The best time to plant a tree is 30 years ago. The second best time is today. -Warren Buffet

The Oracle of Omaha. Beautiful really...I had not heard that particular quote..thank you.

I think he said that quote, I'm not sure though. But either way, it's nice isn't it?  Wink

Lol..indeed..it has a certain  je ne sais quoi.

Important story (more for its future-critical implications) worth some more attention. Definitely take a close look at how he edited the senator's letters requesting the DoT & Fed ban bitcoin transactions. It's an argument we've used fairly often (it's practically Andreas Antonopoulous' catch-phrase; "just replace 'bitcoin' with 'dollar' in that sentence and you'll see we should ban dollars"), so it's reasonable to assume he's watching (as well as participating), and, without a doubt, our greatest ally-who's-an-elected-official in the US. For those interested in keeping Bitcoin "permitted" in the US, this fellow's pretty darn important - not for his <(.5*(1/435)) vote, obviously, but his wit, willingness to speak out, and office. Promoting something, as a politician, he has next to nothing to gain from is a somewhat confusing trait, too - probably for our benefit -- shouldn't be ignored.

You're absolutely right. I just sent him the following email:

Congressman Polis,

I just want to say that I am impressed by your understanding of and willingness to support Bitcoin amidst a host of poor reporting that spreads fear, uncertainty, and doubt about something that has huge potential to benefit everybody on this earth. The bitcoin community is growing larger every day, and we take note of people like you. We certainly appreciate the stance that you have taken. Your efforts do not go without notice.

Best Regards,
....

Somewhat redundant..but well meaning. I have also sent pro bitcoin emails to all my local, state and federal representatives encouraging them to take a closer look at this revolutionary technology. I recommend everyone here to do the same.

I know for a fact that my sister will have a huge hissy fit once we hit 10k+ and she suddenly finds out I have enough money to last tens of years if not the rest of my life. I envy those who are merely called dumb by their family.

Man you are so delusional. What makes you think bitcoin will ever go to $10k? The real invention here is the blockchain, bitcoin is just another cryptocurrency. Keep dreaming buddy, yes the few hundred or few thousand dollars you invested into bitcoin is going to set you up for life because bitcoin is going to increase 20X for no reason. This is like investing in some risky penny stock, or risky small cap stock and stating confidently that when (not even if) it goes up 20X your going to be a millionaire. Why don't you pull your money out and start investing in a real online business instead of just crossing your fingers and toes and living in fantasyland?

Maybe not just the blockchain technology but also all the money poured by VC's and also with the almost 50 Petahash/s of the cryptographic power?
Do you prefer a POW ledger for your savings, secured by #1 cryptographic power or the paper dollar issued by the FED?

We talk about something that is way much more than a speculative moove, but freedom vs slavery by debt money... but yay you got so much worthless $, same in the stock market bubble !!

PS : im not hodling right now

I'm gonna say it. Man you are so delusional. This entire forum is probably 75% delusional. Yes my worthless $. LOL. My worthless dollars backed by the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and accepted in every single location in the USA and almost every else in the world. I wonder what percentage of retailers accept bitcoin? Ok how about in 5 years? What percentage of retailers will accept bitcoin then? Probably zero.

Butthurt much?  You must have sold everything at 350ish and not bought back in yet?
4525  Economy / Speculation / Re: The key is to have as many bitcoins as possible on: April 10, 2014, 08:05:54 PM
It costs about $50 to save a human life.

Please elucidate?

I also agree with the OP. Its a great time to invest...with prudence. Buying slowly all the way to the floor...where ever that may be.

I think this is a important milestone in bitcoin history.

It would be nice to be able to lock a set amount of coins in the wallet for the use of stake, and there would then also be a password and a warning text that says that the timer on these coins will now be reset when moving them out of the "vault". Sure I could have a separate wallet for staking my coins but implementing it into the wallet would be much cooler

Pretty sure you can do that right now. I dont think there is a "timer" or anything but if you go into the console to the cmd prompt you can type 'help' to see available commands. I think you can set a base amount of coins to be kept for POS.

 $2999.01

This will be a large retraction from record ATH Q3-Q4 2014.

https://www.mintpal.com/market/UTC/BTC

Looks clear!  tx moving in and out for me.

Interface is alittle clunky and the balances take abit to update(f5 is your friend) but other than that it appears alright. Price is slipping but would expect it to climb once word gets out.

Some carriage function on the order books would be nice..they dont need to be so big.

Thanks Mintpal!

+1

So how is MintPal as an exchange? Are they stable? What is their history like?

Can we expect to be locked out for several days without answers.. hoping to get our coins back?

It looks clear.

Neo, I would like a update on the situation please. Starting to get a bitter taste in my mouth.

4537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Newly Launched on: February 25, 2014, 07:11:39 PM
Also,

Is there a timeframe on when Mintpal is going to choose the next coin? Im willing to buy votes with BTC, but i'd rather do it at the last minute so we can lock in a win. Does anyone know a specific timeframe on when they will pick the next coin?

Keep voting!  We dont need to pay for listing. Any exchange with half a brain will list utc on its own merit, and to take profit from the amazing trade volumes.  Grin

I'm wondering what the bottom will be. I have buys placed as low as 425. We shall see. Tongue

Hang on to your shorts..not there yet. 385 and 250 are my buy points.  Undecided
4539  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Newly Launched on: February 25, 2014, 04:24:41 AM
Voted.

New exchange spotted!
UTC is on Coin-swap.net now. You can swap between the usual suspects and a nice selection of smalltime alts.

Still waiting 4 days on a refund for a cancelled trade here..use at your own risk.

That being said..again. I am still hanging. Network is still strong. leetpools is rockin as usual. I am excited by the strong community that makes utc work. I still feel that come summer those that hold will be well rewarded. Get as big a pile of these coins as you can and stash em away for a year or two. Good things WILL happen.

Stay thirsty my friends.

Please list some UTC trades at Coin-Swap so we can get some movement flowing! It's VERY easy to do.

Still waiting for a refund from days ago on a cancelled trade. I would NOT use this site, and if you do use with extreme caution!
