We need a better easier implementation of the masternodes. I don't know why I cannot easily just setup a masternode . I have everything in place for that, but yet it doesn't work and I cannot make it work. lets get what is actually enabled in this coin to work properly with little effort.  for you people that will say I don't know what im doing etc.. instead just give me some examples how you overcame my obstacles instead. If im the only one other than dbs that has had this problem.. then I'd say out of the 200 odd users this coin has a long way to go for adoption.

Nowhere near 200 users.  Just 200 masternodes!

I wonder what happened to the masternode contest?

Care to comment MasterTrader?

agreed, I see some ip addresses with multiple instances of mn running.. are those only Linux models?

Nope, I have 10 nodes on a windows based aws server.

The masternodes appear to be functioning properly, its usually your ISP blocking the connection when you've properly forwarded the port and it's still not working.

Yes, torrents and game server will make this the best code in existence!

Agreed.  But what's the incentive for me to seed torrents from my masternodes?

You get paid! If 8bit was worth 50 bucks a piece and you earned 0.88 a day it would be worth it I think.

I get paid for running a masternode anyway...

And it would take a miracle to see $50/ coin.

You have no vision. ..

I have plenty of vision.  That's just unrealistic.  There is no buy support, no volume, and no use for 8bit right now.

The currency is inflating pretty rapidly too...

As I've said before, I don't care about the price.  That will improve with development and distribution.

I'm just ready to see the developer's vision.
Why would I seed torrents?  What files will be shared?  Where will these files be stored?

The roadmap is vague.  I want to know where this is going and how its going to get there.

I want to know what incentives one will have for hosting game servers and seeding torrents from his masternodes

How does this all tie together?  What will give 8bit value?

In game purchases will create demand. Demand means higher cost. You are hosting a masternode already which pays you. Eventually they will have a purpose.

Obviously, but will in game purchases be the only thing giving 8bit value?

What gives bitcoin value?

Inventing blockchain technology / mass adoption / merchants / media / and people that are actually willing to buy it.

Realistically, marketing is the answer. Games are marketable.

What if there was an mmo development toolkit that allowed others to design and host their own games on 8bit masternode servers?

That would create demand.

There is currently no demand for 8bit.

Mega Hype is definitely a bad thing... But no hype at all is just as bad.

And what if the game sucks...  Then 8bit has no value?

What will the game even be?  Does the developer know what the story for the mmo will be?  How will people interact?

This is what I'm talking about.  You can act like you know what's going on here all day, but the reality of the situation is that none of us have the slightest clue.

It's wierd you haven't asked those questions before, if you are soo skeptical.

Been asking for weeks, actually.  Take a look back.
1670  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [*] 8BIT [Dark Masternodes][Anon][Roadmap Stage 4] on: May 03, 2015, 08:25:03 PM
Everybody chill.  Dev probably has a job, a family, a life, and it's the weekend.  Yes, the darksend code is public, but it still has to be integrated into the 8bit code and tested.  Be appreciative that the dev is communicating.

He said every stage on the roadmap would take a week.

So you think that he wouldn't have a screenshot of the 8bit mmo at this point?

Or be able to explain what services can be hosted on the masternodes network?

I've asked these questions several times and have not gotten a response.

I said each stage will take a week give or take.
I will not release a code that could be unsafe,
or cause someone's wallet to be hacked.
let me finish working on it and solve the issues.
I will update when I am done.

The only thing you just responded to were my concerns about your timeline, which are the least of my worries.

Can you provide proof that the 8bit mmo is in development?

Can you talk about what services are going to be available on the masternodes?

The roadmap is incredibly vague.

It just isn't that hard to answer these questions, and I've asked them for weeks.  You avoid them.

8BIT is only two weeks old, and the game will be a simple MMO game that uses the
masternodes as game servers, this will be done to show what kind of services masternodes
can provide. I will not code full game project in one week. I still have to implement code to
allow hosting and file sharing on masternodes, before I even start coding the game.
This coin I made for 8BIT fans and the development is part of that.

So development hasn't begun on the 8Bit game...

What about Torrent seeding / file sharing?
What's the incentive?

What about stage 5?  How do you plan to market?
How big is the development team?

Do you have any idea how long it takes to write and implement code?

It doesn't take long to fork something.

There isn't any unique code in 8bit yet.

Disclaimer:  I haven't sold one coin.  There is just zero transparency here.

Whoa whoa calm down guys. First of all thank you dev for your hard work. Secondly, many of you inexperienced guys have not sat through a new coin. Many new coins take weeks to get basic things implemented. You can't expect overnight profits. This dev has gone the extra mile on this coin and is working at an amazing pace. If it takes a few extra hours or even a day to make sure the code is perfect please take it. We would appreciate a heads up when you are falling behind. It gives us confidence that you are still here for the project. The last thing i want to see is someone get on here throwing a fit that someone stole their coins due to a dev who is more interested in profits than in a good coin. This is a multimillion dollar project, but only if there aren't any hiccups.

I'm not worried about the time frame at all.

I'm worried that there is nothing but copying and pasting going on here.

Most coins are copy paste. The price will not go up by the dev casually mentioning ideas he is working on. There has to be actual progress. I'm sure the dev knows that. So, the dev either has to provide an update to sell out or take a loss and disappear. Which is more preferable?

I'm not worried about the price.

I'm worried that no actual development is taking place.

I'ts really hard to build a community for a coin where people really have no clue what's going on.

What are you talking about? We are light years ahead of most coins already.

How so?  We have masternodes and HiPoS.  Thanks Crave/Dark!

That's nothing.

cannot seem to get masternode to work. I followed the suggestions in OP but when I input 'masternode start' in console, I keep getting "not capable masternode: Could not connect to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9999"   any idea whats wrong?  Windows 7, and I have 8bit open in firewall

Did you open port 9999 on your router/modem?

yes, sent exactly 112 8bit to an address in my wallet, generated the masternode key, etc.. just cant seem to get past the error

Meh, I had the same problem.

I eventually threw in the towell and got an aws instance

meh.. I give up.. wallets should not have this issue. out of 200 coins I have setup , this one has stumped me. I even ran a dmz and no go. I suspect its something else. Is the wallet im running the latest?  v2.0.0.0-g

I'm sure your ISP is blocking that port..

That would be the correct wallet version

There is no proof that the developer is working on anything.

And Darksend doesn't take an entire week to implement by any means.

I'd love to hear the Dev talk about what he's going to do.
Show us pictures of the MMO...
Talk about what Proof of Service means... Etc.

No one here has the slightest clue about what the fuck is going on with 8Bit but the Dev, and that's horrible communication in my book.
