Portugal with all the advantages of its players will not have too much trouble facing Morocco. I'm sure Portugal is very capable of beating Morocco even though Morocco played defensively such as holding Spain to a draw for 120 minutes.
Portugal's game pattern is much better than Spain's and I don't think Morocco's strategy will be able to survive without conceding. Spain lacked punch in the Moroccan area, but Portugal was clearly different. Portugal have a lot of great strikers, so of course they will benefit.
I would not be to sure if Portugal will really not having much trouble to beat Morocco in the quarterfinal. I mean we basically were all thinking the same about Spain before they have faced Morocco a few days ago and we all know how it went down in the end. Even though Spain was the dominating team in that match, Morocco also showed a great performance and they even had a huge chance to win the game in the overtime. Portugal showed a great performance yesterday but we also have to take into account, that they were extremely efficient yesterday. If you are up with 2 goals after 30 minutes then everything becomes so much easier. I think it will be a very tight game up until the end unless we see early goals of Portugal again. Now we have to wait and see the actual game between Portugal and Morocco as nothing is definite and sure that who'll win either chances of Portugal to win Is fairly higher than Morocco but yesterday chances of Spain were also higher than Morocco so we cannot say anything for now. Portugal efficiency ,attack ,strikers and defense is definitely more than their opponent. So we'll see an interesting game and may be unexpected too. |

This is a classic example why you shouldn't allow your star batter who lost his form for three years and regained a little bit while playing in the world cup a break. He is again struggling! The management did change his order but nothing is working for him. I think he is in his end and the new selection committee might drop him hereafter. They already have removed Dravid as the coach of India and they might do the same with veteran players.
Apparently whole Indian batting lineup is struggling somehow , 3 wickets already gone 57 runs and 16 overs gone. Now Shreyas iyer is making some runs with KL Rahul on other side of the batting. Either its the pitch or Bangladeshi balling that Is giving them tough time. |

In today's first match, Spain sensationally loses the World Cup losing to Morocco. Spain had a 77% advantage in possession of the ball, but not much resulted from this advantage. The Morocco team successfully managed to neutralize Spain's strongest points. Bono's performance in the penalty shoot-out should also be mentioned.
In today's second match, the bookmakers' favorite is Portugal, but I believe that Switzerland is not without a chance to advance. It's going to be an interesting match.

Congratulations to Morocco, I really appreciate everything they did today for their country. No one would dare to say that Morocco won against Spain because the quality of the Spanish players is recognized, but in fact the Matador team was failed by the extraordinary defensive scheme of Morocco.
What now, Spain just have to mourn this embarrassing defeat to a team that is not in the favorite since the group stage. Congratulations once again to Morocco, they represented Africa in the quarter-finals. I hope they can conquer the continent of Europe at the 2022 World Cup, hopefully it's true. But the next match will definitely be very difficult to repeat history like today, especially if Morocco meets Portugal.

Defensively, they have maintained absolute control and compactness and with Spain’s style of play that isn’t penetrative, I expect Morocco to hold on more. Now we go into the Extra time and if Morocco can hold on for this 30mins, they might luckily go win on penalties.
Morroco is doing all the can to take the game to penalty shoot out. Notice that Morroco has more shots on target. The first 15 mins of the extra time just ended and it is still a goalless draw. I wished what Morroco gets a last minute goal in the second half of the extra time just like Cameroon got against Brazil in the group stage. Though I didn't watch the match but from the comments, it is crystal clear that Morocco played really well today, it's been a goalless draw like I predicted in my previous comment here. Even if Morocco didn't get a chance to score a last minute goal, I am hoping and praying for them to win the match even through the penalty shoot out, their performance against against Spain is really outstanding and showed they prepared very well for the game, I am still surprised that Spain didn't score all through the match even with the second extra time, it's Indeed a great performance from Morocco, I congratulate them. Morocco is extraordinary today and is fighting, Spain may have underestimated their game with Morocco and became overconfident that's why there is no goal from Spain side too. Unfortunately Spain did not dare to try to attack the Moroccan defense penalty box, several times Spain attacked only outside the Moroccan penalty box and there were no threatening Shot on targets, plus the Moroccan defense was really like a Chinese wall, very strong and difficult to break through by Spain, this round of extra time at least had surprises from the two countries, whoever wins at least tonight's match is very interesting to watch.

France managed to win 3-1 in this match as well as being a good capital when advancing to the last eight. I hope that England will win the match against Senegal, so that in the last eight France will face England, so that the last eight match will be even more exciting and tense for us to watch, considering that France was the previous World Cup champion in Russia and a strong candidate for this year's World Cup.
Kylian Mbappe performed quite well in this match, he managed to give France a perfect victory, Poland got a consolation goal in the final minutes, although Robert Lewandowski failed to execute and was given a repeat penalty by the referee due to Hugo Lloris' movement that was too fast. I don't think France will be the strongest contender for the Qatat World Cup title after today's victory. France will likely meet England in the quarter-finals if England win against Senegal in a moment. Apart from that Spain and Portugal in my opinion will also qualify from this stage so I think France still has to fight to beat strong opponents to reach the final. If the scenario I think is correct, then I think France will meet Portugal or Spain in the semi-finals if France manages to win in the quarter-finals. So it takes a lot of work to get to the final, and it's never going to be easy. Pakistan scored 181 runs in 51 overs by batting today. Pakistan has not lost any wicket so far. But I am waiting to see how Pakistan will play tomorrow. Now the thing to watch is if England can perform well in bowling then Pakistan will not be able to score so many runs in this match.
It is not about the bowling of either England or Pakistan, the pitch is a flat dead wicket and there is no purchase for the bowlers and hence England batsman were able to score freely and made huge runs including two double centuries and now it is the Pakistan batsman's turn to pile in the runs and if they play carefully the match will end up in a draw and some of the batsman will be improving their career averages  . I really don't understand the logic of PCB here to prepare such dead wickets. I am sure it is not the fear of loss as Pakistan has good bowling options that could have been exploited on fast pitches. Don't know who gave them these suggestions to make a dead pitch. A team as good as England is coming to our country, we should have prepared good pitches, no one wants to watch these dead pitches matches. Honestly, I prefer to watch FIFA world cup matches and highlights rather than watching these batsmen from both countries piling up the runs. That's true when you watch FIFA you watch wonderful, exciting matches with the efforts of their host country who have prepared outstanding world class stadiums for this world cup . Then here we have this test series in which players are just collecting runs making centuries and that's it. Atleast PCB have prepared and worked on thier pitches. I don't know how is Ramiz Raja going to organise Asia Cup in pakistan with this casual attitude. Are we having the Asia Cup in Pakistan? I heard somewhere that since India does not want to come to Pakistan to play the Asia cup, the venue may be shifted to some Neutral venue as, without India, the Asia cup won't be of any interest. Coming back to this test match, the pitch is a big mess here. Think that players are making centuries but no one is appreciating them because it is more of the dead pitches that is playing the part in all these runs. Yea Asia Cup is happening in Pakistan and Ramiz Raja recently told in a press conference that its happening with or without India. Now that's a big question mark for all the world and ICC too how will the tournament held without India and BCCI? Is it possible to organize a big tournament like Asia Cup without BCCI? I think more than half of cricket fans in the world are Indians. Because their population is huge. I don't think it is possible to host the Asia Cup without such a country. It is the regret of many that Italy is not in the World Cup. The World Cup begins and there will be no team in the blue jersey that the football world could have ever imagined. Football is an extremely always competitive sport and this is an example in case of Italy.

Japan is showing great performance from day one, they have beaten top teams like Germany and Spain but failed to beat Costa Ricca that's something strange since Costa Rica is weakest team of group E. there is nothing to regret, those who enter the world cup are the best teams that have passed the Qualification, the thing about Italy that failed to qualify was caused by their declining performance. Germany's failure to qualify is also not surprising because they failed to win in their opening match against Japan. what was surprising was that Japan was able to win this group because previously it was Spain and Germany that were the favorites to qualify from the group, but Japan made a surprise by being able to beat the two top European teams. Germany was not in form this fifa they didn't perform well to qualify for the next round. The teams who performed well and won their matches made their way to the next round . We have seen some new teams and names in this world cup who have not performed in previous world cups but in this word cup their improvement and growth is impressive and visible. Japan has shown some wonderful performances ,same is with Morocco and some teams are out of this world cup although they are favourite like Belgium. |

England match looks like they are playing a T20 match. In the 75th over, they collected 18 runs. Such a picture is rare in Test matches. But if they continue to bat like this, it is difficult to say where the number of runs will stop. Moreover, they have enough wickets in hand. But there is no picture of the fame of the Pakistani bowler in the match. Their bowling action completely defeated by the England batsman. If a team scores 700-800 runs, the game will be one sided that would be boring for the spectators.

Germany had to leave after defeating Costa Rica. The fear came true. The Germans were eliminated from the group stage in two consecutive World Cups. Despite a 4-2 win over Costa Rica, Germany failed to qualify for the group stage. Germany's fate was largely out of its own hands. Despite defeating Costa Rica, they would have been eliminated if Japan beat Spain in the group's other match. And so it happened. Japan has advanced to the last sixteen after becoming group champions from Group 'E'. And Spain became the runner-up.

A shocking elimination of Germany from World Cup although Germany played very well but they could have played way more better to make possibility of going to next round. England is playing test like T20 and ODI match either its because of Pakistan balling or their batsman but this is clear they ll give a target of 500+ . On their first day they have made 376 runs in 60 overs their run rate is 6+ and only 3 wickets gone and take by zahid mahmood and haris Rauf.
Zak Crawley made 122 runs and Ben Duckett made 107 runs. May be the pitch is flat and there is nothing the Pakistan bowlers could do, everyone scored a century except Joe Root. These type of flat wickets will not attract fans to Test cricket. Need some competitive aspect to the match and if not it will end up in a draw unless the Pakistan batsman messes up.
Even Australia set a huge total with Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith scoring double centuries and Travis Head missing on his century by a run. Flat batting pitches everywhere as West Indies also had a great start without loosing any wickets. So England become first team to score 500 runs on Day 1 and first ever team whose 4 players scored centuries on Day 1. What an innings by England batsman and still they have a day to score and make centuries . The third round matches of the World Cup are being played today in Group E and Group F.
The first to take the field are the teams in Group F. Croatia takes on Belgium; while at the same time, Morocco faces off against Canada. While Canada has already been eliminated from the competition, the other three teams have a chance to advance to the knockout stage.
Group E matches begin at 20:00 (CET). Spain is playing against Japan. Luis Enrique previously announced that his team will go for victory in order to secure first place in the group. In the second match, Costa Rica will compete against Germany, last in the group with only one point and needs a win to advance - but it also depends on the result of the match between Spain and Japan.
Croatia should win if they will play like they played the game against Canada and especially if Belgium will play like they did their first two games against Canada and Morocco. However Lukaku should start in this game and we will see how well he recovered from the injury. In the last game against Canada he played the last 10 minutes and did nothing. I really hope that Morocco qualifies as the second team because they played their first two matches pretty OK. They definitely deserve it more than Belgium. Today's another important day for qualifying teams in next round , Croatia and Belgium both need to win this game in order to qualify to super 16 and they are same rank teams Croatia has 4 points on table and Belgium has 3. The win probability is same for both teams but in other game Morocco and Canada Morocco is far better than Canada in terms of their game to hoping for its win in today's match . Second round we have Japan and Spain , I think this will be a one-sided match as Spain performances are smashing in this world cup and they are extremely motivated to win the fifa Cup . The only long-term solution is to construct an adjustable roof over the stadium that can be opened and closed. But I am not sure that the ICC is willing to do that because of the restrictions and the money available to a lot of cricket boards. So honestly, there is no fix to this problem right now.
This is the solution that I proposed too, but I know that it's pointless since the ICC would have constructed them if they wanted to a long time back and money is definitely not an issue here if you ask me. I cannot think of any other great solution to fully resolve this rain issue in cricket. Thus is definitely a solution to rain issue and ICC should consider this suggestion in case any cricket team or stadium have put forward. Specially the big tournaments like World Cup and Asia cup shouldn't be affected because of rains . If that's not possible atleast check proper weather forecast before organising such events on international level. |

And those who go to Qatar to watch the World Cup in person must follow the rules there so they don't get into trouble later. Some rules have been changed because they conform to the existing rules and we, as an audience, must follow them. Muslim culture is very different - they have strict rules for beer and gambling. The point mentioned above is also very important - women are not supposed to touch stranger men and men dont touch women - this is the rule and everyone abide by this rule. Yes, that's correct. They should do as you say but nowadays people have changed a lot. Men can touch women and vice versa. Islam prohibits beer and gambling because later, it can make them not realize what they have been doing while drunk. I have heard stories about people who were caught by Qatari authorities for hiding wine in binoculars and going in stadium ,like I don't get one thing why is this so difficult for people to not drink for just 1 month or few days . |
