They are playing country cricket in England. IPL franchises are not interested in associate players. The problem is that Netherlands is not a test country and therefore the players don't have regular opportunities to play cricket at the highest level. So the best players sign contracts with various English county sides. But the negative side is that, if they are contracted then they can't play for Netherlands during the county season. This is a regular problem for teams such as Scotland, Netherlands and Ireland. Their best players get stolen by England.

I don't know what's the difference between whales, Scotland and Ireland. In many cases they are under England but still have there independent team's. Netherlands if want to come up then they have no other option but to avail such series seriously. I am sure Netherlands boards is paying good money to there players and they are not in dire need of money.
1042  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: June 04, 2022, 04:24:07 AM
Logically no one would ruin their career of earning big money but the players who are the end of their career are always a target and all they need to share is local room strategy. Majority of these accusations cannot be proved unless the officers can provide trail and i have not seen that till now even during the Sreesanth fixing case.

There are many cases where young players were caught in fixing. Why would someone ruin his repute at the end of his career? These days fixing has gone to next level as higher authorities are also involved in it. See IPL for instance, its clear from results of matches that they are fixed but no one saying anything since there is no evidence.

Times have changed, at least here in India. Women cricketers such as Harmanpreet Kaur, Mithali Raj, Smriti Mandhana and Jhulan Goswami are now very popular across India. They may not be as popular as Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma, but I would say that a lot more people in India have heard about them when compared to Lovlina Borgohain or Ravi Kumar Dahiya. It is both good and bad for sports in India. On one side it shows how popular women athletes have become, and on the other side it demonstrates how the other sports are suffering in India as a result of dominance from cricket.

It's good that women cricket in India is progressing but it's still a long way to go. Actually women cricket less Aus, England and England is suffering badly. As boards are not wiling to spend even a penny on women cricket. India Women team performance as seen in last World Cup need more improvement.
1044  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia's economy is 'imploding' on export decline, economists claim on: June 03, 2022, 12:19:07 PM
It's easier said than done! When the import of a country is down, it means two things -

1. The country is on the way of becoming independent
2. Their forex reserves are saved from being depleted faster

These are the indicators of a strong economy and not a weak one. Russia has been supplying around 14% of world's oil and gas requirement since long. So it is not very easy to make them bend down in the face of sanctions.

Most hilariously when the sanctions have been imposed by a country responsible for most number of wars in the history of humankind.

The world must end of dollar dominance which gives US an upper hand on almost everything.

Saying usa and EU are peace promoter in the world is biggest lie joke. The point where world stands today is because of usa and EU wars which they started just for there own gains. USA and EU are doing dirty tactics once again by supping arms to ukarine and imposing sanctions on Russia while they live happily in there own countries.

Disappointed with the performance from Netherlands so far. They need to make use of these opportunities and win matches against test nations. It is the same West Indies who conceded a series loss against Ireland at home a few months ago. I understand that some of the premium Dutch players are currently playing county cricket and therefore unavailable for team selection. But these opportunities doesn't come too often. And also, they should not forget the fact that the ICC has decided to scrap the Men's Cricket World Cup Super League.

West Indies is a regular test side while Netherlands is very new to cricket. But that's sad that Netherlands players are not availing this opportunity rather playing IPL. I don't think Netherlands have performed too bad so far, scored 240 in first ODI while 214 in second. The first they should try to do is to play there quota of full 50 overs.
1046  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: June 03, 2022, 11:59:24 AM

That's very much true. The way IPL matches were played at later part clearly tells the story but no one can dare to investigate that since its a win win situation for icc, bcci and rest of the cricket boards. The only way to recover so much money invested in IPL is through fixing.
1047  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: June 03, 2022, 11:50:50 AM
I don't understand what the hell is going on. England blasted out for just 141 runs. For heaven's sake, the pitch doesn't look that bad and it equally supports both the batsmen and the bowlers. And this is the same pitch where Zak Crawley and Alex Lees added 59 runs for the first wicket. What happened to the famed England middle order (Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes.etc)? I admit that New Zealand has the best pace attack in test format at this point. But England had the home advantage and in form batsmen. Really shameful.

We are in first session of Day 2 and 23 wickets have fallen. Both NZ and England failed miserably in first innings and NZ once again repeating batting performance in second innings. NZ top 3 gone just for 39 runs. May be we have result of this match today.
1048  Economy / Economics / Re: Who will Replace Russian Gas Supplies to Europe? on: May 31, 2022, 01:43:57 PM
Keyboard warriors are coming up with all sort of scenarios to replace the Russian gas. What they don't understand is that designing and implementing new projects to extract natural gas may take many years. And even after that, there is no guarantee that the natural gas prices will remain high enough to make these profits profitable. And secondly, replacing pipeline gas with LNG can be very tricky. There is only a limited number of LNG tankers available. And the same can be said about the LNG terminals as well. In short, there is no quick fix solution.

While usa is doing his best to stop countries from entering russia block by not allowing them to buy its gas and oil. India has made a good move for its people, in current inflation Indian government has reduced patrol price by 9.5 Indian rupee and diesel by 7 Indian rupee. Europe solution to fix its energy crisis lies in Russia gas.
1049  Economy / Economics / Re: Pay in rubles or have your gas shut off by April on: May 31, 2022, 11:49:11 AM
This is not the first time India is trying to replace the Russian made weapons with locally manufactured ones. The first attempts were made two decades ago. But everytime the HAL delivers low quality products (even worse then those from Russia) and in the end the defense ministry is forced to go back to dealing with Russia. One advantage with Russian weapons is that they are very affordable compared to the ones from France or Germany. And with one of the lowest per capita GDPs in the world, India can't afford to splurge a lot of money on imported weapons. And sourcing them from China is out of consideration, due to poor relationship between the two countries.

India spends 70 billion usd on its defence and same is volume of trade with China. India is now moving to west for procurement of weapons. The recent induction of rafale fighter from France is part of that move. Russian weapons are not that much advanced or reliable in 21st century compared to western weapon system.
1050  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction causing victim to scam his family on: May 31, 2022, 11:30:49 AM
Trust will be lost from the people around because of bad behavior, people who are addicted to gambling will always think about how to get easy money. The family can only persuade them to stop gambling because they do not want their family members to go the wrong way, without the desire to stop gambling, the advice of the family will be in vain.
The impact of bad behavior makes gambling addicts will be ostracized, both in their family and closest friends. Anyone will not easily trust someone who has not left a bad habit, because it will make them feel used with sweet words from the mouth of a gambling addict.

No matter how much we support gambling it bring with it bad things. The story OP is narrating is not the first nor the last one. There are scores of such stories, in my view gambling is fine as long as you have control over yourself. Once you got addiction of gambling, you can't control yourself and you will end up destroying yourself.

This is why "The House" always wins, because we are greedy.  Wink

There is universal consent that house (platofrm) is always the winner. The best approach is when you have decent balance just quit the game. But this is easy to say and almost impossible to implement. The house have there own tactics to call you back even if you are willing to quit.
1052  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: May 30, 2022, 10:33:34 AM
That was almost three decades ago. The problem is that Sri Lanka has remained where they were in 1996, and all the other teams have surged ahead of them in the meantime. A test nation can't simply progress at international level if all the cricket activity is concentrated in just one city. The same can be said about Bangladesh as well. Sri Lanka needs first class teams and facilities outside Colombo, in cities such as Kandy, Jaffna, Galle and Trincomalee. The SLCB needs to take the initiative and they can't blame the ICC everytime.

Forget about Srilanka for the moment right now, they have much more serious issues to discuss at home rather then restructuring there domestic cricket setup. I don't think Bangladesh deserve test status at first place, they were wrongfully given this status. Afghanistan is much better side then Bangladesh for test status.
1053  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: May 30, 2022, 10:29:15 AM
Well.. it is quite possible. Kohli is not in good form for the last 2 years or so, and there are so many talented youngsters waiting to replace him from his no.3 batting position within the national team. It needs to be seen for how long the BCCI will stick with him despite his poor performance. Hardick went through a similar lean phase and it took 2 years for the selectors to kick him out. If Kohli had concentrated on his game rather than all the drama such as Black Lives Matter and Diwali cracker ban, then he would have been able to perform much better. Maybe he should learn a lesson or two from the past legends such as Sachin Tendulkar or Rahul Dravid.

Sachin focused on his fitness too much that's why he was able to play for so long. Dravid despite having awesome figures never crossed the line of decency. Its best in interest of Indian cricket that kohli be given rest and some new talent may check in. After yesterday win chances of Hardick chances of return to Indian team have gone bright.
1054  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CATA]Flow | NFT | Middleware | Decentralized Cloud Storage on: May 29, 2022, 06:08:10 PM

CATA is successful only if the solution is acceptable for the community and they really think that we have some problem like that and CATA can really solve this issue. Jut wait for few weeks and we see who will join CATA.

Through CATA underlying file system users can obtain persistent and secure storage to preserve the raw data of NFT. Also intermediate CATA-data base layer will allow flexible storage and retrieval of structured data like meta data of NFT. Something not available before.
1055  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BOOM - First Self-Burning Cryptocurrency Based on Smart Contract on: May 29, 2022, 06:02:02 PM
There is very little chance of BOOM going up in coming days, the market is not very much positive and BOOM behavior throughout this bull run is also very disappointing. My advice is not to jump into such coins at the moment.

Better find some other coin since I dont think there is chance of BOOM to go up there is no development coming from BOOM side and there token burning will take time before it will reach to a place where its demand surpass its supply. Till then you can roam somewhere else.
1056  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: May 29, 2022, 04:23:53 PM
Honestly, there are reasons for BCCI to say that because the last time ICC tried a cricket world cup with 16 teams, if I remember correctly India was knocked out of the world cup by Bangladesh and it was a really bad situation in India because of that.
People started burning Tyres and Dummies in front of the Indian cricketer's house. That's why I don't think they will want to take any chances.

As far as the ICC world cup is concerned I don't think they are going to exclude automatic qualification. Because that brings a negative result in the revenue.

Indian are crazy for cricket and they hate seeing there country losing a match. Remember 1996 semi final between Indian and Srilanka. The spectators started throwing bottles and other rubbish in the stadium after seeing that there country will lose the match. Match referee had to intervene and he declared Srilanka victorious based on score.
1057  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: May 29, 2022, 04:15:38 PM

Agreed. Favoritism and nepotism are there in cricket (although not as much as it used to be there in the old times), but these are individual-based preferences and doesn't favor any particular religion or ethnic group. As we have seen, nepotism alone can't guarantee the survival of players. Kohli tried to stuff the national team with RCB players such as Navdeep Saini, Washington Sundar and Mohammed Siraj. But in the end, these players couldn't cement their positions in the national side and Kohli himself lost the captaincy.

Now kohli in next phase will lose his slot as batsmen from India  squad because of his stats. Kohli start as a player was perfect but he went too proud because of his performance that he started giving preference to players he like over there performance., result is in front of all of us.
1058  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: May 29, 2022, 04:10:17 PM

A few months ago, I had mentioned about the problems that are present in the domestic cricket (for both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka). In both these countries, instead of a region-based first class system they have club sides based in the capital city competing in first class competition. Obviously these privately owned clubs are going to prioritize limited overs format, because that is from where they get the revenue. Both the boards (SLCB and BCB) should reformat their domestic setup and take steps to spread cricket outside Colombo and Dhaka respectively.

With same domestic setup Srilanka has won world cup and also produced world class player's. They are having a bad time which will be over soon but I don't understand the problem with BCB they are in test cricket for 23 years while they joined ODI format way before that still there performance is not different then an associate team.
1059  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 29, 2022, 04:05:22 PM

Rajasthan Royals have lost its big wicket Jos Butler. Rajasthan seems to be in struggle to reach 100 runs. After 15 overs RR have managed to score 94 runs losing 4 wickets. This Match has gone into the hands of Gujarat Titans. Very low scoring from Rajasthan Royals and Hardhik Pandya is bowling good taking 3 wickets leaving just 17 runs in 4 overs.

RR got a decent start but no one after the openers took the responsibility and it's now 6 down. 100 run in 17th overs and this will take them to 130 to 140 which won't be a difficult target to chase for team like GT. Hardik Pandya the highlight of the match so far got 3 major wickets.

At first I laughed at the idea of quotas within the national cricket team. But then I realized that we already have that in international cricket. The South African national team has so called "transformation quotas" which calls for 7 non-white players in the national squad playing XI. Most of the top performers in South African domestic cricket are white players. But these guys will never get a chance to represent their country. Anyway, these sort of policies will never be implemented in Asian countries. No one supports such quotas here.

It may be funny for many people but it's a serious concern for people living in South Africa who are for decades abused by white supremacy. Top performers of SA are no doubt white du Plessis, de kock but what's there use when they prefer IPL while national squad losing to weak team like Bangladesh in ODI series at home.
