It is true I noticed a blockchain section the other day in the Microsoft Azure cloud service setup menus. Here you can chose from these. So even people who don't know why they need one can have one anyway.

Followed for quite a while. I started with an older wall observer thread. Over the years I have picked out a few good people to follow and learn more.
So I follow these peoples threads..
Yourself, Masterluc, Chessnut, Wall observer up to the last 3 pages only, so much noise there now.
Oh and some XMR threads as that is where my coins sit at the moment.
So these are the main threads I follow.
I love learning but I have no money for endless courses and qualifications. Next best thing is the hunt for knowledge.
Thanks again,
Phil

The only thing bitcoin has going for it right now is the brand name and the network effect. It has been riding on that for about 2 years. How long do you think it will be able to last?
Looks like that if we are very lucky it will go the way of IBM: http://prnt.sc/ep7ib8But my guess is that the idiots led by saboteurs will utterly destroy it and it will become just another old failed cryptocoin. Intersting theory, but crypto is booming Bitcoin is still the biggest by far. It has the biggest community by far, huge mining farms, worldwide attention, investors have discovered it. It has the worldwide press on it, and adoption is still increasing. So Bitcoin will continue to grrow for a while if you ask me. Its the mother of crypto. If bitcoin fails, it is most likely that 80% of the altcoins are going with it. 95% of the altcoins will fail regardless of what bitcoin does, it's those 5% you need to watch out for. ETH is already 1/4th of the value of bitcoin. Dash is also a large contender. Bitcoin is not invincible, and they should not act like they are. I think this is true. But does it even matter if another coin is of the same value? its surely not the end of bitcoin. It will just be a different way people making a service will have to pin their colours to a mast. Users will have to decide in the end.

Fair play and good luck to you, but I am just learning as much as I can while I juggle a young family and life.
So you will have to stick with the spirituals kudos from me. I am a big fan and I really respect (and appreciate) the taking the time to share some things of interest.
I bow to thee,
Phil xx

Last week had dinner with a biologist I introduced to BTC in Dec 2013. He held during the bear market and picked up some more BTC at $200. All this without my knowledge! But what really surprised me was when he asked me whether I've heard of Monero, which he'd bought on the advice of another friend of his (whom I don't know). First time someone I know IRL bought Monero without my involvement!
woot! good for your friend and nice for you. He learned something the first time round.

Bitcoin is neither over-bought nor overvalued.
If the purpose of bitcoin is to be decentralized, then it's value should probably be zero due to the following: creating a "decentralized" currency is probably not even possible without the ability to make something like decentralized captchas where mining requires manual human intervention, otherwise it's just externalized proof of stake in practice - a Rube Goldberg machine that doesn't solve anything. If you can extract money from people simply by amassing a large amount of capital and using that advantage against them making it where they can't compete or they're forced to buy from you, that's called rent seeking usury, not decentralization.
This then goes back to the Warren Buffet argument about gold where he claims it's stupid for economics to be dictated by people digging something up from the ground then putting it back into the ground again (vault). It would be kind of the same with decentralized captchas/puzzles - people mindlessly staring at a screen all day doing nothing productive except solving a captcha for money. In both cases (gold mining and captcha based bitcoin mining) you're spending time and resources in a mostly unproductive pursuit. Current ASIC Bitcoin mining puts this process on cruise control, but the mere fact that it's on cruise control means it's just plain old rent seeking usury in practice and solves nothing in terms of economic monopoly. Bitcoin is currently designed as a usury system for men to have control of other men as slaves. It's externalized proof of stake - a closed entropy system in practice PRETENDING to be open entropy. Mining doing nothing but eating up the planets resources, with less and less efficiency. If bitcoin goes mega scale someone will have to find a way to make it greener. Or we will all be sitting naked and hungry, oh but with some bitcoins. Woo hoo.

Had to learn it the harder way but good advice.
*edit* Maybe worth adding that even when you do everything right sometimes shit happens.
Haircuts, scammers and exit scams abounded over the last few years.

Turned a little profit from it, but it was a little terrifying also.
I decided to get out in profit,
I followed Monero a long time so I am happy with its fundamentals. Immunised me a bit to the rise and fall it suffers.
In a way if its for a hedge, and when people are saying I'm 80% BTC 20% XMR if that's their full plan, then it seems the more obvious hedge ought to be outside of the crypto space.

what is the point of the micro dumps that last 1 or 2 days and have no long term effect 1) could be a fake out? 2) Could be that some of the bigger bearwhales were not ready for the dump and only renegade bearwhales have participated in this particular dump? 3) Could be that the dump is not over? We don't necessarily know until it plays out. I'm kind of a bit more inclined towards the second one... but I would not be surprised if the 3rd one were to play out... Test dumps, just like little test pumps
