1801  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying Bitcoins and VirWoX on: July 21, 2012, 02:06:06 PM
Alright so I am pretty new to bitcoin, I have a little experience with losing coins on satoshidice, but that is about as far as it goes. I just got given a 60AUD prepaid mastercard and was wondering if there was anywhere I could use it to buy bitcoins (Apart from VirWoX), or do an escrow trade for it (the codes, not the physical card)?

There are many bitcoin users in Australia. You should try #bitcoin-otc and #bitcoin-aus on Freenode. bitcoin-otc.com is a web of trust, where you can buy/sell things for bitcoin.

I was also wondering if anyone knew how long a btc withdrawal from VirWoX normally takes?

I always received my BTC within 1-48 hours. They'll send your coins manually. Your first btc withdrawal might take longer due to security checks.

I'll tell you a secret: The price will always go left → right.

1806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using bitcoin addresses for captcha..... on: June 30, 2012, 07:31:33 AM
1.Captcha shows a Bitcoin address + a random number of BTC to pay
2.User pays x.xxxxxxxx BTC
3.User gets 90-99% of his/her coins back after 14 days (unless he/she has been reported by the owner of the website)

Who can calculate a vanity address for me? 7-8 characters (not the one above)  Wink
Only members with excellent reputation.
Bounty?

It's better if you do it on your own machine. Here's a tool: https://github.com/samr7/vanitygen
1811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happened to Bitcoins being anonymous? on: June 11, 2012, 10:57:22 PM
Correct me if I am wrong but I barely use blockchain and I was taking a look at it and it shows you a map of all the coins being sent in the world.
This is suppose to be all anonymous..

I think your logic is flawed!

all anonymous? nothing on the internet is really "anonymous", because you're always using addresses / nicknames (e.g. your IP address, Bitcoin address, etc. → pseudo-anonymous...)

Quote from: Wikipedia
Anonymity is derived from the Greek word ἀνωνυμία, anonymia, meaning "without a name" or "namelessness".

1813  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for kids on: June 10, 2012, 03:22:13 PM
I'd show them how to use Bitcoin using testnet and upgrade to the real Bitcoin client later. Just give them some small amounts.

Maybe it looks better for your kids if you change the following setting:
Settings→ Options → Display → Unit show amounts in: µBTC / mBTC

Hallo,

1818  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: First international online pharmacy accepting Bitcoin! on: May 23, 2012, 05:58:36 PM

This website has not contacted us and requested us to provide them with any information license number etc. We have not requested them to verify us as they charge pharmacies to do so!
You can check us up in the internet and post any negative post about us in this forum! We have only found positive comments about us since we started out company mid 2009.

Uhm...no,but…:
First, it's free! LegitScript offers this service at no cost. The certification process looks at eleven standards to see if your pharmacy is safe for patients.

  • We generally will not approve an online pharmacy if the WhoIs (registrant) information is anonymous or privacy-protected. You can check whether your information is currently privacy-protected at Domain Tools.
  • Under no circumstances will we approve an online pharmacy that fills prescriptions solely on the basis of an online questionnaire.
  • We do not approve websites sourcing prescription drugs in a way that the FDA has indicated is contrary to US law (meaning, "Canadian" or other foreign pharmacy websites).

I was their first bitcoin sale.  Smiley  I highly recommend theswisspharmacy.com.  They ship very fast and the product is always perfect.

I purchased a couple days ago with these guys, and Urs (the owner) has been wonderful. My intuition thus far is that swisspharmacy is legit, and I'll report back when I receive my order.

1/unconfirmed so far …… waiting for evoorhees Wink
