2 gain market cap (enlarging the community through marketing efforts, contact those that are already 8BIT fanatics)
3 attract committed dev (confidence attracts, a developer should not be the source of confidence)
4 continue developments as crypto_graphics suggested
finding a committed dev right now to me is as finding a unicorn, it should be broken down into steps.
how much effort is it to gain control? can someone assess this please?
i would think the easy thing to do is a coin swap, but not sure how the exchanges would react to that. Don't need a coin swap... Someone just needs to fork the coin, and the community needs to entirely switch to the new fork. |

I see the community support, but I also see a bunch of newly created accounts, just shilling "takeover, and +1". I will continue to see how this pans out. Some thought and a proposal on how to revitalize 8BIT First and foremost, I believe it vital to re-brand 8BIT with a new look. The space invader alien was taken from a Google image search and is literally the fourth image displayed when you search "8BIT". This lack of creativity reflects poorly on our community and only fuels the fire that this coin is a scamcoin. I took some time and illustrated a new logo. This is a work in progress and please leave any feedback you may have. New original logo: Revision 0  Second, we need a new wallet practically built from the ground up. Please look at the roadmap below: DISREGARD THE GRAPHIC DESIGN OF THIS TEMPLATE, what is important are the features pinpointed. Again, work in progress. 8BIT ROADMAP: Revision 0  Please keep in mind slides 4-8 will have to be web driven. I own the domain for 8bitcoin.org and will be more than happy to devote my time into getting these sites off the ground. Purchase 8BIT - Links to exchanges trading 8BIT. A devoted exchange to strictly 8BIT would be nice, I'm not sure if that is possible. Games / Store - I know the big question in everyone's mind is how the games section will work. What I am visioning is a enormous library of Unity driven games that can be streamed within the wallet using the Unity Player Plugin. You can't even begin to compare 8bit to litecoin. While you have some point (that Litecoin is older) you are again very wrong. Litecoin is still here and it has millions of $ volume every single day. The fact that Litecoin is still here should ring a bell to you. If you want more comparisons other than the one with operating systems, I can give you one more. Benz invented automobile and then again, you can buy Renault packed with full extras way cheaper than basic Mercedes. Which do you think is the better car? Everything up until now works. If we can add value through marketing then we can bypass the dev issue for a while.
Once value is there a situation can form through a healthy dynamic, instead of this helpless situation.
Dev can be appointed, new coin, fork, coin swap. I don't know all the trick that could be pulled. Important is that it is hard to find someone to pick up a turd. Sure TradeMaster has presented himself, but who can judge his commitment? No offense, to Trademaster, but if there is a priori value, a new p&d scheme to me would be less likely.
Just my 2 cents.
This is very wrong approach imho. How can you promote a coin if you don't know a way fixing it in case something happens? I can assure you that finding a good developer is not very easy and this should be your first step as community. P.S. I'm still not saying that the original dev disappeared... time will tell. I'm not aware of all the threats there are in crypto currencies, I'm in no position to assess this. If 8Bit fuctions much like an artefact what can go wrong, though? I agree finding a good developer is the most important thing. But what is most important is not necessarily the most urgent, just throwing out ideas. I think you're both confused.

A takeover with a motivated developer could add value to the coin. a developer does not add value, BTC does, he can lead the way to market entry but does not finance the coin himself. right now the coin can still be postioned as a fad without further developements.
