Is it going to be based on XMPP or custom protocols?
What about delays and jitter which would be enormous in multihop P2P and likely leading to unsatisfactory call quality?

I think he knows what he's doing.   Grin

Yep, but that's slightly different thing. Large scale wireless without packet loss is great, but P2P for voice is pretty much different as you deal with peers who could have bad Internet connections, introducing high delays and jitter. It is likely that voice call would be routed via multiple peers for increased security causing delays and jitter multiplication which is killing for real-time apps like voice/video calls.

Totally realistic approach, but then again better have him working on it than some anonymous dev... Team has already announced a lot of exciting collaborations, we can only imagine what might be happening in the background, perhaps if some big player joins this and provides the resources I feel the team can achieve anything, they have already delivered so much. I am desperately trying to trade my way up.

This ^^

Not that mesh network and p2p voice/video calling are the same thing.  But, with his previous experience in the mobile field, I have all the confidence in the world that he knows what he is dealing with and has already thought about the complexity of the problem at hand.

This is not like some unknown dev came out and suddenly announce that they are going to produce a decentralized skype with absolutely no previous background, but at least a dev that has been there before in the field.

***The XC Daily Update***

Hello all

It's been confirmed by the developers that XChat will include voice calling in post-Rev 3 editions, and video calling further into the future.

So basically we have a decentralised, private, Skype.

Here's to the future!

Good lord!  Feel like my head is about to explode.

So you are telling me when this is all completed we could install the XCurrency App on our phone run an XNode automatically while staking at the same time and have private Skype functionality?!?!?

Yes, that is what they are telling you.

AFK while I sell my house...

Precisely.

XC's design has had mobile platforms in mind from the outset.

BTW, should that email icon be a chat bubble icon instead or is this another hint?

125,000 XC premine?

That is quite a hefty premine if you ask me.

2.27% of all coins to exist in the form of a premine.

Sorry gonna pass on this one.

Have you even seen what the team is like and the plans that they have for the delivery?

I am actually surprised they will do so much for so little premine.   This is not like other coins where the premine just gets dumped.   The XC team has so many things going on, I kinda wish they have more premine so the coin's success will be a bigger motivator for them....

nice buy wall at 153 Smiley it seems that we are going up slowly but steady Smiley

Wo.. 35 btc.   Guess someone got sick of waiting to get their buy order filled when no one with large amount of XC is selling.  Grin

Cryptoland is a strange world. Don't get it.  After Dan's code and review, Keycoin up almost 200% and XC almost 15%.  Huh? Also volume has skyrocketed on Keycoin? XC is still superior in so many ways.  I guess patience is a virtue as they say.

I feel more secure with my money in XC than bitcoin at the mo. keycoin being 200% up could soon be 200% down. look on coinmarketcap, all the coins have been up and down XC has been steady... slight rise though over all...

perhaps i'm deluded but were onto a winner here!

The great thing is.  After knowing that Dan gave it a good review... I made like 4x profit from my investment in Key.  So now... I have more btc to get more XC. Smiley

fair play man, i wish i knew that Dan was gonna give this review and i woulda done the same! but i think my point still stands... u recon keycoin is gonna stay up??

Don't know, any coins besides XC is just a number game to get more btc to get more XC.   The pop from yesterday feel "to me" is unsustainable.   Will it be at the end?  Don't know myself, but I just have to take profits in case it crash back down.

Would advise people to add their XChat address to their footer to show the other communities as you post in them.   That way, they will wonder what is this XChat thing is.
472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy / Encrypted XChat / Privacy Platform on: July 30, 2014, 10:54:06 AM
ANYONE selling xc please hop on to mintpal! I have set my orders up! I already bought up 500k nxt because there is no one selling xc
even when I set my buys with the highest bid! still need about 40btc of xc.

Who in their right frame of mind that has a lot of XC will want to sell now?    Wink   If they are not in their right frame of mind, they wouldn't have that much XC to begin with.   Tongue

When XC is ready for release, the XC rise will make the Cloak rise today look like a small bump on the road.
473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy / Encrypted XChat / Privacy Platform on: July 30, 2014, 10:27:08 AM
Hoertest, generosity is a virtue, and virtues have long-term and short-term benefits. There's absolutely no need to be less than virtuous, ever.

There is little doubt in my mind that Dan's review will be beneficial to all parties, and mostly to XC.

You showed public interest in cloak some days ago. look where cloak is now and how beneficial it was to us.

Hmm... so don't you think it's the BEST time to jump on those coins, make the profits and then use those profits to buy more XC...   which part of that obvious profit potential do you not see?
474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy / Encrypted XChat / Privacy Platform on: July 30, 2014, 09:41:16 AM
Some drunken rambling removed...

How in any way shape and form do you feel that XC is less competitive than Key coin in anyway?   We have the best business plan and PR like you said...  XC will be way ahead at the end.   That doesn't mean I have to dump every single one of my savings into XC....   I have massive amount of XC and didn't sell any to get Key....    I invest in a lot of coins.   Calling someone a weak hand when you really have no idea how people are investing...  boy get sober dude.

You really think that Dan's credential won't come back as a reward at the end of the day?   Go sleep it off and think about it clearly.

Hey guys, just swinging by from the KEY thread! First I'd like to say that although I never held XC in the past, I always heard Dan Metcalf spoken very highly of. His peer review today of KEY's technology was a really stand-up move on his part -- I'm sure he's very busy with development on XC as it is. It's fantastic to see collaboration between so-called "competitors" in cryptocurrency, and hopefully this is something that can become a trend in the future. Competition breeds innovation, but cooperation is a fantastic way to refine those ideas into solid and stable features that can benefit users and investors alike.

I'll be picking up some XC in the very near future, primarily due to Dan's show of goodwill. Thanks for letting us borrow him!  Wink

I also picked up some Key coins due to solid review from Dan.   There's always room for more than one coin in anyone's portfolio.     Also, you for sure won't regret picking up XC.   You just might regret not picking up enough in the future  Wink

FFS.  Can we PLEASE don't feed the troll.  Don't quote him, don't reply to him.   Feeding the trolls just feed their ego.

Is that what you want to do?   Because replying to them just accomplish that.

So, let's stop ok?

I have a question for the dev. With only a 4-5 day PoW period, how do you plan on securing your block chain or having hash power in order to process transactions? Obviously no one will keep their miners running on the network when no more PoW coins are being generated.

Hmm... do you know what POW/POS coins are?

Hello all

Today,
- Dan and Christian are working on... undisclosed tech

- Rob and I have been discussing media strategy for said undisclosed tech

- And you should retweet, like/share, and generally spread the following:

"Imagine instant messages did not disclose your IP, used no-one's servers, and left no trace on your computer. #XC #XChat #privacy #byebyeNSA"

Cheers pal!  Wish u could give eta, I'm getting excited,  but understand you can't.

What do you think about the paper Wallet conversation? Team got it planned?  Would you like someone from the community to do it if they can?

I like the idea. Anything that makes XC more concrete and physical is great.

By all means, community members are welcome to go for it.

If anyone makes a paper wallet generator, it's probably best to contact me or Dan afterwards. We could check the code, get a great UI designed, etc.

It has already been done. Just need a few edits on https://github.com/pointbiz/bitaddress.org and customise for XC.

Think you meant this:  http://cryptolife.net/upwg/

The github one is for Bitcoin address only.   This one you just need to set the decimal version to 75.

The only issue I found so far is that in order to view wallet details of a private key, you must use a BIP38 encrypted private key, or else it will say it's not a valid private key.

Calm before the storm, its been almost a month since REV 2.. I think we are all just waiting now to see "whats next" in an official sense.... I can't wait but trying to just be patient...

Hey, at least it's not like other scam coins where you have to wonder every night before you go to sleep if it will even be worth 1 satoshi when you wake up.   You just know that in the long run, XC will be way beyond anything it is today.  Just wish time can pass faster so we can see the end result already.
