***The XC Daily Update***

Soon XC will add a new layer of privacy based on your XChat address.

XChat addresses are soon to be implemented as "stealth addresses" to which people can send payments.

This means that you'll receive payment on a different address that not even the sender knows.

As such, you can publicly display your XChat address as a kind of cryptographic "business card" for both payments and messages, without anything being linked to it on the blockchain!

Finally, combining this with Privacy Mode will conceal the amounts sent to this address.

Here's to the future!

Wo... that is pretty awesome stuff right there.   You mean it can be like a public stealth address that I don't even have to regen every time?   That blows all the other coins that requires "stealth" addresses....

Synechist,

I sent you a message on XChat, just wondering if you got it...?

sent from - XJkVnYD4N4oSjNStgbAUD6UyWuBTWuMRgv.

my public key - fuYPYmK4Sj57PkU2NKg1gKW91euMKkstQPeeexUcxnb8

or if anyone else is about and can send me a message just to test?

cheers Smiley

Sent

what did you write? I only got a "Hi there" so far, so presuming that was braxx unless you wrote the same? lol

Just sent again.  Lemme know if you got it.

got it and replied. Smiley

how long do the messages take? did someone do a speed test the other day?

The speed is nearly instantaneous.  I tested it with two VM on two different computers in two countries.   It's as fast as any regular online messenger like Skype and Google Talk.

Is there any documentation avail yet on how to use the XChat feature?  Sorry if already asked, I could not find.

1. On the "Receive Coins" tab, create a new address and label it "Chat" or something.

2. Copy your address and paste it into the "from" field on the "Messages" tab (use the "paste" icon to the right of the field).

3. Copy someone's address and paste it into the "to" field (use the icon again).

4. Copy someone's public key and paste it into the "key" field.

5. Write a message.

P.S. Fully unlock your app before doing all this.

ok, i've totally been resisting technology for MANY moons but with the hope of a TOR stick signed by Dan i find myself up for the headache ...i did #1, don't see a messages tab, under "receive coins" i hit "sign message" tab but don't see "from", "to", and "key" fields ...sorry, plz advise.

You need to be on the latest test wallet that actually has a messages tab at the top.
thought i did, downloaded from arlyns "download xchat" link this morning. under programs it looks like i have version 2.47d ...downloads on xc website are not self explanatory considering my technological ineptitude.

I just downloaded the setup.exe which has chat included in it, if thats any help.

so website, downloads, and the just download setup.exe
teehee, getting closer! thanks, you guys.

if you wanna test the chat, send me a message on the address I posted a few posts ago Wink

You should also put it in your sig too.  Help spread the words!   and... it's needed to have a chance to win the Tor stick.

Will do.  Wink

Did you get my reply?

Yup, can't wait for the notifications to be added in.   Then the chatting will just be like Skype, but private. Wink

the final XChat needs some sort of notification (maybe color change or small icon) when a message is received/read.

It definitely will have notifications.

and skinning/themes UI?

I'm not really sure at the moment. I don't see why not.

Though when XC goes mobile the "skinning" paradigm will be replaced with colour themes/whatever mobile OSes support in terms of customisation.

Yes, that sounds good.  It's all about the bling to attract more users to XC. Smiley

So what's left to complete ReV2.5? is it just the undisclosed privacy feature?

Morning Leigh!

The undisclosed privacy feature is what's left to finalise the Rev 2 phase of development.

For Rev 2.5, basically XChat will become as user-friendly as it needs to be if it's going to hit the mainstream.

So Rev 2.5 will start with a preview of the new UI and build from there.

YES YES A NEW UI!!! I am sick of these boring looking bitcoin rippoff UI look. Make some eye candy for me to look at!

Hopefully it will support skinning so the communities can design some wicked skins  Wink

I would like to test something...

I made myself a vanity adress for xchat
would someone please try to contact me over xchat?

adress: XCHATsLztdvJxb2BkrgVuoq7uoC73u6ghj
pubkey: Ro4rYufnJy7RYFnuJBaD1iz5Rrr8o77fyKbcnkAbqC57JCS148WVMabshBjHd1JsZGoJ2JZtj6LYtfP e8bavoY51

(I've noticed that my pub key is really long, that's why I want to test this)

If it works I'll explain it in a tutorial

Just reminder, we are looking at this from a somewhat democratic country. Here is another thing to consider: what if you lived in a country like libya? What if you wanted to start a 'coup'? What if you worried about the lives of your family?

Before Libya's total destruction, thanks to the satanic governments which aim NWO, this same Libya took good care for its citizens - the government used to pay students' education in the best universities, to build quality cities' infrastructure, to give away free apartments for those in need, to give away to its citizens percent of the profit from each barrel, and (probably most importantly) to create the biggest water channel in the deserts, thus turning the deserts into agricultural land.

The anon chat is a great idea, still not sufficient to stop the genocide that all those satanic governments, that "hold" the world peace but never stop killing people all over the planet, offer. So please, don't sound so dramatic.

He mentioned the ability to freely talk in a country that is in conflict without anyone else seeing it, being anon.

You just wrote a hugely over dramatic piece of shit, then accuse him of being dramatic?

THIS ^^

I don't know what _evolution_ is talking about too... Did anyone mentioned that XCurrency is going to fight the war for the people?!?!   It's more like a communication channel for the people that NEEDS to fight the war....
432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XC][XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy Platform / Encrypted XChat / Pos on: August 04, 2014, 05:35:19 PM
yes, I mean it isn't like a IRC chat, where more user are connected and speak together in a main screen!
So why I need to talk to a unknown user directly to him?
Ok I could need some info, and by this I can have a quick answer, but I can have the same posting on the forum.
But I think the better solution will be when it'll be available on a mobile.

The whole idea of XC is privacy.   You know when you are chatting with someone that it's completely private.   No one is snooping on you.   IRC is a public type chat where anyone and everyone can see what you say.

So, if you value privacy, then you will realize that XChat is really valuable.

Right back to the low we were at 3 days ago WTF?

Dang wales.

Heh. Indeed. I'm not sure what would've caused that, emotionally speaking.

I mean, Dan promised a combined XChat and private payments, and it's here.

He didn't say he'd focus on rooting out isolated cases of network issues (which would be a Rev 2 thing), yet one person was complaining about that. Odd.

Perhaps it was a case of a single whale with warped expectations...

I didn't get that too... Dan said he will have an update to combine mainnet with XChat and he delivered yet again and someone said they were disheartened by it???  Hmm... I don't really know what people were expecting....

multisig implemented? from published code, I don't see it at all.

The published code is only v1 which didn't have it.    As you can see, once XC released v1.  Key took it and added to it.   That's why XC must release code on a delayed schedule, otherwise, there are many coins out there that want to take the tech and pretend it's their own invention.

Disheartening again with how late it is on Sunday and no finished release. Price was just on the verge of breaking out too with closes above 185. I'm still incredibly bummed that I cannot test the main feature (private transfers) that was the reason I bought into this coin. Dan and I have been trying to troubleshoot it but we keep getting pushed back with issues that need fixing. *sigh*

If you are so disheartened, please go to Mintpal and sell to my bid now.   Is 4.5 btc enough?

Excuse me? I have substantially more coins than that so don't flatter yourself trying to be an allstar. No one can fault me for being frustrated that a core feature does not work. It may work for most, but most is not all. The fact that Dan is working with me is the sole reason I have not lost faith to where I look at exiting my position but be that as it may, it's still frustrating. Period.

I think the community in general would like to see more actual releases earlier than later in the day. Anyone care to refute that?

You don't sound like you have much because you sound more like a fudster.  Disheartening?   Have you seen how many test release Dan have released today?   You sound more like a pretend holder and sound like you care, but actually fudding in the process.

It's a sunday, why don't you go out and enjoy your time with the family or something.

Dan has seen my balance so we'll leave it at that. But it's nice to see community members attacking fellow community members. Very mature.

Yup, so mature of you to "flaunt" how much XC you have and act like a diva....    I can bet you anything I have more than you if you want to compare size of XC wallet. LOL

What's the difference security wise between a very strong password, and a very strong password + google auth 2fa?

To get past the strong password you'd basically need a keylogger, and if you have that, then you'd also get the google password?

2fa is not a one time password.  it uses a key that changes roughly every 10 seconds.  so they would have to guess your very very long password and then also they would have to guess at precisely the right time the correct code to enter to bypass the 2fa auth.

Its like having 2 locks on your front door.  one has a key for the main lock it unlocks it everytime.  the other lock needs a new key every 10 seconds.  every 10 seconds the lock is switched and u are given a new key.

jsut enable it bro dont be an idiot.

Just googled the google authenticator, and I thought it's just the google account's password you need to type in addition to exchange password, but I thought wrong and apparently it sends the code to a phone instead. I just suspect I'm far more likely to lose/brick my phone than install a keylogger without me knowing, so my funds are actually safer without the 2fa. Smiley

Use Authy, you can have your codes restore if you lose your phone.

The people buying MYR now are probably the ones that had their high sell orders filled by proxy.  The hacker is probably a supporter of both MYR and DRK.

It was MYC not MYR

Oops.. corrected.
