PM
We all are anticipating the drop of the shuffle token airdrop because I want to be among the early adopters of this project. After all, the price of the token is still at a low level at the point of the pre-sale,  and also we may be having some other bonuses and special treatment in the casino if we use the token to gamble in the casino,  this is why and the reasons most of us still expect something good from the new casinos that are developing their own native tokens.
-cut-
I am not sure what you are talking about. Token has no price yet, better yet it doesn't even exist yet, nor it has any kind of pre-sale, ico or transparent tokenomics.
So what do you mean price is low?

And i can't see anything indicating that we would be getting special treatment just by gambling with $shfl on the casino. Gambling with it will most likely be like gambling with any token, although i am not sure if you can use all the games with it, or sports betting. Bonuses etc will most likely come by holding it. Or locking / staking it. We just don't know.

831  Economy / Economics / Re: AI will put an end to work, says Elon Musk on: November 04, 2023, 11:28:00 PM
During an uncommon interview conducted by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, the tech billionaire Elon Musk predicted that if AI is not regulated, there will be a time when no job will be needed. This means that AI tools would take over the entire work of men making paid jobs become reductant. He even claimed that humanoid robots might be a perfect friend for one of his sons who is having difficulty in having friends. I have always believed that regardless of how sophisticated these AI tools become, they will never replace humans. But hearing this prediction for an individual who has a full understanding of the AI sector is frightening. Elon Musk owns an AI company, xAI, that is competing with big AI firms like OpenAI, Google and Anthropic.

These comments can increase the fear and anxiety workers always had that these super-computers will replace them in future. What are your thoughts regarding the statement by Elon, do you think we should take him seriously?
Elon doesn't need to know what he is talking about, so this is the perfect platform for him. He doesn't need to know anything, he needs to fud and use fearmongering as a tool because Elon wants to regulate AI. Not because he would be worried about it, but because he has left behind. If he would own the leading development, he would try to demolish all the restricting regulations from development. Now it's only for companies he didn't get to lead. Elon doesn't know enough about this subject, he jus suffers from delusions of grandeur. And since all his fanbois are fueling the belief of him being a tech Jesus.

Quote from: Elon
"There is a safety concern, especially with humanoid robots - at least a car can't chase you into a building or up a tree," he told the audience.

I am not sure how much ketamine has he taken lately, but this is just beyond stupid.

Should we remind ourselves that Chatgpt for example can't think. It's a language model, and brilliant tool for coding for example. But it doesn't "think". Anyone who has used it long enough start to see how far it is from replacing humans from anything.

Sure it can replace some jobs, but those were meaningless jobs in the first place, and of course at some point most of jobs will be automated, but that's not a new thing. That's been increasing since the industrial revolution. And happened way before that.
832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Pyth network retrospective airdrop eligibility checker live on: November 04, 2023, 11:01:44 PM
It appears that only my Solana wallet qualifies, despite my extensive activity across various EVM-compatible platforms. Most likely none of the dApps I've engaged with are using Pyth as Chainlink is the preferred choice usually. Still better than nothing.

If $PYTH can get the same FDV as $LINK, we could potentially see $1 per $PYTH token. That's the optimistic scenario. Realistically though, I would estimate the price to settle in the range of $0.1 to $0.5.

I had to double check your math as i i haven't seem link for ages and didn't realize that link was as high as that in the marketcap. But your estimation checks out.
I am not sure on what rate the supply is growing on this one, but if the airdrop is 900m tokens, and the marketcap is counted from circulating supply, then you only need $900m marketcap for this to have $1 per token. That would put Pyth on 52th place in the coinmarketcap. And from what i've read about this, it could easily happen.

Naturally i am rooting for fraction of it as i wasn't eligible for the airdrop and i want to buy. I missed out because this was the first time i even heard about Pyth. There has been too many of them to keep track of, but i am interested now. But still i am not going to pay overvalued prices.
833  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Updated] FTX on: November 04, 2023, 09:37:35 PM
I disagree. If someone is facing a lifetime in prison, all types of other options on how to reduce sentence will certainly be more attractive than the option facing him.

However, agree on Sam Bankrupt-Fraud becoming a whistleblower. Sam Tabasco is waiting for him and become partners again hehehe. I speculate Sam Tabasco to be whistlerblower no.1 who might have made a deal with the government already.
I seriously doubt there's going to be any sort of deal at this point.  What more he could even give them that he already did? What whistle there is left to blow?

There already was 15 days of testimonies and pretty much everything has been revealed. Only after that jurors found him guilty on seven counts of fraud and conspiracy, so now he is facing up to 110 years. He most likely won't get full sentence but enough to sit rest of his years in jail.

SBF was a main character behind this and he is taking most ofl the blame on this.

Quote from: US Attorney Damian Williams
US Attorney Damian Williams lauded the jury’s verdict, saying the government has “no patience” for fraud and corruption.

“These players like Sam Bankman-Fried might be new, but this kind of fraud, this kind of corruption, is as old as time,” he said.

This pretty much summarizes the attitude against SBF and he won't be walking.
834  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Conclusion after losing millions! that games are rigged. on: November 03, 2023, 11:22:51 PM
hey guys,
I was watching this video, where a popular twitch streamer who used to gamble and stream on twitch, had betted millions on slots and on online casino and losing till now.
watch and listen that video he tells why he thinks slots is rigged, the games are not random as the website shows. if you will see his more videos you will understand why is think like that.
I think he just talked about slots, but I also think games that are told provably fair by casinos are rigged in someway.

Here's a example what happens with me:
When I bet big suddenly on crash game on stake it every time stops and seems like the computer is thinking about results after waiting for sometimes i bust at 1x to 1.10x, I would had believed that it is random when this incident happens with me once or twice but it happened with me more than 10 times, I betted my all funds but every time on crash it waits and think to how to bust me on short time.

other incidents are with mines when I bet big on mines even when selected on one bomb when i click to flip that box, the computer thinks and gives me small two or three wins then bust my all funds.
this incident is happened with me more than 6times on stake. dragon tower is father of all games here I never won on even taking lowest risk.

what do you think about this? are games which are played by computers are rigged? don't answer like we play for fun, we are responsible, we are bitcoiner we know to verify bets, etc.
Why are these people always thinking it's rigged when they lose? It's like they are thinking that they deserve to win. I guess probabilities are hard pill to swallow because people don't seem to understand why they win or lose. Instead accepting that you are losing in crash, which is mathematically likely, you think that you can spot how computer is thinking how it bust your bets. Are you aware that sounds crazy?

Online casinos get constantly audited by different parties, And all it would take is a one time bust that they would get caught and their reputation would end. Why in the name of everything holy they would want to risk that. And to top of that to leave you visual clues where you can spot the rigged machine?
835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: THE TOP 5 CRYPTO NARRATIVES on: November 03, 2023, 11:10:05 PM
-cut-
2. REAL WORLD ASSETS; For me, this is going to be one of the top driving narratives in the next bull run
#RWA are assets that exist in the physical world or off-chain but are tokenized and transferred on- chain to act as a source of yield in DeFi.
examples include, Real Estate, Bonds, etc.
-cut-
There have been others. All it takes is a right name when something happens in the world and your coin or token happens to have same name, people are going to buy it. Or maybe they are bots. Not sure.

But RWAs supposed to be a thing at last bullrun already. Suitable tech for it just doesn't really exist so that blockchain solution would make sense. It needs to be a system that requires no previous skills with blockchain tech in order to bring adoption. And then there are id/ownership rights problem with permissionless tokens because holding a token is not a legal contract.

Working tech doesn't yet exist and frankly i don't see it getting finished for next bullrun. And selling synthetics wouldn't be anything new. Or even anything desirable.

3. Another trending narrative is TELEGRAM BOTS
In 2023, there was also a rise in TELEGRAM crypto trading bots
They offer users convenience and efficiency when it comes to executing trades
this narratives is still making lots of waves.
These have existed for a long time, and they are not really narrative, just a way to exchange tokens. Frankly i don't see anything new in it. It just a centralized swap that opens new ways to scam people.
836  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Telegram Casinos good or bad? on: November 03, 2023, 10:50:46 PM
So, the latest trend when it comes to crypto gambling is the new wave of Telegram Casinos . I'm not talking about those early bots where you could play simple blackjack games in a Telegram group; I'm referring to these new crypto casinos like TG Casino, Mega Dice, and Lucky Block. They've created tailor-made mobile casinos for the Telegram audience, allowing players to log in through their Telegram accounts and start playing instantly without the need for KYC.

What do you guys think about this new trend? Is it good or bad?
Those seem still to be just bots, just more complex, so i don't know what has changed. And yeah, you don't need kyc but there's zero protection for your money. Trust on these kind of systems remind me early days, in good and bad as there was no regulations what so ever. It was a wild west and

And first question that raised into my head was: What if those casino bot accounts get blocked by telegram? Who are you contacting for refund? Or is it just over and you have to move on towards the next scam?

But as an answer to your question: Yes, they are as horrible idea as trusting random people in the telegram.
If you are sending money to centralized pseudonymous accounts and there comes a day when you don't get your money back. Don't act surprised.
837  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SEC Charges Crypto Company SafeMoon and its Executive Team for Fraud on: November 03, 2023, 12:57:27 AM
I just read the news. Get out while you still can!

Quote
The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged SafeMoon LLC, its creator Kyle Nagy, SafeMoon US LLC, and the companies’ Chief Executive Officer, John Karony, and Chief Technology Officer, Thomas Smith, for perpetrating a massive fraudulent scheme through the unregistered sale of the crypto asset security, SafeMoon. According to the SEC’s complaint, the Defendants promised to take the price of the token “Safely to the moon,” but instead of delivering profits, they wiped out billions in market capitalization, withdrew crypto assets worth more than $200 million from the project, and misappropriated investor funds for personal use.

https://www.sec.gov/news/press-release/2023-229
https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2023/11/01/sec-charges-safemoon-team-with-fraud-offering-unregistered-crypto-securities/

Unregistered securities offering charge was given, anyone who followed their advertisement and their telegram chat, it was just a matter of time. It was like following a weird money cult.
And sadly people don't seem to understand that they didn't get sued just because the price went down. That was going to happen anyway as things don't just moon all the way. After it becomes obvious, people start selling to get out before they lose everything.

Hopefully that fraud charge added to the top will act as a warning. Sadly there are several other scams out there operating on same principle, but sec has time only for biggest ones.
And i am assuming that no one will learn from this. Not the investors or next pump moon token creators. Everyone will think they got sued because the price dropped. But that's just a byproduct of a scam.
838  Economy / Gambling / Re: $$$ VIP CLUB STAKE.com LEVEL-UP & ROLLBIT RANK-UP RISK FREE STRATEGY$$$ on: November 03, 2023, 12:00:42 AM
So if you have managed to make a risk free infinity money machine, why do you need referral links for pocket money? Or could it be you are fishing here?

Random pics or screen grabs are a nice touch but they aren't any kind of proof. I can use inspect element and edit anything on any site in my browser and screengrab it. Anyone can.
And even if this was real and you made money with your concept, that just underlines my first question.
if I get people to sign up who make a volume of 5/10/20K per month without making them lose $1 and earning on top of their bets which bring them earnings thanks to the level up in the VIP club, why not do it?
And if you already can make that money by yourself, and level yourself in the vip club, why don't you do that instead. If your method would work am certain you will be making millions in no time and don't require nickels and dimes. As you level way faster by yourself. Saying over and over how people can't lose is just lazy scamming.

Do you understand me? Wink
That's not an issue. I would go with occam's razor on this one and saying you are just a a newb account lying.

Imho this thread is a form of begging and against forum rules.

Maybe quote from their medium block will answer your question:

Quote from: Memefarm medium blog link
$MemeFarm is a digital token built on the Ethereum blockchain.$MEMEFARMS lacks any functionalities, utility, or inherent value, and it does not guarantee or imply any financial returns, profits, interests, or dividends.

If that doesn't answer it and your question was serious, here's my short answer: No one knows.

No one knows because anything can happen, but that doesn't mean it has a 50/50 change to be a good investment. In fact all the evidence points to nonsensical project that shouldn't have value in the first place. They even openly admit it. Most likely because of legal reasons in case this moons.

That being said. There are stupid tokens mooning all the time. Just vast majority of them don't do that, and you don't hear from them so you don't see the big picture, and we tend to hear endlessly about the ones what moon. That's why you think there's a real change for this to moon. While that change is size of grain of sand in crypto sahara.
840  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Nigerians spend $975m daily on online betting on: November 02, 2023, 11:27:52 PM
Data from the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) has revealed that over 65 million Nigerians actively engage in betting, spending an average of $15 daily. This is just as it disclosed that everyday, 14 million bet takes and payments are made online in the country. continue reading here....

Recalled that Nigeria population is estimated to be around 200+million and from the information above, over 65 million people are engaged in gambling on a daily basis amounting to over 32% of the country population. With the recent economic crisis and hardship affecting almost all the nations, if large number of people are spending this much on betting, can we say that they relied on gambling to survive?

But, I think we need to know how much betting sites are paying out daily too, so we can make comparison.  Grin
When the regime is not stable, i wouldn't be surprised if citizens would want to use online casinos simply as banks to store their wealth in. And this is probably something that is going on with crypto exchanges as much as with online casinos. If my bank had a gambling option, i might gamble more as well.

When one lives their life under corrupted officials, i assume that even shadiest exchange seem like a trusted ally, not to mention trustworthy established casinos. As additional bonus, those probably don't have to give up their user data of Nigerians to Nigerian officials, as Nigeria has no leverage over them. So it's a no-brainer to use them
