Bitstamp is different in that it's dealing with Bitcoin and government money.

By the way: Bitcoin is getting bigger, because we have middlemen like Coinbase, Circle, Xapo, etc. making it user-friendly.
1382  Economy / Economics / Re: EUR might drop below USD on: March 18, 2015, 06:55:14 PM
I think if it really goes down to 0.85 USD per EUR (as Deutsche Bank suggests) the Fed will  push the Dollar back to ~1.2.

I can't believe Bitstamp - as a UK-registered company - didn't respond to the call for information.
1384  Economy / Services / Re: Welcome to Bitcoin Skype Groups - Services Group on: March 18, 2015, 11:15:49 AM
Skype for Linux doesn't like this chat - at least on my computer.
1385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you trust yourself to manage your own private keys? on: March 18, 2015, 11:07:08 AM
I do trust myself to manage my own private keys, but I'm aware that I could get hacked or make a fatal mistake and that's why I keep 40% of my Bitcoins in managed wallets by different companies.

If you're managing all your bitcoins on your own you have a single point of failure.
1386  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] 1Broker.com - Trade forex, indices, stocks and commodities on: March 18, 2015, 10:23:11 AM
Not existing, because of open legal questions. Legislation about our business-model (with bitcoin being not a currency) is basically is non-existent, here.
We are working very hard in the background to make this a fully registered and legit company. There will be news about this topic, soon.

That's what you're saying for more than 2 years now!

The Wirtschaftskammer will be able to tell you if your business model is legal in Austria - if it's not you can still register in a less restrictive jurisdiction (Luxembourg, Cyprus, Ireland, Gibraltar, Belize, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, BVI, Saint Kitts, ....).
1387  Economy / Services / Re: Welcome to Bitcoin Skype Groups on: March 18, 2015, 08:23:20 AM
Is the link working?

It doesn't work for me. Looks like it starts with http://, but it should start with skype: - maybe SMF forum doesn't allow skype links.
1388  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-03-16] WSJ: Rakuten Starts Accepting Bitcoin on: March 18, 2015, 06:02:35 AM
This was already posted in this section 3 hours ago. Maybe it would be a good idea check if the article is posted to avoid spamming the board.

Yup, this has been all over the media.
Personally, I would give more importance to mainstream media (like WSJ, CNBC or Reuters) than a website focused on cryptocurrency.

So if I write the same story and syndicate it to all of the publications you mentioned above, you'll believe it more if it was WSJ?  Why?  Is it more right?

Most of these "Bitcoin News" websites are not really reliable (CoinDesk seems okay to me) + sometimes you can find important information when you read the same story again on another website (e.g. some articles about Rakuten accepting Bitcoin don't even mention future expansion plans to Germany and Austria -- as someone who lives in Austria, that's definitely something I want to know)
1389  Other / Off-topic / Re: Finding followers on: March 17, 2015, 10:18:59 PM
You might be able to buy followers in the digital goods section.

You can buy followers, but they are likely inactive or fake accounts and absolutely worthless.

1.Be active
2.Be creative
3.Interact with others
4.Add relevant hashtags
1390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: T-Mobile, only a promotion? on: March 16, 2015, 08:10:19 PM
A 20% discount won't last for years, but still better than nothing. I hope T-Mobile Austria joins them.
1391  Economy / Economics / Re: EUR might drop below USD on: March 16, 2015, 12:31:33 PM
It's still at 1.05, but it might go below USD this week
1392  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Buying- Bitdefender Internet Security License on: March 15, 2015, 05:38:42 PM
That could work you good with escrowing it?

Sure, but I have never really used the forums to sell anything. Who should be doing escrow?
1393  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Buying- Bitdefender Internet Security License on: March 15, 2015, 05:25:59 PM
I don't have a key for 3 computers, but I could get you a Bitdefender Internet Security 2015 - 1 PC 9 Months Key for 0.02 BTC (bought it here)

1394  Economy / Economics / Re: USD monetary base has increased 3.5x since 2006. Why no huge inflation? on: March 15, 2015, 03:53:33 PM
Or, is it possible that you can have huge increases in monetary base without ever having these increases passed onto the economy?

I guess most of that went to the stock market so it doesn't really make a difference for consumers. If there's a major trend change on the stock markets you might see the prices of goods and services going up.
1395  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Local-Bitcoins.com is for sale!!!! on: March 15, 2015, 03:20:47 PM
It's definitely possible and it doesn't matter if the company is small. 1500 USD is still cheaper than 2200 USD.
1396  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Local-Bitcoins.com is for sale!!!! on: March 15, 2015, 02:47:47 PM
You could probably sell it to localbitcoins.com for very large as well, they will likely want to buy it.

Why would they buy it? They can just go to a court and get this domain for a few dollars - just like microsoft.com took over mikerowesoft.com

Keep in mind that if you buy this domain name LBC can take it from you at any time.
1397  Economy / Economics / Re: EUR might drop below USD on: March 15, 2015, 02:07:42 PM
Some people say the the euro is going to $0.85, but who knows it might go below $0.5.

As someone who lives in Europe I think this is bad for the economy.

1399  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Cashing out BTC to paypal? on: March 09, 2015, 01:53:43 PM
I know VirWox since a decade as I am merchant and designer in Second Life. I can not tell you how often I exchanged between PayPal and VirWox back and forth, it happens at least twice a month since years. My PayPal account is still working, as same as my VirWox account. So, I think you are wrong. PayPal has no problem with VirWox.

AFAIK VirWoX has a special deal with PayPal and is the only Bitcoin exchanger that is tolerated by PayPal
1400  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Cashing out BTC to paypal? on: March 09, 2015, 11:53:41 AM
If you don't do anything shady, you don't have to be afraid to get problems with your account.

PayPal will freeze your account just for using Bitcoin, because it's against their terms of service
