901  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: MakeBTC.org Pyramid Scheme - VERIFIED SCAM on: February 02, 2014, 08:39:33 PM
We are going to see a lot of signing up & deposits starting Friday when makeBTC will start being advertised here so it should at least be entertaining&fun to watch, I deposited 0.2 and cashed out 0.02 so far so I have a long way to go  Smiley

Was he successful in winning the advert auction?
902  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can you recommend some official escrow services? on: February 02, 2014, 08:37:27 PM
That John John K guy is good but takes REALLY LONG TO PROCESS ESCROWS....

John K regularly goes MIA apparently so I'd advise against using him.

What does MIA means?

Beeing an escrow must be a pretty nice job! You help people and get some fees without much risks

Apparently : "2nd         28         0         0         266         19.90         escrow.ms         Bitcoin         N/A         Free "

seems like a good choice : second in the classement made by squall1066 and free

Missing in Action.
903  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gambled away my tuition bitcoins on: February 02, 2014, 08:36:01 PM
What a funny thing that you talk about gambling and saying how bad it is and at the same time you have those online casinos adverts in your signatures Cheesy

Gamble responsibly  Wink.

As others have said, consider this a life lesson and the tuition was cheap. If it takes you a lifetime to re-learn this lesson it will be costly.

You're young, mistakes are part of the deal.

Well, it's only a life lesson if he learns from it. Unfortunately if he is addicted then this probably wont be the last of it.
904  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ALL SET! A Bitcoin-themed banner WILL be present at Super Bowl XLVIII. on: February 02, 2014, 08:33:49 PM
Thanks, Bitcoinwunder. You da man! BTW, all, Bitcoinwunder is the one that created the graphic, placing all the design elements in place via my instructions without a hitch. He's a good guy, to boot.

Well I hope you guys are successful, even if this is a nuts idea. I'll be watching as much as I can of the superbowl to see if I can spot it, but it doesn't finish till 3AM over here and I have work in the morning  Cry.
905  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: "You already posted that" "Your last post was less than 360 seconds ago" on: February 02, 2014, 08:28:43 PM
I get this every time I log in.  I know it has been at least 8 hours since I posted last, but I get this error.  I also know no-one else is using my ip, so it is a bug.  It is annoying.

It's not a bug. Logging in counts so you have to wait 6 minutes before you post.
906  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are refurbished computers from big retailers secure? on: February 02, 2014, 08:27:09 PM

Im looking at buying a refurbished laptop from argos UK, im pretty sure they data wipe everything, i will be storing some bitcoins on it.

Should i just pay more and get a new laptop which has never been used or can i trust their data wipe?

They should essentially be brand new within that respect as they will have been reset to factory settings or had a complete reformatting, but what I'd suggest doing is using an ubuntu live CD and keeping your Bitcoins on there for extra safety.
907  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ive Been using faucets for weeks and im yet to receive a single Satoshi...Why? on: February 02, 2014, 08:24:55 PM
you have nice threads here on forum. if you let other to use you signature space you can earn 0.01 -0.02 btc per month. all you need is to post to this forum.

Some people get a hell of a lot more than that. You can get up to 0.8BTC from Primedice.

910  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ATTENTION NEWBIES: ALT COIN WARNINGS on: February 02, 2014, 06:03:43 PM

How much have you given away now?
911  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: MakeBTC.org Pyramid Scheme on: February 02, 2014, 06:03:04 PM
Speaking solely for myself, a small, early investor, all of my actions have been recorded properly and I have received my withdrawals as advertised. I have recouped my initial investment and am playing with the house's money, again public record.

I read with concern with beetje2207 and opnoskatt's comments about receipt of shares sold. That said, I wait with interest to read MakeBTC's response, if any. There is usually more to the story and my analysis needs the depth to go along with the length and width. Experience tells me plenty is missing from this specific discussion.

Personally, I find it of concern that beetje2207 and opnoskatt cashiered the bulk of their positions all at immediately as a new process was instituted. In fairness, more so beetje2207 as he had the larger position, thus more to lose. While they are entitled to their analysis and investing style as am I, collectively redistributing over than 13 of a 15 BTC bank in a matched pair of moves is a dicey move especially with new changes in the production software. Using the same percentages would close most hedge funds much less a small project like this. In perspective, 2 of 175 investors made the biggest move. That is a red flag to me.

My personal style would have been 1 or 2 BTC the first bank increasing over the next several banks, spreading the hit out a bit while more importantly ensuring proper operation of the new process prior to entrusting a larger sum to it. But that's my caution speaking.

I also watched with amusement where beetje2207 subsequently reinvested and received a bonus from himself, a move I'm sure was not contemplated by the developers. An easy enough fix  when thought about but easily not anticipated in advance. C'est la vie. At the time, my analysis was he wanted to stop out his liquidation and remain at a lower level. Comments in this thread change that analysis with additional information.

As for me, I plan to monitor the project for potential future profits as well as this board for entertainment along the way.

beetje27, it's probably best to ignore jmalec; it's very likely an alt-account for makebtc trying to drum up business from an "outside source" by discrediting legitimate users.

Yeah, bit fishy when they sign up just to post that lol
912  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much longer will Mt.Gox exist before they´re out of business? on: February 02, 2014, 06:01:50 PM
I heard its all going really well and they plan in integrate litecoin Cheesy

Ha, I wonder if that ever will actually happen. I'm sure they realised there's not much point now.
913  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ATTENTION NEWBIES: ALT COIN WARNINGS on: February 02, 2014, 05:31:46 PM
litecoin is good

Litecoin is a good one to invest in as it was unique but all the new alt coins should be ignored because most are scams.

I invest in ltc, but its a risky investment. It fluctuates so dramatically which should not happen for a coin as storied/old as ltc.

Seems to have been quite steady to me. They really need some merchants behind it for it to lift off. All it's got going for it at the moment is playing second fiddle to Bitcoin.
914  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ive Been using faucets for weeks and im yet to receive a single Satoshi...Why? on: February 02, 2014, 05:29:45 PM
There was a faucet that you got 300 satoshis for filling out a captcha every so often whilst streaming radio stations. I listened to it all day and got 0.00014 lol. Lesson learned.
915  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: FBI sell-off may not be so bad for Bitcoin on: February 02, 2014, 05:27:34 PM
Depends how how and who they sell them to. Could be good publicity for Bitcoin if it gets a lot of media attention.
916  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][MAX] MaxCoin on: February 02, 2014, 05:08:08 PM
I know absolutely nothing about mining or the technical side of crypto currency.

I have BTC and love what it can hopefully achieve.

Can anybody offer an explanation of the point of all these alt coins?  Do these new coins compliment BTC, are they superior in some way, or is it competition?

Would it not be far better to pooling all knowledge and making BTC achieve greater things, considering it is still very young.

Surely, getting the general masses to adopt BTC is a mammoth task, having all these other coins offering whatever it is they have would totally confuse anyone not familiar with crypto currencies.

I am confused.   Do we really need hundreds of crypto currencies this early?

Well most are just made to pump and dump and make a quick profit on. Nothing more nothing less.

Still confused.

What is the point of "pump & dump"?

Surely the whole exercise is to achieve global adoption.  The vast majority are not interested in what you describe.

Newbs and people who want to make a quick profit care. They don't give a shit about cryptocurrency or what it can achieve or represent, they just want to get rich quick.

The QR code is blocked by a helmet so its not usable to send money to right?

Scan it and find out. I've seen other QR codes with things in the middle that worked.
918  Other / Off-topic / Re: Silkroad 2.0 on: February 02, 2014, 04:58:56 PM
Anyone know any Silk Road alternative sites that accept other currencies? I know Sheep had LTC but that went bye-bye.

http://www.reddit.com/r/DarkNetMarkets Not sure what ones take alts but I'm sure there's some.

None of those links seem to be working.

You are using TOR right?

Yeah, seems The Marketplace & BlueSky Marketplace wont load for me. SR does, and I got Agora Market to load but says you need an invite or something.

I do not like it one bit, takes too long.

What alternatives do you use?
