Where is the road map then? A road map contains for example: -------------------------------- Feature A @ January 2016 Feature B @ February 2016 Feature C @ March 2016 ...and so on This would allow to see whether development goals are met. It does differ from Blakecoin. Blakecoin uses 8 round blake-256, which sacrifices an acceptable level of security for speed. Decred will be using 14 round blake-256, which is overkill for security but still fast. Both nvidia and ati cards seem to do pretty well with blake-256 |

Does high hashoutput per watt really have an effect on security? I thought because of difficulty, it wouldn't matter.
I'd say it's more of an efficiency thing... Look at the Wikipedia page on "law of large numbers" to see why it benefits miners. The fact that GPUs do so well with the blake-256 algo does make it more difficult to attack the network with botnets. Think about it. You get gh/s on a gpu... That's a lot of hashpower for very little electricity. A tip for miners: blake-256 isn't very memory intensive, so under clock your gpu memory to improve mining efficiency. |

they would need the same 8 round Blake-256 and same wallet hashing + auxpow they have been asked and said: Hi there, BlueDragon747. While you make some compelling arguments for using 8 or 10 round Blake256 instead of 14 rounds, we are not interested in having Decred merge mined with other Blake256 coins. This choice was intentional and 14 rounds was chosen to be be conservative about security.
so no merge mine(auxpow) and using 14 round Blake-256 = it can never be merged with current coins on pools! That really is a shame... Auxpow is the future. |

No miner released yet. The miner is a fork of an older version of cgminer with a rewritten kernel. It's been built for both AMD and NVIDIA cards, but it's likely that an optimized miner for NVIDIA cards will take a little finesse and a fork of ccminer. I hope you guys can port this to FPGA like Blakecoin. I understand that it's not the same iteration of Blake-256, but FPGA mining would be excellent for Decred. People don't realize just how promising Blake-256 is for the long run. It's fast, secure, and easy / cheap to manufacture asics for when the time comes. For the time being, it should help people to maximize mining returns due to its low power consumption and high hash output / watt. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_large_numbersHigh hashrate per watt is always a good thing and having one secure algo rather than a chained algo like X11 was the right call. I personally would like to see 8 round Blake-256 used so merge mining with the other coins using Blake-256 would be a possibility, but regardless, I'm excited about your project and the possible implications it will have for crypto as a whole.
