1741  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Quick BTC transfer between exchanges, on: February 26, 2014, 06:58:15 PM
Mostly it's the deposit which requires 3 - 6 confirmations, so not sure how u want to change this? (unless you can get btc right away with internal withdrawals > deposits?)
1742  Economy / Lending / Re: Needing Loan Of .5BTC/Return Of .6BTC 20% - 5-7 Business Days - Collateral on: February 26, 2014, 06:32:03 PM
So basically all the collateral you have is an account worth ~ $1 and an encrypted file?

IDs and documents are great but we cannot buy anything with it Sad
1743  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: February 26, 2014, 05:32:05 PM
I am not an expert at server level, but my understanding is this:

The certificate makes sure you are connected to the right server. So if there is an error, there is a server (from the hacker) between you and the actual Seals server. Obviously the hacker would log your password as you login.

Basically you should never add an exception when you see an untrusted certificate error. (unless you are a developer and know what you are doing or smth)

Luckily most times this error means an expired certificate, but in this case it was actually a hacker. According to the Seals dev this attack was "limited".

If you have client version v0.2.18 of the Desktop client and are logging in, the attack would be detected and you should be safe.

Another "brand new" "no website" "1 minute to set up" ponzi from a completely new random account.

YEEH.

At least buy a domain/hosting and make a website for it.

To all: don't be an idiot. Just ignore this "ponzi". Thank you.
1747  Other / Archival / Re: Anybody know how to copy a table with CSS style? (will tip BTC) on: February 26, 2014, 02:49:30 PM
You can try something like this:

1. Use devtools F12 (in Chrome/IE and download addon Firebug in FF.)
2. Use the "select element tool" to select the table/tr/td element
3. Compare the style on both websites (perhaps there is already a previous table style in your second style -or- you didn't copy all css from the example site)

Also, I assume you have permission to copy it like that hehe :p

If they really noticed suspicious login attempts or something like that on your account, then I think this is a great security measure. Looks like all you need to do is reply to them? But good luck and keep us updated.
1750  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: when can i change my avatar? on: February 26, 2014, 12:13:35 PM
I'm stuck with Homer Sad
D'oh!

But yeh since that hack was most-likely a backdoor placed way earlier and the avatar code was audited a bit more, in theory it could be enabled again. But I can understand theymos worry just in case there is still a bug in it. IMO, at least "choosing an avatar" could be enabled (without the uploading part.)

Dear MtGox Customers,

As there is a lot of speculation regarding MtGox and its future, I would like to use this opportunity to reassure everyone that I am still in Japan, and working very hard with the support of different parties to find a solution to our recent issues.

Furthermore I would like to kindly ask that people refrain from asking questions to our staff: they have been instructed not to give any response or information. Please visit this page for further announcements and updates.

Sincerely,

1752  Other / Meta / Re: Proposal: Disallow Ads in Signatures on: February 26, 2014, 10:32:04 AM
I agree.

That might seem ironic since I have an ad in my sig. But yeh I have been looking in these ad sig topics and all had "weekly posting requirements", for me that just seems wrong so I never joined that. This current ad didn't have any posting requirements (for full members) so I thought it's ok. It's and easy BTC0.02 - $12 in a week without any effort, so yeh sorry guys Tongue

I do think generally ads in sig promote spamming tho. I think disallowing ads completely is ok (unless it's your own site or perhaps just a referral link) But another solution would be: no weekly posting requirements, no min. post requirements, only min. activity requirements allowed. This way the the websites still can select people who have a bit of posts (obviously paying someone who has 0 posts is also useless.) And since activity includes time the spamming should be much less. I think for most part this will help. Even tho people might start selling/buying accounts more to get the time requirement of activity :X but I guess it can be worth a try first.

1754  Economy / Gambling / Re: New Bitcoin Program with Interest and referral (105%) CityBuildTrade on: February 26, 2014, 09:38:52 AM
The construction industry, is certainly a profitable & stable company to invest, however, this site doesn't sound right, really, what sort of construction company are U engage in, U can't really have construction company's website with just the investors' section, how about for eg. contractors, employee section & customer section. Too vague, really, how did it generate profit to distribute to its investor.

If this is a legible construction company website, it shouldn't just have investor section. Look up for eg. www.woolworths.com.au. I mean construction company should be a big scale business, their website should be more indepth as shown by the above website. But btc-arbs is different, their story seems convincing to me, at least.

I would say No no no no no no no no  Sad
This is just a HYIP aka ponzi scheme Wink Some first people will get paid and after that everyone will be scammed. Def. do not join any ponzi unless you like being scammed.

1756  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Best website to sell & buy instantly? on: February 25, 2014, 06:38:33 PM
For trading USD<>BTC, at this point BitStamp is the biggest, followed by BTC-E.
edit: to buy right away you will need USD ready on the site, not sure if you meant that?

To deposit & buy right away you could look into Coinbase (in USA) and P2P trades (on localbitcoins, #bitcoin-otc, this forum, etc) just be careful with P2P trades (A LOT of scammers who will talk/do anything to convince you.) If anyone from the Netherlands is reading this, we have some great instant buy website through online banking like www.bitonic.nl
1757  Other / Meta / Re: Ponzi world taking over gambling section on: February 25, 2014, 02:47:38 PM
regardless of the content of the ponzis, they are breaking the "one site per thread" rule by copy-pasting the scams to new domains almost daily.

I'm all for "games and rounds" housing them all for now also if making a new sub is too hard.
Hmm... I did not notice that! If it's truly the case that they are buying a domain just to bypass the uniqueness rule, then clearly they are violating that rule. I'll look into this.
Actually most ponzi sites don't even buy hosting/domain. They are on sites like:

*.yolasite.com, *.webs.com, *.byethost.com, *.net84.net, *.1ufh.com

Obviously many are from 1 user. Just check posts like:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=483162.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=483633.0
The posts are literally the same.

Honestly it's really out of hand. The problem is that a ponzi might run for like 10 idiots "investments" and after that no one makes a depo so the owner can run with the money. Then he will have to make a new website/account to keep running his ponzi schemes. Since he has to make a new site every few days he will use free hosting sites.

1) Can you guys at least make a new forum for it? Just call it Ponzi/HYIP?

2) Also could there be a requirement that a Gambling topic at least need an own domain name? No free sub-domain / hosting? That would clear 90% of them and especially the ones that are even scamming and spamming extra hard (not giving any money back.)

I will be happy to report them (like I am reporting others topics too) but the rules are not completely clear for me. At this point I am only reporting them if they don't have a website at all.
More than 50% Ponzi now..

Some don't even have a website (I have reported them but not yet moved to "Games and rounds"), most have a site with free hosting / sub domain that can be made in 5 minutes. Shame the forum is full of these shit sites.

1759  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: looking to buy 20-25 btc through paypal on: February 25, 2014, 01:42:01 PM
PayPal should never be used. Verified does not mean anything, you can verify a PP account for a few dollars. Charge-backs can be done after 6 months so for a safe trade, you would need to escrow the bitcoins for 6 months. People have been scammed a lot of money because of PayPal charge-backs.

Nothing personal ! Just consider changing your payment method Wink
1760  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTB] Bitcoin for paypal to build trust on: February 25, 2014, 01:38:07 PM
"to build trust" sounds pretty bad to start with. Also PayPal should never be used. Verified does not mean anything, you can verify a PP account for a few dollars. Charge-backs can be done after 6 months so even if you make successful trades you still cannot be trusted (only after 6 months.)

Nothing personal ! Just consider changing your payment method Wink
