1781  Economy / Gambling / Re: mem's BITCOIN GAMBLING LIST on: February 19, 2014, 10:20:58 AM
Is this list still being updated? Because BitsPoker is still in the list while they scammed their users.
1782  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Occupy Mt. Gox on: February 19, 2014, 10:09:38 AM
You are on a new account asking for bitcoins... not gonna happen. If a very trusted user wants to take action he might get some support, but like this.. no sorry.

If you are planning to go there anyway, good luck.
1783  Other / Meta / Re: Ponzi world taking over gambling section on: February 18, 2014, 07:44:59 PM
I agree.

IMO Gambling and poker websites are perfect examples of good usage of bitcoin. Most governments want to control all gambling/poker websites (like USA banning all pokersites including freezing millions of peoples money.) Bitcoin gives us the freedom to just have that fun (and job for some better poker players.)

Ponzi's are obviously just a scam. Most threads even imply "guaranteed payouts" and call it "investments" (investing in what? lol)
Quote
A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that pays returns to its investors from existing capital or new capital paid by new investors, rather than from profit earned by the individual or organization running the operation.
Quote
A high-yield investment program (HYIP) is a type of Ponzi scheme, an investment scam that promises unsustainably high return on investment by paying previous investors with the money invested by new investors.

Hoping to not get scammed is not gambling. If that would be the case then "newbies buying bitcoin for PayPal" should be also in the Gambling section, because maybe you will get your money and maybe you will be scammed.

I think the "Gambling" section was a decent presentation of the gambling websites in the bitcoin community. But when the list includes so many sketchy ponzi schemes it is just embarrassing the whole bitcoin gambling scene.

I do like freedom and if idiots do want to join ponzi schemes that is ok, but better in a different forum.

This is another spammer. Posted 30 times "I would like to try out the site is there any bonus we can get to try you site for free." - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=250287;sa=showPosts

Please do not encourage spammers to join your give-away and change your rules a bit.

Probably the same guy as wewen, ptctrust, andhoe:
wewen, ptctrust, andhoe and perhaps others are all spamming in an automated way for your give-away. They have a script that gets a random post from random (Gambling) topics and then replies with that same post.

Please don't allow or credit this spammer with multiple accounts and come up with better rules cuz this spam is pretty annoying. TY.

yeah i warned him already but still pays

edit: just FYI, the accounts wewen, ptctrust, andhoe are already removed because of the spam. If you credit these spammers you gain nothing, their accounts will be removed and they will keep making new spam accounts.

edit2: I got a sweet personal message:

1785  Economy / Speculation / Re: Good news! MtGox might enable BTC withdrawals again soon! on: February 15, 2014, 10:15:42 AM
Just like they implemented ltc 1 year ago and fixed the fiat withdrawal problems.
To be fair LTC shouldn't have any priority at all. Also fiat withdrawals are most likely legal issues that you cannot resolve in a few days.

This specific problem is a technically issue and just requires them to work/test hard on it. I personally do think they will fix it. I am just not sure if it will take "only" 2 more days or 2 weeks. Also obviously they did fuck up in the first place and they probably could have fixed it quicker.
1786  Economy / Speculation / Re: Good news! MtGox might enable BTC withdrawals again soon! on: February 15, 2014, 10:11:15 AM
So at 15:15 UTC - 10:15 EST the BTC deposits will work again. But withdrawals will take at least till Monday..

Quote
Once the implementation is complete customers will again be able to deposit bitcoin, but we will be doing extensive testing  before bitcoin withdrawals are reactivated. We will publish an update on the situation on Monday.

1789  Economy / Lending / Re: Semi-Pro Poker player looking for investors to stake me on Sealswithclubs.eu!!!! on: February 14, 2014, 09:33:06 PM
We have a staking website (including WoT) on Seals: www.sealsdeals.info that is directly connected to the tourney results etc. Are you already using that? I buy quite a lot of shares of Seals players there, if u have proven yourself there (both for skill and trustworthy) I am def willing to stake u. And under what username are on Seals?
1790  Economy / Lending / Re: [Invest] Need 1 BTC to start IRL money exchanges on: February 12, 2014, 03:20:31 PM
If so then why didn't anybody do it yet?
I hope I'm not missing something, it could be really painful if I am  Huh
You are missing the fact that the bitcoin community is full of scammers that steal money. And your request looks awfully much like a scam attempt. Without any collateral or even proof you will probably not get a single satoshi.

I guess that i could buy 1 btc from my own pocket but I don't know if everything will go smooth or how long it will take to get things moving
Shouldn't that be part of your "investigation" ?
1791  Economy / Lending / Re: [Invest] Need 1 BTC to start IRL money exchanges on: February 12, 2014, 01:57:16 PM
Not sure if trolling or very bad scam attempt.

But just in case... You know you can buy fractional bitcoins for like 2 dollars worth and still show them how a transaction works, right?

so I surpassed the 1250 krill mark yesterday, what do I have to do to participate
in the next krill freeroll Smiley ?
4 (or less?) hours before it starts you can sign-up by logging into the main website and click a link on the bottom of the My account page. GL.

any kind of first deposit bonus or some affiliates who give out a bonus?
have played large volume on pstars and ftp before black friday and am looking
to get it going again
Thing is, everyone can create a new account in seconds even without an e-mail address. So there isn't really anything free for new players (unless you get really lucky and an affiliate trusts you to give u some chips to start with.)

There are still two free things available to new players.  The big one is the DonkDown freeroll on Wednesdays at 10:30 PM EST.  Another is there are these 66 player sit-and-go-freerolls that go off from time to time and can be found under the SNG tab.  There's also a "free" subtab under the SNG tab that will have it, usually by itself, if it's around.

The 66-er generally only goes off at times of low traffic, so you have to snipe for it a bit.
Yeh, I meant free specifically for new players. Anyone can join these freerolls.

1795  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] Netflix and Hulu 1 Year Subscriptions at 75% Discount [netflix4btc.com] on: February 06, 2014, 12:55:29 PM
Thanks. Worked fine with new account from the Netherlands Smiley

Instead of the suggested Tunlr.net DNS change I use a simple browser extension: https://mediahint.com/ Then I created a new account.. non-US PayPal accounts are not accepted, so you must fill-in a creditcard (European CC is fine, just add fake zipcode), and after that redeem the code again and it's working good Smiley also if I disable that extension I get the tv-series and movies that are selected in the Netherlands (including some Dutch etc) so thats good too Smiley

Thanks! Hope it will really work for a year, but worth the risk :p
1796  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] Netflix and Hulu 1 Year Subscriptions at 75% Discount [netflix4btc.com] on: February 06, 2014, 10:33:36 AM
7 confirmations.. no code yet :p

edit: AH sorry. I didn't see the "Coming soon" above "Automatic delivery" :p so I guess you manually process it now, which is no problem. Thanks in advance.

1799  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitly for Bitcoin? on: February 02, 2014, 11:00:17 PM
An online wallet could include it in their services for their -own- users. Like a decentralized database that changes the short-address to the real address upon the transaction.

I think inputs.io had that (and got hacked or 'hacked' so online/decentralized wallets might not be the best solution as wallet.)

Within the core bitcoin protocol/code I am quite sure it's not possible ever. I'm not sure if it's really a problem either. Most companies/webshops will give you an easy QR code to scan for your mobile wallet and for your computer you could copy-paste the address. Obviously there are some people who barely know how to copy-paste and use a computer, but not sure if bitcoin necessarily has to be for them :X

There will be disadvantages too. If the short-address that you want is not available any more, you might dislike bitcoin right away as new user. Also by QR and copy-pasting the addresses there will be less typos and since 'normal' bitcoin transaction are irreversible that's quite important.

But will be interested to hear more arguments for why it's needed and if someone does have a good idea for it.
