The meme and word "HODL" came from a misspelling of "hold" posted in a whiskey fueled rant four years ago this month in 2013 on BitcoinTalk. Sellers were panic selling as the market crashed from $900 to $700. HODL was good advice.

Actually...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=375643.0;topicseen

I was on that night, GameKyuubi was hilarious.

I keep that thread "marked as unread" so I can go back anytime and laugh my ass off all over again.

Have never realised I was the first person to LOL at HODL  Cool

This is how mainstream we are now.

A few days ago someone on my facebook list, non crypto, not BTCT member said we should "HODL!"     zomg

Looking fairly comfortable at the moment

Saw this on Plebbit.

https://twitter.com/BitmexRekt/

A bot that shows people getting rekt on their trades.

https://twitter.com/BitmexRekt/status/939993657121431554

"Liquidated short on XBTUSD: Buy 2,344,883 @ 15239 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯🔥⚡ ~ BEYOND GODLIKE x13"

I think this bot runs in the whale pool chat room

Threatening a bit of down again, what would be the correction that would make everyone happy?

3767  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 09, 2017, 07:55:27 PM
Was Gemini hacked or is this just scheduled maintenance like their status page claims?

https://status.gemini.com/incidents/k4qvyflfmm24

Timing is a bit awkward given CBOE trading is based only on the Gemini price and starts in just over 24 hours.

Maybe they are doing some preparatory changes or installing a link and doing some testing on the new setup.

OK bitcoin dipping a bit and XMR rising in response.

Its a good thing to see we are buoyant.

3769  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 09, 2017, 12:15:32 PM
Well its the weekend.

Price has been trying to fall a bit over the last few hours. Never quite getting there.

3770  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: December 09, 2017, 11:44:09 AM

And the Europa League.  Meh.  I think the UEFA should just get rid of that competition and expand the CL.  It's not really doing much for the teams except for money making purposes (which is good I guess).

I like your idea to extend the CL somehow, that could be cool. It could work several ways I can think of.
3771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 07, 2017, 05:10:27 PM
I'm thinking when Tether crashes Polo is gonna go with them.
IDK what their expenses are, but the probably at least $200k gross daily revenues from the top 5 or so markets surely are enough to keep them solvent.
You never know. A large group of people could finally get really sick of of them and then migrate to another firm, causing most everybody else to leave soon after; and then next thing you know they could be belly up.

I better get to upping my authority level there.

I started it once but it doesn't say what ID you will need until you start it. Then after you pause and get the docs it says cant retry come back and try later.

FS lol

FS onion onion onion, cant any of you read? this is Monero

In other news.....

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2057229.0

Onion is a scam, look its also transparent does that sound like a privacy coin?

Becasue of FUDDErs like you I missed Deeponion. I wish I havent read this uninformed people. I made trought research and this coin is one of the most transparent and Altruist project out there.
This link you have mentioned is from a guy who DAILY TRADES ONIONS and was part of the airdrop but sold his bags and wanted to enter cheap...
I am just frustreated that it went off ifront of my nose....Monero is great coin too but Deeponion is hell of a project and team awaken from your fud dream...

You lose double if you follow idiots off the internet.

So who really knows what this latest price spike is attributed too?

We have the following:
https://www.forbes.com/sites/laurashin/2017/12/05/cryptocurrency-monero-to-be-accepted-by-45-musicians-such-as-mariah-carey-g-eazy-sia-for-holidays/#471e54dd7885

or
Bullet Proofs and Scalabilty
https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/7hbfal/20171203_monero_dev_meeting_summary_and_logs/

We have user growth, no real competitors and technical fundamentals.  Grin

What I do know is that the networking effect is kicking in and we are now in the same user growth phase as both Bitcoin and Ethereum during the Reddit 30K to 80K subscriber phase.

http://redditmetrics.com/r/Monero
http://redditmetrics.com/r/Bitcoin
http://redditmetrics.com/r/Ethereum

Price appreciation has been around 800% in this phase in a very short time frame:
Bitcoin 8 Months
Ether 4 Months

I'm predicting a $1K price in a very short period. Probably the end of March when we historically have our highs. I'm guessing we will have a protracted pullback after that.

For the first time in 4 years, I'm having problems withdrawing XMR from Polo. Same as Ether when it took off!

Good times ahead!  Grin

I want to add all kinds of people are often name dropping Monero as their second interest or a project to follow.

How many bitcoin things I watched like that, its very encouraging.

Normally I'd spend like $25 on them.  Not close close friends, just good work friends.

What's my play here.

Do it at the office party. Have them download a wallet to their phone. Gift them $25 worth in real time from your phone.

Go big, half a BTC each and back to yours for coke and champagne   Cheesy

Wow it seems I was in right with ONIONS. It is raising fast as hell

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/deeponion/

coz it's got layers ! LAYERS I tell you! Warning: peeling back might make you cry...

$ONIONs are steadily growing and getting more attention..
I value privacy and look for projects with a great potential, hence I am currently keeping my eye on Monero, DeepOnion.

If the Onion dev diverted off over 80% of coins would you still love it? sounds like Darkcoin 2 to me
