1821  Economy / Marketplace / Re: CoinURL.com: shorten links and earn Bitcoins on: May 01, 2012, 05:30:29 PM
I don't think your website will be successful this way, 'cause it sucks when you have to register & remember a username for a small service like this.
I think it would be better, if you just make another field for the bitcoin address & it should be possible to use the same address for multiple links and adjust if you want to get paid weekly / monthly or just manually withdraw it... (→ http://anonymousads.com/ uses the bitcoin address to identify users)

Thanks, any idea of the commission rate they take?

The commission rate is high, because they're doing PayPal and some other things:
2.5%+50 SLL for market orders (buy instantly) or 3.9% for limit orders (specify the rate you want to get)

However you'll get a discount on exchange commission, if you trade a lot of SLL.

There are limits for risky payment methods

PayPal/Skrill Transaction Limits
per 24 hours
40   EUR
52   USD
48   CHF
32   GBP
per 30 days
120   EUR
156   USD
144   CHF
96   GBP

1. You don't need a SecondLife account. Fill in 'none', if you just want to trade.
2. They are balanced on your account. You have to withdraw the BTC. Withdrawals will be manually checked by VirWoX
3. btw. you cannot buy bitcents. Just 1 BTC or 100 BTC or sth

Quick question. How would you handle a situation were the price of BTC increase dramatically. Say I place a bet on next years superbowl winner where I stand to win 1000BTC. What if the BTC price is $100 next year when the bet is settled? Will you really be able to pay me?

Must be difficult for him if his service doesn't get a lot of users and you're placing a bet like this.
However, if there's a lot of betting and he saves some coins it seems possible to me.

1827  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mt Gox thinks it's the Fed. Freezes acc based on "tainted" coins. on: March 24, 2012, 05:34:39 PM
The same day I deposited BTC into gox that got my account locked, I deposited the same amount from the same wallet from the same payments/customers to my unverified bitcoinica account. That deposit went through with no problems.

Maybe bitcoinica didn't use the same coins  Huh  Wink

btw.: Have fun getting zhoutonged!

Everybody should know by now what MtGox’s policy is on this. If you are not okay with verifying your account if such a thing happens, you should simply use another exchange.

+1 - but I think people are ignoring the ToS like EULAs....

Dear Mt.Gox,

why do you allow unverified people to trade money for BTC, if you're trying to help the cops with "tainted" coins? I think there are a lot of "tainted" coins....

If you create a non-profit mining organization, what should it do?

  • you could invest some BTC for development bounties to improve the code/protocol of Bitcoin
  • and some BTC to buy more equipment

Donators should be allowed to vote for or against things like P2SH.
Also: It makes sense to me to use sth. like P2Pool to reduce the risk of 51% attacks.

witcoin has been down for a while and yesterday I received a 3.50 BTC transaction from noagendamarket - after telling him about the problem.
I've asked dearia several times to refund me, but due to his health issues and trouble contacting noagendamarket (he was unavailable for a while - occupying melbourne) I was unable to get them back.

I want to clarify that...
  • I'm sure that dearia didn't spend my coins, but I want to get them back in my wallet
  • I also told him, that I'd allow him to use my VPS to refund everyone
  • I even offered my entire outstanding witcoin balance to dearia, if he manages to get witcoin up and running again and continues to work on it
  • I don't think it has anything to do with Intersango or CryptoXChange as a company
  • I think owners of small exchanges should work together instead of participating in flame wars

Nuff said.

@thread TL;DR

Titcoins lose value over time as age and gravity take hold ?

Exactly; and you can only use them, if you have 2 of them… ↓

FAIL. Tits are not divisible to the 8th decimal.

People's Republic of California.

LMAO  Cheesy

btw.: It's sad for TradeHill and I really hope that they're not in trouble or sth. - I really hope, that a few small exchanges are getting bigger, 'cause Mt. Gox is too big at the moment.

btw 2.: It would be great to see the source code of their platform, so someone else can start an exchange (outside the US)
