That's a nice question. I don't know it's probably excitement and hobby I think.
Of course there are some thoughts of "quick money", but not for the money itself or the rich part, I think it's more related with the excitement part of winning/losing something.

They do have a lot of disorders like low self esteem and many others, but their IQ is not a problem.
They usually prefer gambling that involves skill like poker, sports betting, and recently, trading of stocks, so they can't have a low IQ.
The other disorders is what makes gambling a problem.

I really did not expect that result, my worst scenario was a draw for St Etienne, since they were doing decent at home. Marseille had an advantage over St. Etienne in the last years on the head to head, but I did not give to much credit to that. My bad.

Yep I got messed up with this one as well. But we were a little unlucky on this one. That late goal messed it all up, oh well maybe next time.

I think you touch a key point there. It's not just about the money, since it's more and more often that we see even average teams getting huge investors, but if they are not top ranked teams with history some players will just refuse to go there and play, even when they are payed a lot.
And even on those top teams you mentioned, some very big players still only agree to go to United or Chelsea.

I agree with you, and the odds are quite nice for a under 3.5.
The teams are very different but it's like you said, inter does not score those many goals, so it seems like a good bet.

For now I have no problems with lag, at least in the pc, so I think I will do fine on the phone/tablet.
The semi-transparent gamepad seems like a nice idea.

(this won't help with the responsiveness though, players just need to be close to the game servers and have good interent connectons / not download anything)

hmm I wonder how you will do this. Like point and click? Or trace a path for it. I'm so used to play it on keyboard, that I don't know how it will go on a touch screen. "I like" when I get stuck because I pressed the wrong key, it's part of the skill, and I think that will go away with a touch device.

I think there are two things. The hope to win big, or easy money, and the rush when you gamble. Even with a good control of emotions there is always a little rush I think, that in the right level will not stop you from making good decisions when gambling.

For me there is no safe method in gambling. There are 2 very important points that would help any gambler control their losses or even enter in profit, that is a good bankroll management (this is crucial to survive the variance and profit in the long term), and leave emotions out of gambling so you always know what you are doing.
