Would be nice to be able to BIP38 encrypt existing address so that major coin days don't get destroyed by the needs to move from old address to the new address. Wink

Nice, tho I assume that it will be hosted(?) I dig that it can be offline to.

It's not hosted.  It's just a single html file with all the scripts embedded that you run offline.

Can someone explain the relationship between "your weight" and the "network weight" for XC ?

Also can someone explain why 50-500 is the best amount for staking ?

I see that many big wallet just stake 50k plus coins in one address. And some articles suggest that more coins generate more weight and therefore shorten the time before reward.

Can someone explain why ?
Because it's random and the more wallets you have the better chance you have of staking? could be wrong.

stake is 3.3% per year. that the amount you gonna get for 1 year of staking, its only random the times and amounts when you get them. from this point of view it doesnt matter the amount you stake in 1 wallet, you will get 3.3% interest for it in 1 year.

The benefits of having it in smaller chunks is that you can still move coins around without worrying about resetting the clock when you do need to move coins.

Why is the thread so inactive today?

Come on people do something.
*Pokes with stick*

Last days of summer.   Probably out enjoying themselves. Wink

If you guys added a Turing complete smart contract system into XC to compete with Ethereum that would make this currency automatically worth 10 times more.

I don't see why XC can't do that in the future as Dan gets all the basics completed after REV 3...  hopefully it will have an IL like .net so it can support multiple languages.

I would like to stake 500 XC for us at least for now so is it fairly easy to download and stake? I have a windows 8. Smiley

sorry, qiwoman, i've been afraid to do it ...thought i might mess up or my computer would crash or something. good luck  Cheesy did you get a pm set up? wanted to send you one through the initial chaos but sent it to silver with instructions to forward. he probably forgot ...i know he was busy at the time! anyway, i support fresh and innovative ideas which is what i see you are about. and so, know i am in support of you!

1. Just download from: http://xc-official.com/xc-downloads/
2. Make a receive address
3. Withdraw from exchange to that address
4. Encrypt wallet
5. Back up wallet to something... USB, cloud, whatever
6. Unlock wallet and check staking only
7. Enjoy more XC

HEY are you saying that I must encrypt wallet to stake??

No, you must encrypt the wallet for safety. If someone gets your unencrypted wallet.dat, they can steal your coins.

This ^^.   Not encrypting it is like throwing your wallet outside on the street with all your cash in there.    I encrypt it so at least I don't feel 100% at risk even though I store it in the cloud.

Where also can I find block explorer info and mining instructions?

The Announcement thread doesn't contain these ? Huh

Here you go, XC explorer: http://chainz.cryptoid.info/xc/#!rich

The first one is better IMO.

Here is another one:

Thanks, just woke up & only have my phone to follow the news
I like external storage,  no real size limits.
Did synechist also mention the api somewhere,  can we use our own wallet to upload to the network?

Good question. Our initial technology will allow advertisers and other clients to buy XC's services via a webpage or API, and so there will be ways and means to filter content.

Oh WAIT so XC is doing what ethereum is TRYING to do - and without the IPO.  Oh, and XC already has the product to show for it.

Feel bad if you bought Ether IPO.

No.  XC is not trying to do what Ethereum is trying to do.

And Ethereum has already delivered a development language, dev tools, browser, and touring blockchain all pre-launch.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVupNB_uFwk

I'm happy you guys are proving blockchain advertising or whatever.  But it's not the same as a touring complete blockchain that Eth's trying to build.  Why does everybody in crypto turn into chearleaders with pom poms and have no clue what's going on?

*Grunt*  And no.  Before I get accused of shilldom - I don't own any Ethers.

Blockchain advertising is just the FIRST app to utilize the XC architecture... XC will allow distributed bloc chain based apps.. same shit as ether man.  The difference is.. ETHER still does not exist  XC does

unprecedented possibilities lie in XC!

I think that XC is doing what Ethereum is planning to do, in the general sense of utilising the blockchain for web 3.0, smart contract, etc. However:

- XC has launched already.

- XC has realised the importance of privacy and has incorporated this into its core architecture. As far as I know this is not a core focus in Ethereum.

- XC does not plan a Turing-complete scripting language; instead, there will be other ways (which I won't disclose now) for third parties to harness XC's platform.
If understand it correct this tech I still in development. If so, any ETA?
Also can you clarify the entry of information?  In the website or API: Are we talking about a wallet api to store  or a website?

How about the data
, will it be stored in the chain or some hash/index to proof its unaltered? If so what are the limits?

Will this change anything in regards to a mobile wallet, eg blockchain size?

The content won't be stored on the blockchain, since that'll cause some crazy bloat. If I'm not mistaken it'll be indexed on the blockchain, retrieved through accessing the blockchain, and stored (encrypted) in local storage available to Xnodes.

I hope everyone is happy with this announcement. We hope that our collaboration will endure long into the Future. Smiley. Did I just witness an XC price hike?

The announcement is definitely another game changer. But personally, I really hope the collaboration with qibuck is not longterm. The more association your coin has with XC, the more you stand to gain, and the more we stand to lose.

I don't see it that way.   XC has the tech (Xnode or better known to companies today as cloud service).    QBK is just using our tech (client that uses our Xnode/cloud service) to earn revenues that will also benefit XC.   XC can sell their tech service to any one....

So as XC coin holders, do we benefit by the added QBK nodes? Do we get interest from them as well?

I would hope that the more "clients" we get to use our XNodes, the more fees we will collect.   I am sure Dan and team have all this in their mind.

Do other people need to know your XChat details before they are able to receive your messages?

They need to know both your address and pubkey.  Not hard to have a white pages somewhere that list all these info in the future though.
Can you link it to me?

How do you delete people out of XChat? Because I can only add them to my address book.

Delete address out of address book?  Just go to address book, right click the one you want to delete and click delete.
No, I mean this:
http://i.gyazo.com/bb850901b3e99b2b5c6a8377f323bb34.png

There is no delete functionality now.  Think you will have to manually delete chat.dat from %appdata%\xcurrency for now.

Ah... you mean like a much more user friendly way for non-programmers (which means more of the population = more usage = more fees earned).   Grin

Sorry - but this seems a lot more than just "advertising". The bit of eth about being able to write your own marriage contract
in python is probably far less important to the average joe than being able to deliver and store content in a distributed way. For example micro-pay-per-view
content would be presumably a piece of piss to arrange if the x-nodes are extracting a fee to deliver it.

Unless I'm missing something - this is a lot different than building a programmable blockchain.  Storing content inside the blockchain really isn't what Ethereum is trying to do.  It's a relational contract programming language.

Yes I don't think I'm disagreeing with you on that at all - the goals of ethereum are different to this.

Of course that doesn't mean XC "platform" plan don't include a language to take advantage of the blockchain tech that XC will also have....

Can someone please explain to a noob why this is a big deal?  Thanks

This means web content that is distributed over the blockchain rather than being held on a server. The blockchain will effectively be the
server for content, and everyone running the blockchain - i.e. the x-nodes - will benefit. Correct me if I'm wrong but the implications seem f***ing huge.

This is like the nextgen Tor + BT....   Once you launch the content on there, there is no stopping it.

seems http://chainz.cryptoid.info/xc/#!rich is not correct. I removed everything from address #7 into address #8 over a month ago!... LOL but they both show as having 2.03% of coins!! that disrupts the top 10 addresses by a pretty large margin making it look like the rich are holding more than actuality.

How did you move it?  Did you go through Mintpal?   From this..., it doesn't show that you even moved your coins out from this address.   http://chainz.cryptoid.info/xc/address.dws?68037.htm

Did you find the transaction that you moved the coins out from that address?

Yes, I moved through Mintpal which is the problem... Here is the transaction out of MP into rich list #8--- http://chainz.cryptoid.info/xc/tx.dws?170570.htm

I can see that from the blockchain.  How about the transaction from #7 to Mintpal?

http://chainz.cryptoid.info/xc/address.dws?68037.htm   This doesn't show the coins moving out.
