921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO]MANDATORY UPGRADE!Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 31, 2014, 11:50:46 PM
I am trying to compile wolf's miner On my linux box (64 bit CentOS 6.5) with no luck so far.

Any hints about how to compile this miner on CentOS?

I am also trying to compile Luca's one on CentOS but with no luck. When i try to run minerd it just stops saying illegal instruction. If you find a solution please tell me...

In case jap1968 havent solved the problem, or for anyone else, all i had to do was to upgrade my gcc. Thanks Wolf that told me Smiley

Anybody an idea how to make Mount again popular

Yes i have an idea. Make an innovation. Or just kill the coin if it has nothing innovative... There is zero, null, nada reason for someone to care about it when it has nothing new to offer...

Wow, guys. This looks pretty amazing. You should spend all your money on Monero!

After reading this article i realized that monero is a real BCN killer.

Seriously we dont need fake accounts posting good things about monero...
926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: May 30, 2014, 10:07:27 PM

There have been plenty of sound cases put forward as all taxes forced by coercion being inherently evil.  ...  specialization led to abundance, then the parasite class and taxes formed to exploit that, and here we are today.  Paying taxes isn't a patriotic duty, it's you voting towards supporting that particular ideology.

Only a valid point in the case of kleptocracies that don't provide basic services in exchange for the tax money.  There are countries where they pay taxes just like we do in the first world (or even more heavily in proportion) but don't even get clean water or basic road maintenance for their money, and yes, in that case I could talk about a "parasite class" and the "exploitation" of people via taxes.

For the rest of us?  Naaah, I don't think so.  Government adminstrative overhead isn't substantially worse than the sum total of corporate administrative overhead and stockholder profit taking.  By and large, I think most of us get our money's worth.

Describing Greece right now Cheesy We are paying more taxes than average Europe i think but education, health system, infrastructure, pensions etc are getting shitier by the day
927  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [duck] duckNote [ANN]. CryptoNote based. on: May 30, 2014, 09:18:07 PM
About 45 minutes after announcement there are already 181 blocks mined. Block time is 4mins so only about 12 blocks should have been mined. I understand that it takes some time for diff to retarget so lets say 25 blocks should have mined.

Nice premine with huge blocks dev Smiley

Initial Block reward = 320 000 [duck]

like seriously?

929  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BCN] Bytecoin (CPU-mining, true anonymity) on: May 30, 2014, 08:03:22 PM
Guys, what premine? What are you talking about?
How stupid should be devs to take 80% of ALL coins? It's imposible to dump such a massive amount. It's hard to dump even 100 mil now, not 150 bil.  Even a schoolboy understands this =)

my guess is that it was just a test coin and then they just decided to get it known and  dump it for a few BTC.

Thats my favorite theory also.

It's very easy to make a clear launch and start mining new coin. Then you would be able to dump this mined coin and get much more BTC then trying to dump "80% premined coin". I think I'm doing "Economy lessons for dummies" today =)

Monero as an example I think.

Didnt they try to launch monero and with merge mining to bytecoin but their plan backfired?

I sent some Monero to my wallet yesterday before hearing about needing to update my wallet, the Monero still haven't arrived. Should I be worried? will updating my wallet fix this and have them show up?

According to IRC you'll have to wait for it to kick out of the mempool or be mined by miners on the old code, there's literally nothing you can do but wait.
I have the similar problem, sent few monero with new wallet to https://cryptonote.exchange.to/ , still haven't arrived, after over one hour, but yesterday with same wallet version everything went smooth. Maybe it is due to exchange? Luckily it is just a few monero, but hope it will show up  Grin

This exchange doesnt have automatic withdraws. He does it manually so i guess you will be fine after a few hours ...

We want that this Coin is successful
[/quote]

Why? Why do you want this coin to be successful? What development does this coin make for cryptos or cn tech ? And how are you going to make it successful? By just copying things from monero? What are your development plans? Are you planning any innovation?

Come on presidentcoin. Get your shit together. You look like you dont have any idea of how a coin work. This way we will never reach an exchange in order to dump my coins...If they ever reach the exchange with so many orphans anyway...

We work work, but the Orphans are not our fault. The problem is to many People mined at one Pool, but now if all Miners change to other Pools that there is no major Pool there would be no Orphan Blocks

No its not the pools right now. You keep disregarding the fact that so small block time will surely create a ton of orphans. My impression is that you knew that but you just want to mine some fast now and then make the block time bigger so that you have made a nice instantmine.

Will the GUI wallet be open source? Won't competitors just copy it? Smiley

Competitors might copy it as they copy anything else. But that doesnt mean anything. Why would anyone choose competitors that only copy MRO? They will always lag in updating and copying stuff from MRO and will probably have nothing new to offer. If they have something better MRO can also copy it. Right now most development on CN coins is being done for MRO...

But competitors could have low difficulty and attract more miners. MRO diff will be always high.

I strongly disagree. After monero every new coin that gets out has a difficulty of a few millions after an hour. Now everyone knows how to mine CN coins and set up a new VM to mine at start.

And anyway what that means? If it has low difficulty then it means miners can dump whenever the feel like and there is no need to hold...Just grabbing a few btc...

In the end i cannot understand why you guys fear copy coins? All cryptos are speculative but copy coins are just that with 0 new tech promises. There is no reason for monero to fear copy coins. They will just pump a bit and then dump. Now if a new coin comes out with more innovation and good dev well i will also mine it and buy it and support it. Until then who cares about clones?

and what did the bring with them? Only boolberry seems to have innovation.

In this days and age maketing is more than 50% of success, don't forget that please. I am all for the most technically advanced coin with the best team behind it to win the race, but we all know how real life works. Besides competitors have the inflation advantage.

I know what you mean. Marketing hasnt really started for monero. Indeed a nice GUI is needed in order to start spread the news. Right now the most important thing is to make this coin a solid coin and develop more things about it. Fix bugs and make it more stable. It is already an order of magnitude better in terms of anonymity from other coins and i guess those that really need anonymity know what to choose whatever the marketing of other coins is.

Bitcoin was a few years before others.
Most competitors of MRO were all born +/- a few days.
