861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the death of block reward kill BTC? on: July 20, 2017, 12:06:36 AM
Essentially, its a self solving problem to me. If bitcoin is around for the time it takes to mine all blocks, bitcoin is a sure thing at that point, and we can safely assume there will be enough volume of transactions to make up for the block reward. but, this should also dictate that the average transaction size would go down as the price goes up, which should generate less fees per transaction, but more transactions. but im still stuck at "if bitcoin is here a century from now". quite possible, but I think we will have moved on to something much cooler, but similar, to bitcoin by then. bitcoin will be a collectors item Cheesy

this was a good question Wink
862  Economy / Economics / Re: When will more retailers accept Bitcoin on: July 19, 2017, 11:46:55 PM
well i think bitcoin will accept more retailers when the bitcoin reach 5000$ per piece in that price the retailer will be hungry about bitcoin so that they accept it.
Even bitcoin will not become 5000$ they will still accept it nowadays technology chance that fast with our new developer or those inventors. There are some retailers now that accept bitcoins even the car store which is luxury they now accepting bitcoin as a payment method see the difference between the year 2014 and now maybe it will took 5 years before bitcoin will accept into regular stores.

I do believe that more and more retailers will really accept bitcoins and as you've said bitcoin will rise higher even though price will be at low instance. Those retailer will accept because of it's potential price rising capability and of it's profitability. Hopefully in my country soon, it will also be accepted by some retailers and it will be adopted at local electronic shops and computer and gadgets shops.

meh, if i were a fiat business i wouldnt be that keen on bitcoin. if you try to store it as business capital, its too volatile to plan anything on; you could lose 30% in a matter of hours, LOL. if you try to spend it, good luck; no b2b operation is going to accept bitcoin for their goods. you will have to convert it to fiat, at a fee. and still be subject to market movements. so unless you are going to accept btc as a payment method through a gateway, for fiat, it really doesnt seem worth it. also, only really helps if they have frequent, small transactions. if i had say 10 10k transactions a day (used cars), you would be better off with traditional banking methods.

and the fees.... its actually cheaper to pay mastercard/visa 30 cents a transaction...

 Sad
863  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Would you eat a human? on: July 19, 2017, 11:11:00 PM
World domination, powers and free meal!

Maybe, if there's no terrible side effects.  Grin

Some people that practiced cannibalism actually did it because they thought they could get powers from that, while others just enjoyed the taste of it..

one of my favorite movies is about this! came on scifi when I was in highschool, its been a while. let me dig.

the dude that looks like a White Katt Williams gets an assignment at a remote outpost, he hasnt been there that long and a guy wanders in from the snow telling the camp about how his caravan got trapped in the snow, and started eating each other. the Indian guide dude told the caravan  people eating was a non starter, you get something akin to vampirism (hunger for flesh, but you gain the power of the person you ate). they follow the dude into the wilderness to help him, but its a trap; he brings them to a cave and proceeds to kill and eat the party. Katt Williams escapes but breaks his leg after he falls into a pit, he ends up eating a dead dude next to him to recover. indan guy was right, he heals a broken leg in a few days and has abnormal strength. guy limps back to his outpost and tells everyone what happened, they think hes batshit. suddenly they get a new captain/commander/official at the outpost, its cannibal buddy from the cave, under a false identity. he socially engineers the protagonist into being jailed at the outpost on suspicion of murder.

shit ensues, and everyone dies except the killer and Katt Williams. they do some theatrical struggle style shit and manage to inflict mortal wounds on each other. the crazy one tells Katt "dude im so gonna eat you if you die before I do" but he dies first, and Katt decides not to continue the chain of people eatery, so he allows himself to die.

White Katt Williams chose morals over delicious, regenerative, possibly magical human flesh that would have certainly saved his life.

Make the right choice Smiley Die of starvation Wink

I agree how Ann Coulter reflects his frustration

Funny.

your avatar and flavor text are fucking hilarious, you win the day good sir.
I caught that too, but I wasnt going to say anything Wink

I will concede that she indeed purchased her seat with her particular condition in mind, and to deny here that without recompense isnt the smartest customer service policy on a per customer basis. with that being said, they were within the terms of service to make said change, and they did offer to recompense her for her troubles. By making it a deal, or at least by taking pictures of the other affected passenger, she reduced her bargaining chip, so to speak. had she been calm and righteously indignant, she could have probably profited from her misery, if not in perks than in publicity.

but to be honest, this was about publicity from the start.

and seriously though, you have a website/podcast/show and you are still flying coach? fuck being thrifty, flying is like spring break nowadays. you are gonna get groped, everything is expensive as hell and you might have to fight somebody. you gotta fly first if you can man, its Mad Max times on domestic flights Cheesy
865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fees - I Think We All Been Scammed on: July 19, 2017, 07:55:33 PM
A few months ago there was this bit craze about fees and how fees was outrageous. People were chasing fees just to send the smallest of bitcoins. Then several threads start appearing about using other currencies like LTC, ETH, DOGE, etc. I've noticed for the last 2 weeks I have been able to send btc with only a .07 cent fee tied to it and they were getting confirmed in only a few blocks. Whereas If i tried this mess a few months ago it would sit for hrs if not days. I think those behind the scene were scamming us and controlling the flow of inputs just to fu^k us over!

i think its more tied to the demand, and traffic at the given time. when there isnt a lot of competition for blocks, you can get away with a nothing fee. but with all the volatility of late, people are actually using the network, most likely to trade. its also a lame byproduct of the price getting high; when the price doubles, the min fee doubles. how do you think the fees look now to people that purchase sub 100 dollar bitcoin? they were making transactions for fractions of a cent; the difference in value is more than some people actually paid for bitcoin, in the beginning Wink

and if we had bigger blocks.....
866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin versus Illuminati on: July 19, 2017, 07:50:46 PM
Of course it is given, since they are elite and most powerful in terms of handling and ruling over moneys over the world. They have plans existed on their minds on how to manipulate their own system by innovating their own or else showing it to the entire world. Cryptocurrencies are digitalized money wherein it makes our life, or THEIR life much more easier. They had created this etherium for their own trading system.

ALright, lets define "Illuminati" Smiley

I dont believe in monolithic evil. Evil is well, evil, so Ive found when you get a lot of evil people in one place, it seems like they disagree about exactly how to be evil. Essentially, its hard for assholes to work together without butting heads; doing this with rich assholes makes the task even more daunting.  When I think of the Illuminati, I think of a bunch of rich people that want to stay rich. I cant even really be mad at that, if I was filthy rich, I would do whatever I could to ensure that my dynastic wealth passed along my bloodline to enrich the family tree. why work otherwise? but, I wouldnt be greedy; there is usually more than enough to share at the top.

I say all that to say this: the families that make up the truly economic elite (along with the CEOs, bankers, and criminal kingpins you havent heard about) wil not allow bitcoin to threaten the old way of things. the have too much at stake, and bitcoin is too small. Warren Buffet could buy up most markets, and thats one man. and hes not alone.

bitcoin will never be a threat. its too easy to control, through centralizing the mining even more by someone with deep pockets. or buying up the markets.
867  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I’ll eat myself on national TV if bitcoin doesn’t surpass $500k in 3yrs – John McAfee on: July 19, 2017, 07:42:36 PM
John McAfee, the outspoken and, at times controversial, founder of the antivirus software company which bears his name, is living up to his reputation with an outrageous online gambit on Bitcoin skyrocketing in value.
“Bitcoin's low of $1,800+ yesterday simply could not be maintained. In the long term Bitcoin moves above $500,000 within three years. Bets?” McAfee tweeted, adding that if it doesn’t: “I will eat my pe*is on national television.”

That is about as bullish a bet as one can find in the commodity markets, especially the notoriously volatile cryptocurrency trade. For perspective, McAfee is hoping for a rise of 22,636 percent in the next three years in order to save his manhood.
Bitcoin reached a high of $3,018 on June 11 but recently took a beating, dropping below $2,000 over the weekend before rebounding to over $2,300 early this week. At time of writing, it the Bitcoin price index stands at $2,384 .
The overall cryptocurrency market broke $80 billion on Tuesday, Coindesk reported.
Fundstrat's Tom Lee, known for his bearishness, has dubbed Bitcoin "the new gold," claiming that a price of $55,000 is possible by 2022.
"Cryptocurrencies are cannibalizing demand for gold," Lee wrote in an investor note cited by Business Insider. "Bitcoin is arguably becoming a scarcer store of value. Investors need to identify strategies to leverage this potential rise in cryptocurrencies.”

McAfee's new company, MGTI, has positioned itself as North America's largest bitcoin miner and is expanding operations into other cryptocurrencies.

McAfee challenged all takers with outlandish bets, complete with a minimum buy-in of $100,000 to be held in escrow, reports iBankCoin .
Bitcoin, Ether and XRP all grew by more than 10 percent in one day with Ether crossing the $200 mark for the first time since July 14.
The all-time high for the market was $115 billion set back in the middle of June.

this, is comedy gold.

even the link is golden: mcafee-penis-bitcoin-price. Google must have had a field day with this one.

but i dont want to see mcafee eat his penis, however. it feels odd to type penis on this forum, this just doesnt usually make it to my bitcoin newsfeed, LOL.

but what I do think his statement implies is that he may have some insider information about the market that makes it such a sure bet. ill be good and goddammed if i bet my penis on anything, so I imagine his confidence level must be off the charts, so to speak Smiley

might be a gem of wisdom here. if you can get past the all the penis-eatery.

and this should be on payperview, if thats still a thing.
868  Other / Off-topic / Re: Job Vs Bitcoin on: July 19, 2017, 07:35:14 PM
Hi, I was wondering if I should quit my job and focus more on bitcoins? Because I think it might get me even richer without a job?  Grin

it not job vs bitcoin. its job = bitcoin Smiley

lets face it. unless you program, its really not that easy to get paid in bitcoin. trust me on this. the amounts of bitcoin you would get on the interwebz usually amount to a hill of beans, with the exception of the better sig campaigns. you can store some serious value with a mature account, but it takes years to mature and account to said level Sad so, the best way to buy bitcoin is to have a job Smiley the steady income will ensure that you dont have to spend your hard earned bitcoin on food and gas, and rent. we all have bills and shit, at least i do. focus on the bills first; bitcoin is money, and money only works when you can actually keep it Wink

or, you could sell drugs. reserve the right to sell drugs.
869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do Banks fear cryptocurrency on: July 19, 2017, 07:28:10 PM
I don't know why banks would afraid of bitcoin, it can't ruined them as the institute. I suppose Albanian bank was saying so about crypto-currencies in that sense, that it's high risk investment and with investing of big money in any of crypto you can loose everything. Just remind how many shitcoins and scam ICOs on the market today, they just can't pump all, only 2-3% among this projects can bring real profit.

Exactly. The respective governments of said banks simply wouldnt allow bitcoin to threaten the status quo. Banks are the gateways between ACH electro dollars and real, cold hard cash. The fiat of a nation is its lifeline; anything that threatens that fiat or the institutions that traffic in it is a non starter. if bitcoin ever starts to cause capital flight in say, the United States, they will regulate bitcoin into ash.

Bitcoin is cool and all, but if bitcoin ever threatens what the financial elite have put into place; well, that will be the end of it.
870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if, we advertise bitcoin on T.V.? on: July 19, 2017, 07:21:18 PM
The question is who exactly will be covering the cost of the advertisement? collectively making a fund raise for the ad, or some company paying for it?
Rather than advertising for bitcoin itself, a bitcoin company, advertising itself and bitcoin indirectly seems more reasonable.

I dont know, maybe the Bitcoin Foundation can pay for it? They should have a small fortune in member donations, before bitcoin went to the moon. Shouldnt be that hard to land a commercial every now and again, or maybe more sponsorships like the Bitcoin Bowl thing (fiery fucking failure, LOL, i think the BitcoinBowl may have actually hurt bitcoin a bit Wink

im not mad though. bitcoin, even at this price, is still bleeding edge, esp some of the 10 ten traded alts that are sub 300 (I wont name names). as long as people dont know about it, the price wont skyrocket, and I can keep hording until im money bags style rich. its on my bucket list Smiley

so, actually, shh.
871  Other / Off-topic / Re: Young people should go all in on bitcoin on: July 19, 2017, 02:56:37 PM
I think crypto currency world is open for all the generations worldwide, it is not only specialized for the young people, despite this people are actually the most users of crypto currencies for many reasons, but still many old people using and trading crypto currencies as well.

Agree. Bitcoin offers opportunity for waay more than just the kids; bitcoin can do more for the unbanked of the world. It's cool to encourage kids to save; but saving bitcoin is essentially speculation. Better to buy for the kids, or have the kids buy for themselves, something with less volatility like gold, or simply holding Fiat. And they should diversify; never good to put all of one's eggs in a single basket, you get my drift? Wink
872  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin vs Taxes on: July 19, 2017, 02:32:08 PM
Most of countries consider Bitcoin as an asset or intangible property ( as by IRS ). Bitcoin's treatment as an asset makes the tax implication clear. However, taxation on bitcoins and its reporting is not as simple as it seems. For starters, it is difficult to determine the fair value of the bitcoin on purchase and sale transactions. Frequent traders and investors could use "first in, first out" (FIFO) or "last in, first out" (LIFO) accounting techniques to reduce tax obligations.

Well it's complicated but I think the best way to include taxes on Bitcoin transactions would be to add them up to the miner fees and charge them per each transaction that moves over the blockchain but I don't know how practical this could be since we are all not living in the same country and our laws regarding taxes might vary.
Miner fees are much better than taxes. As you know government taxes are more than miner fees. So it is better that bitcoin is taking fees on transactions etc by miners. I would prefer that miner’s fees are much better than taxes. Taxes would decrease the demand of bitcoin in a market. If there is no demand how bitcoin will run?

Well bitcoin kinda is already taxed, but only for US citizens, and only after you convert it to a Fiat currency. So we kinda have to deal with the high fee situation and the capital gains tax situation, but I will concede that most likely, virtually no one is paying proper bitcoin tax. I  use the Shift card that Coinbase offers; I'm subject to sales tax on my bitcoin purchases, which is interesting.
873  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Good bye delta airlines... on: July 19, 2017, 02:22:12 PM
Surprised she's even flying in coach.  Not a big deal to me, but Delta should have asked instead of telling her.

I've had really good service from KLM/Delta.  I needed to switch a flight last minute and it wasn't possible given the no frills ticket I purchased.  Delta switched my flight and waived the fee completely without me even asking.

Yeah, I don't know why this even made the news. At first I thought she had purchased a seat additionally, to make a space around herself. But now I understand she simply was switched seats at the last minute. It used to happen to me ALL THE TIME, specifically when I would buy a last minute ticker home during the holidays. it's really not a big deal.

She acted like a spoiled brat in this;  despite how she felt, not really fair to post the pictures of the passengers and crew like that. And then to make it political seems a stretch; had they been aware of who she was, they would have probably asked someone else. She isn't that recognizable, to me at least; id have to hear her voice to recognize her.
874  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you sell your BitcoinCash on August 1st if there is a HF? on: July 18, 2017, 11:27:12 PM
i am dropping all bitcoin assets like a hot potato, if for some reason I am actually holding any crypto at that point except USDT. The reason? Along with myself, others will attempt to capture as much guaranteed value from the forks, knowing that the market will dip as a majority takes profit. it will  most likely come back up, some of the forks at least, but this will be the trading opportunity of a lifetime. its gonna be like Superbowl and Christmas rolled into the 4th of freakin July.

also assuming other markets will dip as they usually do, if btc retreats.

There won't be any chain split on August 1st. Segwit should be a done deal before that and BIP 148 will be an irrelevance. As will this most likely.

I for one wouldn't be out of Bitcoin on that day and if you are you won't have any Bitcoin Cash to play with either unless you, like, buy it.

but i am skepical of holding btc at this moment, brosephalus, and i will be candid. i will have to store on a private wallet; when the dust settles, all of the speculators will rush to deposit, sloging everything down like an eth ico. i seriously want to capture peak value; even if im not holding btc, i understand this is a highly profitable scenario if i trade with discipline. im figuring holding tether is smart because im at least pegged to USD; when the shit goes live and the whistle blows, i want to be able to buy immediately if it trends up, or cackle and set a shit bid for when it bottoms. i rely on my intuition by absorbing the market sentiment on this forum, reddit, and my convos with fellow traders. i even lurk trollboxes for scoops. i cant read this man, and it makes me nervous.

and i like free money, dammit. torn about this, man.

875  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How Long Does Liqui.io Take To Touch A Support Ticket Usually? on: July 18, 2017, 09:35:14 PM
Hey dudes, Green here. Anyone have experience with getting issues resolved on the liqui.io platform? I did a dumb thing with a deposit and sent a ticket to support a few days ago, but I havent even gotten an initial response. Nor have I gotten a response from the telegram support agent, or by PMing Liqui's account here on the forum. Its about 4 hours shy of 6 days since I sent the ticket with no response Sad was going to wait a week, but meh, whats a day at this point, LOL Cheesy

i sent eth to an adx address, btw  Cry the withdrawal page is indicating to me that im probably not going to get my money back, the warning is clearly posted, but I was hoping someone would do me a solid and simply move the funds to my account balance, the proper wallet, or return them to me (its 1.5 eth). I figure they have the keys to their wallets, I hope so at least, LOL, so it should be a relatively easy function for an admin to execute. I want to see if they keep the funds simply because they can; truth be told I dont have recourse, I didnt heed the warning Sad well, in time at least. kids, turn autocomplete off, dont do what I did Wink

To their credit, the funds are still sitting in the token wallet, unmoved. they dont seem to have a sweep/ hotwallet forwarding daemon for the token wallets. i legitimately think they simply havent gotten to me yet, but we will see how this turns out.

so the question was, is this normal for liqui? site says typical 24 hour turnaround, almost at a week now. is this par for the course, or am I being ignored?

You obviously saw the warnings but either by omission or error the mistake happen in which I feel that's what they saw and decide to ignore your claim and focus more on others that have some more pertinent issues. The only thing you can do here is to wait until they find a reason to answer you and because its not a fault on their own part but yours. Hopefully you get your money back when they respond.

you are absolutely correct. but it will look kind of bad if they can move the funds for themselves, but cannot move the funds for a customer, no? do you think an exchange should get 300 USD for a user error that does not affect platform operation, and requires less than 300 usd worth of effort to fix? I surely hope this isnt the case. and, im disapointed Liqui didnt respond to my PM on the forum. he/she has been active for several days since i sent my pm, its odd it was missed.

at the very least, having been the lead customer support for CEX for a few years, I can say that you should take the time to reply to a ticket, even if you cant resolve the issue Wink a no is alot better than a nothing Wink

Bitcoin Namecoin Litecoin Dogecoin Merged Mining Pool

It sells a 1tb SSD drive for 2k$. Says it has a merged mining pool for bitcoin/namecoin/litecoin/dogecoin. What does it mean? Is it Legit?

Also they sell Avalon 741's for 1.2k$.

Considering to buy one nowadays but don't want to get scammed.

I found their user acc which is never used: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=525734
Found their official topic but it was moved and It doesn't exist there neither: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1097497.0
And found this topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1783219.0

Not convinced much. Any real user experience?

let this one ride, brother. i tried to do diligence for you and couldnt; those are my historical warning signs for bad bad not good in the crypto world.

i think they are selling the drive as a "setup your own pool at home" kit. they are encouraging you to point workers at it; i guess this is for the peeps that dont really trust pools like that, LOL. i dont tend to fuck with things that havent been recommended to me by a trusted, you are probably of the same mind. id go with that on this Wink opportunity cost is too great if you get fleeced.

I am sorry man,but this isn't AML/KYC procedure. My fund amount is way to low for something suspicious, only 0.13 bitcoins. They send me an email after i have spam my issue in every forum i can. This is not fiat money,it is cryptocurrency and hasn't any restrictions from any requlation or country. They just keep my bitcoins without any reason.I have send them the documents that they wanted. They are extremely slow and unreliable. Why they don't have a phone number in order to contact with them or why they don't call me in order to solve my problem. They are totally useless, maybe there is only one man company.I am 1000% confident that i can have a better service alone in my house than them.

This is odd, thats not enough to set of the AML questions you just received. You would need 2500 USD equiv daily withdrawal trafic, or a net account balance of 10k or over, as far as US reporting requirements. They are essentially the same as a bank in this. Dont answer this out loud, but consider if you have had legal trouble connect to finance, or have had your identity compromised in a way in the past that might make a blip on your credit/financial history. otherwise, yes, they are probably jerking you around a bit, and you WILL comply before they release these funds.

you might not like the taste of it, and i understand, but your easiest recourse will be to reply to the inquiry.
879  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin and Ethereum co-exist? on: July 18, 2017, 06:52:22 PM
eah already are doing isn’t? I think they can very much co-exist and not just these too. I completely believe that down the line in next 3-4 years, I will be 10-15 Crypto Currencies that will be fighting for the top spot, so they all will co-exist and there is no reason why they can’t. The market is so big that it’s easy.

The real question should be, can altcoins co exist with bitcoin because bitcoin will be always here. Bitcoin has better support, a bigger community and a very active one. Altcoins including Ethereum are usually pump and dump coins, sure someone can make money with them by buying low and selling high because those have even higher volatility than bitcoin, but that's it, they are not as mainstream as bitcoin so their long life existence is not guaranteed compared to bitcoin.

i think the most efficient purpose of each coin will become evident; to me that is ETH being more transactional with bitcoin being a longer term, stable store of value. once we get more mature investors in the space, the price wont be quite so volatile. perhaps bitcoin will truly mature into a digital gold, the volatility now of all alts makes it anything but. unless you brought in so early on a coin that you will be in profit no matter what, you cant plan long terms savings goals with bitcoin; too easy to underestimate because of a price retraction, or waste time and overestimate because the price surged.

Why would I do that?

same thought as i, only a moron would sell because he fear the crash, but if he mean selling to buy back that is a good move in this market now, i find that this hard fork can contribute to the bitcoin price instead of destroying the value, i'm waiting for the next pump again

This thread refers to Bitcoin Cash, not Bitcoin. You're getting it whether you like it or not on August 1st. What will you do with it?
