18941  Economy / Auctions / Re: 20 $ Canadain starting at 0.01BTC - bid now! on: November 25, 2011, 05:20:20 AM

1. This should go in Auctions.

2. Why are you doing a 55 day auction? Are you hoping that by the time the auction ends the value of the max bid is higher than the 20 CAD?

I'm willing to bet not one person will place a bid, even with 55 days of adv.
18942  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Mr Coins -- Purchase Bitcoins with your Credit Card [Mt. Gox] [Google Checkout] on: November 25, 2011, 04:37:06 AM
I suggest you add your service here:  http://www.thebitcoinreview.com

Then we can review it.

Hi Burt,

Thanks for the suggestion.

I've listed it: http://www.thebitcoinreview.com/site.php?site_id=788

(I've tried adding contact details a couple of times to the listing but they keep coming up blank. Maybe there is a database delay? Will try again soon.)

Our first couple of days of trading have been quite successful dispite a few minor script bugs. A big thank-you to all Mr Coins customers!

I hope to expand the service in the near future and add additional fraud and chargeback prevention measures.

Cheers,
Richard

anyone can use the edit site button on the page listing.

these edits will be reviewed and then applied

if you own the site you should go to your dashboard and edit the site from there, that way changes will be apply right away

but don't bother, I'm the admin, so i will apply the changes you made using the public edit

its important to give reviews. bitcoin newbies are more likely to adopt the currency if they see it is being used, Post your reviews!

Which ones to avoid
  - e-Wallet services !  (we'll talk about Mybitcoin)

There is no reason to "avoid all ewallet services."  Instawallet has been amazing, reliable, and innovative. BTCinch.com is also really good, and I know the guys who run it personally - they will not be scamming anyone. Flexcoin has also been around quite a while without problems.

With ewallets, people just need to be careful and understand that they're trusting a 3rd party. For small amounts, the ease of ewallets generally outweighs the security concerns. For large amounts, ewallets are probably not prudent.

Mybitcoin was amazing, reliable, and innovative. but they got hacked.

why is Instawallet  or BTCinch any different?

StrongCoin seems very safe.

here's the thing.... if you hack StongCoin you get everyone's bits!

not a half bad incentive to hack away

18947  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Announcement] FreeTradeCollective.org Beta on: November 24, 2011, 05:12:09 AM
Escrow is provided for all sales. Money is converted to US Dollars while it is in escrow.
Listings are free, but the escrow is charged at 1.21% of the whole sale (including postage and packing). This amount is subtracted when payment made to the seller.

i don't care for this crazy Escrow to usd and then back to bitcoin

now i have to put up the price a liitle for the item i posted after reading this .......... get rid of it

the site has a professional look to it expect for some kidish img like this one, you should change this

I wish I could agree. The only good thing this site has going for it right now is that banner and those buttons.

Keep 'em. You'll get more traffic. It's the only reason I remembered your name.

EDIT: I lol'ed. http://freetradecollective.org/us-dollar-bill,name,100053,auction_id,auction_details

Yeah, I like the crayon. Should do it more completely. Also the top image is pretty thick. All just my humble opinion.

And I don't think anyone cares, but denominating in dollars really turns me off.

I like the denominating in dollars, no need to go look at mtgox's chart and pull out the calculator.

18951  Economy / Speculation / Re: Premonition - Bitcoin skyrockets above 30$ on: November 24, 2011, 03:55:50 AM
I dream that someone finds a compelling use for bitcoins beyond the Silk Road.  There are none yet.
Actually there is.

But people do not comprehend it.

Secret hint: Look on what people in the 3rd world are currently lacking and how this can be changed.

If you answered yes...

What did you buy?
Where did you buy it?
Would you go back to the same vendor to buy stuff with bitcoin again?

in-order to help build trust, your comments will be added to http://www.thebitcoinreview.com
