941  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Have any of you ever had your Coinbase or Circle accounts closed? on: June 02, 2016, 09:02:48 PM
They can monitor accounts or hot wallets of betcoin.ag, but how can they monitor for example directbet.eu, they use a different wallet everytime, especially when you only send to directbet.eu wallet money, and you decide that you want winning in a different wallet, in this case I think is quite impossible for coinbase to check this. By the way what do they have against gambling in the first place ?
Isn't anyone free to do what he/she likes with his/her bitcoins anymore ?

Quite honestly, I don't gamble.  So, I don't know how the wallet structures work on any gambling site and/or how those addresses are leaked to any wallet explorer site.

Since coinbase is tied to the banking industry and to California, they have to follow guidelines for USA.  Gambling isn't legal and US Gov is 'against' online gambling.  So, that is, at least, understandable (not that I agree with it since it's ok to gamble in Nevada (and other areas)).   What isn't understandable is tracing coins to a gambling site and ban members for whom any of those coins went through.   Akin to banning every member that has any drug residue on US Currency in their wallet knowing that 90% of all USD is tainted.  http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/08/14/cocaine.traces.money/    So, I submit that coinbase should simply automatically ban 90% of it's accounts or realize that I don't have control of the actual coins I receive (spammers from gambling sites send tiny fragments to many people as adversing) and the end point to where go when I spend them.
942  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Have any of you ever had your Coinbase or Circle accounts closed? on: June 02, 2016, 08:39:03 PM
Yes, I know for fact that coinbase is closing accounts.   Mine was closed, and I couldn't figure out why (at first) other than my OTC ratings and Localbitcoin.com account (both of which haven't been used in a very long time (before I established a coinbase account)).

First, they asked questions on where I get my coins, etc.  I gave a detailed account.  (Mostly mining via BFL (hosted), cloudhashing, and at home (even with receipts, hosting fees, and pictures of the gear creating mass heat in my house)).

Then, they said I was an MSB and wanted me to register as such.  Talking to an accountant, he said I am not an MSB being that I (at the time I was mining, selling odds and ends on craigslist for BTC (when possible), and buying locally.  Rarely ever do I sell any coins.

Being that I declined to register as an MSB, I was prompty terminated from the program.  Fortunately, I was able to withdraw the coins I purchased from them (although they didn't have a choice since they pulled the funds from my bank account) and I still have those specific coins.

With my account/wallet, I have only purchased things like:  overstock.com, plane ticket, gold/silver (providentmetals and apmex), newegg, Casascius and Titan Mint coins, software (slysoft), a lock, trezors, movie, and a painting (bitcointalk).  Nothing that could remotely be considered bad.  I even gave detailed transaction numbers and details.

All the above said, I was later shown a wallet explorer / tracking info regarding my wallet coins (not by coinbase).  And, we think we figured out the reason.

It turns out I made several loans to a person that is/was fairly well known.  (Saving secured loans whereas I got his Casascius coins as collateral each time - and still have them (since graded and added to the collection)).
He disappeared and after waiting over a month past the default period, I considered all the coins mine.  He has since never shown up or contacted me.

The reason I bring this up is because as he was sending me the physical coins and I would send him the additional BTC each time, it turns out the addresses he had me send to are listed as Silk Road, evolution, Gambling, and Mixers.  (Addresses were labeled as such by the tracker, but I don't know by whom or even if correct info.)  Obviously there is no way for me to have known I was loaning coins to an address that was and/or later determined to be anything illegal in any way.

Although the government and authorities, etc can see I have never gambled, bought drugs, or even had an account with any such site (although possibly the reason the guy disappeared/defaulted), coinbase can't see that or doesn't care to look into it.

I tried to explain this to coinbase and to have them research it more; however, they were only interested in talking to my MSB Compliance Officer, of which I obviously don't have one.

Short answer to the question.  Yes, I have had a coinbase account closed and without clear definition as to why.

943  Economy / Collectibles / Re: BTCC announces Titanium physical bitcoins on: June 02, 2016, 08:15:50 PM
Huh?  First not selling to U.S. is a mistake as I would say half of the buyers that want these coins are there.  Second, charging the customer a VAT of 0.25BTC per coin is insane.  Third, not answering questions or having knowledgeable support and in a timely manner is not helpful.  Fourth, waiting until the coins are sold out before telling us. Four pretty big mistakes, or what I would call failures.  These are their own mistakes mind you.   Roll Eyes

Just to keep track of the thread, I had to say something (instead of clicking WATCH).

Not selling to the USA probably isn't simply a personal decision, but more likely a legal issue.

BTCC isn't charging a VAT.  It's the country receiving the package that is charging it. (Import fee).

I feel he (Bobby) has been good in answering.  Actually, beyond what I would have expected.  Especially as most companies simply employ someone to go through PR routines and canned responses.

On the fourth point.  Didn't he say only some orders went out showing full value, and the rest caught before shipping and offered at least one solution?

Anyway, on another note:
I know of a large order placed on 5/31, shipped on 6/1, and received in Canada on 6/2.
VAT for this order was under $100 USD
944  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Casascius Coins for sale - 1, 5, 10 on: May 30, 2016, 02:38:03 AM
3x face would be nice; however, it will not work with the larger denom coins.

So, I offer 15BTC as a starting bid/negotiations for the 10 Silver w/ Gold B

hmm might be auction time?

Start them @ face value like a boss. I will bid, but I was shocked to see you sell a goldie  Shocked

I like that idea.  Smiley

Put me down tentatively for 1 w/ box. Is this legit and not a scam (will there be escrow?)

It's legit.  minerjones is trusted, but you should check for yourself.
949  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Bitcoin Casascius Bar Originally Unloaded on: May 26, 2016, 05:13:49 PM
Thanks for the offer Michail1 but I've decided to keep it for a while

Agree with everyone here.  About 2 months ago there were a bunch of 100btc bars that went for around 300-400 usd and some 1000btc bars that went for $1500.  Feel for unloaded pieces the 1000btc will fetch the most.

Those were the redeemed bars (not unfunded).  Sorry, just wanted to be clear on the subject.   Diff than what OP is asking about - which is a bearer bar.
950  Other / Archival / Re: . on: May 26, 2016, 04:18:52 PM
I am debating on how to go about getting these Titanium coins myself.
prerelease coins at 1.1   Does this mean the price goes up after 5/30?

The fact these are funded with fresh coins that BTCC mined is pretty amazing, actually.  It's something that no other coin could offer.

I actually tried it using this (now dead) service last summer - https://blog.blocktrail.com/2015/07/announcing-blocktrail-mint-fresh-bitcoin-delivered-from-the-mines/

And they f'ed it all up and overfunded the coin. After I complained, they did buy me a new one (Lealana silver dime), so that was nice of them. Too bad they just gave up, but oh well.

I would hate to receive an overfunded coin.  HEH

951  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Bitcoin Casascius Bar Originally Unloaded on: May 26, 2016, 02:38:14 PM
Well I think I got ripped off for it paying somewhere in the region of £5000 ($7300) for it unloaded and so I just left it somewhere. It's unpeeled and in some plastic packaging that was never opened.

I am sorry to hear it.

Value....
Most people buy this stuff in BTC instead of dollar.

I have a couple of these (or more) and I paid from .85BTC to 1.2BTC each
Bitcoin value during my purchases were higher than now.  Maybe $550.  I didn't go by the dollar amount since, again, most go by the BTC amount when purchasing these.

That said, many were sold on ebay.  Many posted for around $1000, but I never saw any sell.   Sold on ebay (that I saw) ranged up to $800.

So, your paid price is probably correct if you take off one of the trailing zeros.

I would be interested in getting the bar, but only at about 1.9BTC (that includes the loaded coin to it).

Although I would love to bid, I can't find myself jumping in.

First, I like to snipe auctions, so I would wait for the last seconds.  I still might since nothing says anything about time being extended.

The only issue I now see is the end time.
Title says "10PM PST / 7PM EST - one day!"

Just so we're clear, let's fix the end time.....
7PM EST = 4 PM PST
or
10PM PST = 1AM EST

I believe you mean....
10PM EST / 7PM PST
953  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [TEASER] Something new coming, and you all might be interested in... on: May 25, 2016, 10:49:23 PM
When is the platinum coin coming out?  wink

Ok, I would take 10 of them in box.  Darn, not shipping to the US?  Sad
954  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [TEASER] Something new coming, and you all might be interested in... on: May 25, 2016, 04:07:21 PM
This is indeed true..
IF we're going to redeem it on arriving anyway destroying the hologram , why not just provide DIY coins as well ...

Haven't decided if I want one or several of these coins yet.
Like the idea of a new metal and the idea of newly gen coins.

I am on the wall, actually against the idea, of unfunded / DIY coins.

The issue I see is that new people involved in bitcoin have to understand at least something about bitcoin in order to check the coin.  It scares people away when stories get out that they have to worry if the coin may or may not actually contain any bitcoins.  The beginning days of Casascius was great.  If someone gave you a coin, then you were good to go - you didn't need to go to some website and check a partial address to see if there was any value in the coin or not.  Even the bearer bars were fine.  Fortunately there was a low mintage of 100BTC bars that were actually unfunded (had a red mark in the window).

Personal thought... I think all should be either funded or not.

If funded, you could simply peel it and put your own label on it.  Smiley
I would be ok with the idea of selling them unfunded as in NO sticker/address at all.  Smiley
955  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: I smell scam here - I think bitmarket.io is a scammer on: May 24, 2016, 03:33:55 AM
I can say for a fact that the forum tracks IP addresses, and that the administrators can track you even if you are using tor.

I am not 100% sure about the forum tracking the IP address when a PM is sent nor am I sure about logging in to your account. There is a "privacy policy" (somewhat) posted here.

The reason for my conclusion was that theymos said that he has not seen conclusive evidence that bitmarket.io's account was hacked one way or another:
I can't find any evidence confirming or contradicting whether he sent that PM specifically.

I think we are in agreement on that.  Smiley

And, who knows, it could very well be him all along.  Meh.  I'm done with it.   Would like to get the 10BTC silver w/ Gold coin though.  (unsub)
956  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: I smell scam here - I think bitmarket.io is a scammer on: May 24, 2016, 03:11:27 AM
I would interpret theymos's statement on the matter to say that the IP address/browser fingerprint of the person who created the lending thread in question was different from the IP address/browser that bitmarket.io usually uses. I would also interpret his statement to say that the IP address/browser fingerprint combination to not match any known forum user (and/or previously known hacker).

If you were to assume the above is true, then it would not show that someone besides the "real" bitmarket.io was the one who posted asking for the loan, nor does it mean that his account was in fact not hacked.

I would still say that, regardless of conclusive evidence of a hacking, that bitmarket.io should repay the loans that were taken out in his name, as the lenders relied upon his reputation when they gave the loan and it is bitmarket.io's responsibility to maintain the security of his account. The only way that I would excuse this would be if the forum was hacked, and as a direct result of this, someone was able to post from bitmarket.io's account, however I have not seen any evidence to back this up.

I see it differently.

theymos did not say the use of the account was from or from not an IP.  You can't interpret anything other than the fact he said the password was changed from the same IP on a prior password change.  There was never a claim that the hacker changed the password.  The claim was that the hacker was using the account at the same time as him and theymos didn't even touch on the subject of login IP's.  In the idea of the session id being use, theymos also didn't touch on the subject of IPs used for posts or PMs or even is the site tracks this information.

At this point, we can only confirm that the site tracks IPs of password changes based on what he said.

I am not saying bitmarket did or didn't do this.  I am only saying that the Theymos response leaves much of this open.

957  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTB] Kialara 1 BTC Original Gold on: May 23, 2016, 09:55:48 PM
I have intimate knowledge of someone you can get one from.  Oh, wait, you can close the thread.  Smiley
958  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: I smell scam here - I think bitmarket.io is a scammer on: May 23, 2016, 02:48:51 PM
My English comprehension skills are just fine, thanks.

As theymos was the only one who might have given us a straight answer for what might have happened with the account, his evidence is inconclusive. Which doesn't prove either or.

All the replies given in this thread by bitmarket.io include stuff like: your money is lost, "fuck you" and i thought I receive other people's messages.

I know Trusted on sites like this doesn't imply a person is a good human being, but the way bitmarket.io handles this situation (or the lack of effort for it), makes me want to not let him loose that easily.

To Michail1, if theymos has any way of gathering data on all the points you noted he did NOT mention, I would be really grateful to him if he does share it with us. Otherwise what you wrote is no less speculation than what I suspect to have happened.

I agree with everything you said.

It is obvious the site tracks IP use as has been shown many times in the past.  It could have been easily shown that the account was being used by two ips at the same time, but instead only shown that the password was changed which everyone already knew by the screen shot of whosonline.  Theymos clearly has more information than what he indicated; however, in his defense, I don't recall anyone asking for it either.
959  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: I smell scam here - I think bitmarket.io is a scammer on: May 23, 2016, 12:17:27 AM
Here's the message he sent me on May 13th:

Hey, if you still need the 75$ loan, I can send it to you.

Regards.

Hi, I haven't got it yet. That would be great.

Thank you.

Tough luck he chose to scam us for such a low amount. Wouldn't suspect a Hero member to go this low.

Did you read something into Theymos's statement that no one else can see.
He simply said the password was changed from the same IP the password was change from last year.

He did NOT say that account was or wasn't logged into from another IP address.
He did NOT say that several attempts were made on the account or not.
And, that's also not to say that malware / JRAT wasn't installed on his machine although less likely since he was, what appears to be, on at the same time as the 'hacker'.

It would have been in bitmarket.io's benefit had theymos said the account was logged into via diff browser sessions and/or types and/or IPs.

The only thing the statement (from theymos) confirms is that the password was changed once (after the loan(s)) since last year.

That said, I think bitmarket should have paid off the stupid $150 just to save face to blow the issue away (his fault or not).
