dude!
19342  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The Bitcoin Revolution on: July 04, 2011, 01:15:51 AM
first off I'd just like to express my gratitude to all the people who believe in bitcoin.

I look at this forum everyday to find out how bitcoin continues to grow. and i must say i am truly impressed. It seems almost everyday someone announces a new step forward for bitcoin. the new Canadian exchange, bit-pay, the many retail sites that accept bitcoin. it is truly amazing what you all have accomplished.

We all fell in love with bitcoin for its potential to give us more freedom, and to take away power from where it does not belong. We have set our self's a lofty goal. But i have No doubt we will achieve it and even surpass it.

this is my way of helping.

Keep up the godly work!

wait 2 hours.... and then panic! Tongue
19344  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bye Bitcoin! on: July 04, 2011, 12:12:43 AM
I think your are totally underestimating the new generation.
When i was 14 i was on the top of the ladder on Diablo2 and i was selling my items on ebay.
my gril friend has 0 geek blood in her and she has a nice little farm on farmville
she can even log into her online bank.
she thinks bitcoin is stupid. but that's probably because iv been talking to her about bitcoin to much  Tongue

i'm from Canada and i don't know anyone that can't understand simply things like hitting a send button and pasting in an address
19345  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Expect bitcoin to be "banned" - expect the ban to be ignored on: July 03, 2011, 11:57:34 PM
They can't bet us, and so they will join us.  Grin

Banks will give us a hell of a fight, that much is to be expected....everyone hopes Bitcoin is the beginning of the end for the banks.

but what can they really do?

i expect a totally unexpected turn of events for bitcoin. Tongue
19346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ATTENTION: Any exchange right now can act like a bank on: July 03, 2011, 11:41:35 PM
When Mt gox was on The bitcoin show they briefly described the ultimate solution to this very problem. Simply put "Decentralized Exchange" working on the same principle as bitcoin. this solution would eliminate the need to trust an organization. i hope mt gox will be able to achieve such a trading system.
19347  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Is now the time to be investing money into advertising Bitcoin? on: July 03, 2011, 09:39:40 PM
I think if a bitcoin commercial were to come out now now.

the price of bitcoin would rise a few dollars due to more demand.

but we all know we only get one change to make a first impression, if we get a few thousand poeple all excited about bitcoin, and then disappoint them that would hurt bitcoin.

maybe the idea for marketing right now, should be getting major retailers on board.

retailers who accept VISA have to pay 1% fee or maybe more idk.

with bitcoin their is no fee, (well wait a minute all every exchange has a 1% fee on withdraw)

maybe they should offer a better deal for retailers?

we should make it so retailers CAN'T say no

19348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Huge Television Ad for Bitcoin on All the Major Networks on: July 03, 2011, 09:04:58 PM
Wow.    You new people in the forum have become such cynics....    That's sad.

Anyway...

My vision of what the commercial would NOT be about:

  • bitcoin as an investment / it would not mention that at all / not at all
  • political or philosophical benefits of bitcoin / again, no mention at all

My vision of what the commercial WOULD be about:

  • easy to use
  • no transaction fees
  • transactions that can't bounce or incur chargebacks
  • no need for bank approval
  • you can start using bitcoin within seconds with no technical skills necessary
  • the world's first decentralized currency
  • the world's first currency with a limited supply, yet extremely divisible

On the topic of Facebook, I am working on a simple, yet brilliant   Wink  project there too....   I'll post about that soon.

do you have a time frame for us?
I'm sure everyone will want to know a few weeks in advance before it airs
I for one will want to buy a few more bitcoins right before  Tongue
19349  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Any Canadian bitcoin buyers or sellers try Virtex Exchange yet? on: July 03, 2011, 03:12:00 PM
are they on the bitcoin charts?
19350  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mtgox hit $2.99 on: July 02, 2011, 03:43:26 PM

Canada already has a GREAT secure, working, cheap (you can withdraw cash to almost any bank with your email address in just 7 hours for $6.50, or $3 directly to a bank account).

They just re-opened their doors today after finalizing all the legal stuff there was to take care of.

I just deposited a bunch a few BTC and everything is going great.

I do still encourage XRcode to build his own exchange however. We can always use another!

whats it called?
19351  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mtgox hit $2.99 on: July 02, 2011, 04:24:12 AM
Thats enough for me lol

I think I will open an exchange for Canadian dollars.
I will look into what kind of accounts will be necessary to facilitate deposit/withdrawl in Canada and maybe make an exchange site.

fuck ya I'll be on that for sure
19352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POLL: what currencie would you like to see Trade hill / Mt Gox suppot on: July 02, 2011, 02:22:58 AM
Imo the less the better (keeps the orderbooks more liquid), whenever i withdraw from Mtgox it does an automatic USD>EUR>NOK and i don't see a problem with that.

i don't understand...

are you saying Mtgox can send me CAD$ when i cash out?
19353  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New Bitcoin Marketplace needs Sellers for pre-launch! on: July 02, 2011, 02:13:49 AM

I'm in it for the long term

i bought a few BTC back in the old days when paypal was bitcoin's pal

19357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / POLL: what currencie would you like to see Trade hill / Mt Gox suppot on: July 02, 2011, 01:14:36 AM
Right now we can only trade with USD

Lets put some pressure on trade hill / mt gox to accept our equally shitty currencies for Bitcoins
19358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TradeHill - AUD market is now live. on: July 02, 2011, 01:04:42 AM
Nice.

lets have trade hill support CAD too!

if trade hill accepts many different currencies, this will help bitcoin grow, and will allow businesses from outside of the US to accept bitcoin

keep up the good work guys
19359  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's crack this chicken/egg problem on: July 02, 2011, 12:58:50 AM
Also if the exchanges could be made to trade using all other currencies, like CAD$

this would would make it easy for business to accept bit coin and be able to cash out with out the 20% bank USD$ to CAD$ fee
19360  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin losing value on: July 01, 2011, 11:33:48 PM
was it ever $30?  Huh

yes, 08 JUN 2011 it was 32
