901  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★ DigiByte ★★ [DGB] ✈ ✔ MultiAlgo v3.0.1 officially released! Mandatory Update! on: September 22, 2014, 07:58:54 AM
DigiByte is disabled again on Bittrex. Is the dev team in contact with Bittrex to help them solve their problem and get DGB activated asap?
It is in the best interests of DigiByte to be activated on Bittrex again soonest possible.

Our wallets keep going into safe mode ... Anyone know whats going on?

Thanks,
richie
Does anyone know the best email to contact them? We have not heard back from our request on Twitter on private messaging. We would like to get the technical details of the error they are requesting. Is anyone else having issues with the wallet going into safe mode?

This is very interesting & brings up so very interesting questions. Overall we made several new contacts at the expo & we introduced DigiByte to many new people.

The conference itself was unorganized & experienced several technical problems. It could have been managed much better. However, the quality of attendees was very good. The majority were Chinese & we gained some valuable insight in to how Chinese people not only tend to use Bitcoin, but how they view it.

The Chinese tend to think of Bitcoin & Digital Currencies almost like gambling or the lottery. It will either be worth a lot or nothing. They also seem to view it as a way to move money outside of China to other countries for investments or for travel. As banking fees are pretty cheap & transactions are fast already in China there is not the motivation for fee reductions like you see in the US & Europe.

The DigiByte website is back online! We had to contact tech support at our hosting provider to have them manually restart the server. We apologize for the downtime.

We just wanted to say hello to everyone from the BTC Expo in Shanghai! We have been making some excellent contacts to help bring DigiByte into the Chinese & Asian markets!

There are people from all over the world, but the majority of attendees are Chinese. We have gained some very important insight into not only how Bitcoin & Digital Currencies are being regulated in China but how people here are utilizing them. There is no doubt Chinese mining & purchasing power is the most dominant force in the crypto market at the moment.

Most people here feel the recent dip in Bitcoin's price can be attributed to Chinese investors sending BTC to brokers oversees to buy into the Alibaba IPO. Which was a smart move on their end as the initial price was set at $68 and momentarily hit $97 yesterday. This is a very powerful indicator as to how close Wall Street and Digital Currencies are becoming.

If you are here please say hello! Otherwise, we will keep everyone updated & will report any major events or announcements!

24 Hr,

Thank you very much for taking the time to do this! We will get some changes posted!

Hi Digibyte,
A couple of days ago you asked us what is missing in the Top beginning Digibyte thread.
I had some spare time and added some things like exchanges,information about Digishield and some other things the community mentioned before and needed to be changed.

Offcourse there are some things you need to adjust.

I'm also asking the community to take a read and mention things what needs to be changed/added.

Hoping to take some weight off youre shoulders and GO kick some ass in the expo.

Edit: Working on the Dutch version.  Wow that takes some time  Shocked

What is DigiByte?

DigiByte (DGB) is a rapidly growing world-wide professional decentralized payment network, inspired by Bitcoin. DigiByte allows you to move money over the internet similar to PayPal & Western Union but with many improvements, including lightning fast transactions with minimal or no fees. You send & receive DigiBytes to or from any DigiByte address in the world in a matter of seconds with no required sign up, registration, or hidden fees.

Mission Statement

The mission of DigiByte is to bring the benefits of blockchain payment technology to merchants, consumers, & mainstream societies across the globe in the most easy to understand way possible.

Vision Statement

We envision DigiByte becoming a professional decentralized payment network used by millions of people across the planet to quickly & easily buy and sell good & services over the internet, in store, or person-to-person with little to no fees.

Why DigiByte?
  • Professional & dedicated development team since launch on Jan. January 10th 2014.
  • First coin to fork to multi-algorithm mining that respects and values all existing mining technologies.
    Significantly mitigated 51% attack vulnerability thanks to the 5 unique algos & independent difficulties.
  • First coin to develop & implement DigiShield (asymmetrical difficulty adjustment).
  • 30 second blocks make for much faster merchants transactions.
  • Strategic long term road-map & vision alongside pending global corporate partnerships.
  • 1:1000 ratio with Bitcoin is more intuitive and user friendly for micro transactions.
  • Small initial premine that was given away to users & charity and used for initial development.

How to use and install Digibyte.

What is DigiShield & How it Works to Retarget Difficulty

DigiShield re-targets a coin’s difficulty to protect against multi-pools and an over-inflation of easily mined new coins. DigiShield was originally developed for DigiByte, but has since been implemented into Dogecoin and will soon be implemented into more coins.  DigiShield re-targets a coin’s difficulty between every block or in the case of DigiByte & Dogecoin, every 60 seconds.

In summary DigiShield is a balanced asymmetrical approach to difficulty re-targeting. You don't want to let the difficulty go too high too fast, but you need to give it enough room to catch up quickly. The same thing goes with down swings, since it takes longer to discover new blocks you need to give it more room to go down, but not enough to send it to the floor. DigiShield is by no means the absolute "perfect" solution to the multi pool/ difficulty problem, but after testing dozens of different setups over a five day period including KGW and the Earthcoin approach, the current ratios/ settings in DigiShield out performed any other solution available at the moment.

Digibyte roadmap

The Four Phases of Crypto Currency Technology Adoption

Phase 1 (2009-2012): Initial creation & Development of crypto technology that laid out the foundation for DigiByte to be created upon.
Phase 2 (2013-Present): Adoption within small “theme” based tech communities on the internet. We believe we are now approaching the end of this phase and the current production of “meme” theme based coins will begin to dwindle or be pushed to the side. DigiByte was conceptualized & launched during this phase.
Phase 3 (Late 2013 – Mid 2014): Sophisticated & Institutional Investors come on board. This is the phase we are excited for and are currently working to market ourselves toward. DigiByte will excel here as investors look to a promising coin with long term potential.
Phase 4 (Mid 2014-2015): Main stream adoption by the average consumer to purchase goods & services. DigiByte will rise to dominance.

Major DigiByte Goals Next  6-12 Months

Develop Digi-Pay & Merchant API tools. We want to make DigiByte a very simple & cost effective payment method for merchants to adopt. Think of Digi-Pay as a hybrid cross between CoinBase and BitPay.
To become a bridge for the average consumer into crypto technology. We want to make DigiByte as simple and as easy to understand as possible. We want to provide people with all the materials they need to quickly adopt and understand the crypto technology underlying DigiByte.
Reach out to lawmakers, regulators, financial industry leaders and become a vocal cooperative voice to further crypto technology and DigiByte.

Upcoming DigiByte Milestones Next 3 Months

Promote and explain DigiShield in much better detail.
Develop an easy to understand DigiByte promo video.
Develop easy to understand marketing materials for the average consumer.
Promote and participate in AGX.io launch.
Attend the Crypto Convention in New York. This will be a huge boost for us and we look forward to cementing many face to face relationships with other crypto leaders and investors.
Approach Bitpay & Coinbase about adding DigiByte as a payment system.
Approach/Pitch DigiByte to Overstock.com, TigerDirect.com and a few other large retailers.
Begin sending informative, easy to understand informational packets to politicians, regulators and financial industry leaders describing how DigiByte and crypto technology is beneficial.

Code Development Goals Next 3 Months

Update DigiByte to latest Bitcoin client code. ✔
Develop Multi-Algorithim approach to allow everyone to mine DigiByte. ✔
Develop light version of wallet for speed.
Reasearch btcd, a full node bitcoin implementation in the Go language, by conformal systems (https://opensource.conformal.com/wiki/btcd) and investigate migrating btcd into the DigiByte ecosystem.

Why did DigiByte switch to Multi-Algo mining?

1) To update DigiShield and speed the blockchain back up to normal.
2) It is the most fair POW mining option out there (embraces ASICs & GPU miners alike on an even playing field).
3) More secure than a single POW mining scheme (much harder to 51% attack).
4) Speed block timing up to 30 seconds to facilitate faster merchant transactions (ties in with DigiPay LLC development).
5) Tap into used Bitcoin ASIC miners market. (Use those old ASICS to help secure the DGB blockchain)

If you can think of another reason multi-POW is better, let us know!

Coin Facts

21 Billion Total Coins | 30 Second Blocks (2.5 Min per Algo) | 8,000 DGB Reward, Reduces 0.5% Every 10,080 blocks |0.5 % Pre-Mine (0%) | MultiAlgo, POW | 2.5 Min Re-target (Each algo, averages previous 10 blocks) Note: We are now a 0% pre-mine as the entire pre-mine has been given away or used for development.

Introducing the official mascot of DigiByte

The DigiMan

906  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★ DigiByte ★★ [DGB] ✈ ✔ MultiAlgo v3.0.1 officially released! Mandatory Update! on: September 16, 2014, 09:58:58 AM
★★ DigiByte v3.0.2 Coming Soon!★★

We have decided to release a version 3.0.2 wallet after the BTC China expo. This wallet will feature two main changes and will require mining pools to update:

1) A standardized Chinese name for "DigiByte" in the DGB wallet. We will be asking several native Chinese speakers at the conference what the proper translation for "DigiByte" into Chinese characters should be. Once we decide on the correct characters we will put it into the wallet. This will dramatically help DigiByte enter the Chinese market place.

2) We will be issuing a fix for the Scrypt block issue as well as the daemon rejection issue several pools are experiencing. In the mean time we would like some feedback & help testing this fix. A big shout-out to Thrassos for pointing this out and helping us figure out this issue!

The Scrypt block & daemon rejection issue:
Scrypt blocks are being rejected do to this code: "if (block.nVersion < 2)"
https://github.com/digibyte/DigiByteProject/blob/1dda53450ca9b2d0aad767007f01f12578b7f39e/src/main.cpp#L2576
Code:
      // Reject block.nVersion=1 blocks when 95% (75% on testnet) of the network has upgraded:
        if (block.nVersion < 2)
        {
            if ((!TestNet() && CBlockIndex::IsSuperMajority(2, pindexPrev, 950, 1000)) ||
                (TestNet() && CBlockIndex::IsSuperMajority(2, pindexPrev, 75, 100)))
            {
                return state.Invalid(error("AcceptBlock() : rejected nVersion=1 block"),
                                     REJECT_OBSOLETE, "bad-version");
            }
        }

The fix should be simple by changing BLOCK_VERSION_DEFAULT from 1-2. If anyone knows of any issues we might see with this please let us know.
https://github.com/digibyte/DigiByteProject/blob/master/src/core.h#L30
Code:
{
    // primary version
    BLOCK_VERSION_DEFAULT        = 2,

    // algo
    BLOCK_VERSION_ALGO           = (7 << 9),
    BLOCK_VERSION_SHA256D        = (1 << 9),
    BLOCK_VERSION_GROESTL        = (2 << 9),
    BLOCK_VERSION_SKEIN          = (3 << 9),
    BLOCK_VERSION_QUBIT          = (4 << 9),
};

The github account has been updated with this change. If we could get some mining pools to test this change & report back it would be much appreciated! Thank you all!

@Digibyte, How are you attending the expo?
Is it possible to do a give away?  Maybe you could create a wallet so we could donate and then make a sort of "to-do list" to get the free digilove?

-Make a picture of the Digibyte stand.
-Get a tweet out mentioning Digibyte.
-Say hi at this thread with youre tweet in it.

Receive free Digibyte.

Make a bonus reward for the one with the best/most funny/creative picture.

Just some thinking.

24hr,

A giveaway is a great idea! At this point since the Android wallet is not completed (speaking of which, does anyone know any good Android developers, we have now not had contact with our Android dev for a month) we will have to use a desktop wallet. We will be making tweets during the event and will provide feedback to everyone here.

At the China BTC expo we will not have a booth and we will not be speaking but we will be walking around networking as well as handing out DigiByte stickers. We really want to get a feel for how to best enter the Chinese marketplace as it is the largest. This will be the first major event in China.

We will be speaking at & attending the B2B Congress in Brussels on October 17th. So we are very excited to make some great European contacts there as well: http://btc2b.com/

We have also received word that the London October 22nd crypto currency convention has been canceled so we will not be attending that one: http://www.cryptocurrencyconvention.com/london/

Interesting trading pairs at this upcoming exchange.

https://altmarket.com/about

That's Blocktech's exchange - Bryce Weiner, Devon Reed, all of 'em - hence why Razor and Dirac are the trading pairs and Unobtainium is there.. for..  who knows why.

I got the chance to sit down with Bryce at Cryptolina a few weeks ago. He has some crazy ideas about the future of crypto.. or really, blockchains in general. Bryce is so far out ahead that either he's flatly brilliant or is going to completely miss the bus the next time the crypto world takes a sharp left turn. (Recreating the NYSE in miniature on AltMarket was one, basing coins on stock prices somehow. Using a blockchain to power a world-wide organized play tabletop RPG event was another, just to give you the scope of what we're talking about here.) I tend towards the 'brilliant' option but the proof will be in the proverbial pudding of course.

Bryce also has a GIANT Digibyte sticker on his laptop. He and the DGB dev team have some connections, apparently, which is why DGB is on this exchange and when Jared is all cryptic about developments I'm likely to give him the benefit of the doubt.
We have had some excellent conversations with Bryce. Both in New York & over personal messaging. He has some excellent ideas & he is 110% devoted to the future of crypto currencies & making some innovative ideas come to fruition. We are happy to see these trading pairs!

Bittrex has activated all wallets again, except the DigiByte wallet. Do the devs have any information what is wrong?

Have you asked them on twitter?
Have you opened a support ticket?

We can do these things as well to help out. Smiley

I just opened a support ticket and I'll update the thread when they pass on the information. Smiley

Just found this under site status for the Digibyte wallet

Blockchain stuck - awaiting dev fix

Hmmm, we are still finding blocks aren't we??

We have found no issue on our end. The chain is working as expected. We have contacted them directly. They responded a couple times but have not responded to our last messages. They need to restart their wallet.

We just checked our seed nodes & the block explorers. They are all showing the same block & the same chain. All appears to be well there.

Could you please contact Bittrex? They have disabled DGB.
We just contacted them & will report when we find out what the issue is. Thanks for the heads up!

Today I had to restart all my wallets (4, on different locations).
All had this error : "Warning: The network does not appear to fully agree! Some miners appear to be experiencing issues.". After the restart, everything is ok.
This is good to know. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? We have not ran into it yet ourselves. As to Bittrex we do not have any account there so we will have to sign up to check it out.

Today DGB is disabled on Bittrex. It says "Blockchain issues under investigation". I feel a bit fooled by the information provided in this ANN. Bought a lot of DGB trusting on the information given, and now DGB is disabled on Bittrex.

Do you have a link to more information about this? This is the first we have heard about it.

I'm waiting for scrypt mining to kick in... My ASIC isn't doing too much at the moment  Cheesy

I know, it's been 6 days without a Scrypt block...I wish they would definitively say whether or not it is a difficulty issue. If so, then people might start aiming at scrypt to try and push it along.
This does look like the hash just dropped very low. Lets try aiming a bit of hash at Scrypt to push it along.

It is great to see DGB having some moves Smiley lovely Smiley
This was great to see after being without internet service for a couple days! We want to let everyone know things are progressing very well for DigiByte worldwide & we are working very hard to get things done. We are filtering through messages and working to reply to everyone. Good things are going to happen over the next couple months! Smiley
