I don't blame anyone for trying to get in position beneath a helicopter that looks like its going to drop a ton of money on a crowd.

I have my low buy orders in too, even while I was working to get that wallet frozen at Bittrex.  Balu2 is a good guy, one of the first to report what was going on here, even before I noticed.

I scored some Uno in the 004's.  I also bought it back up earlier close to 006.  If Bittrex wants to reverse those transactions, thats fine with me. I think we would all rather see it returned to the rightful owners.  But.... can't blame a guy for posting a buy order.  There is no guarantee that the dump would occur, or that if a dump does occur that it's with tainted funds. Only Bittrex knows. I'm sure they will do the right thing.

I usually have some deep buy orders on the books anyway. Periodic dumps are are a fact of crypto.

I think that with so many people watching our community today, a flame war here is out of the question.  Please take it to the Official UNO Off-Topic Thread.

Some of the newer people here might enjoy these posts from a couple of years ago. The UNO community has long been concerned about large amounts of rare UNO stored on exchanges, Cryptsy in particular.

Here is a prescient post by our old friend Gustav about Cryptsy, from 2 years ago!
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=527500.msg7848206;topicseen#msg7848206

In this post from June 2014 by Voluntarist500 recaps  and comments on what we learned by tracing the stolen Uno from Coinex. The Coinex thief liquidated the Uno on the Cryptsy market slowly for months, keeping the price low. We couldn't stop it, but we eventually figured it out.C
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=527500.msg7516580;topicseen#msg7516580

I love his comment, "never ever again let it happen that there are that many percent of a coin in one place. Not mintpal and cryptsy - cryptsy has too much on the books. Remove some there for the moment"

Now there is probably 40,000 Un stored on Bittrex at this moment. It is always a concern of ours. So we've been in this situation before, hopefully never again. But UNO always seems to come out of it stronger.

Its good to see people talking about UNO, and I'm glad the community was so vigilant to spot this movement of funds.

Good work everyone.  Our quick actions may have: a) saved the price of UNO from dumps, b) recovered $40k in stolen Un that is the property of investors & community members, c) made a broke Big Vern sleep beneath a cardboard box in a dirty Chinese alley last night because his evil plan failed, and d) elevated UNO in the Bitcoin news media & on twitter.

Yesterday, I went to unobtanium.uno to check the price of Uno (like I do about 50 times a day) and was suprised to see it so low.  I went to Bittrex on my mobile to see what was going on. There, I accidentally hit the Un distribution chart with my fat fingers and just sorta stared at it.... WTF was this 15k Un wallet doing here, dwarfing the 6k wallet?  I jumped over to BTC and read alarming posts here by Baars, Balu2 CraigSwalby, Learminer...  I investigated the top UNO wallet on Chainz, and it was obvious was happening.

Bittrex has been responsive to the situation. Kudos to them.

I'll try to contact Mr. Sallah in a couple of hours after he rolls into work in his Tesla,  and will let you know if I reach him or a minion.

UNO is a survivor.   Coinex.  Mintpal.  Allcrypt.  Cryptsy.   We will absorb and survive this, too.

To your point, I will be glad to try and place calls to Mr. Sallah, #Cryptsy asset administrator.

Do we have any information on him? Where he is based?  Can someone doxx him tonight?
867  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update to 0.10 Wallet - Merge Mine w/BTC! on: April 11, 2016, 12:19:58 AM
I want to see this UNO returned to the owners.
There's only so much we can do. It's in Bittrex' hands.
Get your low buy orders up. If its gonna dump, might as well come to us.

I'll take another 1k at 003, and hundreds more in the 004's.

These coins shouldn't come to market in this way. I hope bittrex can verify the owner of that account. These coins should be under control of Mr. Sallah and they likely aren't right now. If bittrex doesn't react we could take it a step further and contact Mr. Sallah? When the authorities order the account to be frozen they'll certainly listen. Hope bittrex does react apropriately and quick.

We already know that Mr. Sallah should have moved ALL cryptocurrency assets to new addresses. The fact that he hasn't suggests either a) he is unable to, or b) he is getting poor advice.  As it is, UNO has been sitting for months at an address that could easily be controlled by BigVern & possibly the "hacker" if there is any hacker.

I have confidence in Bittrex that when this comes to their attention, and after 10 seconds of analyzing the blockchain evidence, they will do the right thing.

This is a total KYC issue here. They cannot afford to delay.
If it was court ordered, then fine, I totally accept that.  But that doesn't mean that Sallah has NOT been incompetent in his handling of Cryptsy's assets.

The Cryptsy cold wallet has been moved to a wallet at Bittrex.

This is EXTREMELY suspicious, since Cryptsy is in receivership with assets frozen. We know that this UNO belongs to investors, and I know some of them.   This wallet has not moved since 12 January, 2016, until today.

It is completely unexpected that the entire UNO cold wallet at Cryptsy should move to Bittrex on a Sunday night, without some word from the court or Cryptsy.

The old address was:
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/uno/address.dws?ucVxMWGddgNDr9oysnqc5dU8bZmhpq3xTs.htm

The new address is:
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/uno/address.dws?205679.htm

Here is the distribution of wallets on Bittrex at this moment:

The largest Bittrex wallet is new, today, and cointains the UNO that was previously in the Cryptsy UNO cold wallet. Just follow the blockchain transactions.

Clearly the wallet is being liquidated without thought of price, instead of maximizing the value of the asset.
Big Vern is rumored to be in China. He he could easily have the private keys and could be taking it. The alleged hacker(s) could also have the private keys. In any event, it really should be looked at hard by Bittrex.

I reached out to Bittrex support and explained the situation, and have asked them to FREEZE that #1 wallet due to the facts surrounding it. No word yet, but Bittrex has always done right by UNO. I hope we can get their attention in time.

I hope there is a good explanation for this and that the funds will ultimately be safe, but I think we're justified as a community to sound an alarm and to ask Bittrex to take a hard look at this situation, and investigate the owner of that Bittrex wallet.

Bittrex support has been notified.

*(still honest) and doing the right thing given the situation ... props Wink

eThought is one of the best. Sorry to see it go, though I didn't personally have a need for it. There are so many other wallet options available now that were not well developed when coinwallet started. Its amazing he was able to keep the hackers out.

I hope ethought will continue with his exchange project, https://www.coinexchange.io/market/UNO/BTC

Agreed. If there are pairs that we like to trade, go to Cryptopia and help make the market in UNO.

Cryptopia believes in UNO and have given our community a very unique opportunity that thousands of other cryptocurrencies would like have.
Sequestering UNO in those altmarkets is good for the overall price. If you're a START or a DECRED fan, why not help make the market in UNO.

Resetting UNO testnet3 from the gensis block wouldn't even be a fork... it would just be a new coin, testnet4 (ProtaniumII or UnobtaniumJR).
If it was so easy to evaporate an entire network, someone would have come along by now and done it to Bitcoin.
Show me how, and lets go test your theory on unattainium.
874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update to 0.10 Wallet - Merge Mine w/BTC! on: April 05, 2016, 11:01:00 PM
Re UNO Testnet/PR - worst that happens is that it gets reset in a future wallet, and you can no longer access your Testnet3/PR through the UNO wallet.

You'd use the PR client instead.   If he ever needs a Uno testnet because he can't work on PR, BW will create a genesis block for a new testnet and compile a new client. Testnet3/PR has long run off down the road as its own thing. It won't simply evaporate by resetting it, because there is a network and nodes that have arrived at consensus... they won't just immediately wipe out the entire blockchain and sync to block 1 of testnet4.  You'd have to take down the entire network (which admittedly, might not be too difficult).

Anyway... its not a big deal to me. Its just another piece of UNO's interesting history.

I hope someone is writing all these adventures down. I'd be the first to buy the book, "The Unabridged History of Unobtanium." Chapter 26:  Prototanium.

A judge has frozen Cryptsy's remaining assets. It looks like the inkling a few of you had is right; the UNO there will be locked up for quite some time. On the bright side, it may be returned at some point.

Source: http://themerkle.com/florida-judge-freezes-cryptsy-assets-and-appoints-receiver/

Kenneth Marra, a Florida District Judge, has frozen what remains of assets belonging to Cryptsy. James D. Sallah has been appointed as Receiver.

The order states:

“The Receiver shall assume and control the operations of Cryptsy and shall pursue and preserve all of its claims.”

Sallah is authorized to take possession of all Cryptsy assets, including any digital currency deposits like UNO that were not withdrawn prior to the shutdown.

Paul Vernon told CoinDesk in January that he was “travelling” in China, and has not been seen, or heard from, since that interview.

The Cryptsy UNO cold wallet is still here, https://chainz.cryptoid.info/uno/address.dws?202946.htm

Long after bitcoin is abandoned for ETH I will still be mining UNO.

There can be as many testnets as we need. PR was built on #3.  We won't run out of testnets.

173499 Huh

The word is that the new wallet is hitting checkpoints and stalling.  Sorry we didn't catch that.  A new build is expected later today that will address it.   If I were a professional software tester, I would caught this.

So again.... don't install this one. Wait for later today.
879  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin without Altcoin ? on: April 03, 2016, 03:06:26 AM
Well altcoins made several people earn and keep making people earn insanes ammounts with it,soo thats why they keep and will always be.The main fact is all altcoins has the xxx/uᴉoɔʇᴉq  .I believe if were only uᴉoɔʇᴉq we could see some manipulation at the uᴉoɔʇᴉq value ,and well less people thinking its a scam project, but well altcoins are supporting the uᴉoɔʇᴉq earnings.

I think altcoins just preventing bitcoin to evolve and grow maybe i am not right but that's what i am thinking.

With the help of alt coin bitcoin can integrate some part of other alt coins so that bitcoin can evolve in to a better coin.

the question is HOW

i don't think altcoins have any benefit for bitcoin, correct me if i am wrong but there has been no change in bitcoin that was caused by altcoins!
If there hasn't been any change or improvement in Bitcoin, dont blame altcoins. Alts have lead the way in more secure algos, faster and larger blocks. There has been the learning that comes from 3000 independent experiments that Bitcoin could been cherrypicking.  Instead, Bitcoin is bogged down by stubborn in-fighting, those freakin' tiny & slow 10 minute blocks.  There's a lot that Bitcoin could adapt and use from the altcoin world to improve itself,  if it wasn't so institutionalized, paralyzed, and dominated by a few vested interests. Bitcoin will never last with its impractically slow confirmations. The world will simply move on one day without Bitcoin if it doesn't get its shit together and absorb the best of the altcoin experiments.
880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / PR Windows Wallet 0.10.1.12 on: April 03, 2016, 12:37:56 AM
Great News, Protanium fans!

A developer has claimed the bounty I offered the other day on Cryptocointalk, and has delivered a Prototanium Windows wallet that connects to the network without problems.   I found 5 nodes immediately, but the chain I had did not sync. I downloaded the chain again, and now everything is running fine.

The dev also gave us a wallet for Mac. I was unable to test the Mac wallet, so Mac users let me know your feedback on it.

The developer is anonymous but was introduced to me through a very credible and long-term user on the Cryptocointalk forum who I  have known for two years and trust.  I was assurred by Jimmy on Cryptocointalk (Jimmy runs cryptocointalk) that this dev is legit, but simply doesn't want to be seen as the permanent developer of Protanium. If you're concerned, then sandbox the wallet with Virtualbox.
